Lady Ghost sat back in a throne like chair and watched as her demon kin set up the halloween decorations. She was dressed in a red tutu, a black camisole, with a leather jacket. There were lights and cobwebs strewn all along the trees and brush. Tables set up with lots of goodies for both the children and the adults. There was a large dance floor sitting in a large clearing with a DJ booth set up with large speakers on each side. There was a bounce house and a a section set up as a haunted house. It was themed as demonic zombies, only the demonic zombies were real thanks to Lucien and his skills.
Lady looked over her shoulder and spoke to Blade. “Is everything in order for the haunted house?” The puppet nodded its head and she smiled. “Good” Sher said and turned back to watch Tao carry a large keg of beer over to the beverage table. He was in his were form and flicked his tail in irritation after he sat the keg down. “I dont see why i have to this,Im not indentured to you woman and this labor is beneath me.” He growled and glared at Lady. It didnt take long for Lucien t ostep up to her defense, though it was moreso to defend himself.
“You are beneath me , yet i had to set up a damn haunted house. You thinking you are above this work is like saying you are above me and i would be more than happy to correct that thinking for you.” He say with a crooked smile that seemed to stretch unnaturally. At the tone of his voice, the zombies could be heard getting riled up. Jester, who was sitting on the table grabbed a knife and started playing with in anticipation of burying it deep within someone’s flesh. 6-shooter let off a few rounds to show that he was game. Leech woman and Pin head seemed to sigh as they paused then continued setting up the table they were on. Torch and Sergeant couldnt care less.
Xanavia flew between them and huffed. “Seriously? Youre gonna have a pissing contest now? At least wait until all the guests get here. It’ll be more fun.” She said with a large mischievous smile. “Tao, now you know you shouldnt be starting trouble with an upper level demon no way. I would get in trouble if Xianthane found out i let something happen to another of his hounds. Besides youre supposed to be keeping me out of trouble. Not the other way around.” She said and flicked her tail as she tucked her wings in. “So with that being said, get your butt back to work.” She said and ruffled his fur. Tao growled at them both before cutting his eyes at Lady.
Lady laughed and applauded Navi. “Well done little demon. Have you completed your chore also?” Navi grinned and flashed over to stand beside Lady and played with her hair. “I sure did. The pole, the little mini ghosts, the ghouls, and the goblins are all in place. I cant wait to scare folks this evening, im so excited!” She squealed pulling a laugh out of Lady. “How are the boys doing? Did they help?”
Navi seemed to be deep in thought for a moment before she giggled and nodded her head. “Cian was a lot of help, though Zander was a complete dick and lazy as hell. They are somewhere over there in the forest no doubt acting as lookouts.” She said with a soft growl. “But anyway everything is looking good just waiting for the stars to come out to join us and our guests arrive.” She said with a bright smile. Lady laughed and waved her off. “Alright go have some fun until everybody arrives.” Navi gave a mock salute and flexed her wings. She covered herself with them before putting them away. She stood in a nurse’s outfit covered in blood stains, dirt, rips and tears. Her hair was in a messy braid down her back and her swirling eyes looked terrifying.
“You will definitely scare the shit out of somebody.” Lady said as she watched Navi bound off. She looked at her watch and then looked to Blade. “It’s almost showtime, you’re gonna be up for this old man?” She asked and she could have sworn he gave her a cheeky grin before giving a slight nod of his head in agreement. “Alrighty, Let the mischief begin.” She said with a smile and looked to the sky to watch the last rays of daylight disappear.

Jessi was bouncing on her toes from excitement as she walked through the Halloween store. Halloween and autumn was the best time of the year. There was just something about it that made it seem so magical and awesome. She chuckled softly as she walked the aisles looking for her new costume as she remembered her Talk with Lady Ghost. She'd gotten a call about a huge Halloween party on the outskirts of town and was told that it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a horde of supernatural beings. She was so beside herself with her excitement that she almost missed the warnings. "Wait said that again?" She asked sheepishly. Lady Ghost could be hear growling on the other end of the phone and it made Jessi wonder about the kind of creature she was.
"I said that humans arent recommended to go but there's nothing to say that you cant. You need to keep your wits about you and dont piss anybody off. I'd hate to have to erase any possible traces of you from existence. Anyway, many that will attend will be cool and nice, some not so much. They will detect your human scent easily, so do be careful. I cant stress that enough." Lady ghost said in exasperation that had Jessi smiling smugly into the phone.
"you like me dont you?" She said with a grin..
"Dont be foolish. I simply dont have time to look for another reporter who's genuine in their dealings." Lady Ghost said nonchalantly and Jessi's grin grew. "Seriously, dont think too much on it or you will get your feelings hurt." With another growl, Lady Ghost moved on with the conversation. "Oh and make sure you bring lots of goodies for the little ones. you cant show up empty handed. Also there will be plenty of treats for the adults to enjoy as well as games for all. But thats all i have to say. Just as it was with those interviews i set up for you, take caution and stay aware of your surroundings and company.I have to go, dont get killed." And with that Lady Ghost hung up the phone.
Jessi simply laughed when the line went dead. Despite her trying to hide it, Jessi could tell that Lady Ghost liked her. Why else would she be so concerned about her well being? She walked further down the aisle and her eyes lit up when she saw her new costume.

Alexander waited impatiently for the kids to get in the car. He was dressed as a dead fireman. He didnt care too much for dressing up but Nicolas insisted and even did "eeny meenie miny mo" to decided between the dead fireman and a unicorn. Thankfully it was the former rather than the later. The thought still made him shudder. Nick thought the whole thing was funny. Alex leaned on the driver door and closed his eyes before calling out to them. "Come on guys! Get your butts out here! I know you're ready so lets go!"
"Im ready to go, Papa Bear." His eyes snapped open when he felt a cold presence beside him and hearing Nicole's warm soft voice. She acted much more mature than Nick but she was definitely a strange one. It still amazes him how much she has grown to look like her mother. She stood in front of him dressed as a native american woman. She was barely in her preteens but she stood nearly to his shoulder. Her caramel complexion was marred by unknown tribal markings on her legs, forearms and her face, her coily hair falling well below her shoulders in varying shades of brown. She wore an intricate made of small animal bones and teeth as well as bracelets and anklets that accented her costume or what he assumed was her costume. She wore a doeskin dress with fringes at the shoulders and the bottom, though it stopped at her knees it had splits that went up to her hip but was connected by beaded fringes that hung loosely on each side. She was barefoot but held a pair of moccasins in one hand and a bow and quiver of arrows in the other. He didnt look too closely at what any of it was made from figuring it was better if he didnt know.
Her snow white eyes seemed to look straight through him as she looked at him. It also explained the cold presence he'd felt. It was once of her spirit friends, though this one seem a lot stronger than the others. He sighed and smiled back at her. "Hey Baby girl, I like your costume but are you worried about getting cold?" He asked her taking in her outfit once more. "Silly Papa, I dont get cold that easy." She said with a chuckle and got into the car. Alex didnt know what to say in response to that. Nikki was definitely a strange one.
He turned his attention back to the house and and growled softly. "Nicholas and Jason! Seriously get your asses out here so we can go!" He was getting in the car ready to leave them both behind then he thought of Lance and knew he couldnt just leave them but if they didnt hurry up and get in the car, he most certainly would. Nick came bounding out of the house laughing and dodging a pissed off Jason. Alex nearly beat his head in the steering wheel. "Luna give me strength." He sent up a whispered prayer and Nicole giggled.
"Get back here you fucking turd!" Jason yelled as he lunged for Nick who narrowly dodged him laughing his head off.
“Oh c’mon man, lighten up it was just a joke.” He laughed and ran to the car with a sack in hand.
“Yeah and me putting my foot up your ass is my joke. Come here so i can tell it!” Jason snarled as he dashed after Nick who dove in the car and closed the door.
“What the hell!” When Jason opened his mouth to tell him but couldnt stop snarling and glaring at Nick. “You know what, nevermind we need to go. Get in the car.” Alex said and crunk up the car. With another snarl Jason got in the car snarling.
“What happened to your costume?”Alex asked as they pulled out of the driveway and headed to the Halloween party. Both Jason and Nick were wearing normal clothing.
“Dont ask.” Jason growled at the same time Nick answered with a laugh. “I think my normal self is scary enough.”
“You aint never lied” Alex mumbled. Which caused Niki to giggle.

Sia brushed her hair behind her ear as she reached for her whip. She was dressed as Xena the warrior princess. Mateo was Iolaus and Kori was her Gabrielle. Mateo wore a sword on his back and Kori had her staff in hand twirling it this way and that.
“Are we ready to go my pets?” Sia asked as she grabbed up her keys.
“Yes, m’lady.” Mateo with slight bow. Sia sighed gently patted his cheek. “Try to relax a bit Darling and have fun. The children will be there, i know how much you were wanting to see them. A slight smile played on his lips. She couldnt resist and pulled his lips closer to hers and captured a kiss.
Kori folded placed the staff on her shoulders and draped her arms over it. “Madame, you spoil him.” She said and rolled her eyes. With a hiss, Sia turned on Kori and slapped her, leaving thin rake marks that slowly welled with blood. “Tonight may be a fun night but dont forget your place.” She said as she pressed her body against Kori’s and lick the blood from her cheek. “Now be a good girl and behave.” Kori was nowhere near upset, in fact she was actually turned on as she watched Sia saunter out the door with Mateo beside her.
She licked her lips and tasted blood she gave an appreciative growl and followed her Lady only partially curious about how it was going to turn out.

Going to a party infested with demons wasn’t an ideal thing to do when you’re a faerie. After all, there has been numerous counts of the two species not getting along. One would think that the king of the Seelie Fae wouldn’t be so heartless as to let his people anywhere near a crowd of said demons when there were such high tensions.
But Oberon was, indeed, heartless. At least, to Patience and Wade, who were to go to the Halloween party not only to find the faerie that slighted the ever-offended king, but to go for diplomatic reasons. This Lady Ghost character seems to be a very powerful being, King Oberon had mentioned. It’d be in the best interest of the Court that she would have no reason to want to attack the Good Folk, like her fellow kin.
The twins were there as representatives of the court, presenting themselves as friends – not enemies – so that Oberon wouldn’t have to worry about a new threat to his reign. Which was fine; Patience and Wade knew what they were getting into when they accepted their roles as prince and princess. Not only were they executioners, they were diplomats as well. Certainly, they were doing a better job than their father, Crown Prince Kheelan, who was currently serving ten years as a jester for the stint he pulled with Sarah.
It did help a lot to know that Cian was there, Patience told herself. It did. It had only been a short time after Cian told her about the term “Lifemate” and what it entailed, but already Patience felt as if she could trust Cian with anything (something hard for her to do, what with Xavier’s abuse, the fae’s motto of “look out for yourself” and the dragons’ tendency to horde things they find valuable). Maybe it was because of their tie that had her opening to him more. She definitely blamed the sudden sadness when she was apart from him on it.
She convinced Cian to dress up for Halloween. It wasn’t because she wanted to do the whole, “we’re a thing, so we have to do whatever couples do” bit her fellow celebrities do. She didn’t want to dress up in the first place. But her companions (namely Imogene) wanted to. After all, it was a Halloween party.
Nemus was dressed up like Cerberus. What was interesting about his costume was that it was made strictly from a glamour-infused jewel that was embedded into his collar. All three heads, pure white save for red ears, moved of their own accord, showing emotions separately, yet speaking with the same voice. Quintz, Wade’s hound, did not have that luxury; she was poorly dressed a church grim, the green fur of a cu sith dyed (with a dog friendly dye) temporarily black with a goat-face mask that sat atop her head.
Imogene did try her best when it came to Quintz. But she didn’t have the ability to infuse glamour into jewels simply because she didn’t wield that kind of power. That, and Wade didn’t have that special bond that Patience had with Nemus.
Patience, Wade, Imogene, and Seth were dressed like figures from Greek mythology. It wasn’t too particularly hard since all four of them had a run-in with a deity in one point of their lives. Patience was dressed like Aphrodite, but she didn’t capture all of her “essence”, for fear of having the vain goddess smite her. Wade was dressed like his patron god, Apollo, with Imogene as his mortal lover Daphne (which was an interesting choice, because Daphne didn’t want Apollo’s attention and had herself turned into a tree to be away from him. Patience wondered why her brother and best friend chose that couple to represent this year). Seth was difficult, to say the least, when choosing his Greek character. First, he wanted to be dressed as Charon, the ferryman for the dead. But he couldn’t get his makeup quite right. Then, he wanted to dress as Zeus, but couldn’t get the blue eye contacts he wanted. After many failed attempts, he decided on Dionysus, the god of wine. It was simple to dress like him. Just tuck a pillow under the toga he wore, muss up his hair a bit and swipe Patience’s blush to make his cheeks look rosy and voila! A last minute costume for a Halloween party.
The troupe shook off their glamour that made them invisible to the untrained eye, walking side-by-side like a miniature formidable army of Greeks into Troy. A bad synonym, yes. But for Patience, all she could think of is the worst.
Cian? she called to her Lifemate tentatively, as if she wasn’t particularly sure how to use a private telepathic link with someone (even though she did). We’re here.

Jailean was ecstatic, and that was putting it mildly. She trembled just thinking about the coming night. Halloween had been something she only ever really celebrated by herself. For eighteen years she was only told of the concept by caretakers and therapists. Her free life only lead to her spending the night watching cheesy scary movies on the couch while getting fat on dollar store chocolate bars. And, truth be told, she was very close to convincing Leo and Jua to join her on that annual ritual of laziness. That all changed when she overheard their conversation one night. A comment made in passing about a Halloween party set up by other mythical creatures such as them. Looking at herself in the mirror, she almost didn't recognize who she was staring at. With this being the first time she'd actually dressed up for a party, Jailean decided that she would go all out. A YouTube makeup tutorial, a black dress she took way too long to find, and a hell of a lot of black hair dye later, and Jailean was looking exactly like one of her favorite movie characters: Morticia from the Addams family.
Well... Not exactly. She wasn't nearly as tall as her, the dress wasn't the same, and she couldn't get the right amount of paleness to her skin. She'd also forgot to get contact lenses for her eyes, but that was the least of her concerns.
Truthfully she might have gotten a little carried away with her excitement, insisting that she help Jua and Leo dress up for the occasion as well. "It'll be like those masquerade balls!" she explained, failing to contain her excitement. "When I'm through with the two of you, nobody will be able to guess who you really are. It'll be perfect."
Grinning ear to ear, Jailean worked on Jua first, finding something that would be more... him. With her knowledge limited to mere cheesy horror movies from yesteryear, she ended on setting him up as Count Dracula from the 1931 movie. She did her best to give him the high cheekbone look with her makeup, nodding with approval when it looked just right. She got him into a tuxedo with the collar popped high around his neck, a white bow-tie, and a long black cape that she stapled to the tux's shoulders, long enough that he could do that move where Dracula would grab it and pull it to mask his face. Completing the look were fake vampire teeth that would fit easily into his top two incisors and would be just as easy to pop off in case he wanted to eat anything, and some attachable claws she fashioned out of black-painted tinfoil which she attached to leftover ringpop rings. She stepped back, admiring the look, and whispered "perfect" in her best Morticia impersonation as she turned to Leo.
The man was finicky. God, it took her forever to get him to agree. Lots of promises, a tong of begging, and a couple empty threats here and there. The Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz first came to mind, a play on his ability to become a lion. Then she remembered that the Cowardly Lion wasn't scary at all... aaand there was no way Leo would agree to that. So, she figured she'd hit at the next best thing. Jailean fit him with leftover vampire fangs over the four of his incisors and fashioned for him claws just like those she made for Jua out of tinfoil and ringpop rings. But what truly completed the look for her was a wild-looking wig over the man's head, pretty much a mane of dirty blonde hair that was combed back and covered everything from the back of his neck to the top half of his ears, and extended down to thick sideburns extending long past his ears. If she had more time she would've made him grow out a beard or, at the very least, would have found him a good fake one to wear, but time was something she lacked. With a little more convincing, Jailean got Leo to sit still and finally she got to work on dirtying up his face with makeup: painted on wrinkles over the bridge of Leo's nose to give him a somewhat genuine look of a snarl; some "dirt" throughout his face to give him the look of a beast man roaming the woods; a couple finishing touches around his lips, as if the man had just ate at the flesh of the living. Completing the look was a solid green flannel and some jeans ripped up around the ankles, thighs, and knees. If she wanted to go all out she would have forced him to go barefoot, but she wasn't that mean. "Just like the 1941 Wolf Man," she commented, admiring her work. "Well, almost just like him."
The smile still played on her lips, and then she added in her best Morticia she could muster, "Well then, gentlemen, shall we?"
*~*~*~*
He tapped his foot impatiently and waited. For the first time, it was he who was early to the meeting point. Of course she'd be late. He huffed, wanting to scream, but alas unable to contain a grin that played at around his face. Reaver brought his phone out and texted very quickly and sloppily "where the FUCK are you?!?!", before sitting back on the stump of a tree.
It was Katie that had told him about it to begin with. He was near where the party was taking place, someplace in the woods, far, that he'd never been to before. That's where they had agreed to meet at. Despite his annoyance at having to wait around for the woman, he still couldn't keep the smile off his face. It was a goofy kind of grin, mostly at himself, thinking about how she'd react to how he dressed up.
The thing took effort. She may doubt it at first, and she probably would, but this took hours and hours of thinking. There are people that would say it was cliche to throw a white blanket over your body and cut holes for eyes, but to Reaver, it was exactly what such a party needed. Something a little more simply. There was beauty in simplicity. Sure, he'd cut the right eyehole a lot bigger than compared to the left one, and the left one was a little iffy because his hand had slipped and had caused a downward tear on the cloth. And, sure, maybe the cloth was a little too small because he had to cut away the bottom so he wouldn't trip on it, revealing his bare ankles and bare fit inside sandals since he decided to wear cargo shorts this time around under the cloth, but that gave it the personal touch. Yes, that's what it was about, personality. He loved his costume.
Hell, he even added his own little flair to it by giving it a blood stain with red dye. "Oh but ghosts are immaterial, why would it have blood," he heard Katie murmuring already, to which he was ready to reply with a "bah" while throwing shade at whatever costume she decided to show up with.
If the woman ever even showed up. Again, impatiently, he tapped his foot on the ground, crossing his arms under his costume, as he decided to wait for her a little while longer.

"Don't fret, Ve." Lucrezia rubbed the woman's shoulders, feeling smooth skin beneath her thumbs and underneath that-tension. Ventia was standing in the middle of her office at Suck Them Dry, looking at the wall of cameras that showed her what was going on outside the sealed door. She couldnt concentrate on monitoring the club because her mind was somewhere else.
Yes, she could feel Lue behind her. Could feel the succubus' fingers massasing the knots on her shoulders and the deliberate rubbing of her breasts against Ventia's back-but even that couldnt get the woman to stop frowning.
Lucrezia bent down, her tail that had been idly wrapped around her bare thigh now caressed Ventia's legs. Lue liked it, liked being in her regular form and around Ventia. She was always taller than her lover but with the shift she had grew a extra six inches. Her wings, a dark purple color that felt as soft as velvet but material was hard enough to withstand bullets, hovered behind her, draping just a few inches from the floor. Her tail was the same, with its pointed arrow at the end, but it was cool to the touch. Her nails were long and red-and Lue had enough practice to not do harm if she choose to. Her ears had slanted like that of a elf with long dark purple-almost black-horns perturbed from her fiery curly locks. Her eyes? Vibrant red.
Most people dressed up for Halloween. Not Lucrezia. No, she showed them exactly who she was on this merry day. Of course, those who knew no better congratulated her on the extent of details she went through-but those who did know all about Lilith and her daughters? Well, they knew exactly what kind of demon she was and knew to keep their space. Not that the first daughter of Lilith cared all that much-no, she was too amused with her werewolf lover in front of her.
The change in height should have made Ventia look less intimidating but no, the woman stood her ground looking every bit as dangerous as she always did, even while a predator curled herself around her. "Lue, your tail." Ventia said absentmindedly and was rewarded with a soft caress between her legs by said tail. That was what made Ventia sigh and turn around.
A sly smile covered Lucrezia's red lips that still had the faintest scent of Ventia's blood. It was annoyingly adorable the way the other woman looked down at Ventia. Ventia found she had to look slightly higher than usual to see the brilliant shining eyes. "Are you sure she's going to be fine?"
Lucrezia rolled her eyes, "Katie's a big girl now Ve. She's never been a defenseless little girl-you personally made sure of that and yes, she has my protection. Therefore, anyone she chooses to bring with her-I think she's bringing that Reaver kid-also has my protection. Any supernatural being with any sense would feel my aura on her and they'll smell that shes a wolf. Put those together and with Katie's own reputation, well they'll know exactly who she is. After all, my lovely beast, you're quite respected by those underground. So yes, she's fine." Lucrezia moved forward, cupping her wolf's chin and enjoying the sight of Ventia's lips and her own red claws.
Ventia rolled a eye, "Are we making a appearance?"
Lucrezia nodded, her tail pulling Ventia closer until both women were snug against each other, her back muscles flexed and she noticed her wings had wrapped around them both, protecting them both from any threats. "We will," her voice had dropped to a caress, her red eyes now glowing in the space between them and casting a gentle red light on Ventia's face.
"But first..."

Katie pushed one pigtail away from her face as she walked down the path. It was a little chilly, the temperature being in the low sixties, and the wind kept hitting her with it-reminding her just what today was. Halloween! She giggled as she skipped over a broken branch, her pigtails jumping around her making her look more childish than ever. Well, then again, that was the whole point.
She wondered briefly if she would get a reaction out of Reaver. Of course, she knew that he was expecting her to go all out. No duh, this was Katie they were talking about. But she didnt think that he'd expect this from her. Katie was short-barely 5'5, with long straight black hair and clear blue eyes. She had pale skin-which looked whiter now because of the cold-and only one tattoo that was the matching one she had with Reaver.
Her costume? Daddy's Girl.
The pink and white stockings came to her upper thigh, making her tiny legs look a bit longer and softer. She wore black combat boots-the ones she always wore that had a few blood stains and dirt stains that she promptly ignored today. A black lace tutu that barely hid her private parts followed, along with a black long sleeve shirt that had 'Daddy's Girl' printed in a bright pink solid color. She had cut the shirt so that it showed off her stomach, and rolled up both of the sleeves. Her makeup? Perfect. Her eyes looked big and innocent with some eyeliner, mascara, and soft light tones for the eyeshadow. She added blush to her cheeks and her lips were pink and glossy. There were butterfly clips in her hair-adding on to the childish look and yes, she was currently carrying a stuffy-a little bear with floppy ears.
All in all? She looked like a cute little girl-a Daddy's girl.
She fingered the collar around her neck as she walked, smelling Reaver just ahead of her. The wind was working for her benefit tonight it seemed, so she slowed her footsteps, until there was no sound. Being a werewolf? That wasnt hard to do-to become one with the night. She could see Reaver's outline now, or the lanky figure that was half concealed with a flimsy white sheet. Her eyes glanced at his feet and she smiled to herself, amused.
She came up from behind him, coming out of the woods and glancing up around his shoulder. "Hey Daddy." She whispered into his ear, her voice small and kid-like, before jumping away around the tree with a little laugh. "Come on slowpoke!" She called, skipping ahead of him, and throwing Mr. Bear Bear in the air as she walked. The party was still a bit ahead and Katie couldnt let him hear the sudden rise in tempo of her heartbeat. He had smelled good-too good.
"You look adorable by the way," Katie finally turned her face towards him but kept walking, not at all surprised to see him by her side. "Are you excited?"

Jackson knocked on his bedroom door-which was quite ironic because this was his room and one needn't need to knock on one own's room but he knew the room wasnt empty. Rikara was in there. "Kara," He leaned against the wall by the door, hearing little sounds coming from it. "Rikara." He tried again, caressing the door knob with his long fingers. The little shit had been in there for way too long.
"That's it. I'm coming in and if your costume isnt fitting for you-I'll dress you up myself." A slow smile crept up his face-yes, Jackson would quite enjoy dressing Rikara up. A little fantasy bloomed in his mind and he had to quickly nib it before it made a appearance. Ever since Rikara had come back in his life, Jackson hadnt had time for any sexual pleasures he usually indulged himself with. Rikara needed his protection from his own clan-her dark powers were something he needed to constantly keep secret from those around him or else, her life would be in danger.
But then again, Jackson enjoyed spending time with Kara. On that thought, he twisted his door, feeling magic strike him the minute the door creaked open. The magic hit his own and it tingled as he passed through the barrier-had it been anyone else besides from him, the barrier would have either led the intruder to a different room or would just not let them pass.
"Kara, I do want to make a quick stop before we head over there." Jackson wore snug fitting black jeans, comfortable laced boots, with a loose buttoned up white shirt that was left half open, showing off his broad chest and his abs. He wore a bandara over his head, his hair was loose underneath and there was smudges of dirt and blood along his face and clothes. He had a few accessories on that completed the pirate look but Jackson kept it mostly simple this time around.

They were all at Nathaniel's new house-getting a few last things ready before they would all jump on Aiden's back and fly-yes fly-to the party. It helped having a dragon around at some times. Not that Aiden minded, sure it was quite strange to have some people other than Gem riding on his back but besides from that, they didnt mind. Plus, some of them were taking cars to the party and meeting them there.
Others were still getting ready.

Nikki sat in the back of the car just looking out the window wondering when Alex was going to realize he left Lance.
‘Maybe you should tell him?’ Came the deep guttural voice of the spirit wisp of her guardian. He was a rather large wolf, the biggest she’d ever seen and she always wondered what exactly he was. From what she knew of about her family history, he had to be one of her ancestors. She was brought out of her thoughts when Nick nudged her.
“Hey you think the furball noticed Lance isn't in the car?” He snickered.
Nikki sighed and was about to say something when Alex slammed on the brakes. “FUCK!”
“What the fuck man!?” Jason growled as he rubbed the area of his neck where the seatbelt snagged him. Nick flew into the back of the passenger seat and Nikki simply sat there politely trying to hide her grin.
Alex looked in the back seat and checked on the kids and sighed. “Nick, learn to wear a damn seatbelt.”
“Learn to freaking drive.” Nick grumbled. “What’d you say?” Alex growled low and lifted a brow. “Nothing.” Nick mumbled and sat back in the seat putting on his seatbelt. “How’d that seat taste?” Jason taunted. “How’d you like your costume?” Nick countered and Jason growled causing Nick to laugh.
“Lance. I forgot Lance. How the hell did I forget Lance?” He asked as he whipped a quick U-turn that caused even Nikki to gasp as he sped back to the pack territory.
“Wouldn't it better to call him? Im sure he has a phone. Everyone nowadays
‘You are fine young one’ Her guardian said to reassure her. “I am more worried about the others.”
‘Well I can not ensure their safety as I can yours, but I am sure they will be just fine’
“I hope you’re right.” Nikki said and sighed as she went back to looking out the window. ‘I wonder if Daddy is coming?’ She thought as Alex made a sharp turn.

Cian stood on his branch allowing his senses to stretch. He wasnt ok with having his lifemate come to such an event. There were so many dangers here, especially with the group that’s already here. Lady Ghost wouldnt allow anything to happen to her, he was sure. He was so wrapped up in his thoughts about Patient’s safety that he didnt even notice Zander’s quiet presence in his mind. “Already she has you wrapped around her finger.” He said with a grunt as he sat on his haunches beneath the branch Cian was standing on. Cian gave an imperceptible start that had Zander frowning.
“Cian you mustn’t allow your guard to be down. Your life is no longer your own and there are many who would love to strike and destroy a newly formed bond.” Zander said matter of factly because frankly he felt Cian was acting like a love sick idiot and he wasnt used to that.
“I am aware of this, Zander. None have come to this place to do any harm. I do not think Lady Ghost would allow something like that to happen here.” He said moreso to convince himself than Zander. Zander knew that it was futile to try and get through to Cian when his thoughts were so wrapped up around his mate. Zander just hoped and wished that if he ever found his lifemate they would be nothing like Cian and Patience.
Zander could feel Cian’s newfound emotions second hand. Cian would even allow him to see through his eyes so that he could once again see the beautiful and vibrant colors of the world around him. Zander appreciated Cian for that, it gave him a brief respite from the dreary gray that has been his world for centuries. It always sent a pain of through him because it was everything that he himself would never have again and he always closed off the connection before Cian could sense his change in mood.
Zander sighed and moved on with the conversation as he scratched behind his ear. “So, i hear the missus wants you to dress up. Are you going to do it?”
Cian sighed before answering. “I dont understand the need to “dress up”. Im not certain i even want to but she seemed so excited and set on it. How could i possibly say no to her when i just want to do everything i can to make and keep her happy?”
Zander scoffed and rolled his eyes. “She has you, as the humans like to say, Whipped.”
Cian couldnt help but laugh at hearing this.”The day will come when you have to deal with these things and you will be lost.” Zander grunted, before he could reply he sensed a change in Cian’s posture and his mood. “She’s here.” Cian said and jumped down from the limb.
He didnt want to but he decided he was going to dress up just so that he could see the way her face lights up when she saw him. The thought alone caused his heart to swell. Piece by piece he changed his clothing. She’d wanted him to dress up as the greek war god Ares though the only one that came to mind was the one he’d seen from the television shows Xena and Hercules. He was by far no God of war and the persona was beyond him but if it was for his mate then he would take on the persona.
His traditional Carpathian healer dress robes changed to leather pants, vest, and gauntlets all studded in silver with a pair of black boots. He wore his sword on a belt at his side and had daggers hidden on his person. Silver dangled from his ear and from the necklace around his neck. Zander padded up to him and gave him a look. For the briefest of moments he felt the shadow of amusement. He scoffed and shook his head. “She has you looking like a fool, Cian. A lovesick fool.”
Cian chuckled and and gave himself a once over. “Hmm, I dont know. Its not so bad once you get used to it. Besides, when you find your mate i will take pleasure in pointing out how she has you wrapped around her finger and have you whipped.”
Zander growled. “Do not wish such horrors on me, brother.” He said and walked off. Cian chuckled and followed him to one of the entryways so that they could meet up with Patience and those she brought with her. Though he was more interested in his mate.
As he walked he could feel his connection to her grow stronger and he couldnt help the smile that played on his lips as he reached out to her. ‘Hello o jelä sielamak(light of my soul). You bring much joy to this weary heart.’ He replied back to her as he sent a light brush as if to caress her cheek.
‘I can see you just beyond the bush, csitri(little one)’ He said as he continued forward more than ready to hold his mate in his arms. Zander kept to himself as he slid into his role as Cian’s guardian. ~*~
Jessi was bouncing in her seat as she drove to the designated area for the Halloween party. She had wanted to bring a few people with her but she herself was an invited guest and so she figured it would be rude if she did. She parked beside a tree and got out of her car straightening up her costume. She had decided to dress up as a sexy grey wolf. She checked her reflection in the window and straightened her hat loving how adorable her ears looked. She even did a twirl and played with her tail. She straightened her podotheca and grabbed her purse before heading through the bush path.
She walked through what felt like a weird barrier that made it feel like she was wading through sand waist deep. It actually made her heart race and felt as if she were suffocating. When she passed through she gasped trying to catch her breath. “What the fuck was that?” She gasped and looked back towards her car. “I wonder if anyone else experienced that?” She asked as she straightened up.
She heard some rustling nearby and slowly walked to check it out. “Hello..?” She called out hesitantly. She was still shaken from passing through the barrier and wasnt entirely sure of what she would find. When she was about a foot away a screeching cat launched out at her. She nearly jumped out of her skin. “Holy fuck!” She called out and stumbled backwards only to be caught by strong furry male arms.
“Whoa!” Came a very feminine chuckle that she knew all too well. “If you are getting this scared now then i dont think you should go any further.” She nodded to Tao to let her go and he did so with a scowl. He stepped back and stood beside Lady Ghost with his arms crossed flicking his tail in irritation.
“Lady Ghost?” Jessi asked tentatively happy that she could finally pair a face to the too familiar voice. Lady Ghost was really tall and had greek sandals that hugged her legs in a gentle caress but the tutu looked so cute on her. Her camisole seemed to hug her breasts making Jessi feel almost in adequate and her leather jacket looked very comfy. The cowboy hat, finished up the outfit. Jessi wasnt into females but damn Lady looked delectable.
“The one and only. I see you made it through the barrier.”
“So that’s what that was? It felt horrible.” Jessi said with a frown. Lady Ghost laughed.
“Well its not supposed to feel good. It was created to keep humans away. Only those invited are able to even pass through it. Though as you saw it still has some effects. But it’ll wear off soon.” Lady said waving the matter away as if it were nothing. “Cant just have random humans happening across the our gathering. You’d be surprised at how many go camping out here.” She said. Blade gently tapped her on the cheek to get her attention. It caught Jessi by surprise and she leaned closer to see him causing Tao to growl.
“Back up, girl.” He warned and Jessi nearly jumped back three feet.
“Sorry, i wasnt trying to do anything. I just wanted to see the doll on her shoulder. Is it animatronic?” She asked, stammering just a little.
“No he’s a demonic puppet who helps steal souls for his master.” Lady said over her shoulder as she walked down the path leading the way to where the party was.
“Wow youre going all out for this halloween party.” She said laughing not wholly believing her.
“Believe me, everything you see at this party very real. The sooner you figure that out and get used to it the better off and more fun you’ll have. Remember what i said, be on your guard and dont die.” Lady said and Tao scoffed.
“This ought to be interesting.”He said and shook his head as they headed to the party. Jessi was super excited to see what was going to come of her night. She was sure it would be unforgettable. ~*~ Sia and her pets showed up at another entry point and headed in. Mateo was ready to see the pups. Sia was ready to have some fun and Kori was well...Kori. her focus was Sia nothing else really mattered to her or surprised her at this point. It seemed as if there werent too many people there yet so they decided to go take a look around. Sia loved the decorations. As she was passing by one of the refreshment tables, She ran into Lucien who’d been bent over trying to get a few beers.
“C’mon what the hell?” He hissed then stood up glaring at Sia which caused Kori and Mateo to get defensive.
“Watch it mutts im not in the mood for your kind he said and his eyes glowed an eerie blood red. He gave a scary grin that stretched much too far to be normal. Massive bat wings tore through his clothes as they burst out. His hands turned to large claws, a long bone spiked tail flicked dangerously close to Kori and a pair of massive horns grew and curled backwards. He flexed claws and snapped his tail in anticipation of a fight and new souls to take.
Sia was mesmerized be him despite her nervousness. While Kori and Mateo were formidable, they recognized the very real threat for what it was but they would be defend Sia with their lives. “Oh come now, a man of your caliber getting worked up over something so trivial. Seems like it would be beneath you.” She said and gave him a sultry smile. She moved Kori and Mateo aside and behind her, to their disgruntled dismay, to keep them away from Lucien. Lucien chuckled at her actions seeing straight through them but decided to play along.
He gave her a once over and grinned. “You’re a business woman?”
“How could you tell?” She asked with a grin of her own.
“Its pretty apparent in the way that you carry yourself. I like that. Come Lets have a drink. “He said as his grin turned cocky. His grin faltered when his eyes turned to Kori and Mateo. “Tell your dogs to stand down before i add them to my collection.”
Sia gave a soft laugh that betrayed her nervousness and fear for her dearest loves. “Go play loves i will be fine.” She said wanting to have her babies as far away from Lucien as possible. Not wanting to leave her but not wanting to go against her orders, they reluctantly left her side to look around.
“Now, that drink.” Lucien said and held out an arm for Sia who accepted it with a blush. ~*~
Navi was dancing on the stripper pole that She’d put up when she felt a brush of power. It made her giddy and she giggled. “Oh so many interesting people are going to be here!” She wrapped her leg around the pole and leaned back as it twirled, causing her world to go around in circles.
She sensed someone coming to her area and and flashed from the pole to the entrance area that she was in charge of, wondering who might be coming her way. She took pride in her area. It wasnt as demonic as Lucien’s or as light hearted as Cian’s and Zander’s. It was for adult entertainment and boy did she have some entertainment for their asses. In her excitement her demon form overrode her human form, but she didnt care she still looked good. Her nurse’s dress was torn in the back where her wings had burst through and her little hat had fallen off to make room for her horns. But for the most part her costume stayed in place. The moonlight danced off of her marbled skin and her swirling mercurial eyes searched the area for those who had come her way.
She could feel them getting closer and couldnt contain herself. So without thinking, she burst through the bushes covered in blood and dirt, with ripped clothes and a demonic appearance. “Rawr! Come play with me and i’ll let you keep your soul!” She called out with a giggle and was only half playing around with the statement.

There was, indeed, a lot of protesting that flew out of Leo’s mouth. A lot of cursing. A lot of growling. A part of him wondered how in the world she had heard the conversation between him and Jua about that stupid party. Did she have super-human hearing? But then again, probably not; she apparently didn’t hear them talk about how it could be dangerous for any of them to go. Especially her. And he didn’t care if she could levitate things! She was still human! A very vulnerable human that could very possibly end up being fodder for the beings that were going to be there. He ended up in the kitchen chair, pulling his hair back in a low bun, shoulders slumped in defeat as she worked on his face. Despite his warnings and his initial “We’re not going” bit, Jailean cajoled him. Sweet-talked him. Gave him threats and promises. Of course, it didn’t help that Jua was all for going, too. As lazy as he was, he actually wanted to be out and about. It helped that Jailean dressed him up. If Jua had to do it himself, he more than likely would have been on Leo’s side.
But as he sat there, his nose curling every time the makeup brush passed over it, he heard Jua in the background pacing the living room floor with the cape over his nose. “I am … Dracula!” Jua said in the fakest accent ever. To which Leo could only roll his eyes.
“You are having too much fun with that.”
Finally, he huffed. “Still not a dog person.” The Wolf Man. A cat-shifter. Dressing as the first cinematic werewolf. (That he could remember. He didn’t watch much television. Sue him.) He’d (begrudgingly) give credit where it’s due. The irony of it was outstanding, and totally Jai. He wouldn’t say it to her face though. She didn’t need to get a big head.
Jua, finally letting go of his cape, held out his elbow in a gentleman fashion. “I’m not your Gomez, but I will escort you to the car, milady.” To which Leo scoffed and rolled his eyes. Jua still had that ridiculous accent that made his alpha want to rip his tongue out.
He hated Halloween.
*** The Constantine household was hustlin’ and bustlin’, alight with life and the Halloween Spirit. Even if Jewel wasn’t too particularly crazy about this holiday (she was a bigger fan of Christmas), she was glad that her family was having fun. With that in mind, she was glad that they didn’t do a costume-theme like she had originally thought of doing. For starters, there were too many people in the Constantine Clan to coordinate something to that high of a caliber. Not only that, but – she guessed – Halloween was a time to show some creativity. Being in a form-fitting deal like that didn’t sit well with her children, who were creative in their own ways. Hallie, especially, spent more than a few weeks on her costume. It took months. Seven, to be exact. Jewel didn’t want her to, but ever since Hallie saw her Aunty Lue’s ‘true form’ (Jewel wasn’t a big fan of the succubus, but who was she to judge?) Hallie decided that she was going to be Lucrezia for Halloween. Who was she to stop her daughter, strong-willed and hard-headed as she is? Jewel did, though, appreciate her dedication. Many tutorials on YouTube about applying horns to one’s head and contouring, bright red hair spray and red contacts, velvet-and-cardboard wings and a classic Devil’s arrow-tail all had a role to play in the Mini-Luecrezia costume. Hours of work, and studying the succubus without making it all awkward, all without having the desire to quit? Hallie was ultimately a go-getter.
Jewel, who was dressed as part of a couple’s costume (specifically, an Oreo half) looked at Hallie’s final project. Hallie held her head high, hands on hips and bright red press-ons gleaming in the light. It was hard to tell, under all of it, that Hallie was just a pup who looked to be in her early teens.
Jasper came in to the living room next, his sketchbook under his arm and a top-hat with steam-punk goggles super-glued to the felt on his head. He wore a Victorian-style suit, but had half his face painted (courtesy of his sister Thea) like he was made of gold-and-bronze gears and cogs. Jewel didn’t know that Thea was so skilled in makeup, but Thea merely shrug. “Someone taught me at the Guild.” To which Jewel nodded, thinking that it was a good reason as any. Yet she still didn’t understand why Thea’s costume was so simple.
Thea dressed as a cactus. A dark green sweater with white pipe cleaner glued to look like needles. She got the idea from Snapchat, but opted out of the flower-headband and switching out iron-on letters that spelled out in the back “Don’t Touch Me”.
On the last step, Thea stopped, did a twirl when Jewel motioned with her finger, then stepped down onto the hardwood floor. “Demi and Luc are coming. Give them a few more minutes.”
“Let them take their time,” Ludin said, not unkindly. He, himself, dressed as he used to. A Viking of old, but with a shield that was impaled by an axe that still hung from it. Strategically placed blood stains made him look dead, as well as tears in his fake armor. A bit of morbid humor for this night, he thought to himself. Especially when no one knew why he picked that outfit save for Harley, who knew only because she was his Colette reincarnated.
Gem was dressed as someone not of this realm. Gem knew of the clan that her maternal side of the family was born from. She was dressed as her ancestress, Lurne (Christened as Marie when she fell in love with Baele), who was manipulated by her sister-in-law Cerise and turned into a beast. Lurne was a warrior. Something that was unheard of for females to be in the Wolsar Clan at that time. Her hair was in a thick, messy braid with small animal fangs woven into it. On her right arm, from her finger tips to her shoulder, was a marking that – to a lot of people here – wouldn’t make sense. It was bright red, like freshly-drawn blood. The marking was strikingly similar to Aiden’s binding runes in the way it was drawn. But his runes showed a story, covering from neck to foot, that also kept him from turning into his true form. Her marking depicted a certain rank.
No doubt, there would be some that would ask, “What are you supposed to be?” Gem was really the only person to know exactly who she was. But she could only give a vague answer. At the same time she feels put out that Aiden would be the only one to know (not as precise as she) who she was, she felt better that she would be the only one dressed like her ancestress.
“Have you gotten plenty to eat?” Gem asked her mate, intertwining her fingers with his. “As much fun as this party sounds, I wouldn’t trust the food.”
*** Rikara had been in Jackson’s world for quite some time now, with no idea as to how to get home. During her time with him, she had gotten … used to her newfound magic. She could control the black swirls that surrounded her, crowding her like eager puppies. But just barely; it was as if they could tell that she wasn’t liking them all that much. Their rowdiness and curiosity were almost too much for her at times. Really, Jackson cared more for the magic that came from her than she did. When he opened the door, she felt the magic touch his, which came to her like a rush of small tingles that raised the hair on her arms.
Then they came back to her after salutations. Ready and waiting, like they always were.
Rikara didn’t know much about this holiday called … Halloween. Only that people “dressed up” in “costumes” for fun. “If you could be anything, what would you be?” Jackson had asked after the third time he tried to explain the whole concept. “An animal. A person. An abstract thought.”
Justice was what came to her mind. But then she thought, how cans you dress up like justice? So she decided on something close to that. A queenly version of herself. After all, a queen of her kingdom is the epitome of justice. There was very little crime in her kingdom, because the queen is sure that every one of her people are well taken care of. But when there is a crime, the queen does not wait on her advisors to give her iffy answers about whether the culprit’s crime was enough to warrant any severe punishment. The queen goes with her instincts.
The “costume” wasn’t hard to do. Upon her request, Jackson had given her a white gown, which was sleeveless and looked more like two pieces of cloth connected by see-through lace at the stomach. The bottom piece only covered until about mid-thigh. It showed all of her markings. The yellow feathers to represent the Air; the blue wave-like squiggles that centered around her belly button like it had been a pebble that disturbed the water to represent the Sea; and green leaves and petals that went all the way to the tops of her slim feet to represent Ground. Her hair was done in an intricate braid wrapped around her head like a headband. The silver marking on her forehead, the one that stated she was a princess, had been gone over with a gold eyeliner, changing her status for the night with only minor changes.
She ignored Jackson’s first knock. At the second, she glanced at the door, then dismissed him as she drew the new marking down past her temples where her princess marking ended. Just as soon as he gave his threat, she had put her pen down. Without her consent, her cheeks flamed; she didn’t know whether he was joking or not, but just the thought of Jackson being so intimate with her had her heart fluttering and robbing her breath a little. Was it because he was part … incubus? Or was it something else…?
No. She refused to think that. She shook her head and exited the bathroom, a frown on her face, just as soon as Jackson opened the door. “I am ready,” Rikara said, clearing her throat before she did so that Jackson didn’t know how much he had shaken her with just those few words. And how much she hated herself for forgetting about her betrothed at home. “No need to make such a fuss.”
Rikara, took a few seconds to look at what Jackson had dressed himself as. He said that he was going as a pirate, but she hadn’t been sure what a pirate looked like. Until now, of course. Did all pirates look like this? She wondered to herself. There was no doubt of Jackson’s masculinity and handsomeness. But she wondered if her attraction was because of the costume, or from something that had been harboring in her, waiting until now to show up and ruin everything.
“Where?” she asked, suspicion evident in her voice. “Where do you want to go?”
*** There were many “Greek god” costumes that she saw in the stores and online, but all of them were … generic, with the laurel wreaths on the heads and the white gowns and the (rather fake) sandals that were supposed to go up to the knees but never actually do. To make the outfit that Patience wore strictly stand out as a goddess of love’s attire, she had a tailor make a traditional chiton, a dress made from linen and dyed the same pale blue of her dragon skin. Her hair cascaded to the middle of her back, as dark as the trees in the forest back in the faerie realm with white shells woven into her locks. Along with her Dragon’s Eye necklace, a thin gold chain rested just above her collar bone with the pendant of a dove, of Aphrodite’s animal symbols.
Knowing that Cian would be there, she took extra care to look the part without offending the very real Greek goddess. She never did that with Xavier or Griffin or the Court’s own bachelors. Actually, she had told herself that whoever was her mate, she wouldn’t melt like a puddle like she was currently trying not to do right now. She was a princess of a kingdom that would find your weaknesses and exploit them. Nemus had warned not to show such affection; Patience hadn’t had a problem until Cian came into her life. She remembered the first time they met, and the few days afterward.
She had accused him of being a warlock, and demanded that he release her from the spell he had cast on her. It was only then that Patience fully understood that it wasn’t him that did it, but a mix of herself and Fate. It had taken some time to get used to, but she did.
After she had sent the word to Cian, the troupe stopped and waited on Nemus’s word. (It wasn’t Nemus that told them to, no, but Patience, who had gotten so used to letting her hound speak for her that even in her closest circle she didn’t bother to talk.) They waited for at max a minute; in that time, Patience made sure that the glamour that covered her skin was in place, and she merely looked human. The utter sadness that she always felt when they were apart had slipped away, being replaced by first anticipation, then unbridled happiness. She didn’t see him yet, but knew that he was getting closer to her. She had to keep herself from launching from her spot to search for him, which was so uncharacteristic of her. The princess couldn’t help but smile, though at his terms of endearment. She wasn’t exactly sure what he said to her, but how he said it made the frozen heart that she used to have warm just a bit more every time he did.
You always flatter me, she murmured to him demurely, using the proper voice of a royal woman. Then her heart stopped for a beat when he said that he could see her. Patience worried childishly if he liked what he saw, and wondered if he had dressed up himself (even though he didn’t want to).
Her eyes finally caught him, coming toward them on silent feet. She couldn’t help it; she smiled. In the pit of her belly, a bout of butterflies fluttered restlessly when her gaze locked on his. As always, the dragon part of her took note of how sapphire-like his eyes were. The rest of her appreciated what she saw. It didn’t even matter what Cian wore. She would think him undeniably handsome. And undeniably hers.
“Oh gag me,” she heard her brother murmur, but she paid no mind as she met him halfway. It took all of her will power to run to him, burrowing deep in his embrace that she would no doubt receive from to dispel any remaining traces of heartache due to their separation. But when they finally met, her smile grew bigger. She even let her pearly teeth show. “I know that armor doesn’t represent you correctly, but it still looks good.”

She couldn’t help but laugh and grin at it all. Leo was being a grumpy old man and Jua was acting like a child. She loved his Dracula impersonation and, truth be told, Leo’s grumpiness kind of fit with his Wolf Man costume. All he had to do was snarl a little bit more and it would be perfect, but she dared not voice that to him. That’s be pushing it too far, even for him.
Her bright red lips twisted into that iconic Morticia smirk as she linked her arm with Jua’s. “Oh, Count. Such a gentleman,” she spoke in her impersonation, glancing back at Leo with that same smirk, which grew into a wide grin as she told Jua to “Lead the way,” and followed all the way to the car. She sat at the back, as she always did, and giddily bit at the inside of her cheek as she watched the houses go by till the town went out of view and the forest engulfed them.
The last rays of sunlight fell out over the horizon as they drove. Her eyes constantly moved from Jua to Leo and then outside to the trees and trees. How far this place was, she didn’t know. She didn’t know much about where they were going beside knowing that there would be a Halloween party. And for the party? All Jailean could gather was that it was hosted by powerful beings for powerful beings. Some humans allowed, yeah, preferably under escort. Which, of course, was where Jua and Leo came in. Escort. Not that she expected anything bad to happen, but if need be and she had to defend herself, then she would.
But it was a party! Who went to a party to start trouble. And if the host was as powerful as she’d been led to believe, then there really was no way there would be any incidents happening tonight. Not inside her property. She wanted to meet all the people. Besides, it wasn’t like she was fully out of place. She could levitate things! Sure, she wasn’t a wisp or werewolf or lion or vampire or whatever hundred other things there were in the world, but Jailean was every bit as paranormal as they were.
The car pulled over. Finally. She stepped out after them two and took in a deep breath of air. She hadn’t been out to the woods since they got to town and thus she’d forgotten just how much she liked the outdoors. Telling herself that she had to go out hiking and camping sometime soon, she twisted on her spot and looked up to Jua and Leo. “Well, then?” she placed her hands on her hips. “I certainly don’t feel like waiting a moment longer. I bet you we’re already late. I, for one, don’t intend to have Morticia arrive late to a party.” Jailean faced out to the direction she, assumed, would be the way to go.
Two steps in, Jailean suddenly gasped as the breath got knocked out of her lungs and a sudden feeling of vertigo overcame her head. She had to stop and wobble against a tree while she tried catching her breath. “That,” she whispered as she took in another breath of air, “was very unpleasant.” Jailean straightened up before either of them could have come closer and brushed off her dress with her hands. She coughed, shook her head, shook her arms a little, and finally smiled once more. The feeling of vertigo was gone and her breath had come back to her. “Alright then,” she spoke. “Let’s go for real now.”
~*~*~*~
The hair on the back of his neck stood on its end and a cold hard chill shilled its way from his neck to the lower end of his spine. Reaver sucked in a hard and sharp breath of air as he stood up from the tree stump as fast as he possibly could. A curse almost left his lips but he bit them shut as his foot anxiously tapped hard and fast against the ground. Reaver had to close his eyes and take in a deep breath of air. His heart was racing fast, beating hard against his chest and his ears.
The woman knew. God she knew and he hated it so much. Always abusing his inability to hear or smell things like she did. It didn’t help he’d been so focused on the trail he hadn’t even expected Katie to come around from the side. Of course, she was going to scare him. “Katie I swear I – What the fuck?”
Reaver had to blink twice, taking it all in for the few seconds that she hung around close enough for him to get a good look at Katie. He expected… something. He knew she’d be surprising him, and surprise she did. Every year she outdid herself with the costumes, unlike him who only went from bad to worse to terrible as the years went by. But… “Holy shit, Katie,” he murmured, running to catch up to her as she skipped away.
It gave him a good view of her from behind. The ponytails that bounced with every one of her steps. The black shirt. The tutu – the very short tutu that made him gulp. Stuffed teddy bear. The contrasting pink and white stocking. Shit. The only thing that looked out of place were her combat boots, then again he couldn’t recall a time that she didn’t wear those damned boots. As he caught up to her with a huff, flip flops flopping with every step, he turned his head and took a better look at her front.
“Daddy’s Girl.” Reaver wanted to laugh as much as he wanted to make fun of her, but really, he was just left speechless. She nailed down every detail. From a distance, she could have very easily been mistaken for a child, even from up close, but one just had to look a little more to see it went beyond that. He shook his head, taking in a chilly breath of air. “Wow,” was all that came out of his mouth in those few seconds as he reached out from under the blanket covering his body to take a hold of her hand. It was a mindless act by now, done so whenever the two walked side by side.
He could help the blush on his face, thankful it was hidden by his awful costume. The last thing he needed was for her to be making fun of him for that. “First of all,” he began, in the same way he always began right before he was about to go off on a ranting tangent. It made him grin. Once Katie had pointed out that habit to him he couldn’t not grin. It almost become something of an inside joke between the two. “I’ll have you know that my costume is NOT adorable. It’s spooky! Look at your skin. You’re all pale. Like paper. It’s almost as if,” he snickered, “you’ve seen a ghooooost.” He spun as he walked, almost tripping over his sandals, stumbled, and chuckled to himself as he regained pacing with Katie.
She walked so silently and gracefully, even as she skipped around in her childish persona. Reaver, no matter how hard he tried, couldn’t help but step around loud and clumsily. It spoke of their contrasting natures, but he’d grown used to it as well. Reaver couldn’t have hid in the woods even if his life depended on it. Katie could have blended in to her surroundings in the middle of the day, and to add to it, she would have had him pinned to the ground with a knife to his throat before he even realized that the soft whiff of air brushing against the back of his neck wasn’t actually air, but Katie teasing at skin with the tip of her finger before pushing him down. Reaver hated it and he loved it as well.
“Secondly,” he continued. “Hell yes I’m excited! Thanks for the invitation. It was starting to get all boring in the apartment.” He shrugged. “I kind of figured you’d be inviting someone else. So thanks.” He grinned and lifted the blanket until he exposed his chin, nose, and lips, but still hid his eyes. There was a toothy grin on his face and since he’d just recently shaved his jaw was smooth, if not slightly prickly at best. “Thirdly, you loser. You’re going to catch a cold exposing your stomach out like that. But it looks good, so there’s that.” Reaver’s grin widened as he let go of the blanket to let flop back down in front of him, once again covering his whole body to only expose his feet and his eyes. “By the way, you feel that thing on the way in?” Reaver shook his head. “I almost vomited trying to make my way in. That’s a barrier, right?” Reaver huffed. “I don’t think those things are tuned to mutts like me,” he murmured, laughing as he straightened out his back mid-gait. “Come on and hurry, before we’re late, little girl.”

Lance had sneaked out of his home just when everything was starting to get hectic. It wasnt like that was a hard thing to do-every since he was little Lance had always been one of the silent ones. He observed and watched and stored information into his head despite not truly understanding. His memory was surperb and he learned-fast. Lance didnt find himself strange-yes, he was as rowdy as his brother and could feel things and see things just like his sister-but he knew he was a little strange to others but he himself didnt feel it. Couldnt see what was the problem to try and act different-in favor of fixing it.
He scaled the walls outside his bedroom, dressed normally because he didnt really want to dress up as anything. He had options in his head-countless cartoon characters flashed through his brain and yet, he didnt know. Didnt like any of them hard enough to want to dress up like them. He had peeked into his sister's and brother's rooms earlier and could see that they knew. Lance didnt know.
He needed more information. He thought briefly of just asking the grownups here but no. Not here. He needed someone else. Someone who knew and could see Lance for who he was. Or should. He hoped so. The soles of his feet touched the earth and he crept along the back, keeping close to the building, making sure to barely breathe and keep his heartbeat relaxed as he dashed from shadow to shadow, tree to root, from one cover to another until he knew he was far enough to run.
There was something about this house that smoothed him, Lance thought as he placed his hand against the willow tree. Energy swelled around his hand and it brushed against him like a caress. He moved on, lifting himself to the landing, and knocking swiftly. It wasnt long before his father opened the door.
Lance watched, mute, as Darian took him in. The man's eyes were of the same emerald that flickered in his own eyes. Darian was also quiet-like him. Lance had noticed it from the moment he met the man and...it stayed. Constant.
"Hey kid," Darian opened the door and that was all the invitation that Lance had needed. He walked into the home, his nostrils expanding as if searching....there. He turned towards his father and there was understanding in his green eyes-as if he knew. Why did he always know?
"Your mother has some interesting stuff in the back, I'm sure we boys can figure something out between the two of us. Something cool, yeah?" Darian walked down Eliora's house-the house he now stayed at-as if any day now it wouldnt just be his children showing up at his doorstep-but his mate as well. As he walked, he sent a text to Jason, telling him to swing by his house since that was where Lance was. Darian knew of the Halloween party for a few weeks now and it wasnt hard to put two and two together.
"What do you think she would want me to be."
Darian paused, glanced down at the growing boy, and then ruffled his hair. "Ah, well..."

"When did my house become a zoo?" Nathaniel scratched his head and spoke into the fairly empty bathroom that he was in. He hadnt come in here to hide even though the bathroom was a hiding spot for both him and Jewel-no, he was here because little Luc was testing out the glow in the dark makeup that Nathaniel just finished putting on.
Nathaniel watched his son look at himself in the mirror, moving his head this way and that way to make sure the eerie Jack Skellington face looked both realistic and scary from each angle. His clothes glowed as well, showing just parts of the Tuxedo and dress pants that made the boy in front of him look disturbingly similar to the Halloween character. He flashed his teeth at the mirror and canines spread out instantly and slowly a glow started to penetrate the glass. It wasnt part of the character but Luc liked added a little of him here and there.
Nathaniel flipped the lights off, folded his arms as menacing as his could while dressed up as a oreo and met Luc's black and hallowed eyes through the mirror. For the hundredth time, Lucian laughed and the boyish joy that instantly filled the blonde's face made Nathaniel's heart swell. "Yes, yes, you look quite scary now go scare your mother for me while I check in on Demi," Nathaniel opened the door, allowing all the noise from outside to fill in the room. He watched as Luc grabbed the top hat (one of Nate's actually) and then practically run out and down the stairs-intending to find his mother and do just that-scare her.
Nathaniel shook his head and moved deeper into the floor, into another room to where Thea, Jasper, and Dimitri had been. Thea and Jasper were nowhere in sight but there was Dimitri-standing in front of the full length mirror just like Luc was. He met brown eyes in the mirror and the little joker turned around to face him.
"Dad, how does it look?" Dimitri had long boyish dark brown hair that came down to his chin-that hair was now dyed green. Dyed. The boy had dyed his hair green. Nathaniel took in Dimitri, in the way his right lip stretched out, red staining the skin as it went up into a split laugh, the pale face, the darkened crazy eyes, and the attire that could only belong to the mad man. Dimitri smiled then, cocking his head, and the look seemed almost as insane as the real Joker.
Nathaniel didnt quite like easy it was for Demi to get into character. Was he even in character? Nate nodded, a proud smile on his face, "Like the real mad man." His honestly seemed to please Dimitri because he nodded once in agreement and started walking out. Nate followed, but not before knocking hard on Harley's closed bedroom door as in a reminder to hurry up.
"Come on Princess," Nate called as he followed Dimitri down the stairs, taking them by two. It ended up being a race between father and son-and Nate of course won.

Jackson took Rikara in with one glance. He forced himself not to stare, not to let his gaze linger like they wanted to. No, she had been clear with him already. That she had a betrothed back in that damn realm of hers. She didnt want him anymore-like they did when they were younger. It was hard to ignore her though, ignore what they had been-what they had shared together all those years ago but he too had changed. And he knew she detested him in a way that he couldnt change. He had accepted that and thought all was well, until now.
This was what she was supposed to be. A Queen of her own kind-unlike any other. Blessed with the protection and love of the elements and of nature. She was pure. She was royalty. He was nothing. A pirate. It seemed fitting. Because pirates always stole the rarest gems of all-and Rikara was quite priceless.
"Must you know everything?" Jackson flicked a eyebrow before stepping close to Rikara. He was close enough that he smelled her, could feel her power and magic sliding against his, and her warmth. He wrapped a arm around her waist as he always did whenever he wanted to get somewhere fast. Transportation. She knew this and he enjoyed knowing that even if she wanted to, she couldnt deny him this nearness. So he soaked it up while remaining expressionless. His face gave away nothing. Not even his eyes told her what she wanted to know.
In the moment, they were outside and leaning next to a white fence. A black cat balanced on it a few feet away and at their arrival, the cat stretched and lifted its legs, walking now towards then-on the fence. He rubbed his face against Jackson's shoulder and then jumped on, balancing himself before curling around the back of Jackson's neck. His blue vibrant eyes took in Rikara and he yowled at her, knowingly.
They were gone and then Jackson eased away from Rikara at the beginning of the barrier. He could have popped into the house but that would have been rude, and guests shouldn't be rude. Jackson made sure to pick his battles wisely. He held out his arm for her, as they did in court, because he wanted to escort her. The cat jumped off from his shoulders and walked without a word, through the barrier and toward the house.
"Shall we?" Jackson asked, his arm still outstretched for her, as if waiting for her fingers to curl onto his elbow.
"Or does the Princess think I'm unworthy of being her escort?"
-
Oh yes, this was worth it. Katie stood still in those few seconds after she jumped into his view, because she knew it would hit him and she wanted to see his reaction. It was hard to tell just how much it had affected him because of the damn ghost sheet, but she had trained to use every little thing to her advantage so she knew. She could see what he felt in the way he held himself, or way his heart sped up, or the changes in his scent, of way he moved his body towards her, of his eyes-two different colors that held the same secrets.
It worth it. This, sneaking up on him had scared him enough that he couldnt had hidden it from her. She noticed that he tried, he regulated his heartbeat a few seconds after the shock wore off, he regulated his breathing, and loosened his body, letting out a little breath here and there. His shoulders relaxed and his eyes started to hide the emotions he currently was feeling. At his 'holy shit,' comment, Katie hid a secret smile to herself and skipped away.
"Flip-flops?" She asked when he finally caught up, her own blue eyes doing nothing to hide the glee that danced in them.
When he took a closer look, Katie cocked her head adorably to the side, straightening her spine as she felt his gaze go down her body. It was warm and his wow comment made the tip of her ears burn. She opened it didnt show and if it did, she'd blame it on the cold but she knew he would know. Fingers brushed hers and Katie was happy for the warmth of his hand. It cooled her cold fingertips-his hands. She started to swing their hands together, just gently in tune to her other hand that was swinging Mr. Bear Bear's hand as Reaver made his speech.
After all, all good little girls had to let their Daddies talk first.
It wasnt that hard, Katie loved being with Reaver. She giggled at his cluminess, in the back of her head she was already scanning the area around her-looking for threats or delights, and also being attune to Reaver, making sure he wasnt actually going to hurt himself. She really wasnt, she still had a hold of his hand and she didnt let go, so when he twirled, she twirled with him, giggling.
"Stop!" She laughed, it felt good to laugh with Reaver, to relax and chill. He always made her do that, let her relax enough to be herself. Maybe it was because he was so himself no matter what. People always tried to act differently in certain stages in life or in different environments-but not Reaver. Reaver never tried to be anyone but himself and Katie loved that about him.
Sure he had personal feelings on his lack of senses and inability to shift but Reaver never let that change him. It was why he had a stupid sheet on his head with uneven holes for eyes that he added little touches here and there that mostly no one would care about for him, it meant something. It was something. Every little disruption of the white cloth with a blood stain or tear added to him. She loved it, that silent something. Maybe no one else could see it, but Katie did. She enjoyed it. Didnt want anyone else to see what she did.
The warmth in his hands brought her out of her mind and she was forced to think again, to push out her senses and keep them in back of her mind, constant. She lived for these little moments where everthing went quiet. It was saying something that most of the time, she only felt it with Reaver.
She took in his clothes underneath the sheet and saw herself there, snug against him, curled up like a kitten. It looked inviting and she couldnt quite stop herself from teasing him more. The fading blush on his cheeks urged her on and she wasnt one to back down from saying what was on her mind.
"If I get cold, I'll just wiggle myself in under that sheet of yours, Daddy." Oh yes, she was staying in character. "I'm sure Daddy wont mind, will you? Nahhh," She bumped her shoulder into his gently, just making his steps falter just the slightest. The house was just in front of them now, and her senses overwhelmed her. She didnt stop walking though and started to filter through the scents, figuring out just where she should made a appearance.
"What thing?" Katie asked and then slightly remembered the tingly feeling. "Ah, the barrier? Yeah, no biggie." She glanced up at him, her lips pursed. "Oh dont exaggerate. It wasnt that bad at all and you still act like you're human. You got magic in those big bones of yours." She poked his ribcage, not wanting him to think too much about it. And if he was already laughing, she knew it bothered him.
Without thinking, she squeezed his fingers gently but firmly, feeling something slide up her spine as the warmth blossomed in her hand. She hid her smile with a giggle. "Oh please, this is Halloween. No one is gonna be on time. Havent you learn? The real scary business is when the night gets quiet and all the good little people go to sleep, leaving all the monsters out to play." She turned her head up to him, looking herself like a innocent person, before smiling. Her teeth were the same and yet, there was something in her eyes as she smiled and in that split moment, she looked more predator than prey.
"Come on," she giggled, leaned more into him as they walked up the few steps of the porch to where there was already quite a few people ahead.
"You ready for a fun night, Reaver? Oh Daddy of mine?"

Eliora ran her hands down her clothes in a nervous manner as she stood in the shadows near the refreshment table. She didnt want to bring too much attention to herself still unsure if it was ok for her to be here. For a brief moment she wondered if her family would be here. Although she was sure her children would have no clue as to who she was, it would still be nice to see them.Thoughts of her family brought back the conversation she’d had with Lady Ghost. For the past few years that she’d been with Black Ash, she’d never been able to contact anyone from the spirit world. All gateways repelled her, but then again she wasn’t the one to initiate contact. It was Lady Ghost. Eliora had been walking and gathering herbs when the woman appeared before her. ~~~ “Hello Eliora.” She said in a regal manner.
“Hello Lady Ghost.” Eliora said with a slight bow of her head.
“You are looking well.” She said trying to make idle conversation causing Eliora to sigh and put down the tools she was using.
“My lady, what is it that you want?
“Nothing too big I assure you. I am throwing a Halloween party and I’m wanting everyone to come.” She said with a shrug.
Eliora fought not to roll her eyes but the goddess could be so damn insufferable sometimes.
“My Lady, I would not be good company. Why put me in the midst of others knowing what i am and what i can do?” She asked with a sigh. Lady Ghost waved her off as if her concerns wasnt major. Eliora had to bite back a growl.
“That is minor. Do you really think that i would allow trouble in my presence? For fucks sake, children will be there.” Lady Ghost rolled her eyes. “The troubles of mortals can be rather entertaining but i am wanting to have a bit of fun and i don't want anything to ruin that. So fear not little puppy your fangs wont pierce flesh.”
Eliora wanted to ignore her but knew that she couldn't. Lady smacked her teeth when Eliora took too long to respond. “My dear you are not grasping what i am offering.”
Eliora bit back another growl. It was definitely better to just deal with her. “Ok fine, how will this work? Aside from allowing me to join your party, what are you offering and what do you want in return?”Eliora asked trying to keep the skepticism from her voice though it was tough.
Lady Ghost merely looked at her and lifted a brow. Eliora stood and wipe off her clothes then placed her hands on her hips. “Always the stubborn child.” Lady Ghost muttered before answering Eliora’s questions.
“I can make it where you are able to safely be able to be around others without worrying about your bloodlust piquing, you losing control , or even your Shadow self. Granted that doesn't mean that I can get rid of it. Because of your circumstances, i can't intervene on that level, that’s above my pay grade. Not that i get paid.” Lady Ghost said with a small frown though muttering that last part. Eliora rolled her eyes.
“I can bestow upon you a couple gifts.” She said brightening up a bit. She held out her hand and a necklace appeared. Eliora watched in pure surprise. “This necklace is a special one, obviously. It has green aventurine beads with a citrine pendant hanging from the middle. You know the effects of both crystals, right? One reduces negative thoughts and emotions while the other transmutes negative energy ”She asked as if Eliora was an idiot.
Eliora gave her a droll look causing Lady Ghost to laugh. “Right.Anyway, this will keep your issues at bay as long as you wear it. “She said tossing regality out the window as she handed the necklace to Eliora, though when Eliora hesitated Lady Ghost placed the necklace around her neck. As the crystals touched her skin, Eliora gasped and tears fell down her face.
there was a sharp pain in her heart then it felt as if the very world had been lifted from her shoulders. “Now there are things you should know. It wont repair your hollowed and broken soul but it will grant you a little peace. It will allow you near the spirit portals but you can not pass through them. During the full moon, under Luna’s supervision, you must charge the necklace using the energy from a spirit portal. If the necklace is damaged in anyway, it weakens its effectiveness.” Lady Ghost gave Eliora a very sad and sympathetic look as she gently wiped the tears from her eyes.
“Thank you.” Eliora said softly as she wiped the rest of the tears away before gently touching the necklace. She had no words.
“What I am offering you is a chance at a semi normal life where you are able to be with your family, both mortal and spirit. What i ask i return is very simple. When i call on you you answer without hesitation and do as youre told.” Lady Ghost said nonchalantly as if she didnt just tell Eliora that she was a slave to her.
Eliora looked up at her and growled. “I knew there was a catch.” Eliora wondered if being indentured to her was even worth it.
Lady Ghost laughed at her. “Hell yea there’s a price. Do you think something this valuable would come without strings attached? Besides, its not like you dont do what's asked of you anyway. This way you at least get something out of it.” She said with a shrug. Eliora sighed. She had a point but that didnt mean she liked it.
“Okay okay fine.”Eliora said in irritation.
“Excellent. One more thing before we seal the deal. That necklace is like a collar and leash of sorts. It allows me to summon you to me if you dont answer my call. It can be a harsh on the mortal system. So be a good dog and come when called.” Lady Ghost said and laughed whole heartedly.
“That shit was not fucking funny and dont ever say that again.” Eliora snarled causing Lady Ghost to laugh even harder. “Oh this is going to be fun.” She said happily. “Alright, let’s seal this deal and get things underway. Come, let me kiss you.” She said and before Eliora could respond, she pulled Eliora into her arms and kissed her. Though it took Eliora a moment to realize that she had been kissed beneath her left eye. There was a slight burning sensation that had come and gone.
“Wha-?” Eliora stammered.
“Ok now that that's out of the way. Time for that first request. Of course i want you to go to my party. I dont care what you do when you get there, i just want you to come, but you must dress. That's nonnegotiable.” And with those last words Lady Ghost vanished. ~~~ Eliora sighed at the memory and for the umpteenth time. She could definitely feel Lasy Ghost’s presence here along with some others. She’d decided to dress up as Kida from The Lost City of Atlantis. It was one of the movies she and Casey loved to watch together. Her white hair had been straightened and hung down her back. The blue and gold of her costume matched the blue and gold of her eyes. She touched the area just below her eye where Lasy had kissed her and left her mark. She wondered if the woman did it on purpose. She didnt know who all would be at the party but a small part of her was hoping she would see some familiar faces.

“Kid you need to socialize with people. This is getting ridiculous.” Kymani said with a growl as they walked through the forest.
“All they are going to do is hurt me.” Casey responded and sniffed a tree before marking it. Casey was a grown man but he still had the mindset and mannerisms of a child and so the nickname stuck.
“Cut the shit , kid. Youre acting like a brat. Shit happens.”
“Why do you want to be around other people all of a sudden anyway?” Casey asked as he kicked up dirt. He was in Tu’tanka’s body as Kymani occupied his.
“I heard about this banging party Lady Ghost is having and she wanted everyone to go.“
“You know that i dont do well with people.” Casey said hanging his head low as Kymani scratched behind his ears. “I know but what better way to try?Besides there’s going to be lots of food.” Kymani said trying to entice entice him with the thought of food.
“I would imagine there would be especially with so many people supposedly going.” Casey said with a laugh.
“Alright smart ass.” Kymani growled though couldnt help the laugh that came along with it.
“Will it be fun?” Casey asked looking up at him.
“It’s a party, of course it will be fun.” Kymani said with confidence he didnt really feel. He’d never been to anything like the party that Lady Ghost was throwing but Casey needed to be around other people. Socialization is just as important for people as it is for wolves and Kymani had been trying to get the kid to understand and see that but he was stubborn as shit and balked at the idea . Understandably the kid had some issues with people, but Kymani needed him to at least put forth some effort.
“C’mon Casey, dont fret so much. You’ll have fun. Besides Lady Ghost kinda invited us.” Kymani said rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. “Besides, that’s one woman i dont want to piss off.” He said with a chuckle. ~Hours later~ “I change my mind, I dont want to do this.” Casey said as he nervously played with his head band. He had decided to dress up as Tarzan with a headband to keep his hair out of his face.
‘Too late you’re already here so suck it up, have fun, and socialized.’ Kymani replied. Casey felt bare without his animal counterparts accompanying him.
‘The pack will be fine. Tu’tanka will take care of the pack until you return.’
“Youre right.” Casey agreed then paused when he heard voices. His anxiety was trying to go into overdrive.
‘Take a deep breath and calm down. You can do this kid.’ Kymani reassured him. Casey took deep breaths and and started to walk towards the sound of the voices. It felt as if someone had hit him in the gut and his skin crawled then suddenly it was gone.
“What the fuck was that?” Casey asked rubbing his arms as a cold shiver went through him and he tried not to puke. Soon as the moment passed.
‘It may have been some sort of barrier to keep humans out, you know?’ Kymani suggested It made sense seeing as how Casey was half human.
“Are you sure its ok for me to be here?” Casey asked for the millionth time. “Kid, its a party you were invited to. If things get iffy, you know i got you, but until then have fun, talk to some girls or get drunk or something.I dont know but we’re not leaving anytime soon.”
Casey sighed and mentally braced himself as if he were going into the lions’ den. Kymani tried hard not to laugh.

Nick was killing himself laughing at Alex who was growling the entire way back. Nikki smiled while looking out the window. ‘How do you deal with them?’ Her guardian asked and she gave a soft chuckle. “Im used to it.”She said giving them a loving look.
Jason was on the verge of saying something to Nick when Alex made a sharp turn. He glared at Alex but said nothing. Then his phone range. After a few minutes he hung up and sat back comfortably in his seat.”He’s with Darian. You can chill now.” He said lifting a brow at Alex when he went from growling to angry mutterings which caused a new bout of laughter from Nick. “They are at Eli’s place.” Jason said softly and the car grew silent as everyone weint into their private thoughts.
It was like that for the rest of the ride back to the house. Once Alex got there, it took him a moment to gather himself and his thoughts before he blew the horn. “Tonight is going to be a good night.” He muttered to himself almost as if to convince himself of that fact.
“You want me to go get them?”Nick asked in an unusually serious tone.
“Daddy’s coming?” Nikki asked with a big smile as she pictured her father dressed up.
“I’m sure he will tag along, if only to keep Nick out of trouble so Jason dont kill him.” Alex said with a smile as he looked back at Nikki. He spared a look at Jason and Nick. “Tonight is my night off from all of that craziness.” He said with a chuckle trying to lighten the mood and be rid of the melancholic atmosphere in the car.
Alex blew the horn again before calling out to them. “Alright folks, get your assees in gear and get moving!” ~*~
Cian couldnt help the smile that played on his lips at the sight of his mate. She was so beautiful and rivaled the very goddess she dressed as , in beauty. She lit up his world in ways he wasnt sure she would ever completely comprehend. Goddess of love indeed. Passing through the bushes , Cian and Zander came into complete view of the group. For a moment they both simply stared at them.Zander sat on his haunches and tilted his head in confusion. If he were in his human form he’d definitely have a raised brow and a weird look on his face.
‘I take back my words, Brother. THEY look rediculous.’ He replied along their shared blood link and Cian chuckled. Zander called forth a mist to cover himself as he transformed into his human form. He wore blue jeans and a white T-shirt.He didnt bother with shoes, wanting to keep some direct contact with the earth. He stuck his hands in his pocket and gave Patience a slight nod. “Hello little sister.”
Cian walked over to Patience and reached out to pull her into his arms. “It is my duty and pleasure to ensure that lifemate knows the how much she means to me.” He said and smiled down at her. ‘I felt your uncertainty and worry. You need not worry so much csitri. You are beyond beautiful. The goddess you portray would be honored. Imitation a sign of flattery, is it not?’He asked as he spoke to her along their private link. He bent down with the intent to kiss her wanting to taste the unique essence that was purely Patience, before straightening once more.
“Shall we join the party?” He asked as he looked at the group. Zander went on guard when he sensed someone unfamiliar coming their way causing Cian to put himself in front of Patience to keep her out of harm’s way.
Casey’s steps were hesitant and he paused when he saw the group and how many people was in it. He felt out of place and super nervous. ‘Are you sure about this Kymani?’ He asked the wolf and Casey recieved and image of the large black wolf yawning and laying his head on his paws. ‘Go have fun , kid. Say hey.’ And with that Kymani closed his eyes pretending to be asleep. Casey sighed and took a step closer though stopped when he heard one of the men growl.
His instinct was to return the growl but he took a deep breath and waved. “Hi, I’m Casey.”
Cian placed a hand on Zander’s shoulder and spoke to the male. “Hello Casey, are you here for the party as well?” He asked taking in the outfit. When Casey nodded, Cian smiled. “Why not come join us?”
Casey gave a small smile and Zander growled softly. ‘Brother, there is a darkness that hangs about him.Are you sure letting him near is a smart thing to do?’ He asked. Cian gave a smile that was more of a baring of his teeth at the thought of Zander believing he would deliberately put his mate in any danger.
‘I am more than capable of handling a man-child. I have sensed his darkness but there is more there, brother, Do not be so quick to judge.’ Cian replied though made sure that Casey didnt get too close to Patience.

“Oh, my.”
Loki’s had flew to his chest in mock surprise, stepping back and with dark green eyes going wide. “You startled me.”
His grandsons (the obedient ones) standing on either side of them were truly the ones to be frightened at Navi’s sudden appearance. Skoll had jumped back a few inches and Hati growled low. But Loki wasn’t the one to get so worked up over a thing such as this. Always, around this time of year it was the same. But instead of the humans scaring away the spirits, it was the supernatural that finally took over the holiday.
It didn’t bother him. It was amusing to see all beings dress up and ask for sweets. As for him and his wolf grandsons, they didn’t take part in the festivities. After all, he was an expert in glamour, and he was something new every day. The title “god of mischief” had its perks. The black canines behind him wore nothing. He was dressed in a suit, with a dark green handkerchief in his pocket that matched his eyes. He only came for his descendants, even though they didn’t know who he was (let alone if they wanted him to come).
His hand lowered from his chest, holding out his elbow for the nurse. “Certainly, I would love to play. But I wouln’t say I had a soul for you to take.”
** The ride to the party was remarkably unremarkable. Like most of their rides to and from home. The radio was playing softly. The Monster Mash could be heard, with Jua singing softly along. When the ride was over, they all got out. Both couldn’t help but chuckle at Jai’s theatrics, appreciating her staying in character of Morticia Addams.
As they walked, Leo and Jua was behind Jai on each side, making it look like she had two bodyguards behind her. They, too felt the barrier, but not in the way Jai did. It just felt like a small pressure against their shoulders, as if birds had landed on them. Really, it wasn’t a big deal for them. So when Jai felt it, Leo and Jua looked at each other in concern before Leo took a step to her.
It was only one step, though, before she straightened again. He couldn’t help but growl in irritation. “That,” he said, imitating her, “was a sign that we should have stayed home.” But Jua and Leo assumed their positions again, and walked further into the party. Cats were of a curious nature, so when they cleared the trees, they took in the sights, sounds, and smells of the place. Jua’s nose caught the stench of something dead, and Leo heard a loud screech. Both shuddered slightly before moving forward again. “I wonder where the host is,” Jua said casually, then held his cape up to his nose again in Dracula fashion.

Rikara scowled, something that she was getting good at after all this time spent with Jackson. “No,” she stated bluntly. “But it does not hurt.” Her breathing shallowed a bit, feeling the heat come from him like a warm summer day. Her stomach twisted in knots. Though, like Jackson, she didn’t give away anything. Like always, she wrapped one arm around his neck, with the other hand fisting his shirt.
In one blink, they were at their destination. When Rikara saw where they were, she scoffed. “You couldn’t tell me we were retrieving Bram?” Her eyes darted to the cat, letting go of Jackson’s neck for Bram to walk onto his shoulders. Rikara didn’t really understand the cat. The cat that can change forms, but wasn’t like her or Jackson. Nor did she understand how he communicated. The yowl that he gave her seemed to be one of knowing, indeed. But what did Bram know? Can he sense the forbidden feelings she harbored for Jackson?
No, that couldn’t be it. Because she didn’t have any.
Her arm that had been around his neck was now around his torso, pressing herself tightly against him once again as she waited for his transportation magic. Once more, she blinked, and they were at their destination. Her feet took her a few steps away from Jackson after she was sure they were on the soft grass. This gave her time to breathe in the air that she so desperately needed.
Then, after a few moments’ hesitation, she rested her fingers gently on his elbow, showing all the feathers that went to the edge of her nail beds. “You may escort me,” she said formally, but couldn’t help the small smile that tugged on the corner of her lips.

Penny, dressed as a maid, watched with amusement as Luc snuck up on Jewel and grabbed her sides. Jewel was easy to startle, regardless of what day it was, but Jewel seemed to be extra jumpy tonight, because she almost spilled her tea she was drinking and she screeched. The lioness laughed outright, her fingers twirling in X’s snow-white hair. It was a habit that she had gotten since the night they were rescued. She had to be touching X in some sort of way, as if she was making sure that he wasn’t an apparition.
“Lynn said that she and Jareth will meet us at the party,” she heard Thea call to her mother and aunt after her own fit of laughter.
“Okay,” Gem and Jewel said in unison, Jewel standing back up from attempting to tickle Lucian. “Are we almost ready to go?” Jewel called to everyone, her hands on her hips.
Maddox, like most, nodded his head in confirmation. Tonight, like very other night, he was a knight. The suit of armor that he wore was real, from the chainmail to the yellow plume on his helmet. On the center of his breastplate was the royal sigil of his queen, but no one knew of his status in the realm from which Her Grace resided. For all of them, the royal sigil wasn’t anything more than decoration. For Maddox, that was fine with him.
“Are you ready, Bonnie?” he asked, looking at Eva with a small smile on his face.

Patience looked to Zander, tilting her head a few degrees before giving him a smile. It had taken a while for Patience to warm up to Zander, thinking him arrogant and rude when they first met, but now, she didn’t mind him. In fact, she was happy that Zander called her ‘little sister’. It showed her that Zander didn’t hate her either. “Evening, Zander,” she greeted him back before directing all of her attention to Cian.
Her smile grew larger, something only for Cian as he complimented her. I suppose it is, she murmured softly, warmth creeping up her neck as she agreed with him. But it’s not just my costume I’m worried about. King Oberon has Wade and me hunting a faerie tonight, as well as paying respects to Lady Ghost so that she doesn’t have any reason to see us as enemies. He has enough on his plate with Grandmother Edain. Edain was Cindimir’s mate, as well as the newly crowned queen of the Unseelie. To give her the title of “grandmother”, though, was giving her too much respect. Something that she has little of when it comes to Patience. After all, it was she who sent the Night-Walker only to turn Patience away when she found she swore allegiance to King Oberon.
She was, indeed, worried and uncertain. So she let her ‘no affection’ rule fly out of the window; her eyes closed, and one hand cupped Cian’s cheek as she met his lips with her own. A slow fire started within the pit of her belly, spreading out to her fingertips even after they parted. Their kiss left her wanting more, like they always do. But she took what she could get. After all, Patience had a lot of patience.
Nemus butted the back of her knee with one of his heads, causing her to look down before looking to her compainions, who were conveniently looking away. Imogene was casually listening, twirling the cypress branch in her fingers, even. At Cian’s words, Wade nodded, his eyes looking from Cian to Zander and gave a nod. “Ye-“ he started, before he and Seth followed Zander’s gaze to the male coming up.
Paitence let Cian get in front of her, but not because she was afraid of Casey, nor did she feel to be in any harm. No, it was because she knew how protective Carpathians were of their mates; they were vital to their species, the light to the males’ darkness. She wasn’t going to disregard her mate’s feelings like that only to show her own macho-macho. Nemus pressed against her side, hair rising on all three of his necks as Seth, her knight, came up from behind. Wade didn’t complete the box she was in, which was fine with Patience. Instead, Wade brought his mate, Imogene, to his side. It wasn’t as much of a protective gesture as possessive.
Such is the way of the dragon.
Nemus, lead the way inside. And the three-headed dog did, reluctantly moving away from his partner to go ahead into the barrier. Wade didn’t budge until his sister went in, along with the two Carpathians. Then Wade followed Cian and Patience, her hand nestled in the crook of his elbows, irritated at the sight of them. Seth came in behind, his usual frown on his face.

It was hard enough to ignore their concern because it wasn't unwarranted. She wasn't fully oblivious to the reality of the situation but she wasn't about to let it stop her either. Leo's remark only served to make her huff lightly as she turned her back to him, looking up toward where they were supposed to go. Sure, it might not be the kind of party that a person like herself would normally go to. The way she reacted to that... whatever it was, compared to those two, was more than enough of an indicator for Jailean. But it was a party nonetheless, and she doubted that a Halloween party had been set up just so that others could be put in danger.
Beside, when it came down to it, she had two lions watching her back. Jailean doubted that she had to be afraid of anything.
"Stay and skip out on all the fun?" questioned Jailean, true to her resolve in her unwillingness to break character. "Never." She began walking, hearing the two following behind, and as she walked she turned to look at the two of them as she walked backward. "And if anybody else shows up to a party, well, then they are here to have fun too. I doubt our gracious host will let anyone get hurt in their own party." She turned again as she stumbled and left it at that, smiling to herself.
Jua's comment echoed in her mind. She did wonder who the host was. It could be anyone here. It made her smile, reminding her of masquerade balls with the small bit of anonymity. "Oh, wonderful," she commented, looking about herself before turning to face them two. "Isn't it lovely?" Jailean couldn't help her grin. It was, after all, her first party. She didn't think Leo and Jua knew just how important this was to her, but likewise she was willing to make this as fun for her as it would be for them.
After all, she saw herself as the reason as to why they were there in the first place.
She silently stared at all of the guests that she could see, unwilling to let whatever supernatural features they might have keep her from getting a good eyeful of them. She could only wonder at what they were, who they were, or what the connection between all of them was. So many questions. Oh, yes, so many questions she'd be asking Leo and Jua once they got back. Just these brief few seconds and already her mind was brimming in questions.
Their world was as wonderful as it was dangerous. It gave her a sense of thrill. "Well then, gentlemen, mingle!" And without another word or without warning, Jailean shot off toward the snacks, looking about herself curiously, openly staring at whomever it was that crossed her path with a curious look.

He had to give her props for staying in character because holy shit she was not budging at all. But if he told her that, it was only going to inflate her ego. Reaver wasn't fully keen on doing that. But it also didn't help much that her character had to be a daddy's girl.
She must have done it on purpose. Had to. He could only vaguely remember a time when he told her that the whole daddy thing made him slightly uncomfortable earlier in the year, so he didn't believe this to be just a mere coincidence.
"I'm a ghost," he murmured, grinning under his hood. "You can't snuggle up against a ghost. So if you get cold then you're on your own, little girl." His grin faltered into a small smirk as his eyes fell on her. Though the sheet over his head made it hard to see her well, especially in the middle of the night, he could still make out a few hints here and there that told more than her words did.
Like her eyes, and the way they looked for a small moment. Not like a child at all, he told himself. It was a look that he'd never quite grown used to because every time he saw it he would feel a small chill that ran hard and fast down his spine. He wanted to comment on her talking about the good people going to bed, or say something else entirely, but his eyes just fell on the house ahead of them, and the other people, and really just all of their surroundings.
He'd never heard of this place before nor had he heard of the people that were attending, and when he had asked Katie on more details she just told him to show up anyway, knowing that he wasn't one to refuse an invitation from her. "Fun?" he gazed at her, biting at his lip, looking for over once with his eyes. "That depends. I'm daddy, yeah? That means you gotta do what I say."
Reaver grinned, bumped her shoulder, and then pushed her forward a bit as the two of them walked in through the doors. "So I say you gotta decide what we do. Guide me, little girl, among this land of the living. Specifically," he leaned in to her ear and whispered, "find me food, and then find us some entertainment."
