One sat back in his chair, watching the people come and go. It was boring here. Plain. He smiled a little at that thought.
It was something that he had been needing for a long time. For the longest time he had struggled to find where he stood in the world. While he might not have found the person that he wanted to be, he was now happy, mostly, with who he was. It had been a long time since he had been here. It was hard to not remember the time that he had spent here with Raikiri while they were trying to hide from the Slayers. Quinn had been more than happy to help, both him and his daughter. Lily was a little less happy about it, but she eventually came around.
No one seemed to recognize him here anymore. It was a little weird, but that was fine.

Jewel heaved open the glass door of the Stonewall Bakery and Bar against the wind, letting out a little “oomph” under her breath. Behind her, her son Jasper lifted a hand above Jewel’s head to catch the door. She looked up at him and smiled. He was so tall. As tall as his father. And he looked like him too. At least, in the face. Despite Jasper’s golden eagle shift, he didn’t take the bird-like qualities with him to his human skin. He was rather broad. Yeah, that’s a good word for it. Even in bird form he was stocky.
She turned her head to the back of the store where the menu was when she realized that Jasper was too fixated with his tinker toy in his other hand. He had long nimble fingers, which was a crazy contrast to his warrior-like frame. Even when he was a pudgy kid he had those fingers. Well, they may have been pudgy too. But they were fast then as they were now. Because of them, he had plenty of gadgets and gizmos all around the house. Some were little statues. Others were toys he made for him and his siblings. There are a few that even moved and talked. All of them steampunk style.
He talked about having something big planned. Something that not even he would tell his mother, of whom he was really close to. She didn’t pry much; Jewel learned her lesson with Thea. She just … let Jasper be Jasper. As she did with all her other kids now.
The smell of muffins and tea tickled her nostrils, and she smiled as she glanced around the room for a place to sit. When her eyes landed on One, a vague sense of … recognition hit her in the head. I know him from somewhere. But … where?
Then her eyes moved to an empty seat shortly after that, and after confirming the spot where she and Jasper were going to sit, she went up and ordered her usual. Maybe I don’t know him. she thought in the back of her mind. Which wouldn’t surprise her whether she did or didn’t – her life had been pretty crazy since the birth of her quadruplets.
