Jasper’s height rivaled his father’s, but definitely dwarfed him and his brother’s in size. He was large, even going into high school; he made every teacher and principal nervous at least, and at worst downright skittish. His mother told him it was because his grandfather was a Viking and an alpha respectively, and that passed down into his genepool. Because of his size, he couldn’t fly as fast as Nate or his uncles and aunt. Maybe it wasn’t his physique that scared his elders, but because he was descended from the most evil character of Norse mythology: Fenrir, Devourer of the World. Maybe he gave off a vibe or aura or something that relayed that message, or possibly humans are psychic in some form or fashion and they know that Jasper and his siblings were part demon. But if that was the case, wouldn’t they shy away from even Hallie and Lucian, who were the most outgoing and charismatic of the four? Dimitri … well, he wasn’t easy to get along with in the first place, and Jasper didn’t think that it had to do with their demonic heritage. But Jasper? Jasper liked to think himself as an easy-going guy. He didn’t have a mean bone in his body or a grudge against even his great-grandfather, who told everyone what he was and who his own father and grandfather were, when Hallie vowed never to speak to him again and their mother couldn’t look him in the eye. Thea, instead of calling him fatty like she used to before their First Shift, now lovingly called him a gentle giant. His deep voice full of warmth and his hazel eyes a-twinklin’, whoever could get past their initial shock could very well possibly see that he wasn’t evil. Third hour, and he was already hungry. With a sigh, he slumped into his desk behind his sister, stomach grumblin’. “I got Mom’s appetite alright,” he muttered, putting his pack on the floor by him and pulling out his fidget cube. When he looked back up, he saw Hallie come in with her textbook for this class to her chest as she spoke animatedly with someone that he hasn’t met yet. Then, as he focused more on who Hallie was talking to, he felt a little fluttering in his chest. And he swore that there was - at least to him - a charge in the air between him and this person he had not yet known. But he was going to get his sister to introduce them. Because he was pretty sure that he just Imprinted. (( Ventia!))

When the bell rang and dismissed the students from their second-period class to go on to their third, most people struggled to get by the crowded hallways but when Lucian and Dimitri walked through the hallways, people moved out of their way. It was part because they were tall, some of the highschool boys were also tall, reaching six feet and six foot one, which was Lucian's height, but Dimitri towered over the boys, even the seniors and he was still only a sophomore.
When they walked together as well? It was impossible to ignore the sight of the two boys, both over six feet, both big and developed, looking more like men instead of highschool kids, with dark eyes and hard faces, and the blood of a Devourer in their veins. Add Jasper to the mix, and people made effort to separate and slink against the walls, not wanting to get in their way.
The seniors didnt like it but when one or two of them came up to them, Lucian and Jasper would smooth them over and they ended up being liked by any senior who decided to visit the Constantine brothers. They were popular, not because they wanted to but because people noticed them and they were known by the whole school.
Lucian and Dimitri were heading to Jasper and Hallie now where they all shared Environmental Science together. They were on the other side of the school, by the language wing, and had to travel to get there within the five minutes of the break. Needless to say, they were never late once.
Lucian rounded the corner of the building and saw Hallie disappearing into the room. He and Dimitri made a beeline for the door.
While Jade laughed at the joke that Hallie made, following her like she had when she found out they had the same class again, into the classroom, down the roll of seats and classmates until Hallie paused in front of a boy-no not a boy, Jade realized, finally looking away from Hallie and seeing him for the first time.
She couldnt breathe for a second, stunned at the sight of him, until the reasonable voice in her head told her she needed oxygen. She inhaled and smiled, feeling a little hot suddenly.
"Heyyy," Lucian came up from behind the two of them and Dimitri was right behind him. "The whole crew's here, so Hallie, who's this cutie?" Lucian asked, smiling down at Jade, who suddenly felt a bit crowded.
She smiled back at Lucian who was also attractive but...Jade glanced back towards him and felt her heart skip a little.
"Jade," She introduced herself, finally turning away from Jasper.
"Nice to meet all of you. You must be Hallie's brothers that I heard so much about?"

Hallie wasn't the exception to getting a wide berth. She wasn't as tall, nor was she hard-faced like her brothers. On the contrary, she was blessed with feminine curves and too-developed breasts for a supposed 15-year-old. As the old adage goes: the girls wanted to be her, and the guys wanted to get with her. But Hallie knew that it was more than that. There was an intimidating air about all four of the Constantine children that they put off - unintentionally of course. After all, Thea and Mom both said that high school could be rough. Scary. Mean. And it was best if you had someone to stick it out with. Of course, the Constantines had each other; for Hallie, it wasn't enough. She didn't want protective brothers boxing her in when she got particularly nasty looks from the girls and llers from the guys. She wanted a girl bestie.
She felt like she was going to get that from Jade.
Jade was a transfer student from China, and she just started today. How she was able to start a month into classes, Hallie wasn't sure. But she was staying with Miss Penny, her mother's personal assistant. After Miss Penny's son moved out for college, Miss Penny was always looking for ways to "give back" (get rid of her Empty Nest status). When Jade arrived, Miss Penny welcomed her with open arms, Jewel said and suggested that Hallie make friends when she started.
Jade didn't get a wide berth like the quads. Sure, she got curious looks - it's not like they got transfer students everyday - but that was about it. Everyone was fascinated with her accent and how perfect she spoke English. Jade was, in fact, the precious stone she was named after.
What was even better about Jade was she wasn't fearful or envious of Hallie. They immediately clicked.
Hallie saw Jasper smile. A smile that was a Constantine smile with a bit of a twist. Pearly whites flashed at Jade in a classic smoulder, but his cheeks showed the telltale sign of blushing. But only slightly, giving her brother a boyish charm that was supposed to come with their age. It made her “little sister” heart warm.
“This is Jasper,” she motioned to him as she sat down in the seat behind him. Assigned seats suck, but that’s why Mr. Shamel didn’t believe in them. Every day Hallie sat behind Jasper, regardless of where they sat, because no one saw her behind him doodling in her notebook. “The flirt is Lucian and that’s Dimitri.” She reached over and patted the flat of the desk in the row beside them.
“I hope you didn’t say anything bad about us,” Jasper said, finally tearing his eyes away from Jade’s face to turn in his seat to give Hallie a look. His fingers started up messing with the fidget cube again before turning back to look at Jade and giving her a boyish grin. Right now he ignored the jealous pang he had felt when Lucien called Jade a cutie because he knew he couldn’t get in a fight at school. Not only that, but because Jade was her own person and didn’t need someone metaphorically pissing on her as if she was territory.
“Only the worst things ever!”

Jasper. His name rang around in her head a couple times after Hallie said it, and she almost didn't hear the other two names but she registered them in between the Jasper Jasper chanting her mind decided to go on in. She smiled at them all and wondered where to sit for a second before Hallie patted the empty seat next to her. Jade decided she would sit there and hoped no one would end up coming up to her and demand that she scoot.
Jade walked past Jasper and breathed in deeply, catching just a hint of his scent. He smelled good, she realized and fought out a blush as she sat down on the chair, placing her book bag on top of the desk. Did she just try to smell him? She hoped it wasn't noticeable and proceeded to take out her notebook and a pencil from her book bag, smiling a little at Hallie's comment.
"Don't tease them," Jade said and finally had enough courage to look up from her bag, in Jasper's direction. He was still facing Hallie and so Jade got a full view of his face. She took in his strong features, his brown hair, and those startling hazel eyes and again felt butterflies in her stomach. He was handsome and there was just...something in his gaze that called out to her. Made her want to reach out and touch him.
At the same time Lucian took the seat in front of Jade and Dimitri took the one in front of him. Usually the four of them would sit in a square but they rearranged themselves slightly for Jade without missing a beat. Plus Dimitri would like to see someone try to get him to stand up.
Lucian turned around to face both Hallie and Jade and countered, "Well don't forget we got some pretty embarrassing stories about you too missy."
"We should all have lunch together, what say you Jade? Care to join us?"
Jade glanced away from Jasper to turn to Hallie, then back to Lucian. "I would love to if that's okay with everyone?"

It was okay with everyone, because after fourth period, they were all in line with each other. Or really, it was more like a gaggle of students. The line really didn’t get filed down until they passed through the doorway to get into the kitchen. But they were towards the back of the line, the Constantine siblings and Jade, so their formation was more of a lopsided circle.
Fourth period, Lucian and Jasper had together. From what he gathered, Jade and Dimitri had math together. Jasper loved his brother, yes. And he knew that Dimitri would never hurt anyone except in defense (their father and uncles and aunt taught them how to fight just in case they were ever jumped. Jewel always emphasized the ‘just in case’ part). But he knew that Dimitri gave off this antisocial “don’t fuck with me” vibe. And that vibe could be interpreted as a “I’mma eat you if you fuck with me” vibe. He wondered if Dimitri accidentally scared Jade.
With how she was acting, he more than likely didn’t. But he knew that Dimitri more than most could be very intimidating.
For the first part of fourth hour, Jasper and Lucian sent notes back and forth. Lucian had been first, asking what Jasper thought of Jade. At first, Jasper tried to play it cool, but he wasn’t much the subtle type. Eventually he had told Lucian via pen and paper that he believed he had Imprinted on Jade.
Hallie saw how they were with each other; it was no brainer with how they were so close but not so close that they touched. Hallie had to hold back from rolling her eyes at the two of them. They were both totally into each other. Their eyes were bright, and Jasper had a constant blush on his cheeks.
Can’t believe I lost my best friend already, she said to Lucian and Dimitri via the pack link. But it was only in fun, motioning with her eyes the lack of space there was between Jasper and Jade. Jasper caught it and glared at Hallie briefly before clearing his throat. “So how are you liking Miss Penny?” he asked, taking a little step away just in case Jade was feeling claustraphobic.
