When Armin began to shift back, Annie stood in her spot staring at him blankly. She wasn't going to let her guard down in case he lost control of himself again. Not that she could really see herself doing much, he had proven his dominance over her, and frankly she still felt terrified of him. She pulled her eyes away from him at the last second but something drew her attention back to him.
Hey breath hitched in her throat, eyes wide as she stared at him shamelessly. The markings tainting his natural beauty and Annie had never seen something like this before. Her eyes were shamelessly glued to his face and she found herself disappointed when he moved away into the car.
Silently, she dug through the pockets of the dead, grabbing weapons and keys and stuffing them into her previously discarded bag. Grabbing the bag, she moved over to the car getting into the drivers seat, she felt glad that there was a barrier of bulletproof glass dividing herself from Armin. Once she closed the door, the tension in the car intensified. Somewhere in the back of her mind she could feel Armin's gentle presence, whispering that he would never hurt her. But those thoughts only managed to intensify all of Annie's negative feelings leaving her breathless. She shifted in her seat, looking back towards him.
After a long moment of silence, she sighed. "I have a right to feel like this, you know?" She started off slowly, lightly. "You promised me you would never hurt me and i know it wasn't you, I know this was Magath's doing, but it was still YOU. You almost killed me Armin and I have every right to feel fucked up right now! I have every RIGHT to be mad at you, every RIGHT to be confused and hurt too... Because how dare you!? How dare you break your promise and then mark me? How dare you sit back there looking so defeated and so goddamn BEAUTIFUL that it fucks me up even more!!" She ended up yelling.
Frowning, she turned the car on, flinching at the pain in her palm as she fixed herself in her seat and began to drive off, hands around the steering wheel so tight that her knuckles turned white. "We don't have time for this." She told him simply as she drove off. It took them fourth five minutes before Annie drove off the pavement and into a patch of trees off the side of the road. She reached her spot and turned off the car. "Get out." She instructed, getting out herself and moving towards a big pale tree. The placed smell sweet, surrounded by russian olive trees and Annie quickly moved around the trees until she found what she was looking for.
With her hands, she dug angrily at the ground until the dirt started picking up and loosening, allowing her to dig a bit deeper to expose a dark duffle bag that had been buried. Grunting as she forced it out, she got on her hands and knees and opened it. She pulled out a pair of jeans and a clean black hoodie, laying them next to herself before she pulled a pair of sweats and a hoodie and threw it in Armin's general direction.
The bag was filled with wads of cash, prepaid debit cards, a set of car keys, and an envelope with her fake ID and social. She zipped it up and picked it up along with the clothes, throwing the bag into the car and quickly undressing. She was wearing standard military underwear and didn't bother to hide the wounds on her back as she undressed and redressed. The clothes smelled stale and of people, clearly bought second hand with the intent to mask thier smell.
What Armin would be wearing had been intended for her father to wear, so they'd fit shorter and bigger. This was her escape plan from everything. She had starved herself to make sure she could put money in it, and when the time came, she had intended to use it so she and her father could escape somewhere safe. But that time never came for her. She dug into the car, taking an opened water bottle and pouring it over her old clothes, finding a clean spot in the fabric so she could use it to wipe the blood off of her hands and face before throwing it at Armin so he could do the same.
"Hurry up." She told him, leaving her clothes in the hole the bag came from before rushing to the car. Once Armin was inside, she drove off another half an hour, hitting a busy point in the highway. It was filled with turns and twists full of semis and travel stops. She drove to the biggest one, having been here before, and parked next to the green toyota that she had recognized from a distance. "Get out and wait for me here." She instructed, pulling out a couple of bills from the duffle bag before rushing into the crowded gas station.
