I know that werewolves and other shifters grow up to maturity roughly around a year, until they hit maturity. But they DO have to go to school. Yes? Yes. I believe so. And I've taken glances around and saw that yes, most of the pups have gone to school (not just Thea), whether it be public, private, or homeschool. Though it's just references and things.
So what if we actually brought in the public school that Jewel graduated from and is a nurse at, and had threads based in there?
I already have most of the details planned out for the school. But I don't feel like giving the details if this idea goes to the wastebin. xD

I support this idea, however, how do we execute it is a question that would have to be asked.

Well, shit. I thought I responded to this one.
Very plainly? The idea of it is good but I simply don't support it. Largely because I have never supported the idea of shifter children ever going to any public school. However, I'm not about to restrict that. I find the idea of a shifter public school to be a very dangerous idea that leads to very bad things. A shifter going to public school briefly or jumping around? Sure. Let them learn how to act in public. Perhaps a small school house located in a pack compound, if the pack is a larger one. Hell, even a public school in the basement of some ratty apartment building that few people know about, that's the one Rose went to. However, a formal public school that is set up for shifters would draw so much attention that all of them would be slaughtered within year one. Why? Hunters.
That seems to be a matter that is rarely addressed because the site is so shifter centric. Humans are rarely recognized...but hunters are a huge issue. They are in the deadlands at least. Everywhere. Then, if they hear about something like that? They go after it. Especially if they learn that it's largely children, because they can take out the next generation before it becomes a problem. Easy pickings. That's why any school would need to be in a pack land or somewhere heavily protected. Or well hidden. It's dangerous.
That's why most of my characters are homeschooled, well, not most. All. Literally all mine are homeschooled or have a special circumstance like how Nessie taught Rose. That's simply my opinion on the matter, because this is a huge issue. I don't really like it simply because of this but I would prefer different opinions on the issue.

What if the New Dawn built a small building solely for the purpose of educating the pups that the NS and ND have? Well, the packs as a whole average around one a year, so what if this building was a one-room school house that was only open when the pup was the age equivalent of 4, where humans start preschool? And the ND would hire someone as the school's teacher?
Homeschool. Just ... not at home, though close to it. xD

Or the schooling could be done in the meeting hall when not in use. I mean all the pack groups there to speak so its not like a hunter is going to be able to get past the outsiders that far into the territory. And it could cause more rps to happen for the children instead they magically know everything. And its nothing that would have to happen to often. But it all so insure that all the children meet and know a fellow pack member.
Just food for thought.

^^^^^^^^ Even better!! And they would only learn the fundamentals of every subject unless the pupils want to know more.
Seriously, has anyone used the formula to find the circumference of a circle out in the real world?

I'll have Julian be a teacher for the Nighstar if this gets off the ground

I imagine the school house to be in the ND territory, and pups from both packs would go to it. Seeing as how Jewel is a school nurse as well as a healer, she would have someone come to teach as well.

I could have marlin be a Social Studies teacher agreed, if this gets off the ground. No doubt it will, though.

How many teachers do we need for and average of four children that grow at a rapid pace in a one-room school house?

Well it could always be that there are people (ie my twins) who never really went to school but are still young. Or we could have a college as well. I doubt one person would be able to teach everything. Nobody knows everything lol not even yours truly XD

The teacher(s) would only teach them the fundamentals of each subject. Elementary stuff. The things that people actually use in real life. If the pups want to continue their education, good! When their aging slows they can do so.

So like expressions (math, yes you will use it one day lol) volume, etc. they're gonna use everything you normally learn eventually though.

College would be unneeded. Largely because a shifter child would stop growing by that age and would easily be able to fit into a human college.
As far as the school, I'm not going to stop it. Just know that I still believe that homeschooling is the smarter option. A small schoolhouse in pack land is acceptable, that's one of the conditions that I mentioned in my last post. However, in order to hold classes there, the teacher will have to be approved by an Alpha or Beta of the pack. Not a Gamma or a Head, because not just anyone should be allowed to teach kids. Then, I don't believe I'd make it mandatory for children to attend. Perhaps for quarterly assessments to ensure that the parents are teaching them the knowledge that they need to know, but not regularly for classes.
Also, I believe it would be smarter for each pack to have them in their own meeting halls. NS and ND are allies, and yes, their Alpha's are closely related by blood, but that does not mean merging themselves for teaching is a smart idea. Both Aza and Maria would be opposed to that, Maria in particular. After all, Maria is very protective of her pack, and she wouldn't entrust the protection of the children there to anyone other than their own pack. Let alone a pack that puts so much trust in rogues when she has a particular distaste for them. Same requirements for approval are still there.
