This is Gail's end.
Enjoy.
Gail and Orfeo had their ups and downs but somehow they always managed to get through it together. He was kind and patient and she was absolutely blinded by love. She forgave his past mistakes and instead chose to make the rest of his days happy, somehow. Truth be told she often times doubted that she could make him happy and sometimes she'd even want to let him go so he can move on with someone else. But he was there. Taming her insecurities and making her feel strong and wanted. every time she touched him and every time she looked at him, it always felt like the first time for her. She didn't know how he would feel about her and she didn't know how long he'd be... Alive. But she was going to make everyday of his life worth it.
Yes, at this point Gail knew about his sickness. She didn't know if knowing made things better or worse for her but at this point there was honestly no going back for them. She'd have her mental relapse and he'd help her. He'd get sick and she'd help him. Today, she knew he needed to go to the store and get them a couple of things, mainly food. Gail absolutely refused to leave the house everytime he'd invite her along so it wasn't a surprise when he simply told her he'd be back in a couple of minutes, gave her a kiss, and left to fetch groceries. Gail was content. She sat on the bed for a while thinking, then moved over to the bathroom to brush her hair.
She wanted to surprise him with something and was struggling to find something to do just that. After a while of thinking she made up her mind in possibly the most bizarre way she could. Smiling, she left the bathroom and went to the hallway to slip on her shoes. She was going to go and wait for him outside. He would be home soon and if she didn't feel safe she could just come back inside. But she wanted to see him and she wanted to see the look on his face when she faced one of her fears. It was an illogical fear after all, Worlein and everyone that had hurt her was gone but she constantly felt the need to hide from the world in case someone was seeking to harm her. It was what would trigger most of her relapses but Orfeo had been gone long enough and so she knew he'd be back soon.
Slowly, she opened the door. Peaking out into the world around her. She remained still for a while until she had the bravery to open the door wider and wider and then slip out and close it behind her. She kept her hands flushed against the doorknob, ready to open it and run back inside at the sign of any trouble or danger. But after about five minutes of no one paying any mind to her, she slowly managed to calm her overly beating heart and take a couple of steps towards the outside world. The area was busy but not incredibly so. Still, the movement and loud noises made her tremble and made tears form in her eyes. But she was already here and she wasn't going to go back now.
She looked up and down the street, then across. Not seeing Orfeo. Her attention moved towards all the cars and she was amazed at how they worked. Following a system that she would never understand even if she tried. The idea brought a sharp sting to her chest, making her remember that she wasn't the most ideal or brightest person in the universe. She looked around and realized that she was never going to be like anyone in the street. She wasn't smart, didn't understand the world and it's rhythms. She fell short in a lot of categories and in a way, being ignored felt like she was being belittled.
At this point, she wanted to go back inside and pretend as if nothing happened. She wanted to hide and not remember what she was currently feeling. Before she turned around to go inside, she looked one last time around her and noticed him walking down the street. He hadn't noticed her and so she smiled, her emotions regaining control of itself and she felt happy he was there. She wanted to hug him and cry to him. Feel his love and feel wanted again.
So she walked to the edge of the street and waved. "Orfeo!" She called out, waving more and calling out once again for him.
When his eyes landed on her, she smiled wide and stood there proudly. She wanted him and without thinking, she started running towards him. She was halfway there when she felt a sharp sting and heard a screech. She felt lifted and blacked out for a second. Her eyes opening enough to let her see blood and glass. She was leaning inside a car, her body thrown carelessly into it's windshield. There was someone besides her inside the car but when she opened her mouth to talk, she choked on blood and passed out.
Before she realized that she had gotten hit by a car, blood had flooded her lungs from a huge piece of glass that dug inside of her and she died on the scene.
