The sun was shining along the branches of the Southern Magnolia, the dew dripping down the lemon citronella-scented flowers. The sound of a song reached long from the fields, echoing from one picker to the next. Men would ride along the fields watching on their McCurdy Plantation horses, they had a pep in their step and could catch any one thinking about bolting for the woods. These fields were far from the plantation house in Cherry Groves landscape, The long winding road held Many of those trees. Hiding the many of workers keeping the slaves in check upon the land. The man of the house has rose well before the hour of the sun dawning, his paper work kept him fully focused. He was now just finishing up a few before he took his pipe from the desk tapping over the side knocking the ashes into the bin. He would pluck some tobacco from a bag on his desk, filling it ; tucking it into his pocket before he would take up the bag. He was about to go out on his filly once Wes had saddled her for him, his gate was slow and full of himself as he stepped out on the porch. He had let the pony girls sleep in today, he was personally going to be checking in on his own stock. Since Joseph had been added to the lot most of the hands had straighten up their act or left, he had let them do as they pleased but as soon as the law enforcement had come poking around he nipped it in the butt.
He strutted down to his gate and walked out onto his drive seeing Wes with his Filly, he moved towards the horse when it neighed he growled staring it in the eye. It stopped moving about and stood very still before hoped up and grabbing a hand full of hair and sunk spur. The filly took off with his suit jacket flapped in the wind, it would take a good hour to cross his land at full run on foot in human form. By horse was faster, but by four legs would of been faster; however he preferred to strut about the humans that were unknowing. Only a select few really knew what he and his was, though he was a great power in the south and if he wanted to let every one know in the county he very well could and not a eye would be batted. Because they knew what happened when you crossed Mason James Abbott, death was his best friend along with having all most all the law enforcement from there to the Mississippi river in his pocket.
When he reached the inner tree line near the great fields of cotton and tobacco he would slow down, turning his attention to each slave. Joseph kept his head down, though he had a evil eye for Mason and vowed to kill him first chance he got for ruining his manhood. The ring tone Stack-o-lee started to play, he would pull out the phone and answer it. " What John?" he would smile lightly and chuckled" you say what? A black man driving a fancy car is coming up my county road?" He leaned forward on the horse smacking it gently before leaning on the horn," Thank you John " He would shut the phone before pocketing it. Leaning back on his horse he would stare down at Joseph the only white spec in the field beside the cotton. Mason smiled and his eye's narrowed before he reared back and slapped the Filly's ass and took off like a bat out of hell.
The law had been watching a man that head never set foot in this county go through town and out towards Cherry Grove, the color of his skin was the only thing that set him apart from the rest. Mason was eager to see why he was headed towards some place most black folk didn't return from, only a select few had the good graces to step foot on Cherry Grove soil and step off again unmarked. The Filly was breathing heavy from the deep run through the fields and rivers only coming to a stop out by the stables, he would take the saddle of the horse and move to wipe her down then brush her. He would not allow her to drink cold water, he made her drink from a warm source so she wouldn't get sick. He would let wes walk her so she could cool down and told him not to ever let her drink deep after such a run. He Did not think he made it back before the man that was supposedly suppose to be on his way there.

Lawrence had left the day or two before all hell broke loose in Benjamin's "territory". He was lucky to have made it out. It was a bad as it had been all those years ago when Benjamin had first created his pack. History seemed to have merely repeated itself. Lawrence had been driving for quite some time, about two days to be exact. He was determined to prove to Benjamin that he had what it took to have his own squad.
He had no clue where the hell he was but he knew that he was somewhere down south when he saw all the fields. It made him curious to see so much free land and farms. Seeing horses roaming free as well as cows and steers grazing was new to him as well. He'd smiled a little as he passed them by. He was a city boy and knew nothing of the country. That was ok with him because he was planning to go back to the city. It was nice to come out for a breath of fresh air but he was a city boy not a country boy.
When he reached a town he drove through a bit slow, wanting to as for directions. When he saw the looks on the faces of the townfolk, he thought twice about that. He figured it was his car that had them eying him like he was misplaced. Not everybody treated him that way though majority did and that unsettled him. He reached over for his pistol and was grateful to feel the cold weight. He looked at them as he passed. He had navagation but he wanted to make sure that he was going the right way.
Sighing he drove through the town until he got to what he thought were the city limits. The navagation sent him down a long winding road with large fields on each side. The further he went the more a large plantation house came into view. He pulled up to the house and parked. He sat in his car a moment as he simply looked at it. It seemed this place was stuck in time while the surrounding cities and times kept up with the future.
He sighed and got out of the car. He wore jeans and a red poll shirt with white jordans. He'd put on his sunglasses and wore a gold and white gold rolex, a thin gold chain and a gold stud in his ear. He stuck his hands in his pockets and walked towards the house. He had seen a mess hauling ass on horseback and that had him lifting a brow.He continued to walk off when he remembered the information benjamin wanted him to deliver. He jogged back and grabbed up the papers and headed up the stairs that led to the front door and raised his hand to knock.

(sorry for it being short. I had a response that got erased much longer then this one. )
Seeing the man heading for his house made him simply pause for a moment watching him from a distance. When he knocked the pony girls inside did not answer right away, all scared of who it might be and no one but them inside made them hesitate. Lillia was very shy and soft spoken as she opened the door" Good day S-sir" Her eyes would not look up at him they focused on his shoes, she had never had a man of his stature come and knock on the door. Most in this area that were of his skin tone knew to stay off Cherry grove land let alone the damn porch. She would hear the foot falls of Mason, she could pick out his stride any where. That was how she knew how to get out of the way or test his anger, it all depend upon how he walked or spoke. She would not move from the door her frame stiff and un-moving, " Mr. Abbot.... I-I weren't letting him in" Mason would smile upon hearing her speak he chuckled. " That is Fine Lillia its ok to let the gentlemen in " He wanted him inside before weather he decided to shoot him or capture him for his own work force. He would need to gauge the man.
" What brings you out to Cherry grove..." He paused as if he had no name to fill waiting for him to speak to who he was and why he was there. Lillia would move out of the way and keep her eyes focused on the ground the other girls out of sight and mind, as if she knew what Mason wanted next she would move quickly away to bring him refreshments. Mason would smile to him offering him to go inside, though this was often not a place of black men he had a few that tended house and where some what 'in-charge' while he was away. Seeing as John was most likely not the only one to see him driving towards Cherry grove Mason had to be careful how he handled this. He wasn't to sure about the young officer that was under John, and he didn't need some one other the local police handling anything.
" Come on in " He said as he headed in side and then towards his private office. He saw paper work in his hand and frowned. He headed for his desk to make himself comfortable, instead of smoking his pipe he took a cigar. Lillia would bring them both lemon aid setting it on coasters before she would move to the visiting man placing a drink beside him as well. She never looked up and only ever focused on what work she was doing. Once that she had finished serving them both she would move out of the room slowly closing the door. Only once she reached the kitchen did she get swarmed by the others asking many questions about the dark man who had decided to test fate and come to Cherry grove.

Lawrence knock a couple times as he looked around waiting for an answer. The place reminded him of the past and not in agood way. A chill ran down his spine but he shook it off. He started to get a bit irritated when no one immediately answered. He could smell and hear someone inside. He started to growl and turn around when the door slowly came open.
The woman standing there had him raising his brow. He wondered why she wouldnt look at him, thinking it to be rude but he let it slide. He had more important things to worry about than some timid woman. "Yes hi, I'm here to speak with-" He started to say when he sensed another. He turned to look at the man and then took note of the change in the girl. Was he abusing her?Was that why she acted so submissive. He didnt like it and it rubbed him the wrong way. He bit his tongue and waited to be addressed.
"I am here on important business." Before he had left, Benjamin had sent his messenger bird(EVERA) with some documents he figured he wanted the dude to have. He didnt question it but simply accepted his task and set out to deliver.
"My name is Lawrence;Lawrence Dronan." He said. He didnt want to disclose too much information out in the open and would wait until they were alone to speak further. Lawrence glanced at Lillia one more time before going inside and following the man into his office. He watched the busy bodie that was Lillia as she served them refreshments. It was almost as if she were a servant or slave of some sort but he soon dismissed the whole slave notion. No one had slaves anymore, at leastnot in the sense he was thinking. That era in time had long since passed. Sure there were other ways in which to enslave people but he wasnt really sure what to make of it.
He waited until she had left out the room before he got down to business. "I was sent here by Benjamin Ross. He wanted me to deliver a few documents to you. One was concerning a deed to the lands and properties that he owns, basically an inheritance. He is handing over all of his businesses, properties and assets to you." He said not feeling the need to explain everything when he could simply look it over himself.
"There was also a letter he recieved from a woman named Coralee, stating that you were his son. Benjamin was wanting a "legacy" if you will and upon finding it he wanted to get everything switched over to you so that you can take over in his stead." He paused and decided to take a drink of the lemonade to wet his dry throat.
The man before him reminded him of Benjamin. Not so much as the looks, though he had them, but there was an air about him that held malice and ill will. It was subtle but it was there. He sat the glass down and cleared his throat. "There are important documents that you will need to sign to make it official and legal. I will give you a moment to take a look at that and sign what needs to be signed." Lawrence said as he sat back comfortably in his seat.
Unbeknownst to Lawrence, Benjamin had written a letter to his son directly.

Mason would smile to the man as he spoke about important business, this was a odd thing so that only confirmed that this man was not any where near here. Most knew from miles past the county line that you never went to cherry grove even if invited if your color of skin was white as a sheet. All kinds of horror stories so far fetched that no one believed them and where set as folk lore and myths. No one was ever brave enough to test that, Mason counted on that very much because it kept other law enforcement out. Because no one told the story about this place or Mason because he was the boogie man for most and very powerful man. He practically owned the entire station for the county, so him staring at this man made him only smile more because he felt the need to make him aware of what he had walked into but for now.. well for now he would play the little game out till it came time to brand the coon and shuffling him off to the slave house.
When the man mentioned his mother his smile quickly vanished as he licked his lip, no one ever spoke of his mother less it was in a good light around here and even then unless Mason brought it up was a sore subject. He had loved his mother dearly and her death had nearly ruined him, being such a mothers boy it was best for every one to tred lightly with her name or mention. " Hmm I see, is he dying?" Was his blunt way of asking why a stranger to him would so suddenly want to transfer funds to him, and weather it was a trick to gain access to Cherry Grove. One reason he had kept this empire for so long was because he was a paranoid man, he always making sure of things. He would twitch a little as he felt his inner wolf growl inside of him, his anger rising had him on edge with his inner beast. He would reach across and pick up the paper work his eyes making quick work of it, his heart beat quick with in his chest. He all most forgot the man before him was black. " Tell me Lawrence .....does your so called boss know where he had sent you?" He would look up to gauge him as he continued to read through the paper work to gauge the mans response. He would then take a cigar and light it, it was a rare occurrence for him himself to actually smoke them.
Lillia would hush the women down as she told them of the man, what he smelled and looked like. She all so mentioned the fear she felt not from being near him but from what she feared Mason would do they all would turn to watch through the open doors staring towards the office. They would all move out of the kitchen and go about chores, an older woman would make Lillia move towards the office so they could over hear what was going on. Holding dusters encase any one might see them. Mason would suck on the cigar before frowning, moving to go through a letter. He truly did wonder if the man knew of himself and what went on in Cherry grove, this started to make him even more paranoid.

Lawrence shifted at bit uncomfortably in his seat. He knew the instant the mood went sour because the hair on the back of his neck stood on end. Honestly? He didnt know what Benjamin knew about and what he didnt. He didnt think anybody could keep up with benjamin's thoughts. Though the fact that this just asked him that question had him sneaking a glance at the door befroe looking at the man before him. What was so special about this place that he'd have known about it? What hadnt Benjamin told him?
He mentally kicked himself before he got ahold of himself and forced himself to relax. He was merely the messenger. "Honestly , he probably do but then again he may not have. He pulled a lot of strings to what information he has in order to find you on such short notice. To answer your earlier question, in a sense he is dying but not as if right if my knowledge serves me correctly. He was in good health when i last saw him." He statted watching the man closely. He knew when he was in the presence of a dangerous predator. He was just ready to be done with this job and gone to the next with a brand new position.
He had no idea that his current job could very well be his last.
~*~A note from Benjamin to his son~*~
Hey son,yea there's a laugh.
Alright so here's the deal, the fucker in front of you can die for all the fucks i give. My time is very short lived at this present time. But before i depart from this being i would like to give ya something, mon amie. All that i own. Iwill no longer have need of it and figured why not give it to you unless that ass of a mother has poisoned you completely against me. Ah Carolee, she was as precious as a spitting cobra. Tis a shame she died but that is the way of mortals.
Anyway, there are something that's inportant for you to know. You are part of me. Im not talking about no blood and dna although that will make it stronger but no, litterally there is a part of my soul that is intertwined with your own. Cool , yeah? Anyway, when I am gone from this world that part will grow strong with the need to find the rest of its soul parts. They can be found in the bodies of four half blood Forsaken children, the last of their family line. Find them, kill them and consume their very souls. You would be all the more powerful for it. The blood and soul of a forsaken is quite delicious,i've had it once and there's nothing else like it.
No I dont know you may be one of those, who do you people say it? "Goody goody two shoes"? And you might think that you can fight the urge ,the need , the lust for these other soul parts put you cant. the more you fight it the stronger it gets. And dont worry they will be dealt with the same need as you. Its a bit of a rat race really to see who can kill who first. But seeing as how they are newly born, I'd say you had the advantage ,yeah?
Well I have to go, kill that sniveling piece of shit if you want but he alone knows where the pups were born and where they still may be.
Eh,
Benjamin Ross

Seeing the Letter from his father intrigued him and at the same time pissed him the fuck off. No one spoke about his mother in that manner, if the man was not dead already he had the urge to end him. Though being a smart man he would not begrudge money or land, though the second part of the letter fucking concerned him greatly. He was not one for ending a child's life but sensing what his father said was true he might not have a choice.
He was not one to waste good black flesh either, rarely did he kill off his slaves unless they could not be bent to his will. Turning his full attention back to dark fellow before him he laughed slightly evil like, it was deep and crass." Well your Master has a very laughable letter here, says here I am to kill you. Make you nothing more then trash. Did you know that Lawrence? See I do not waste a good slave." His lips curled lightly in a nasty smirk." You my friend are truly fucked in so many ways. He could give two shits about you boy. Or me for that matter it seems. "
He chucked the letter into the trash. " But I am not stupid I will take his money or land. Divide it maybe sell it off, who the fuck knows. You I will take as a gift. Now lets see what type of N*gger will you be? House slave?Hmm perhaps field slave? What boy? You thought you were leaving after this?" He laughed loudly at the thought bit down on the cigar lighting it up again sucking hard on it.
" You boy will join the nightmare of the rest, perhaps I could make you a comfort N*gger. I have a few F*ggot's in my crew who would just eat you up for dinner" He stood up slamming his fist down on the table. " Run boy I will give you a fighting chance to high tail the fuck out of here. Or you can submit and for go the Flogging?" In truth he would hope he would run so he could change and give chase, the humans were told that it was his hunting hound and not to harm him.
He would chase the man down and attack him maul him, oh no he would not die. Just be ripped a little, he loved the taste of blood weather it shifter or human. He tested himself in keeping himself from killing them, he had yet to lose control though today his temper was mean deep cut by the words of a fucking man he didn't even know. Blood or not he was going to get his in some way or another, his heart was beating with the need the inner wolf growling and snarling inside biting at the bit to get out. It was causing pain deep deep pain, like the wolf wanted to literally claw out his flesh.
The maid could hear the sound of anger from the office waving all the girls back into the kitchen she would shut the door and lock it. She didn't skip a beat hustling to the back to lock it, she had seen what that kind of anger brought. She had run only once and that was enough, her skin still had marks from that day not just from the flogging.
She would weep as she slide to the floor the other girls didn't understand why she was so upset and fearful, but they remained in the kitchen where she was. They figured it was safe where they were, from her frightened expression and tears told them that danger was upon them.
