((Ventia!))
Of course, she had to be stranded on the highway in the least busy hour of the day.
Of course, Lane couldn't answer the phone, and her parents were too busy to leave their work places.
Of course, the tow truck would be here thirty minutes after practice started.
Of course, the day the troupe was assigned roles in The Nutcracker her car decided to steam from the hood, freaking her out.
"Stupid hunk of junk!" she yelled. before taking a deep breath. In an aggitated manner, she ran her hands over her head to make sure there were no stray strands that fell from her bun. "There's a reason that this happened," Sybil murmured, before turning around to look at the mustard-yellow car that her parents "loaned" her until she finished school. She stood on the shoulder, in the front of it. That was her mantra for anything that could have possibly went wrong or not her way.
When she broke her leg when she was nine.
When her brother came out as gay.
When the attack on Paris happened.
Although it wasn't clear, God always had a plan. Even though He didn't want for anything bad to fall on anyone, but He does make bad things turn out to be good in the end.
"There's a reason that this happened," she said, a bit more forcefully. She turned her back on the vehicle, towards the town that held the dance studio she went to every Mondays and Thursdays. But the town was ten miles away, just at the border. The dance studio was farther in. In the historic downtown district. By the time she got to practice by walking, it would already be over.
So she sighed in a dejected way, moved to the back of the car, and sat on the trunk as she waited for the tow truck to get here.
"There's a reason that this happened."

Ruby raced down the highway, the wind blowing through her short silky hair and her tight clothes. She wore sunglasses so that nothing could get in her eyes while she rode on her motorcycle. It was deserted so she increased the speed without worrying about other cars getting in her way.
Something yellow was at the far end of her sight, she narrowed her gaze and noticed that it was a car. She scoffed, and increased the speed, the engine purring in approval. When she approached the broken down car, she found herself looking at the feminine outline leaning against it. Something flared in her mind about that outline but Ruby didn't pay any heed to it, and instead continued going.
However, she glanced at her mirror and stared at the person until it finally clicked why that person was so familiar. A rush of excitement filled her and before she knew what she was doing, Ruby was turning her bike-the tires screeching at the sudden change and her body bending to help with the turn.
Her heart was hammering against her chest because of how dangerous it was what she just did-not that she didn't mind doing dangerous things she just didn't like the fact how mindlessly she came up with the decision to do it. All because she remembered the sweet girl from the supermarket.
Ruby slowed the bike into a halt on the side of the road where the broken down car was. Smirking, she placed one foot down to settle the bike and eased the sunglasses off.
"Car problems cupcake?"

The first thought she had when hearing the engine of a vehicle: Maybe someone will be nice enough to give me a ride.
The second thought came when she found out that it was the motorcycle and it was driving horrifically fast: Maybe not.
She was off the highway, closer to the ditch than the grooved white line on the shoulder. Still, she felt her breathing hitch in fear and flinching away from the cursed contraption as it passed by her. The gust of wind that followed nearly toppled her over INTO the ditch, but she held her ground.
Soon after she sighed in relief her body jerked at the sound of tires squealing. Slowly, like she was too afraid to do so but compelled anyway, she turned her upper body to see that the motorcycle was coming back. Slower, this time – and it stopped right beside her – but now, at this moment in time, she didn't want help from the person that was driving too recklessly.
From the woman that was obviously hitting on her at work. From the person that woke something within her that she was too afraid of to even mention. Because if she did her parents would disown her and she would lose Lane.
God help her.
She cleared her throat, then swallowed nervously. "That obvious?" Sybil asked, looking toward the hood that was still smoking. The poor girl sounded like she accepted her fate, yet still didn't like it. And it was true.
Of its own accord, as she put her head in her hands dejectedly, a low moan of despair escaped her throat.

Ruby chuckled, "Ah now dearie. Don't look so down. Things happen in life for a reason." Her voice was smooth but Ruby could feel the excitement running through her veins at the sight of Sybil. "I'm sure it's not that bad. Have you called the towing truck? I'm sure you have. You're a smart lassie."
She stared down at Sybil's outfit and fought the urge to reach out and skim her palms down her legs. God this girl was killing her. Without even trying to. Ruby wondered if she knew how hot and flustered she got her. She took a deep breath and besides from her arousal and the smell of a smoking buggy, Ruby only smelled just how human Sybil was. Which meant she was off limits. Ruby didn't do humans. She would never change someone (yes, it's been done before with a shifter like herself) and she couldn't stand to fall for someone whom was more vulnerable than her and whom had a shorter lifespan. Not that she was expecting to live for that long-she got into too much trouble for that but still.
Sybil was just not on the menu.
No matter how much Ruby wanted a piece of this tasty cake.
Ruby sighed to herself and eased off the bike, popping the seat open and taking out a helmet. Then? She threw it at Sybil, the girl better catch it in this short range or else Ruby would be very disappointed.
"You look like you need to be somewhere. Hop on, I'll take you there. I promise not to be reckless." She winked, and eased one leg over the bike again, before patting the seat behind her.
"Come on. I don't bite."

The throwing of the helmet was unexpected. Sybil's first reaction was to squeak. The helmet was seen only out of the corner of her eye. So all she saw was a mass the size of the melon being thrown at her.
Her second reaction was to shield her face. Since she was sitting on the trunk of her junk car, facing down the road (or up, depending on where you look at it) the helmet didn't even hit her face, but her side. It didn't hurt, no, but she still jerked when it made contact. A natural reaction that may or may not have a story behind it.
When the helmet hit the trunk after that she sent an angry glare to the woman. Another natural reaction when something was thrown at her. She couldn't smell the arousal, otherwise she definitely would have waited for the tow truck. In her car. With the doors locked. You know, just in case. But since she didn't, and Ruby didn't send out any signals like she did -
Oh, wait. The wink.
She looked down, a blush rising to her cheeks - which only caused her to get more flustered - at the helmet. At first, she was skeptical. After all, she knew better than to hitchhike with strangers. And even though she and Ruby had met once, they were still strangers. Let's not forget that Lane was a very jealous, and Ruby didn't make the greatest first impression.
She looked down at her phone, waking it up to show the time. If she hurried she might get to practice in time. But ... she didn't want to get on a bike. With a girl. That made her feel things that she wasn't allowed to feel.
Dear God, help me, she thought, biting her bottom lip nervously.
And then before she could talk herself out of this, she slung her duffle over her shoulder and took the helmet with shaky fingers. And forgive me, too. Because she knew that she was going to be in a lot of trouble with her parents. And Lane, too.
"I need to get to dance practice," she said a bit hesitantly, refusing to move a bit further until Ruby knew the place. "A studio. Downtown. Do ... do you know where that is?"

"You suck at catching." Ruby grinned, her lips curling in a devilishly handsome way. She was devilishly handsome. Even if she was a woman with breasts and a vagina, she had more appeal than most men. It was why she was a lesbian, she couldnt stand to be with a man who seemed to be more feminine than herself. She didnt need to have a man do stuff for her. Hell, if she wanted to, she could probably fix Sybil's car. But what she wanted? Was the woman snug close against her back. Not in her car. So she kept that snippet of information to herself. Of course, there were a few other reasons why she didnt fuck with men anymore but no one needed to know those grotesque reasons.
She pushed a memory of the past away before it could resurface and focused back on Sybil. "Yes, I know it. My niece goes there sometimes to practice. And if thats not the right one-even though I'm positive it is-you could always direct me. Dominant woman are such a turn on you know. I'll follow your orders, say it, and I'm yours." She bit her lip to keep from laughing but then having not enough willpower to keep it in, she laughed out.
"Aw, sorry, I'm just teasing. Though, you can direct me," She said after she sobered up a bit. "I'll listen though I do think its the same one my niece goes to. Anyway, are you going to hop on? And give me that-" She held out her arm for the duffel bag, it would be easier for Ruby to hold it instead of Sybil. "Its your first time on a motorcycle-with me that is. You should just concentrate on holding tight to me and turning your body whenever I do-which is simple. If you feel me shift a little, just follow my body. And I can have that on my lap. So hand it over and make sure nothing of importance is in your buggy. You should also call the tow truck and tell him you're leaving your car here and going onwards, okay?"
She ran her other hand over her hair, rubbing the knot in her shoulder while waiting for the duffle bag and Sybil to do what she recommended.
"Whenever you're ready, just hop on and we can go."

Sybil refused - absolutely refused - for her body to act in such a traitorous way. How her insides got all melty for that smile (which was so manly that it shouldn't even be on a woman ... and yet Ruby pulled it off). The way her lips threatened and almost succeeded in returning Ruby's smile. (Of course, it wouldn't be devilishly handsome, but still.) Heck, she might have even giggled!
But she was extremely skilled in self-control. So instead of doing all of those things God and everybody would disapprove of, she scowled. "Thank you," she said neutrally, a tone she practiced all the time. The tone that kept her out of grounding at home.
Hearing that Ruby's neice went there to practice had her intrigued. Who was her neice? Was she from her troupe? Or Madame Rinaldi's - the troupe that was shrouded in so much mystery until a big dance competiton came up? Was her neice as bad as Ruby, by way of flirtation? As soon as Sybil opened her mouth to say that yes that was the one, Ruby continued to speak. This had Sybil wishing desperately to find a way out of this situation - and fast.
A dark red shade gripped her cheeks, then spreading all the way down. When someone laughed at something sexual, and Sybil was near or being referenced (which was hardly ever; her friends knew that they had to censor themselves because of her innocent ways) she became like she is now: flustered and so tongue-tied she couldn't speak.
Ruby's apology didn't make it any better.
At first, she held on tightly to the strap crossing her body. There were her ballet flats in there, as well as her wallet and her clothes to change into when she got to the dance studio. Important things. Things that she didn't want a stranger holding.
Then she reluctantly conceeded, the palm of her hand holding the helmet sweating profusely. Sybil ducked her head so that the strap could go over it, and held out the duffel bag to Ruby as if she was handing her soul to the devil. Ruby made sense; how was she supposed to hold onto her duffel bag when she'd be too busy freaking out over her riding a death trap for the first time? Besides, Sybil might think her things as valuable, but Ruby probably wouldn't like her things anyway. That, and Ruby didn't seem to be the type to steal.
Five to seven minutes and a phone call to the towing company later, she novicely put the helmet over her bun and straddled the bike. Sybil didn't know what to do with her hands. They stayed hovering behind Ruby's torso. Like pale ghosts not sure which house to haunt. "Where's your helmet?" Sybil suddenly asked.

Ruby tried to not smirk at the way Sybil took so long to give her the duffel bag. She acted as though Ruby would grab the bag and then drive off. Or that by giving her the bag-Sybil was giving her something she couldn't ever give back. Trust? No, it wasn't so meaningful as that. At least, Sybil shouldn't make it so. It was just a bag with material things. She was just some woman whom was just going to drive her towards the place Sybil needed to be. There was nothing meaningful about this. Nothing.
Ruby smiled at Sybil once she handed over the bag, "There we go. Not that hard was it? Yesh. You act as though you're signing a deal with the devil. Which I'm not. No need to worry about giving your soul to me. It'll still be as pure and complete as it was once we get there." Ruby put the strap around her chest and positioned the bag between her legs in a comfortable manner-staying silent as she let Sybil make the calls.
When she felt Sybil come close, Ruby stared at her, keeping her lips close still as she allowed Sybil to hop on. This time, she couldn't hold back the smirk that captured her lips. "I don't do helmets. Messes with my hair." She lied-she sometimes used her helmet whenever she felt like it. Today wasn't that kind of day. She waited until she felt Sybil relax a little behind her and then made the motorcycle purr.
"Oh...and if I were you? I'd hold on tight babe." She grinned and before the girl could say anything else, she lifted her foot and in a blink they were off-she wasn't going as fast so that Sybil wouldn't fall off but it was fast enough that she would feel those arms wrapped around her waist in a death grip. Once she felt that? Well Ruby was never a slow driver.

Despite the fact that Ruby called her "babe", Sybil did as she was told. Her arms were a vise around Ruby's middle. The wind whipped at her, as if it was her parents reprimanding her about not only getting on a motorcycle, but getting on with a stranger that was clearly a woman that didn't like men that way. She's going to get so grounded for this. Even though she was nineteen.
If she hadn't have been wearing a helmet, she would have had her cheek pressed against Ruby's back. Currently she had her thighs against Ruby's, which completed the image of them practically being sewed together. But she didn't mind. Why?
Because she was afraid that she was going to die. Forget her parents killing her! This thing was so fast and terrifying that when she leaned she closed her eyes and held her breath, thinking of the worst possible thing. Like if she leaned to far she was going to go tumbling into the other lane and getting ran over. This was the scariest thing ever, close to her preacher's "fire and brimstone" speeches.
Needless to say, as Ruby's death contraption rumbled to a stop it took a bit to actually realize that they did, indeed, stop. For a few seconds, she was still clinging to Ruby. Those few seconds had her realizing how close they were. Sybil felt Ruby's heartbeat, even. And it was a beautiful sound. The same sound that was in her own chest. In her parents' chest. In Lane's chest. It was awkward for her to admit it, but she ... wasn't expecting such a sound. Because Ruby was different.
Sybil quickly peeled her arms back and tried to get off of that thing as quickly as possible without looking like a fool. But she didn't, so she nearly tripped over her feet and fell down on the asphalt. Her hand grabbed hold of Ruby's out of instinct, heart in her throat. She didn't want to fall and skin her knee or something. "Sorry! Sorry-sorry-sorry!"

Ruby was grinning the entire drive; she loved the feel of Sybil behind her. It was strange? Those thighs looked so soft but Ruby could feel the muscles bunched up against her own, she could feel the strength of the little human that had her arms wrapped around her waist. And the small curves against her back? Ruby was practically breathing out hard by the time she stopped in front of the destination.
Her heartbeat skipped, a sense of calm overcame her in those few seconds of Sybil holding her and feeling Sybil's heartbeat against her back. It broke instantly when Sybil quickly pulled her arms away as though she couldn't wait to get away from Ruby. Ruby frowned? Her chest tightening. Why? Why did that small rejection hurt Ruby so fucking much? It annoyed Ruby.
But not enough for her to not save Sybil. She twisted the hand that Sybil had grabbed and wrapped her fingers along Sybil's wrist while grabbing Sybil's hip, pulling her close hard and fast to ensure her safety until once again, Sybil was safe against Ruby's body.
Ruby breathed in slowly, her face just a mere inches away from Sybil's, yellow flecks dancing along her gaze. Ruby moved her hand from Sybil's hip to the middle of her lower back, silent as she maneuver her left leg over the bike and then she pulled Sybil up with her, taking a few steps away from the bike.
"No need for sorry." Ruby finally breathed out slowly, letting go of that delicate wrist and slowly letting her hand fall away from Sybil's back. Slowly she unclip the helmet from Sybil's head and placed it on the bike's handle. Then she pulled the strap over her arm and placed it on Sybil's.
"There, see. Not so bad. You're alive. You got your precious duffel bag back and hopefully you're not late. Go on. I'll wait around for you to take you to the tow area if you want. Or i can drop you off to your house." She smiled and couldn't resist brushing that loose strand of blonde hair that had escaped Sybil's bun. It curled along Ruby's finger and Ruby inwardly groaned at how soft it felt against her skin. She slowly eased the strand behind Sybil's ear and tried to smile innocently but she wasn't sure if it was successful because for some god damn reason this woman just turned Ruby on in all the right places. It was most...annoying.

In reaction to Ruby's quick action, her eyes went wide. She didn't miss the yellow flecks in her gaze, and unsure whether or not Ruby's eyes held those flecks all along, she averted her gaze away shyly. She could clearly smell mint on her breath. Was it mint? Sybil wasn't sure, but it smelled good.
Her eyes landed on Ruby's mouth. They were working of their own accord. Her whole body was working of its own accord because it was reacting positively to Ruby's hand traveling from hip to back. This woman was doing things to her that she had never felt before. And she wasn't sure whether she liked it or not.
Her mouth was dry. So she licked her lips a bit before blushing and finally prying her gaze from Ruby. Her back felt cold from the lack of warmth Ruby's hand caused, but as soon as Ruby took the helmet and have her back the duffel she stepped away slowly. "You don't have to. I can find a ride." And just as soon as she unzipped her duffle bag to get her wallet out she shivered.
Traitor, she thought to her body. But she tried playing her reaction off by fishing out her wallet and opening it. "I-I'm sure you had something to do before you gave me a lift." And then she pulled out a couple of small bills and tried handing it to Ruby. "For gas."

If Ruby had been a feline instead of a eagle she would have purred at the sight of Sybil's wide eyed gaze and the way she shyly glanced away from her. Something akin to pleasure filled Ruby at the sight and she really wanted to just purr in content at the feel of Sybil against her and actually seeing that Sybil was seeing her as a woman. Once again, she wondered if Sybil was attracted towards her. God if she were any other woman Ruby would have pulled her closer and tasted those innocent looking lips.
But Ruby wouldnt do that for the sole reason that that was the only thing that Ruby had been wanting to do since she's met the little minx at the grocery market. "Hm." Ruby watched Sybil, putting her hands back in her pockets to avoid touching her again. She bit her bottom lip, catching that little shiver that ran through Sybil's body and tried to not smile.
"Alright, just make sure that they drive safe." She waved away the wallet the moment she saw Sybil taking it out. "I dont want money. But I'll take this..." Ruby leaned forward, gently brushing her lips against the delicate left cheekbone of Sybil's before standing back, "for payment." She winked, moved on over to her bike and stashed the helmet back in its compartment before sliding one leg over the machine.
"You be safe now, Sybil. I'll see you around."
