"Nathaniel Constantine is not of her blood." Jackson shot back at the god, staring up at him for a mere second and then rolling his eyes. "The children are. Hm." Jackson was silent for a moment as he thought to himself, then he smiled just a tad bit to himself. "I guess I did threaten her blood. But really, thats just to play with her emotions. I'm interested in Nathaniel, not the children. If they get in my way, maybe I'll do something about them."
He shrugged, maybe he did have a cold heart.
Not that he cared however.
He glanced back at Loki and cocked his head, raising his brow at the man. He had finally put two and two together as to why Loki would want to protect something. Simple. Bloodline. The children had powerful blood in them. Jackson waited a moment, staring at the man. Wondering his curiosity.
The pups didnt scare Jackson, in fact the sight of them made Jackson more at ease. He smiled down at the wolves and then bended, slapping his thighs and murmuring encouraging words at them to come over and play with him as Loki dealt with his inability to form words.
What he finally did say made Jackson pause. The word sizzled all through Jackson, leaving him in a shocked and vulnerable state. It was a curse that followed through his family's line. Through his Coven. Zings were each witch or wizards' mate. Their destined one. In his line, they found their zing alright. Everything would be alright for a few months, if one was lucky-maybe even years. There would even be a child involved. But without doubt, the Zing would reject the Nox, leaving the Nox in a state where they would be unable to do nothing but mourn their losses and still obsess from afar.
It happened with his great grandmother, his grandmother, his mother and everyone else in his family. He was next in line for the curse.
Jackson stood, dusted off his jeans and turned his gaze towards the bastard.
"She's not. If she was, you know that her death would have been immediate." After all, Jackson had swore off his zing from a young age and even publicly announced that he'd bring a end to the curse and kill his zing instead, since nothing else had ever worked for the Nox Clan.
"Just lead me already. I grow tired of these word games."

"Oh, Jackson, you know Skoll and Hati don't like it when you treat them like common dogs."
The wolf on Jackson's left stopped growling, then snapped his jaws before speaking. It was rough and gravelly, his voice. Like Ludin when he was in his true form, though Loki highly doubted Jackson met the boys' brother. "Eat you – breakfast." And on Jackson's right Hati made a sound from his throat, as if he was laughing.
"Now, knock it off." Loki wasn't serious in his scolding, though, because he only shook his head.
Jackson's immediate defense was amusing. So amusing, in fact, that he laughed. It was a hearty laugh, and he tilted his head back to let the sound travel to the stars that decided to come out and play ten minutes before. The wolves didn't know what was so funny to their grandfather, but they wagged their tales as if they found Jackson's words funny too.
Suddenly, he stopped laughing only to raise an eyebrow. "Then I don't understand why she is so interesting to you." Before Jackson could give a reason, even if he planned to, he waved his hand dismissively. "No matter."
His body morphed, growing bigger, his face elongating and skin becoming tough. Where the god was standing moments before towered a pterodactyl. Thankfully, there was no moon. Evening became dark night, so no one would know an animal that ought to be extinct was flying above them.
Loki lowered his wing. Skoll and Hati disappeared. And as soon as Jackson hopped on, Loki took flight.

Thea didn't stop thrashing in her haste to be let go. She growled ferociously, and yes, her mind was too fogged for her to see sense. Otherwise she would have changed in order to slip from Kenneth's hold. "F*CK the treaty!" She screamed. "You would have found someway around it anyway!" And she thrashed some more, feeling her stomach start to bruise up from where Kenneth kept her close.
At this point, Thea was near hysterics. Too much into hysterics to see that she did, indeed, get burned. The smell of burnt flesh barely registered in her mind. She didn't feel any pain. Selena just calling her mother a very not nice word had Thea spurred even more to get away from Kenneth. If only to throttle Selena again.
"Too long!" she protested, her face scrunched up. "It'll take too long! And I don't trust anyone here enough with my siblings! They're not coming over here, whether or not Nightstar will release them!" Her heart started to beat faster. Harder. Her ribs hurt so much from keeping it it as well as Kenneth's grasp on her. "Either way they'll be dead!"
Thea didn't know how much she hurt until Kenneth let go of her, where she was too busy struggling to be let go that she stumbled a few steps before falling to one knee. The jarring impact made her inhale sharply, where she found out that her ribs were bruised at best. There was a wince, and she grabbed her side with the hand that was burned, which made her hiss sharply. Looking down, she saw how pink and raw the back of it was, and the way it traveled to just below her elbow.
She didn't know how long she stayed in that position, her eyes wide as the adrenaline finally died down only to be replaced with pain. Some f*ckin' secret, she thought wretchedly to herself. Out loud she snappedat Lena (who had brought her out of her trance), "No, I am not level-headed! The treaty is void, but you expect me to lead you right to my family. Oh, why the hell not?!" She stood up roughly, stumbling as she got to her feet. "While Jackson is busy murdering Nathaniel I'll just take out Jewel while Selena makes off with the babies!" Thea said it in a deeper tone, mocking Kenneth simply because she knew that he wanted the treaty gone. And then she spoke in her regular tone; harsh. Bitter. "Might as well lead my family to their deaths." She took the guns anyway, knowing that if they weren't useful, she always had back ups at her mother's house. And Iggy and her mate could help.
She was the first one out those doors, her mind in twenty different directions at once. On the way she picked up her crack-screened phone and slipped it into her back pocket. She was silent until they got to where the intercom Jackson used to communicate with them was. The lack of his presence was foreboding, and Thea's throat closed up in fear. It had only been fifteen minutes at most! Yet it didn't even look like he had been there at all.

"You're really not thinking straight if you think I'd do anything to jeopardise losing you." Lena scoffed at her cousin.
"You seriously don't trust me?! Me?! After all I've done for you, all I've changed and sacrificed?! I'm a mother for fucks sake! I'd never harm children and yes, I wouldn't save your precious bird and that woman, but I wouldn't kill them, you know why?! Because of you! I'd go back to save you!" Lena watched her fall and saw the hurt and anger in Kenneth's eyes that mirrored her own. "I was going with you to help you, but now I'll stay here with Kenneth! Fucking save the world yourself!"
Lena went over to her and she pulled out her water bottle from her pocket and threw water on Thea. Before she could react, Lena grasped her hand and pushed the last of her useful magic into Thea and attempted to heal her wounds. Lena gasped as she let go and crumbled to the floor.
Kenneth helped her to her feet and held Lena up. "If you think I'd hurt children, then you don't know me! I never said I'd kill anyone...I said I'd save children! I never said I'd kill those two, yes, I wouldn't save them because they are adults and the children and you are what would have mattered to me!" Lena gasped as black spots started in front of her eyes. "Get out! And while you're trying to save the world, I hope you think about how much help I've been in the past and how much help I could have been. I hope the children live and if you want your job and the treaty back, then you have 3 days to apologise to me." Lena said.
"I apologise for not telling you about my magic and burning you...I think you should go now." Lena gasped and then passed out. Kenneth picked Lena up in a bridal hold and glared at Thea.
"Go save your precious family and be with your lovely Jackson...but if/when you come back, come back sorry." Kenneth said. "Remember what I told you in the woods," Kenneth said as he looked down at Lena. "She would do anything and everything for you. She was worried you'd look at her differently because of her magic and the magic attacked you because you attacked it's host." Kenneth told Thea. Kenneth moved away from the door and took Lena away.
"Now GO! She might...no, she will forgive you, but it's going to be harder for me!" Kenneth scoffed and walked away.

Harley jumped up on the counter and watched as her daddy warmed up the milk in the pot of boiling water. She was old enough to reach the counter, it being at least four feet high, and old enough as well to know that it was frown worthy of her to do so. She did so anyways. Hey, she could still play the kid card, might as well.
Harley grinned a little at her daddy's intense attention on the bottle of his hands, how he twisted it back and forth every few seconds or dipped it deeper into the pot where it threaten to scald the tips of his fingers. She remembered this scene from her own memory not so long ago, although back then he had been more nervous, fingers would be shaking in insecurity and he would fret with both water temperature and the actual milk temperature before finally feeding his firstborn. Or the only child he knew he had up until a few weeks ago.
But now, there was a steady confidence in how he worked with the bottles as though he had done this a hundred times. Harley liked being his little watch dog, both because she enjoyed being in her fathers company and because she wanted to make sure that her baby brothers and sister food was luke warm and not scolding hot.
Daddy turned just a bit and like Harley anticipated, one thick eyebrow arched up at the sight of the teen on top of the kitchens counter. Harley couldn't resist the smirk that instantly flew on her face.
He tsked but Harley saw that slow curve of a smile threatening to show. Then, very softly to not let the wolf in the other room hear, he said: "Just make sure Mommy doesn't see you. It'll be our secret." After a wink, the smile showed and Harley giggled just a little.
"Deal." Harley winked back and then went back to watching the bottles twist and turn in the boiling pot. Once Daddy was satisfied with the temperature of the four bottles, he grabbed them in one palm and scoop up the mischievous dare devil in his other hand.
"Or maybe...I just might tell Mommy after all!" Nathaniel cooed with half a smile.
Harley gasped, her dark eyebrows coming together with a frown. "Daddy!!! You promised!" She half exclaimed and half whispered, still careful to not let the wolf pick up on their conversation. Especially since they were walking in her direction.
Nathaniel promptly flashed his teeth and then shrugged. "You're right. I did. A promise is a promise. Lips are sealed." He winked at his daughter who smugly grinned at his compliance until finally they turned the corner and was rewarded with the sight of Jewel sitting in the middle of the thick soft blanket that was spread out on the family room's floor with four babies lying on their bellies.
Jewel's hair was up in a messy ponytail, stands of hair came out of its hold and caressed her face. She wore comfy clothes, which happened to be one of his shirts and some leggings. She looked tired with the untidiness of her hair and attire, she even slouched just a little as she stared at the children. But even though she appeared to be tired, her eyes were alive and burning with a emotion so powerful it threaten to bring Nathaniel down to his knees.
Love.
She stared at the newborns with such a intensity of love and protection and fierceness and adoration that Nathaniel knew that she was slouching not because she was tired but because she wanted to be closer to the babes that curled around the comfy blanket. Her hair was out of place because she'd rather be with the kids than take the time and effort it took to fix her hair. She'd rather throw on whatever just so that she could be with them longer. And when any of them cried out in the middle of the night, even with a double shift at the Infirmary, Jewel didn't even grumble under her breath as she got off the bed. No, she eased off a bed with a worried frown and always came back longer than was needed with a happy smile.
It was...god he didn't even have a word for it.
Love.
That same love was mirrored in his eyes as he stared down at his everything's and felt Harley wiggle out of his grasp and back onto the thick blanket once more. Curling a little around her sister Hallie while gently stroking Jasper's back.
"Hm." He smiled and got out of his flip flops and moved onto the blanket as well, sitting beside Jewel once more and placing the bottles down towards the side as Dimitri tried lifting his head and was successful once again.
He had been about to touch Jewel's backside, wanting to feel the touch of her skin under his fingers when his name was shouted in a singsong tone just outside their new home. Instantly his body grew tense and dread clung to his mind. He had heard that voice before.
It was his.
And since he hadn't spoken. It only meant that it was his son. Whom he had never met. Whom had wanted to kill him. Whom called him thousands of times and sang to him about how he'd kill everything Nathaniel held dear and then kill Nathaniel in the end.
Jackson.
"Help me take the kids to their room." And without saying anything else, Nathaniel grabbed Jasper and Hallie and made for their rooms upstairs, with a small "Harley lets go" command, even as the chant outside became louder.
-
Jackson knew he showed have stayed quiet and used surprise for him. But he wanted Nathaniel to know as soon as he gotten to the ground that he was here. "Oh Nathaniiiiielllll!" He had sang loudly, staring at the tall house that Loki had taken him to. He knew the god was a trickster but for some reason (whether because he knew the coordinates for the house anyways or because he felt it in his bones) Jackson knew that Nathaniel was just beyond these walls.
It...excited him.
Knowing that after all this fucking time, he would finally finally be able to have his fathers blood on his hands and end that bastards heart for good this time. It made his skin tingle.
"Nathaniel Nathaniel come out come out wherever you are!" He half shouted half sang, laughing all the same. "Come on Nathaniel! Or do you want me to come inside? Nathaniiiiielllll! Come out. Come out."
"Nathaniel!" He snapped, annoyed at the lack of appearance coming from the house. It was as though his father didn't even deem him worthy of running out the door in terror. Didn't deem him worthy to show his face even after all these years. Even after knowing of Jackson's existence. Anger.
More anger than Jackson realized that Nathaniel hadn't wanted to see him when he had called. Sure. Jackson had been threatening to kill the old man but still. Wouldn't a father still want to see his son? The epiphany of this, forced anger through Jackson's veins and hence? The magic boiled inside of him.
This time when he called out for his father, no longer was he singing.

For the first couple of days after returning from the Nightstar hospital, she was sore. As sore as she was, she couldn't stay away from her children. Right now, even. Especially right now. It was uncomfortable for her to slouch like she was, but without hogging up the whole blanket, she couldn't help it. Jewel wanted to have her children by her constantly.
With one hand on Lucian's back, feeling that his breathing was strong with every rise of his tiny body, the other instinctively reaching out toward Nate. A smile lit her face, a tired but loving smile.
Suddenly, everything seemed to stop. Nathaniel's voice sounded through the house, but it wasn't Nathaniel, because she was watching his face. The only person that it had to be was Jackson. Her husband's eldest son. To be honest, he frightened her. The only person that had that much rage and desire to go through with their plans of revenge was Thea. Most of the time, Thea was harsh. Jewel saw it with her very eyes. But Thea had Selena to hold her back. Her mate, too, whatever his name was. Jackson didn't have anyone.
There was no chain to hold the raging beast.
She was quick to pick Dimitri and Lucian up, but careful to have their faces gently pressed against her shoulders, her forearm bracing their backs as she walked quickly to the stairs.
Over the roaring of her ears, all she could hear was Nathainiel's name, the owner of the voice getting angrier and angrier with each passing second.
***
As soon as he let Jackson down, he switched forms. Where a dark-colored pterodactyl had been flew away a bat to the high branch if a nearby tree.
He debated on going to get Thea. After all, Thea really wanted to be here. And he didn't believe that Jackson was telling the truth about his zing. He was curious to see if Thea would tell him the truth and react as a lot of other zings did.
Thea probably wouldn't jump on the back of a pterodactyl. Or anything that he changed into to make the travel easier and shorter, really. He was, after , the god of trickery. Her speedy arrival was for his gain, she would believe - if she would even think a god would want to help her. It was true, evidently, that it wasn't for Thea's concern, but for his interest.
So he sat, with his grandsons circling - silent and invisible - around the tree. Watching, and waiting.

Nathaniel gently placed Hallie down on the crib first, his movements were calm and precise even as the taunting from outside grew louder. After making sure that she would be fine, he place down Jasper next in the same manner. After all, their safety were his main concern.
Hallie looked like she was about to cry, not enjoying the sudden change in setting but Nathaniel brushed his forefinger against her eyebrows, tracing the delicate curve until he saw her eyes close in bliss. His youngest daughter loved that. Loved having her ears and her eyebrows played with whilst she laid down. It was a bedtime lure.
His heart tugged and he watched as Jewel place down the boys. Worry in her gaze.
"Who's outside...." Harley's voice was but a whisper, and the fear that was laced in with the words made a protective urge fill Nathaniel to the brim. After all, Eagles were very protective of their kin. Even if the danger was another of his blood.
Nathaniel crouched down to get on eye level with his oldest daughter, the confident smile that covered his face wasn't hard to conjure. "Someone from the past baby girl. It's going to be okay, alright? Just stay here with your little brothers and sisters and with Mommy." He said that to his daughter just as much as he said it to his wife. Because he knew that Jewel wanted to be two places at once, with the children and with him, while he faced the only child of his he never met.
"He sounds like you daddy. But scarier. I'm scared." Harley hugged herself, slouching her shoulders as though she was trying to curve herself into a ball whist standing up.
Immediately Nathaniel pulled her into his arms, petting her soft hair and breathing in her scent, allowing his own to calm her down. Letting her feel the warmth of his embrace so that she would know, that daddy was right here. "Everything will be alright. I'll make the scary man go away. But I need you to be strong and watch over the babies and Mommy. You can do that right Harley baby?"
Harley pulled back just a bit, eyes slightly red but with a determine twinkle in her gaze now. "I can." Her voice wasn't that much higher than a whisper but now there was only a strand of fear lace in. He'd take it. Nathaniel grinned at his daughter and kissed her nose.
"That's my trooper." He stood and then turned to his wife. They stared at each other for a long moment, not saying anything. Then, Nathaniel moved next to her, his fingers suddenly curled at the nape of her neck. Their foreheads touched and Nathaniel breathed in Jewel's breath, his fingers digging just a little into her skin as he tried bringing her closer to him.
Warmth and lavender.
His everything.
He forced himself to let go. To drag his fingers away from her warm skin and to step back, looking into those lovely brown eyes. God.
"I love you."
Then he left, closing the door to the children's bedroom behind him and then moving down the stairs. The taunting outside had turned to shouts. He steeled himself in facing a child he had never known he sired. A child, that had he known of, his life may have turned out very differently because Nathaniel would never abandon a child of his. Even now, with the threat of death looming beyond these walls, Nathaniel found himself hesitating of having to do what was necessary to protect his family. Because the person screaming was his child. A child who had never gotten a father. A child who had grew up angry and alone. A child who threw all of that anger and pain in the only way he could. Into revenge. Into Nathaniel. The father that had never been there for him. How could Nathaniel protect his family when it was his family on the other side of the door?
Could he do what was necessary to protect what was upstairs? Of his newborns and of Harley, and Jewel? Had it been anyone else beyond the wall-Nathaniel could have. He could kill someone who threaten his family without a speck of guilt or hesitation. But that was his child out there. Could Nathaniel look into his boy's eyes and kill him if he needed to? Could he?
Nathaniel glanced up the stairs, still feeling the warmth of Jewel's skin on his fingertips and forehead. Could he? Nathaniel glanced into one of the many rooms on the first floor, knowing it to be a secret weapons room. And yet? He didn't enter. Didn't dare to go inside and take a weapon to protect his family with. And then he had his answer.
He couldn't.
Not with the knowledge that it was his own son outside. A son that he had, though not purposely, forsaken. He couldn't.
"I love you." He whispered up the stairs, smiling sadly. At least, the boy only really wanted his father. That knowledge was all Nathaniel needed to walk out the front door and face his eldest.
-
Jackson saw the door tremble and then saw a man step out, closing the door behind him as he walk forward from the porch. He was tall, wearing a white t-shirt and sweats, and was barefoot. His hair was down, curling slightly over his ears as dark hazel bronze eyes stared out at him. Tattoos clung to his bare skin on his forearms. Jackson could see earrings on the man's ears. The man looked...just like his mother had remembered him.
The image of the man coming out of the house was the same image Jackson's mother had painted for him all the years of his childhood. Of course, Jackson had seen recent pictures and even video clippings of Nathaniel but even so, this was the first time that Jackson was face to face with his father.
"You take after me I see." His father had spoken, his eyes were hooded of emotion but there was something in his voice that Jackson couldn't decipher. Not that he wanted to anyways.
"Unfortunately." Jackson barked at him, feeling slightly strange since it was like talking to a mirror. At least now he truly could see why people often mistaken him for Nathaniel. They truly did look alike. Even their personalities.
"Unfortunately." Nathaniel repeated his son's words, unable to stop the small smile that quirk his lips. His son was like another version of him. Truly, from this far away, Nathaniel couldn't see the subtle differences that told them apart. And yet? The sight of the boy both made him feel a pain of guilt and of happiness. Guilt because he had never been in his life. Happiness because the boy had grew up seemingly alright. Besides from a little father hate.
"Are you going to kill me now?" Nathaniel asked, stepping down from the stairs that brought one up to the house. Moving closer to the enemy. To his son.
Nathaniel watched the boy tremble as if he has been shot with a reminder. Then, Nathaniel could finally see the rage burn inside his son's gaze. Could feel the anger try to drown him it its scorching grip. And the guilt and pain of abandonment only intensified within Nathaniel.
Now, a few several feet away from his boy, Nathaniel paused and took a good look at him. Trying to put a picture of what his mother could have looked like. Who it could have been. But alas, all Nathaniel could see was himself.
And it was as though he had been looking at himself. Who hated his parents. Hated them with a vengeance because they had sold him and his brother off at a whores brothel. They had laughed with glee with the few hundred dollars that they had gotten and didn't even glance back at their children. They had abandon him and Timothy without a second thought. And now...now Nathaniel had abandon Jackson. He had done the same thing to his child that his parents had done to him. And Nathaniel knew all to well how broken one could be because their parents decided to abandon them.
"I'm sorry." Was all he could say as Jackson strike out.

Lucian paid no attention to the change of setting. He was already fussy to begin with, but he was even more so when Jewel knew that tonight wasn't going ti end as peacefully as she hoped. God, she was so worried; Lucian picked up on it easily. Not even his pacifier eased his cries.
With shaky fingers, she caressed the top of his head. "Tout va bien, Luc," she wispered, since she couldn't bear to speak louder than that. A few seconds later, he finally took his pacifier, yet still reached out for his mother and brother.
She took a few steps to the left, to Dimitri's own crib. As she had to lay him down, she found it difficult for her to pry his little fingers off her shirt. Her body swayed from side to side, gradually bending down and almost toppling into the cradle with her eldest before finally letting go.
It was almost impossible to let go and turn away from her children -all of them. She was feeling a bit better as she methodically turned on their mobiles, pausing for just a few seconds at her husband's words to Harley. Was he seriously thinking of going out there?
Then again, why wouldn't he? Nathaniel was the type to face his problems, not cower away. She loved him for many reasons, and this was one of them. Oh she didn't want to think of Jackson as a problem. But he was. He wanted Nathaniel dead. To her, that was definitely a red flag.
Jewel found herself wanting to go out there with him. Her love was haunted by ghosts, though this one was corporeal, and she wanted to take care of it. At the same time, she knew she had to stay. She wanted to stay. For her babies. As she stared at him, her chest tightened, as if there was an iron band around it. Her feet moved of their own accord. Her head tilted up instinctively. Felt the comforting touch on her neck, her arms responding by wrapping themselves around his torso.
"Please don't leave," she begged. But too soon, he let her go. And all she could do was murmur with tears in her eyes, "I love you more."

Nathaniel couldn't fulfill her request of staying inside the house where it was safe, even though he wanted to for the sole reason because he didn't enjoy causing Jewel to worry. He also couldn't necessarily tell her not to worry because well he wasn't sure what was going to happen. So he smiled at his wife and his children before closing the door behind him.
His son in front of him was angry. Full of pent up hatred so when Jackson threw his fist, it connected hard against Nathaniel's face, knuckles cracking the delicate cartilage that was Nathaniel's nose. The blow made a audible pop as blood spilled both onto Nathaniel's face and Jackson's fist.
"Yes." Jackson spat, shaking his fingers as he backed up from his father and watched with slight satisfaction as blood oozed down Nathaniel's face.
"That was quite the punch." There was pain evident in his tone but besides from that, Nathaniel looked like he always did. With a sly smile, he rubbed his chin and then touched his nose, feeling it crooked and then with a bite of his lips, he popped it back into place. "Good for you. Someone taught you well." Nathaniel licked the blood that was covering his lips and stared at the boy.
"Oh yes. Someone taught me very well." Jackson rubbed the blood between his fingers, warming it up with both his body heat and the magic that coursed through his veins. "You know. You should never give a Nox your blood." He said softly, feeling his chest expand with the crushing hatred and power that he kept contained.
Something seemed to click in Nathaniel's eyes and then a sad smile came to his lips. "Nox? You're Bella's boy. She never told me she was pregnant. She told me to leave in fact."
"Liar. She loved you. Mom was crazy over you. She still is." Jackson snapped, his voice rising due to Nathaniel's confession, crushing his fingers into a fist, Nathaniel's blood spreading over Jackson's skin.
"I was miserable." Nathaniel admitted. He was never a relationship kind of guy back then. Bella had somehow been able to keep him interested longer than a month. In a way, he supposed she was considered a girlfriend. But as every woman before Jewel and Lena he supposed, he got tired. Bored. Miserable. He actually liked Bella which was why he didn't want to cheat on her even though he was done with her. So he stayed around. Went through the motions of being with her. Until finally she told him to just go. And Nathaniel left. Faster than he expected. But she had never mention that she had been pregnant. Had she? He would have stayed and tried to be interested once again. "She saw that and told me to leave. Bella never told me about you, Jackson. She let me go with no hard feelings. For a while, we stayed in touch. She had the opportunity to let me know she was pregnant. And yet, she said nothing."
"Shut up." Jackson gritted his teeth, feeling his fathers blood dry just a little with the night's breeze on his skin.
"I would have stayed. My parents abandon me as well. I would never do that to a child of mine. Never." Nathaniel took a step forward but then stopped.
"I said shut up." Jackson's right hand extended and almost instantaneously Nathaniel flew back, his body colliding against the big oak tree near the house. Jackson stared at his outstretched hand, at the bright red blood stain across his skin, and gently unclenched his fist.
He slowly walked on over to his father who was now convulsing at the bottom of the tree. "Witch families each have a specialty so that neither of the covens are too powerful than the other. You've lived among us for a while so you should know our speciality." Jackson crouched down to his knees, staring into his father's eyes. His hair was covering them, so Jackson brushed his hair away, feeling the feverish temperature of his skin and the blood boiling inside of its containment.
"Such a painful way to die isn't it. We killed the wrong person and got cursed. But. It does come in handy. Nice meeting you Dad." He practically spat the last word out and then let go of the fine hair of his father's. When the strand of hair fell against Nathaniel's head, his body exploded.
Or should have.
Instead Nathaniel stopped convulsing immediately as if a switch had been turned off. He breathed the night air and felt his blood lower to its regular temperature and then finally his skin didn't feel as if it had been melting right off his bones. Everything hurt too much to sit up, so Nathaniel just laid there. Content to feel the night breeze cooling his seemingly still hot skin.
"I don't understand." Jackson said more to himself as he stared at his father, still crouched down low. In puzzlement, he threw his magic at the man lying beside him again, this time with all the power he could muster and...nothing. The man continued to breathe normally. My God. The man should have exploded by now. His blood rising to such a temperature that he should have gone "pop".
Jackson tried again but this time he grabbed the knife in his pocket, sliced his hand that still had Nathaniel's blood and watched his own blood spill. His blood carried magic. Carried the core of his power. He even went so far as to touch Nathaniel's face as he forced the power out of him and into the other man.
Nothing.
"Fine." He grabbed the forgotten knife and plunged in through Nathaniel's throat. Or tried to. The knife stopped inches away from Nathaniel's skin and didn't move any lower. Jackson pushed down on the knife, his fingers slipping down the hilt. It didn't even move a fraction. He pulled it away from Nathaniel and it came easy enough.
"What the hell." Jackson threw the knife away in disgust and sat down on his ass, covering his face with his hands. Feeling like pulling on his hair.
Nathaniel just...laughed.
"What's wrong son? Can't kill your daddy? Don't have it in you?" His voice was sort of breathless. As if he had just come out of a roller coaster.
"Trust me. I have it in me. I can't stand to look at you." Jackson spat out, looking at the man on the floor. He had stopped bleeding by now and besides from looking slightly shaken up, he still looked alive and well. Jackson hated it.
Nathaniel felt a chill go through him. He was still somewhat alive. Somehow. He didn't know why. But he learnt to not really question it. "You can't kill me it seems. God knows you've tried your hardest." Nathaniel eased up until he was leaning against the trunk. He took a deep breath and then turned towards his son.
"So now what."

Thea never gave much thought to anything as soon as she found that Jackson was no longer there. No, to be honest, there wasn't even a thought process that worked properly since Kenneth and Selena kicked her out. Otherwise, she would have let Selena fix what she had caused as well as the bruising Kenneth's immense strength did to her ribcage. But here she was, adrenaline pumping through her as she shifted, white fur replacing skin and brown locks. Her arm still sported a red mark of fresh skin from the burn halfway up her foreleg.
This didn't stop her. The adrenaline and fear she felt was grand, causing for her to go swift. Swift, she found, can only do so much. She could still be stopped by a worried gorilla-shifter at the borders of the Nightstar pack. And as soon as she was, her lungs screamed for the air that was necessary. Her arm demanded unavailable medical attention. Andy was asking why she was in such a rush. It took all she had to stop dead in her tracks before shifting, saying briefly, "Nate's in trouble", then shifting back and nudging Andy in the direction from which he came from.
As soon as he started at a run, Thea moved past him, not waiting to even attempt at stopping her from murdering Jackson.
Her presence wasn't meant to be hidden. In fact, she wanted to see Jackson's hazel eyes before they had the spark of life leaving them. Besides, even if she did try to hide it, her burnt leg would give her away. Really, now that she had stopped, her bad leg had her limping. But just barely. It was enough to have her slow down considerably, to where she was content enough to emerge from the woods, a snarl on her lips that showed her desire to kill tonight.
Her eyes, ears, mind, and nose was set all on Jackson. Behind her, Andy came out, his claymore glinting in the light of the house Nathaniel lived in. If he didn't have a serious look to his face - something completely out of character for him - more than likely no one would take him seriously due to his faded Guns 'n' Roses tee. "What the hell?" he barked, looking from the stranger to the white wolf he followed to the wounded pack mate he had. "How did you get past the borders?"

Jackson glared at his father, it was all he could do at the moment. He felt tired. Maybe even weak. He had exhausted his abilities to the point that he felt like he needed a nap to reciprocate. Which was practically unheard of coming from Jackson. Although it was true that the woman usually had more power than the men in the covens, Jackson could overjuice a lot of the people in his coven. He had just put too much in such a short time into Nathaniel and for some reason, it didn't work.
Jackson had a theory for that and it concerned a woman who was still too much in love with him. Someone who was still trying her best to make sure that he was alive and well. Someone who knew of Jackson's hatred and would just smile softly at every moment that he'd swear to be the cause of his father's death. His damn mother.
The wolf emerging from the woods around them gave him the excuse to not speak to his father. It gave him a few moments to catch his breath and try to gather his strength. He had forgotten Thea for a moment there. That she would eventually catch up to him. He felt himself frowning at her wounds and felt the trickle of strength and power that was still in him. He could have healed her but knew that he would probably have to use the little juice he had to protect himself from her.
Because in his state, it wouldn't be hard for a wolf to bite into him and tear his heart to shreds. He wasn't in any state to fully protect himself.
Nathaniel glanced at Andy and Thea, felt the protective urge of every parent rise to the top as he stared at Jackson from the corner of his eyes who looked almost as weak as his newborn children safety tucked upstairs.
"Calm down tiger." Nathaniel told the snarling wolf who was as much or maybe even more of a child to him than the boy sitting next to him. He felt her desire for blood but if Nathaniel had anything to do about it, there would be no more blood shed. He found the strength to ease up from the ground, scraping his back a little from the tree. He kept a hand on the tree, because his head was still dizzy and his body ached in one of the worst ways possible.
It was a good time he was used to this spell. Bella's mother had done it to him once. He hadn't wanted to experience it ever again. Especially when it was worst with his son.
"Hackles down Thea." He eased around his son until he was standing in between his packmates and his son. He turned to Andy and smiled just a little. "Hey Andy man. Nice seeing you again." He glanced at Jackson, his shoulders were slumped down as though it hurt to even sit up.
"He's my son." Was all Nathaniel had to say to answer Andy's question. "Wings make it easy to pass through the boundary. Don't worry. He's pretty harmless now." Nathaniel glanced at Thea. Honestly, between the two of them. He was more worried with the wolf than the gorilla.
"Thea." He spoke her name with a father's tone, the same kind he used to Harley whenever she did something naughty. "Your mother is in the house with the children. They're safe and sound. Just like she is. Jackson didn't hurt anyone and he can't injure me critically. Everything's fine. So hide those big bad teeth, you wolf."
He glanced back at Andy, his fingers digging into the tree trunk. "Want to join us for some tea-"
Jackson fell to the floor and collapsed into darkness.

Andy wasn't smiling. He couldn't reciprocate Nate's expression; frankly, it seemed that neither could Thea.
"Calm down?" Thea hissed shortly after shifting back to her human form. Her breathing was heavy. Whether it was due to her long journey or the pain she was undoubtedly feeling, Andy didn't know. "After what he did to us, you're telling be to calm down?!"
Andy stopped her from moving forward with a commanding arm slung to his side, a barricade between her and the two men. He didn't need a dead body only top of a near-dead one. Though for the moment, Thea stopped herself, looked at Jackson for a few fleeting seconds, then growled. More to herself than anyone. Andy wasn't sure what that was about, but he didn't have time to wonder.
"Rest assured I'm going to fix that. No one is going to get the upper hand on me anymore. And you're going to help me on that." Maybe it wasn't such a great idea to have Nathaniel help him with the bird traps - he looks as if he might tell Jackson all about it as soon as they'd get them all up. But Andy was a prankster at heart. He always kept people on their toes. He'd change the set-up every so often, just like he did with his land traps. With that thought in mind, he raised his claymore up in an arc before sheathing it behind his back. "At this point, I couldn't care less about who he is. To me, he is a rogue, first and foremost. And rogues have no business here. Especially when his sole purpose in coming here was to screw with my pack!"
The open palm holding Thea back turned into a fist, showing just how angry he was. When his usually-jovial demeanor turned sour, this never really turned out well on his part.
Thea, thankful that she wasn't the only one seeing something wrong with how he protected Jackson like he was a saint, just grew angrier at the fact that Nate was simply assuring her all was well. All was NOT well. "Well, thank God for that!" she spat. "Though I still want him dead." Then she was taken aback at his tone of voice, just now registering it. Then she laughed, a bitter laugh that had no mirth in it at all.
She could not believe that he would actually pull the "Dad" card on her.
Before Andy could answer him with his own stern voice, his eyes darted to the now-prone Jackson on the ground. His eyes went wide, now fearing if he was dead. He quickly looked to Thea, asking himself if she was much stronger than he realized, using telekenetic powers or some crazy mumbo jumbo to actually kill him. It turned out, by the wide-set of her brown eyes, that she wasn't expecting it either.
"This is crazy," he muttered, letting his arm dangle before stepping forward, closing the distance between him and the men. "A lot of f*ckin' paperwork." Then he bent down, ignoring anything Nate would or could say, to check the unconscious man's pulse. To his relief, he was still alive. "Knocked out cold." Then he went to grab Jackson's wrist in order to bend down and lug his body weight over his shoulder. Orso, you awake?
It was a few minutes before he got a response. Haven't gone to bed yet.
[/i]Good, because I need you over at Nate's house. We need another medic.[/i]

Nathaniel wiped the now semi-dried blood off of the stubble against his lips and went limp against the tree, using it to hold himself up while Thea and Andy spoke. "Mmhm." He responded to his daughter and friend, as she spat out her anger.
He glanced at Andy and nodded. "Sure. Im all about protecting the pack better. I'm a little too weak at the moment so it'd have to wait. I'm sure my niece Evanna would be more than happy to help." After all, with her sister having been taken in the pack, Evanna was all about making it more difficult for rogues to get in.
"I know he's a rogue. But he's done no harm to anyone besides me. But that's just personal and he's practically toppling over. I think my little Harley is stronger than him." He chuckled just a little and watched as Andy came closer, he turned his attention to Thea. Knowing that Jackson would be fine. After all, his heartbeat was still going strong.
"Sometimes we can't get what we want. It's life. Deal with it kiddo. Now come here and let me look at you. I don't know who's worst out of the three of us." Nathaniel cough and waved his hand over, it was all he could do.
"Thank you Andy. He's pretty juiced out."
Then, he opened the mate bond that was strong between him and Jewel and let her feel him through the bond. "I'm okay darling but I'm going to need a medical evaluation later. Thea came in, she looks pretty burnt up and she's been shifting forms too much too soon, not giving her wolf enough time to heal the wounds. So she needs some medic experience." he paused and glanced at Jackson who was unresponsive just a few feet away.
"The boy is knocked out. He went through too much magic it seems and it took its toll on his body. Can I bring him inside the house or no? It's safe to come out. Andy's here as well. How's the kids?"
He pointed at the porch to Andy. "There's a couch on the porch, im not sure if Jewel would want him inside. You know how she is with her cubs. Thea? Get to your mother so she can check you out. She's not gonna be happy, with either of us." But while he said it, Nathaniel was smiling. He was alive for her to scream at him and she could scream all she wanted. It would be like music to his ears.

"I wasn't going to have you do it now." Andy scowled. "But that is a good idea." A few seconds later, he scoffed. "The problem is THAT he attacked you. Nathaniel, you are pack just as much as the rest of us. Don't downsize the problem."
"No," Thea continued hotly. But she couldn't hide her wounds. Her breathing was more shallow, and the burn was still making it feel as if Selena's fire was licking her. With her good hand she had a hold of her upper arm – as if that could ease her pain. She didn't cry though; Thea never did. "Life isn't fair, but I'm not going to sit back and watch him pull the victim card he will undoubtedly pull. The b*stard makes me feel things I shouldn't; took my will away from me; threatened my family; and indirectly got me kicked out of the Guild. There's going to be assassins coming after you guys now. I am blaming him."
There was a tightening in her chest that had no reason to do with her bruising. A tightening of guilt, sorrow. Even unconscious, she thought vaguely underneath the desire to apologize and beg forgiveness, Jackson could still make her have such false emotions. God knew how she hated him. But at the same time, she didn't want to.
Thea walked up the steps, keeping her pained gaze off Jackson (who felt like a sack of potatoes, Andy thought) as she moved to the front door. Because she knew she needed medical attention. Not that Nate told her to do so.
***
Jewel felt a guilt unlike any she'd felt before. She should be down there, dang it. But she also needed to be up here, with her children. Tears sprung to her eyes at the thought of Jackson actually killing Nate; she pressed her hand to her mouth to physically force back a sob. 'Please don't let Jackson kill Nate,' she prayed over and over again. Picking up a fussy Jasper, she went to sit down on the rocking chair by the faux white tree trunk in the corner. She barely moved other than to expose her breast to let Jasper eat, her mind down there with her husband.
Mate's voice came into her mind easily, jarring it back to the nursery before she let out a quiet sob of relief. In fact, it was so immense that she wasn't immediately concerned with the fact that Thea was here and not at the Guild.
"Ma!"
She winced, then wiped a shaky hand against her cheek. 'He's not coming in. Unless he's bound and gagged he's not to come in.' Unlike Nathaniel, she couldn't drudge up enough sympathy to fill a thimble. There was just about enough trust with Jackson as there was with the ability to throw him. Never before had Jewel felt this way about anyone (except for that one demon – War).
She stood up with a small tremor, thanking God that her love was still alive, before putting the now-sleeping Jasper into his crib. There was an ache in her chest area; even so, she walked slowly down the steps with Harley just behind her ("Daddy's okay," she had shared the good news before walking out with Harley. "Now we have to take care of sissy.") to meet Thea.
The first thing she noticed was the large second-degree burn on her left arm that went from the back of her hand to her elbow. "Harley, be my helper?" she asked, but waited for no answer – she knew her answer already – as she took Thea's good arm to lead her back down the stairs.
***
Andy set the unconscious man down on the couch, then straightened his back with a satisfying 'crack'. A sigh passed his lips, irritated with tonight than he ever had been before. "Orso will be here soon. He's bringing some medical supplies from the pack house." He raked his hand through his hair before crossing his arms. "Meanwhile, Is like to know why, if he's your son, he beat you senseless. I don't even hate my father that much." He shook his head, before taking a whiff of the air.
"He doesn't even smell like a full shifter to me."

Nathaniel felt a headache coming in, his skull was throbbing and he was still so dizzy. It wasn't helping that Andy and Thea were barking at him. He knew that they were right. Jackson was a bad person. He attacked a pack member (despite said pack member not putting any charges on him), he threaten a ally of the Pack and he prose as a unseen threat to all those around him since he could play with his magic.
Nathaniel knew this. He had just gone through hell in his own skin and yet, the fatherly instinct that he had for the defenseless boy wouldn't allow him to hate the boy and made him want to stop anyone from causing him harm.
He shrugged. "Lena's assasians don't worry me. Especially not in Nightstar who has better rogue precautions than New Dawn. No offense. There's only been what? Two incidents where rogues have gone through Nightstar? One happened only because that boy over there can fly. The other was purely by mistake?" Nathaniel shrugged again. Plus, it wasn't like Lena had another one of his children that would make him hesitate to do what had to be done. Nope. Anyone she sent, Nathaniel would handle with ease. He'd kill them and come back home with a merry smile on his lips. He wouldn't allow them to get to him as he allowed his son to do.
"I'm more worried about New Dawn's precautions when Jewel has to go to work and the drive back home. That would be the best time for a assassin to strike. I'll start picking her up again. Thanks kiddo for the input." He breathed in Thea's scent when she moved closer and froze a little, smelling Lena. Eyes went dark yellow as he stared at her, his understanding quiet.
"Jewel. Now." His voice was angry but not directed at her. It was Lena. Lena had hurt Thea. Lena had hurt her friend. He never hated Lena although she hated him. In his mind, he had done what her mother and son had begged him to do. They forced him to go to her when they knew that he couldn't have done anything else but what he did. He had gotten her out of her coma. No one else could have done it but him, so he took the bad guy card that they given him. Because it meant that at least she was alive. He had never hated her, sure he hated her mother but not Lena, however seeing Thea burned because of Lena?
Made anger stir in him like no other. Made him wonder what the hell had changed in her that she could have hurt her best friend.
Jewel's voice came to him like a song inside his mind, even if that song was telling him to bondage his son up. Nathaniel laughed a bit under his breath and Jewel could feel the humor and love spreading throughout the bond that they shared. Aye aye Captain. He told her as he watched as Thea left inside the house.
Harley grinned up at her mother, happy now with the news that Daddy was going to be okay. "Sissy's hurt?" Harley frowned, not liking to hear that anyone of her family was hurt. Instead she nodded almost vigorously at being her mothers helper. Harley liked helping her mother, liked the trips to the Infirmary and was intrigued by the idea that she could save people. All in all, she wanted to be just like her mother.
Nathaniel knew he would have to move from the tree. It was really only a few feet away from the porch. About five long strides and he would be by the foot of the stairs to the porch. But his body was limp against the tree and he had a feeling that if he moved, his body would collapse underneath him. It was all he could do to stand upright against the tree. The headache was easing a bit since he only had to deal with one person lecturing him instead of two, and he took comfort in that. Everything hurt more when he had headaches.
"Hm?" He focused on Andy and tilted his head just slightly to the right. "That's good. Orso is more of a mother hen than my Jewel is, isn't he." His lips twitch at the hint of a smile and he nodded at Andy's words.
"I forsaken him. I was the core of his hatred and after so long of hating someone, you feel like the only thing you can do to ease the emotions is to end that person's existence. Which is what he's tried to do and yes. He's not a shifter completely. Matter of fact, he's not even fully a hybrid. His mother was half witch half succubus. Her mother had fallen for a incubus who sired a child with her in hopes of obtaining a powerful son who had both the powerful magic that runs in the Nox's bloodline and all the abilities of a Incubus. Instead, he got Jackson's mother who would never kill a innocent just for fun like Gramps wanted her to. And well, I enjoyed playing with fire back then and without my knowing up until recently, Bella had Jackson. Judging by what I've gathered from Thea and my own experience with him, Jackson is finally the incubus that that old man would love. It's no wonder why he's so strong for a man in a witches coven."
He breathed out slowly and then breathed in as slow, it hurt to talk too much especially with someone that wasn't Jewel. But Andy was pack and Nathaniel knew him longer than what should be allowed. Andy knew how he was back then before they all died. How he was emotionless and how he got by with women, drugs, and more drugs. How he cared for nothing, only the fun of things. And that part of him had fathered the man lying on the couch on his front porch.
"There's some rope in the shed next to the house by your left, grab it and tie him up for me? I would do it myself but..." he let his words trail off, not wanting to announce again how weak he really was at the moment. "There's some table clothes as well and towels stacked, you can rip a strip for his gag. Jewel wants him wound up you see. I don't blame her. He can't talk which makes sure that people won't be affected by his words, and trust me, incubi and succubi's words are very threatening alone. His body would be bound together, which won't allow him to move as much. Though I'm sure if he wanted to, he could still send out spells. But, I think he's out of juice so he and we should be fine."
Nathaniel felt like he should be next to Jewel. No. he craved to be next to her. Craved to smell her aroma of lavender and the sweet scent of her body. Craved to feel the warmth of her skin. He felt...cold he realized. Cold without her. Cold with the reminder of his past and who he was back then. Who he could still be. No. Nathaniel shook his head. He wasn't that man anymore. He laughed from deep in his belly and he smiled honestly these days. He felt the love that burned through him. The love he received and the love he gave to others.
He had stopped doing drugs as well. Didn't need them any longer. Sure occasionally he drank with his lover but the times where he just needed a hit of...something-anything, he felt that no longer.
He had changed. Nathaniel steeled himself with that thought and could breathe out easy once more. He could wait a little until he was by Jewel's side once more. She had Thea to tend to. He could wait.

Thea was sat down firmly, yet slowly, in the kitchen chair her mother set out for her. She definitely felt the anger that had come from Nate, yet she misplaced it to be because she yelled about Jackson. To which she could say "Screw you!" because he needed to stop treating the man like the Prodigal Son.
"What happened?" Jewel asked softly in her motherly tone. Without touching it, she probed Thea's burn. The worried look on her face showed that the wound wasn't healing. At all. Usually, even if Thea kept switching between forms, the healing process will start to kick in.
"Jackson came to the Guild," Thea started, lifting her shift with her good hand to reveal the mottled bruising just under her breasts. No doubt her ribs were bruised as well. But this was starting to heal. Slowly. Thea could feel it. "He wanted me to escort him here. He said that if he didn't then he'd kill you and the kids." Then after a few pained breaths, in which Jewel had curled her hands into fists, she continued, "Not his exact words, but it was implied.
"Then Selena and Kenneth wanted to butt in. Stalled me enough to have Jackson disappear. But I didn't know that he left until after I was kicked out of the Guild."
"Why?" Out of the corner of her eye, she saw her mother motion for Harley to come closer, then whisper what she needed. Secretly, Thea wished she'd just hurry up.
"She wanted to bring the kids to the Guild. I don't trust anyone but a few people there with my life. I didn't want the kids anywhere with anyone there. Even Selena and Kenneth. I accused her of wanting to kill you guys, and have one of the assassins to get rid of the babes."
"How did you get the burn?" Jewel looked down at her daughter's torso finally, taking notice of the purple patches. "And those?!"
"When Selena kept me from going outside, I managed to get on top of her to chole her. Not to death," she quickly assured, casting a glance at Harley. "But Kenneth grabbed me. I struggled. He was too strong." She lifted her good shoulder. "And apparently, Selena is a witch. I was buned because she had a fire rise from a fireplace, then circle Kenneth and me. I am happy to say that he was burned too. B*stard thinks I cheated on him." She let her shirt fall, then rested her chin on the palm of her hand.
"I don't want you going back there," Jewel said after a pause.
"Trust me, I don't want to."
***
"Hm," Andy responded finally, looking down his nose at the passed-out Jackson. For quite a long time, this boy's been holding a large grudge. He could have easily made a life for himself, just as easily as he and his brother did, regardless of his incubus of a grandfather. But he decided that it would be better to let his feelings of hatred fester.
Immediately, Andy nodded. "Good call," he said as he turned to walk down the steps and to the shed. "Ha ha, just as much, I believe." Slowly he was relaxing, knowing that Mr. Nox can't hurt anyone now. A few minutes after Andy bound hJackson's hands to the iron arm of the sofa and gagged him, he stood back to admire his work. "I'll notify Azalea as well as Maria and Ade about what happened tonight. Both of Jackson and Thea's problem."
Orso came up as he spoke, parking his car just inside the gravel driveway. In his arms are various medicinal items. It looked as if he raided the pack house, because he had a lot. "All right, who's hurt?"
