Azalea
"You all may be wondering what I've gathered you here for," Alder said, glancing over the three people that stood in front of him. "Well, two of you, but that's besides the point." He paused, looking at what could only be described as his second in command.
"It would seem that I've misplaced something that could bear some importance in future events if the cards don't fall exactly how I would prefer them to. The only problem is that I didn't lose it here, where I could easily re-obtain it. The thing decided that it would be good idea to go and die on me. What is this thing?" He turned away, looking at the blank television. "Azalea Everett-Cobert. Alpha of the New Dawn pack off somewhere in the middle of the wilderness, but you all know that."
One watched as Alder paced around the room. To be honest, the man kind of did demand respect. It was an odd feeling, knowing that he was a demon as old as recorded history, but it wasn't like he was a monstrosity. He was selfish and conceited, he had secrets and cheated, but he was honest. Never once had Alder lied to One since he first met the demon. And coming from an ex-slayer? A compliment like that meant something. "And where does that leave us? She's dead. Has been for two years."
"That's where you're wrong, Tyler," Alder said. "She might be dead, but she's not gone. Think of this as a two year hiatus. Or a punishment, if you would prefer. I could have sent you all in after her right after she died. But...it's like wine. She'll be that much sweeter. Toward my cause, at least. She will have first hand experience in how the Daemon and Fae Councils operate and how misguided their deeds actually are. She will understand that to be like them is only to further their cause, and sadly? That's not the route that the world should take."
"That's what you would think. The world is in balance right now, to the best of my knowledge. Has been since as long as I can remember."
"Then why would you agree to a job like this? I've not forced you to be here."
"But you know that I'm your best bet without raising too much suspicion, which is why you called me and Kiri. No one would question two humans entering purgatory, but they would question you. They would also question Nikki, which is why I'm curious you're allowing her to come if you want to be stealthy." One knew that there was something missing in this "plan" that Alder had. He hadn't tried to hide the fact that they were going to be crossing realms, he hadn't hid that they were going after Azalea, and he didn't hide the fact that he was sending in his second in command. "Speaking of the team, you said there would be a fourth. Who is it?"
Alder smirked. That was never good. "The only detail that I've hid from all of you. Ryan, can you come here?"
There was a slight pause before two sets of footsteps could be heard on the landing above them. A door opened, then slammed shut. The footsteps came down the stairs, and rounded a corner that made the necromancer and what One assumed to be the fourth person became visible. She looked...familiar. One turned back to Alder. "Is that Lily?"
"Who else would it be?" She asked, looking down at her hands. The glamour seemed to be working, and almost too well. Her normally pale skin was replaced with a fair complexion, her strawberry blonde hair was now more auburn in color, and her elven shape had been softened into a more human form. She could feel the curve in her ear because of the way her hair fell around it, and it was kind of annoying. She couldn't see them, but from the reflection that Ryan had shown her, her eye color was different too. It was a much more human color. A lighter green. Out of everything, that was what she hated the most. Whenever she saw her reflection, she saw her father in her eyes and it was a comforting thought. They weren't even allowing her to bring her own weapons. That was announced by the plain longsword that was strapped to her hip.
But what One was seeing was completely different. Physically, she looked more human, yes, but it was more than that. It was more than the change in the hair, the softer features, and even the eyes. She didn't seem to...glow...like she used to. Something about her seemed dimmer. "What's wrong with her?" The question was shot directly at Ryan.
"Upon an agreement with Alder, Lily forsaken her god soul. A con-"
"So you're telling me that she just willingly gave up her godship." One glared at both of them. Ryan and Lily alike.
"Trust me," Lily said, "I didn't give anything up. I'm here to get my mate back."
