"Harley, I must tell you something."
Ludin knew right then that she had to know about their past. Truthfully, he was going to tell her. But he had intended to tell her later. When it was the right time. Maybe after they had married. Definitely before Jewel disowned him. But he didn't expect for her to relive a part of her past life. No, she shouldn't have had access to that. At the very least, not until she was a lot older.
Who had opened the door to her memories? Was it his grandfather? Loki didn't have that kind of power, but he was certain that he could have recreated that awful scene that Colette relived almost night after night and seemingly into her next life.
His lips chased after hers when they parted, the taste of her giving him strength to plow through what he had to say. His hands moved from her back to her hands, delicate things he thought as he pulled them away from his face to place her fingers on his back. Or, more importantly, the scar that started from the top of his shoulder to his hip diagonally. "You are right. It was real. You didn't suffer through a nightmare. But a memory."
He paused to let her process it for a few moments, thinking surely she would be confused. But he couldn't look at her face. Just at a spot on a wall as he looked on. As if the wall would give him the words he needed to say without Harley walking out, thinking she had given him her innocense to a mad man. "You and I have made love before this. Your soul has intertwined with mine countless other times. Harley, you have been reincarnated by the deities that the mother in your previous life had once worshipped. Your name was Colette d'Guillory."
Did Jewel talk to Harley about her birth pack, and those who were in it? Would the name suddenly give Harley the memories they once shared together? He wasn't sure, but he prayed to anyone who was listening that she wouldn't get up from his lap, knowing that he was going to fight to keep her there. And truthfully, he didn't want to force her to stay.

Harley blinked the tears away from her eyes as Ludin's suddenly now serious voice started to penetrate her mind. She could practically feel how tensed he was just by being next to him. But she now could see that he was as healthy as he was when they went to bed last night. Maybe a bit worried and tensed, but healthy.
Not lying cold at her feet with her being absolutely helpless about it.
"Tell me," her voice was soft, the panic high pitch she had before was almost gone by now. She could deal with anything as long as it didn't include Ludin hurt or Ludin wanting to cut ties with her.
The kiss...she had just done it out of relief but feeling him needing to kiss her more...Harley sighed into him. She knew now that her worst two fears weren't going to come true. Not today, at least. Ludin was as healthy as a horse and he kissed her like he couldn't get enough of her-there was no way he would break things off now.
She watched as he moved her hands, content with the warmth that spread through his fingertips into hers. At first, she didn't think much about him moving her hands to his back until his words struck home. Suddenly she felt what he had been trying to show her. Her fingers went over the scar, a intense need to see it filled her but something told her to stay exactly where she was at the same time. Harley fingers started to trembled as they traced down the scar, feeling its length even as the memory of his bloodied body filled her mind.
"But...how? You're fine now?" Harley spread her fingers on his back even as she used one hand to cup his cheek, needing him to look at her. She could feel the slight disconnection they had when he wouldn't meet her eyes and she didn't like it. She gently caressed his cheek with her thumb even as he told her what he knew.
"Look at me Ludin," Harley scooted closer to him on his lap, until it was almost as if they were of one body instead of two. She left the scar for now-she was sure to go back to it-and cupped his other cheek. "My Always," it felt right to call him that and had it naturally slipped out as well.
When he finally looked her in the eyes, Harley felt the sweetest smile cover her lips. She bent forward and pressed that smile to his forehead, her fingers gently cupping his cheeks. She eased away enough to lay her forehead on his and closed her eyes.
"You know, when we first met I was in a child center in the store. I should have been completely satisfied, surrounded by kids my age and funny adults even if my parents weren't around. Yet I wasn't. I needed to get out. It wasn't for Dad or Mom, otherwise I would have been crying for them to the adults at that center. I was looking for something. My little legs didn't stop moving until I finally found it."
Harley eased her forehead off of his and moved one hand around to his back. "It was this backside that made me stop in my tracks. It was you being in that mall that made me have to escape from there and look." She ran her fingers across the scar, already knowing exactly where it should start and stop. Why? Before she didn't know. But now? It all made sense.
"You know, wolves have tingles whenever mates touch. I'm no wolf sadly but I am a eagle and we birds imprint on our soulmates. Did you also know that eagles only mate with one person for life? I think I imprinted on you that day. From the moment I saw this back, it was already a done deal."
"I've always believed you to be my soulmate. Whether or not it was right or wrong-didnt matter. I have always felt that you belonged to me. For life. For longer than death. Maybe even for my soul to reincarnate. For always."
"I'm happy you found me, this time as well." Harley felt tears suddenly as confusing emotions filled through her. She was devastated that it wasn't a dream-that there was a time where Ludin had been so close to dying and she couldn't have done anything. And yet, she was glad it was true as well. Glad that he had loved only her in his life. Glad that those beautiful moments of them sitting on logs by the fire were true as well.
All those snippets of memories of her past life that they shared...both good bad bad were precious to her. Because some dreams always felt too real for her. Now? Now she knew why. She wasn't going to call him crazy and get off of his lap. No. This was her everything and hey, she shifted into a giant ass eagle. Reincarnation wasn't that much of a stretch. The world worked in ways that no one could understand.
Suddenly she remembered the blurry image of her real birth mother. "It's a good thing Dad had forgotten his keys that time. Otherwise, I would have never been able to have found you in that mall." She suddenly hugged him, wrapped her arms around his neck and curling her legs to wrap around his waist as well.
"But it's fine now, you're here. I'm here. Neither of us are going anywhere." Harley closed her eyes and smiled. "My name was pretty back then too. Tell me more?"

He felt his heart constrict, stuttering before it continued its strong beating. Only she could do that to him. Feel so weak that his immortal heart acted as if it could go out at any given time. Ludin didn't tell her how he survived, because he didn't know exactly what had happened. And when she told him to look at her, he didn't right away do it. Not until she called him "My Always".
The kiss she gave his forehead was warm. So warm and safe he felt, not like a nightmare being, but someone that deserved her love. He closed his eyes, letting her words of acceptance and understanding wrap around him. Oh, thank the gods above, he thought. To hear that eagles mated for life was music to his ears. He knew that it was selfish of him, but if ever he had to depart from this world, he would leave knowing that Harley wouldn't take another man. "I am sure it was you who found me this time, my heart," he murmured, letting one hand travel up to her wild hair, enjoying the silky strands slide between his fingers. The pause in their conversation before she spoke again.
His hand paused its motion through her hair, eyes opening only to squint a bit at her words. "Your mother has caused you harm?" he demanded, but let her latch onto him. With her around him like this, he couldn't be angry. But for a few moments, he did entertain the idea of tracking Harley's mother to scare her.
Not kill her. Just scare, he told himself.
Slowly, he stood up, every slight movement her bare skin made against his own sending little ripples of fire to the pit of his belly. The desire to have her again, this time leaving his mark on her, was so intense for a few brief seconds he couldn't move. Couldn't speak. Only his sheer willpower forced him forward, toward his bathroom. With one hand still in her hair, he trusted her enough to still hold tightly to him as the other hand - in order - close the door, turn the knobs on the bathtub, and feel the water to get it pleasantly warm.
After all, he had taken her innocense. If she didn't feel sore now, she would soon feel it. And Ludin didn't need to have her limping into her home for when she needed to get back. "There is a lot to go over," he finally managed to say, clearing his throat a few times before he could. "Where would you like for me to start?"

"I did, didn't I?" Harley brushed her fingertips against the back of his head, feeling his soft hair move in her hands as if it were a breeze instead of a caress. She smiled at that, at his words, at the feeling of being wholeheartedly at ease and herself despite everything that had happened in the last twenty four hours. "Hmm," she hummed, rolling her hips experimental over his lap and finding a blush settling over her cheeks because in a way this wasn't the time and yet, in a twisted way she absolutely loved it.
How exploring him and things with him felt oh so new and unlike anything else but also, there was such a familiarity that went along with every little thing they did together.
"I hope to find you over and over in all my lives; if I don't, well I know you will." Harley tightened her thighs around his waist, keeping him warm and secured. It was a bit much she would later think but she couldn't explain it. She had to be skin to skin with him. Had to hold him between her legs and feel his arms holding her tightly to his body. Maybe it had to do with the Nordic bedroom or the fact that before the terrible memory flashback that they did just make love, or maybe it had to do with the same ole reason-she just couldn't bring herself to keep away.
She hummed in delight at the feel of his hands through her hair. She never really cared all that much if people played with her hair. It was never a thing but with Ludin's fingers in her hair-damn. It was a thing. She felt both loved and protected just from his gentle caress. A giggle escaped her lips at the sudden stop and she just hugged him tighter once his words were heard.
"Another time." She promised, not wanting to relive anymore memories. Not even from this life of hers. Plus, if Ludin used to hate the kids who pushed her down at playgrounds, she can only imagine what he would do if he found out her birth mother tried suffocating her. Another time, indeed. Even if she loved seeing how protective and territorial he was of her.
She squeaked just a bit at the sudden transition and once again, found herself both in awe and turned on at how effortlessly Ludin managed to carry her around. Her legs twisted behind his waist, her bare thighs clenching his front hips and her fingers locking at his nape. "Mm," she smiled with her eyes as she laughed at being carried even if the slight jostling was starting to make her feel aware of a uncomfortableness around her pelvic area. Sort of like cramps but a bit more intense and...pounding as if she were longing for something.
Or someone.
Harley peeked over his shoulder at the new room, letting her eyes take in every little thing. After all, she had never come in here and only the gods knew how much she had thought and thought about anything that had to do with Ludin. "I can't believe I'm in your room." She breathed as she wrapped herself around him, not wanting to be put down or fall off.
Harley playfully nipped at his cheek while he spoke, enjoying the muscles moving under her mouth as she bit him. She pressed kisses after the love bites into his cheek and then shrugged. "From the beginning I suppose. What was our very first meeting like? What was the moment that bounded our souls together for all eternity?"
She slowly eased one leg away from his body, curling the other around his thigh as she stretched out the other. With just her big toe, she touched the surface of the filling tub. "Hmm, between the water and you, I'll say I'll be perfectly warm and comfy for a bedtime story."

Everything she did - every little movement and sound she created - threatened to do away with his resolve. She envoked the primal side of him, whether she meant to or not. The blush that colored her soft skin told him that she didn't, but with how her hips rolled, causing him to conjure fantasies, she sent out a different vibe. No matter his desire, he couldn't take her again. Couldn't sate his want to explore her body with his mouth and hands, knowing that he wouldn't stop there. He would want her to do the exact same thing to him, making sure that she would want him and only him.
Because she wasn't going to have anyone take care of her other than him.
There was a groan that escaped him involuntarily at her nip, which caused a shockwave of heat to run down to his belly again, fingers digging into her scalp involuntarily - but not really that harsh - until the spike in his craving for her subsided just a tad. Any more surprises like that, he wasn't going to let her leave. He was going to tell her that, too. But then she spoke.
"I am not getting in with you," he warned, but knew that if she pleaded, he would acquiesce despite his better judgement. There was another reason for her to be in this tub besides to relax her. He needed the scent of sex off her - and him, really - so that Jewel and Harley's father wouldn't catch on to the real reason why he didn't take her straight home. But I will tell you anything you wish to know. Or I might save it for another time." He forced himself to detach her from his body, putting both of her feet in the tub gently.
"I saw you dancing on a rocky shore, dancing to some unknown music with bare feet and a look of pure relief on your face. I had made camp on that same rocky shore, thinking that no one came down here or that there was a village so close. Otherwise I would have never seen such beauty. Your hair was the only splash of color against the dark landscape. But you didn't see me. Not then.
"You spoke so beautifully that I had to know what language you spoke. I had to speak it in order for you to fall in love with me, just as I had fallen for you. I admit, I was only merely attracted and intrigued when you first came to dance. But all the times since then, you had me entranced. Enthralled. I was the one to come up to you, even though you admitted you felt me watching you since the first day later on in our courtship. I asked who you came to dance with, and you answered me, 'the Fair Folk'."
When the water was just barely under the top of the tub, he turned the faucet off, letting go of Harley's hair to travel down the curve of her back and rest on her bare bottom. He allowed himself a squeeze before he dropped his hand completely. "I did not know who the Fair Folk were. Yet I secretly thanked them, because they brought you to me. The moment that your eyes met mine, with no glamour to hide anything, I knew that I would be a fool to let you go back to the life of boring monotony you had in that village. I had to steal you away."
He sent her an unabashed grin then, blue eyes igniting with a passionate fire. "You did not fight me much on it."

"You're not?" Harley raised a eyebrow even as the corner of her kissed lips twisted downwards into a pout. She wanted to lay her head against his chest as water surrounded both of them. After all, the tub was so large that it was enough to fit both of them with enough space for other activities. Not that she was thinking of said activities...not really...wasnt like she was remembering how sweet and....and... A shiver of enjoyment sizzled around her whole body.
Mmm, not like she was thinking of that at all. Nope, not really. Harley smiled to herself knowing that she was full of shit. Especially after the shiver of heat that went straight to her core when he had tightened his grip on her hair. God she loved that. She loved everything he did with her. She was thinking of how much she actually enjoyed sex. How it brought a new her out. How she liked love with Ludin. Already she knew, that she would never open her heart or allow anyone to have her body if it wasnt Ludin. She would die before she allowed someone other than him to take her in that way.
Harley kissed his shoulder, not wanting him to separate himself from her. It felt so right to be so close to Ludin in the way she had been. But she wasnt stupid. She knew that she needed to rub her skin hard until there was no smell of Ludin (to this extent) on her skin. Her parents would not like it-to say the least. Not that she ever cared what they thought-when it came to Ludin. She cared immensely to what they thought. She was both a mommy's girl and a daddy's girl.
But...she had always loved Ludin. Since the moment she caught whiff of his aura all that time ago. Even her parents who she loved with all her heart wouldnt stand in her way to be with him.
"Fine." She pursed her lips in defeat, pressing a kiss just above his chest. She didnt like the idea of his scent leaving her body. She loved smelling him on her. Loved feeling the ache in her hips and thighs that was proof of their lovemaking. Loved feeling the fire between her legs and smelling Ludin.
"Only for you, though. I dont want your scent off my skin to be honest." She kicked at the warmish water and watched it splash against the tub's side. Almost as if she were throwing just a tiny tantrum. But she sighed under her breath and knew eventually, she would need to get his scent off of her.
So she sat down in the big tub, not really leaning on anything since there was still so much space, and grabbed his soap that was on the side. She lathered her hands in it as he spoke, lazily rubbing the soap along her ankles and then the heel of her foot. His words...made a smile cross her lips as if she were remembering a happy memory. Maybe she was supposed to feel something akin to jealousy in her past life...but no. Maybe she was a bit envious that she couldnt remember everything as clearly as he did-but she did remember snippets-especially to what happen not even a hour ago-and she knew that the woman he was talking about was her.
She felt...happy as she listened to him. As if he were complimenting her. She felt happy. She leaned her head against his hand, lazily lathering up one leg which was propped up over the rim of the water. She rubbed the soap into her calf, feeling unused muscles complain about the sudden change in events. A little grin escaped her at his words-as if satisfied that he was comepletely enthralled by her.
"Damn right. You better be crazy for me always." Harley warned as she washed her knee, sliding back her hand to and fro. At the feel of his hand traveling, Harley breathed out happily. Even biting her lip at the pressure of his hand. It was as if he couldnt resist touching her and that thought made happiness blossom throughout her belly. It made her earlier mood lighten. It wasnt like he wanted his scent off of her. He just wanted to protect her even from her own parents.
She eased her soapy leg into the water-letting it wash away his scent. She frowned at the water, twirling her fingers into the soap as if she could grab his scent and pull it back to her. She leaned her head agaisnt the tub since his hand wasnt there anymore and smirked. "I bet I didnt." And she could see it. See herself giving him weak excuses to stay with her village-excuses that she knew he would know she didnt really care about. Excuses she wouldnt even care if she broke. Not if it meant being with him.
She reached out for his neck and then twisted in the water so that she was kneeling in front of him. She curled her fingers along his neck, digging her nails just a little into his scalp and pulling his head down. Down until they were at eyelevel.
"You're mine." She proclaimed, her other hand moving to caress his broad chin. "I'm yours." She brushed her thumb against his lips. "Even if your scent is washed away from my skin. Even if theres no hint of you on me. You will forever and always be mine. No one will ever stop me from loving you Ludin." She whispered his name and slowly released him as she straightened up in the tub.
With a satisfied expression, she fished for the soap bar that had been lost in the tub and once she found it, she began to scrub her body with it. Erasing her lover's touch of her. After a while, she grabbed his shampoo and glanced back at him, her lips curled upwards.
"Wash my hair for me?"

His heart twisted, seeing her pout like that, but was grateful that she didn't beg him. Her kiss sent a warmth tingling against his skin, down into his very core. Gah, how he was going to hate turning her over. "I have no wish for it, either," he replied honestly.
Ludin let a wry smile twist his lips, liking the small fit she had. It was another sign that she didn't want to leave him, just as he didn't want to leave her. He was reluctant to remove his hands from her skin, feeling cold all of a sudden. He was well and truly bare, his only warmth coming from Harley's body pressed against his. Yet he still stood, looking down at Harley with a tenderness that he usually didn't show to anyone else. Even when she went for his soap. He knew he should be irritated (after all, she needed to get his smell off of her, not bathing in it), but all he could think of was that she was well and truly breathtaking. Arousal hit him like a truck, slowly taking him to his knees as he spoke of their first encounter up to what Simon d'Guillory swore was an abduction.
Suddenly, he laughed. All too well, he was familiar with her rather possessive side. He didn't mind. Not when he had one too. One that could be quite deadly. "Only you can make me feel that way." Once again, his hand found her hair, fingers twining the hair around themselves as he kissed her forehead, imagining kissing every other part of her body. And when he pulled away, his tongue darted out to lick the soft pad of her thumb. "And nothing will ever hinder me from loving you, Harley. I give you my word."
His eyes never left her, not even as she searched for the bar in the now-murkey water. He could sit there all day, never growing weary of watching her bathe. Wishing that he could join her. When she offered his shampoo bottle, he plucked it out of her hand , set it down, then leaned back to get to the cabinet under the sink. There, he reached for Gem's shampoo bottle. "Not with mine," he said gently, opening the cap. The scent of crisp apples tickled his nose. Not his favorite; it wasn't Harley's. But it would have to do.
As he washed her hair, he told her of another story. Of how they started their own pack after years of roaming the country. Well, how she started it. He really just enforced it. And it was a great pack. Just as well known in the south as the Nightstar was in the north. Oh, it was such a wonderful place. Every pack member was family. There was not a single thing they did by themselves.
"With Lynn wanting to stay with Jareth, Gem and Aiden have the desire to stay as well. So, I will create a new pack. Make it as strong and as closely knit as ours used to be."
