Jewel Lena, who was now 90% through her pregnancy and getting bigger by the second, hear the wails before she saw the lights or the van. Her heart sank. That wail was not good and it only meant one thing, someone was hurt and they were rushing back. Lena got up, being careful of her bump and her centre of gravity, and rushed, as quick as she could, down the stairs as the van skidded to a halt outside the door and it was burst open. Lena watched as the burliest of the A team carried in Westly. Lena's heart dropped out of her stomach and the world froze. Her uncle was hurt, badly. From what Lena could see Westly was bleeding from many areas including a shot wound, a few cuts and he had been beaten really bad. His eyes were swollen shut, his breathing was raspy and ragged and drops of his blood were splattering against the marble floor. "M-medical bay. M-Maria." I mumbled and they rushed Westly into medical and to Maria. I stood there, numb to my core and breathed in deep for a moment. I woke myself up a little and rushed back up the stairs. I walked right into Thea's office without even knocking and stopped, breathing heavily due to the rushing and the baby pressing against my lungs. "Westly...he's in a bad way...bleeding everywhere...with Maria in Medical." Lena rasped and took in deep breaths as her lungs felt like they were on fire. "He was barely breathing...he looks like he's dying." Tears started rushing down Lena's face and she hated these hormones as she wiped them away.

It was no surprise that Thea can hold a grudge.
There was evidence in the fact that the only person she talked to from her mother’s side of the family was Selena. She completely avoided her Aunt Lupita for the sake of Selena, and Selena and Kenneth kept Thea away from Westly so that there wasn’t an act of patricide staining the Guild’s reputation.
Thea’s hatred for her father did, indeed, run deeper into her bones than anything else. It was a carnal desire to see Westly’s blood stain her wolf’s inherited white fur a brilliant red. A guilty pleasure that she never once hid from the Guild. It was more than likely the reason why A Team was gone for long periods of time, only coming back when Thea wasn’t at the Guild.
Quite frankly, she didn’t care. Westly had been given the name “coward” because of it. Not once since Westly called her mother’s cabin had they spoken. Not once had he showed any amount of remorse for leaving her and her mother. Not once had she seen his face at all.
Since the sleep spell, most of the members were surprised at how … mellow Thea seemed to be. Sure, there was banter between her and Drogo still, but there was no threat of bloodshed or shouts. Some, like Elaine, wonder if she was ill.
One thing for sure was that not once had she forgotten how she felt about Westly, and she wouldn’t hesitate to end his life.
**
Being in her office was … weird.
The last time she was in here, she had put a lot of photos of her family in here. Mainly of Jewel and Iggy and Nate just to piss people off. There wasn’t much else that was in here save for a ton of dust. Honestly, she had even forgotten why she came in here in the first place. Thea wasn’t in there long when Lena came in, huffin’ and puffin’. “What?”
The she-wolf heard what her cousin said. But it didn’t completely register until after she led Selena to sit down in a chair that creaked ominously. “Dying? That’s bullshit.”
Hearing that her father was that wounded … it stirred something within her. At first, it was disbelief that washed through her. Then, it was anger. Anger that wasn’t there because someone tried to kill her beloved father. Anger because someone deigned to steal the life that she wanted to take. “What happened?”

Lena knew that Thea hated her father and she knew that Thea had...well issues when it came to him, but now that Westly was currently bleeding out in her medical bay, the only person she knew that she could tell was Thea.
The look on Thea's face made Lena reconsider everything she ever thought about when it came to how Thea felt about her father. Lena was breathing in deep and that was difficult with this huge baby pushing against her lungs.
"It's not...blood everywhere...everywhere..." Lena whispered, fear etched in every pore of her face. "He was on a case...he took it himself..." Lena mumbled. She didn't even know what case Westly was on because this was one of his independent cases that he took every so often, more often in recent months. "Maria is with him." Lena said and pointed to where she had just come from. She was shaking and she felt so ill. She was used to feeling ill, she had been sick for months, but this was more...this was sick with fear. "He's in surgery...I'm going to his office to find out what he was up to...want to come with?" Lena asked shakily.
****
Westly was stripped out of his ripped and bloody clothes before being placed on the operating table. People were using gauze to clog up the wounds before he bled out, hooking him up to monitors to show his thump...thump...thumping heart that was working as hard as it could to keep him alive, but with every thump of his heart more blood was spurting out of his many wounds and they were connecting IVs into him full of blood and morphine and other antibiotics to fight any infections.
Maria was scrubbed, gowned, gloved and ready to go. She went over to Westly and sighed as those around her, the other doctors and nurses, worked on Westly to get him stable enough for her to operate on him.
"Alright everyone, let's not kill the Chief's Uncle." Maria said as she reached over for the 10 blade and started to cut into the biggest wound, the gaping one on Westly's chest. He had been shot and stabbed in the same wound. Maria had to find the major bleed which was caused by the knife wound, which had just missed his liver, but had caught a section of his bowels. Maria managed to sow that up and removed the bullet, which gave a satisfying clunk as it was placed in a metal bowl with water in it.
"I need someone to fix those burns and...and the chunks of flesh that is missing from his body." Maria said and she found it difficult to look at his arms and parts of his chest. Parts of his body had been sliced off with something very hot and huge chunks of his skin were missing. "Get a graft and sow up what you can." Maria ordered as she sowed up the bowel and moved on to his lung, which was just hanging in there. Maria had to crack his chest and when she looked at his lungs, she had to do a quick double take. One of them had been punctured and was bleeding really badly.
"Shit!" Maria groaned as Westly's heart gave in and she screamed for the paddles before shocking his heart 4 times. It was only after the 4th shock that his heart beat again. Maria had to quickly patch up the lung and find the bullet, but instead found an exit wound that she had to deal with.
Westly had a total of 6 stabs in varying places, 4 shots, multiple burns and chunks of flesh and muscle missing. His surgery took hours, he died 4 times on the operating table and came back all those times. He lost pretty much all his blood, which had to be replenished over and over again. He was covered in scars, staples, gauze, grafts and his body was so swollen that you could only just about see that Westly was there under all that. He was hooked up to a ventilator, a heart monitor and he was in an induced coma. He had to be in this coma until such time that the swelling on his brain and the trauma his body had suffered had calmed down. There was still a risk of Westly's heart giving out and more bleeding happening internally, but for now he was borderline stable and Maria was exhausted.
****
Maria went up to Lena's office and didn't find her there, so went to Westly's office. Lena had turned it upside down and was looking through every little bit of his files. She was reading everything he had ever done. She found his notes and found what he had been up to recently. Lena had laid it all out on Westly's office table.
"He's stable." Maria whispered.
"Good, I'm finding out what the hell happened."
"Don't push yourself too hard, you're pregnant." Lena slammed more files down on one of the tables.
"I know, but he is my family...he got hurt...he is part of this family and he got hurt. So I am going to find out what the hell happened." Lena said. "Now get some rest because we do not know if Westly will pull through without more coding." Lena ordered and Maria nodded before going off to sleep.
Lena opened up Westly's safe with a touch of her magic and yes it made her tired, but it was satisfying to see the safe door slam open. Lena pulled out all of Westly's files and started to read them. Lena stopped and froze. In front of her was the truth to everything.
"Thea! You'll want to see this." Lena called as she stared down at the Will, the work he'd been doing, the finances he'd been putting in place and everything he had done in the last few years...and they all had to do with Thea.

Thea didn’t remember what she said to Selena when asked if she wanted to go to Westly’s office with her, but it wasn’t yes. Why she didn’t remember was also the reason why she couldn’t recall going to the medical wing. She didn’t try to run in. Wasn’t making the attempt to see the extent of her father’s wounds. Couldn’t hear what was going on inside because her love of music had made her hearing on the same level as a human’s. She was struck frozen, standing in front of the doors she knew Westly was behind being treated. Was it fear? She couldn’t tell. But there was anger there. Anger that Westly is hurt and at Death’s door … and it wasn’t by her exacting her vengeance. She had wanted to dole out what she thought as poetic justice. Betrayal by family. He had left her for dead when she needed him most, and she had wanted to make him beg for mercy before she killed him. What stopped her from killing him before then? The contract. The same contract that kept the Guild from murdering her own mother and Nate and her family. That, and how often he had been conveniently gone for long periods of time. It took a hot minute for her to pry her eyes away from the doors. But she did, moving her now-leaded feet back towards the higher-ups’ wing, where she went to her room and shut the door. *** Loki had taken a liking to his descendant. Thea May Constantine. A name that didn’t really strike fear into the hearts of men, but Loki knew what she was capable of. He walked her dreams. Pried through her memories. She was the female version of the great Ludin Fenrirson, whose spear was the most fearsome of all weapons. Well, Loki liked to believe anyway. (He was biased when it came to his family.) Today, he intended to visit her. Just to, you know, talk history. Maybe implant a little idea … possibly, perhaps, of releasing his son. But he wasn’t rushing anything. So he soared on the wings of an osprey. Over tree tops and over the rivers and streams. With a metaphorical smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. Oh, it’s been a long time since he’s bonded with family! His good mood vanished when he hit an invisible barrier. Hard. Then lost his orientation and promptly fell a good five feet before he flapped his wings in angry thrusts. What a day ruiner. *** Thea had opened her door after talking briefly to her mother to hear Lena’s call for her. After calming down, she walked quick-footed to her father’s office, passing by Maria, to see Selena sitting with her father’s safe open and the papers in Selena’s hands. “What did you find?” (( Ariella))

Lena held everything Westly had been up to for the last few years it seemed. Westly had been doing a lot behind not only her back, but also Thea it seemed. Lena was holding paperwork for a savings account in Thea's name that was still getting money in it, his will that left everything to Thea; his house, car, money, his guns and more. She was holding paperwork for all the work he had done on her ATV, all the guns and ammo he had bought her and his diary. Lena flipped through it and found that he had written about how much he missed his daughters, especially Thea. He wrote about how he had loved Jewel and he was sorry that he left years ago, but that he had to because he knew that Lu and Jewel's dad would have come for Thea because she was the same age Lu was when she was taken. He wrote about how he missed his girls and tried to make it up by giving Thea the best cases, guns and fixing her ATVs.
There was another file here and this was recently opened because a bunch of files were roughly stuffed inside. This file showed what Westly had been doing behind Lena's back. She had given him a lot of leniancy and a lot more the more her pregnancy progressed. Westly had been taking down a network of pedos it seems. He had finally gone after one of the Crime Lords behind all of this and he had written in his own handwriting what he had done.
Gone after little girls - huge crime lord - taken down part of his network - rapist
He had notes like this everywhere and he had written down his last known co-ordinates as well as intel he had about something that was going down tonight. That was where he had gone and this was obviously who Westly had gone after. This Crime Lord, Edgar Jackson, was his target and now he is on a ventilator. This is why you go with back-up.
"I found out what Westly has been doing behind both our backs." Lena said as she held up the two files. Lena handed over the first file that contained the savings, the ATV work, the guns, the will and every little thing he had done in the background for Thea. "He's been doing a lot for you." Lena then picked up the diary, which had a worn leather cover and passed the diary to Thea as well. "This might give you all the answers you've ever wanted about Westly. It's his diary."
Lena held the second file in her hand and clutched it. She knew about Thea's past and she wondered if she should be given this because it might hurt her more, but part of her made her realise that Thea deserved to know ALL that her father had done for her. Lena looked down at the file again and then at Thea. She swallowed and then handed out the second file.
"This was what he has been doing behind my back and it seems he's been doing it for you." Lena said. "I'll be with Westly, when you want to talk." Lena said as she kissed her cousin on the forehead and waddled her way out of Westly's office towards the intensive care unit.
****
Westly was hooked up to all sorts of machines with all sorts of IVs attached to him. His heart monitor was slowly and steadily beeping while his IVs filled with fluids and bloods dripped. His bandages would need changing in a few hours and his ventilators moved in time with the beeping machines. The parts of his body that weren't covered in machines, bandages or the blanket had dried blood on them and dirt. His fingernails were chipped and scuffed with blood, dirt and grime. His hair was matted and stuck to his head.
Lena sat down in one of those squishy, fake leather chairs that almost swallow you whole and held Westly's bandaged hand with an IV in it. She stroked what part of his bare skin she could touch and started to talk.
"How could you not tell me? How could you not let me know?" Lena muttered to him. "All that you've done for her, why not let me know? Why not let anyone know?" Lena asked as she brought his hand to her lips and lightly kissed it. "I think she does care for you, deep, deep, deep down, but what we've just found...she might need some time." Lena chuckled a little. "I'll go check on her in a little while." Lena just continued to ramble at Westly's sleeping form.

((Forgive this reply if it sounds dumb lol been a while since I RP’ed on here XD))
Ariella was sitting at home when she got a call. Not just any call, but a call from her daughter, Solaria. Solaria was living at the Guild now and worked as a teacher, but today was her day off.
“Mama,” came the voice on the other side of the connection, “I’ve been avoiding telling you this for a little while now, because I wasn’t sure how you’d handle it but... you need to come to the Guild ASAP. Your mate, Westly, is pretty banged up, they just took him out of surgery and he’s resting but he might wanna see you when he wakes up.”
Ariella did some deep breathing before responding to her adoptive daughter. “Alright, baby, I’m comin’. But Heaven help whoever hurt him. I just might need to give Slater a call again.” Her tone was a bit dark and angry, but she’d talk - just talk - to Westly once he was awake.
She grabbed the keys to her old truck and yelled for James to be ready to go. He likely wouldn’t want to leave Anna, so unless she wanted to come, now was the time for him to decide whether or not he wanted to come see the man who was basically his stepfather. ~~~ Upstairs, James was in his room, getting into some comfier clothes and cuddling with his beloved wife after a hard day - DJ tried to come out not one, not two, but three times today, and trying to keep him in was hard on the young man. He was also trying to figure out where the hell his sister was. She was elusive as hell now that she’d seemingly run away for good. He heard his mother yelling and sat up, going to check out what his mother was yelling for.
((Hope that’s good enough for now lol))

Eventually, Loki changed back into human form shortly before he buzzed the button.
“State your business,” came a gruff voice.
“I’m here to see Thea Constantine.” His voice contained anger, his fists clenched behind his back. Even so, he said his business with a rather familiar smirk on his face. If anyone knew Thea well they would know that it was her smirk. “Tell her it’s an emergency.”
** Thea sat hunched over for about an hour at Westly’s desk , pouring over the first file and trying to look for anything that might be loopholes or falsities. She couldn’t even move her hands anywhere near the diary. She didn’t want to. She didn’t give a damn about his inner thoughts or whatever he had in that stupid book. Frankly, she couldn’t really care less about the savings account or the will or whatever he had done to her ATV behind her back – it wasn’t even hers anyway. What she had cared about was the man that he went after. So in the second file, she read about Lord Edgar. That was his alias in the Arena. Lord Edgar of the West. He had bid his money on Thea and Darren after the fight between them and the condor-shifter and the rhino-shifter. And he had bid a lot. She had only known a name, a face, and a mask. She begrudgingly marveled at Westly’s information he had on Edgar.
Then suddenly, she had an idea.
**
“I’m going after him.” Thea stood in front of Selena, her back facing Westly. She had the folder in her hand containing information about Lord Edgar. “I’m not sure how long I’m going to be gone. I’m going to tell Ventia and Azalea that I’ll be out doing Guild business to ensure my Warrior duties are taken care of. And I’m telling you now that I’m going after this son of a bitch. I know that A-Team is Westly’s team and they came back with him. I’m going to use B-Team unless A-Team wants to bounce back from this. But I’m going after Lord Edgar,” she paused before she used his actual name, even more annoyed that she had slipped up, “Edgar Jackson and make him pay for his crimes.”

Lena turned to look up at Thea as she came in. Lena nodded slowly as she knew that was what she would say and Lena looked at Westly again, who was stable, but covered in tubes, bandages and tape.
"Okay, let's get stuff together and go then." Lena said with a lot of conviction. "I will put Kenneth in charge while we go." Lena got up and straightened out her top over her bulging belly. "You'll need my magic."
Lena walked over to Westly and leaned down, kissing his forehead as she did and then stood up. "Yeah, we can take B Team. A Team can stay here and rest up." Lena stood up and walked over to Thea.
"Let's gear up." Lena commanded.

Thea had watched as Lena kissed Westly’s forehead. This was the first time she even glanced his way, and thus took in his wounds. Her heart clenched painfully, and she became overwhelmed with a feeling of helplessness and despair. In hindsight, she wouldn’t put it past that those feelings carried over to Kenneth via the mate bond because she had a very small threshold for those feelings.
Why did he even go after him? she asked herself, taking a deep breath, making an attempt to lock those feelings away. And she was almost there, just about to put a metaphorical lock on the box before another thought came to her, this time unbidden and almost said out loud.
That should be me on that table.
It took a few minutes to wrench her gaze away from Westly, because she didn’t realize she was staring with those emotions plainly written on her face until Lena spoke.
“Absolutely not,” Thea’s reply came with a ferocity that she was not afraid to show. That momentary weakness was gone, and if anyone said anything to her about it, she would deny it vehemently. “I can’t let you go when you look close to popping.”
Drogo came in, then, eating the distance between him and Lena in large, purpose-filled strides. “You will not go,” Drogo said, shaking his head firmly before sweeping Lena into his arms and coming down for a “I’m not giving you a chance to answer because I’m going to take your breath away, you crazy woman” kiss.
“As much as I hate the fact that we agree on something,” Thea muttered, backing out of the room. “I don’t need magic,” she said over her shoulder. It took all she had not to sprint away from those doors, her skin itching with a desire to shift so that she can get farther away, faster. She knew that Drogo wouldn’t have a hold of Lena for long, if he even had a hold of her to begin with.
Kenneth, she said via mate bond. His name came out of her mind in a matter-of-fact tone, no trace of weakness left. Or even any trace of her chaos. With this plan set, she was fixated on it. Assemble B-Team for me.
*** “Unfortunately,” the guard said in a not so sorry tone after a few minutes of silence. “She’s busy.”
“Thea, busy?” Loki asked, scoffing. “Did you even try to get her attention for me?”
“Yes,” the guard replied shortly (even though he really didn’t. He knew that she was caught up at the moment, as was the Chief and most other higher ups). “But I can take a message for her and she will get back with you whenever she’s ready.”
Loki felt so close to smiting the man, but he was willing to give him one last chance. “Use my words exactly. “I, Loki, God of Mischief, demand to see Thea, descendent of my loins, immediately.”
“I’ll let her know. Have a good day.”

Lena didn't see the emotions going through Thea as she was too busy looking at Westly and thinking about what she needed to do. Her mind was running through the logistics, the armour they had and what cars they would need.
"Let me? I run this place!" Lena growled and she muttered curses under her breath when Drogo came in, throwing his big muscular weight around and if his arms hadn't been around Lena she would have been floored by the fact Thea and Drogo agreed with each other. Lena quickly kissed Drogo back and then turned to Thea just as she started backing out of the room.
"If you won't take me then Drogo is coming with you!" Lena screamed at Thea as she slunked away. "You going to let me go?" Lena asked. "Or will I need to make you?"
****
Kenneth was in the armoury sorting out the stuff that A Team had brought back as they were now resting up.
Kenneth could feel bits and pieces of what Thea was feeling and he could tell that she was feeling something he never thought she would feel towards her father.
Kenneth knew why Westly had gone after this Lord Edgar. Everyone had heard the stories and Westly had driven himself crazy looking for this man. Kenneth had seen him up late into the night on his computer, reading through files and getting faxes. It was like he was a man possessed. Kenneth constantly found Westly either asleep at his desk, drinking coffee and energy drinks like they were going out of fashion or researching.
When Kenneth heard Thea in his head, he could tell she was bottling feelings up again. He sighed as he knew they were going after the guy who did all this, but he knew he could not go. He had been in A Team and had been shot in the thigh dragging Westly out of that warehouse. Maria had taken the bullet out and stitched him up, but he couldn't shift for another few hours. Kenneth knew that Thea was going to yell at him for being shot and not telling her.
Kenneth hobbled over to the comms unit in the armoury and pressed the button to notify Team B via their pagers. The message read: All Team B members to conference room A now
Kenneth told Thea through the mate bond that they had all been called to conference room A.
Kenneth put the last gun away and made his way to Conference A.
**** The teams in the Guild were made up of a leader, and in Team B it was Frederick, the third in command, 2 scouts or trackers, 2 hackers, 2 healers, 2 fighters/assassins and a translator.
Frederick picked up the translator, a petite young woman called Allie who had pixie short black hair and knew more languages than she should, the two hackers, who were twin sisters called Tia and Mia who both went to MIT as teenagers and both were tall with long black hair and he picked up one of the assassins, an ex gymnast called Tyson who looked muscular but was very quick and silent, he never spoke just grunted.
Frederick and half of his team got into the conference room and sat down in their seats. They all knew this would be something to do with Westly. They just needed to know where they were going and for who.

Thea wouldn’t say that she slunked per se, because that would imply that she had her tail stuck between her legs, afraid of the mission ahead of her or if her father was going to survive. “As if Drogo would be any use to me,” she muttered under her breath, but didn’t argue any more. She was surprised that Lena actually gave in that quickly. Did she question it? No, and was actually thankful for Drogo. If it wasn’t for him, she would probably be having a scream fest with her cousin. And she didn’t need that on top of this.
Drogo’s fore finger and thumb grasped Lena’s chin gently, not bothering to hide the fact that he was happy Lena didn’t fight either one of them. Though he’d rather stay with Lena and wished that Kenneth could go with Thea, he wasn’t going to complain. He knew that Kenneth went with Westly and A-Team and he had been injured. (He also knew that Thea would blow up when she found out. He didn’t want to be caught in the crossfire of that debacle.) He would go in what he thought of as Kenneth’s place, if it meant keeping someone Lena loved safe.
Even if he couldn’t stand Thea.
“Before I do,” Drogo said gently, making sure that Lena was looking at him. “Are you all right? I know that seeing someone you love like this is ... traumatic to say the least.”
Thea nodded firmly at Kenneth’s words to her, taking a deep breath in before exhaling it slowly. She slowed her pace, her brows drawn together in a frown as her chest tightened in a whole new feeling together.
She wanted Kenneth to ... hold her.
Which was crazy, because other than those few times, she knew herself to be someone that had to become her own rock and prided herself to be an independent individual. But the ache, she knew, could most likely be soothed by his touch. She wanted him to gather her up and tell her that everything will be fine. That Westly will live and bounce back from this and they were going to get these bastards that she thought were dead.
Lord Edgar wasn’t so active in her life as, say, the Ring Leader. Or Cleo, for that matter. But he was a prominent patron of the Arena, taking a particular interest in “Princess” and “Snowball” after they beat the odds that had been stacked against them. He was like a distant god, taking interest only when it benefitted him. And when her mother and her pack rescued her and Timothy and Darius, she thought that he had died in the explosion.
(Good riddance, too. He was just as evil as the Ring Leader. And if THAT man came back from the dead, she’d eat her ax.)
She wanted to entertain the idea of Kenneth coming with so that he could help make sure that Lord Edgar of the West did die. But she shot that down as quickly as it came up. It was bad enough that her father stuck his nose in her business - look where that got him. Thea would not be able to live with herself if Kenneth got that way.
“Thea!”
She stopped when an unknown voice called to her, looking to the origin. From the “uniform” he wore, she guessed he was working security. He had a crazed look in his eyes as he fell down on his knees and stammered, “Someone is here to see you.” And after that he pressed his face into his hands and shook in silent sobs.
Slightly disgusted, she stepped back and looked around to find someone to help her with this. The she-wolf didn’t have time for this. Each minute Lord Edgar lived was a minute too long. With no one in close proximity to take care of the insipid guard, she barked out, “Who? Did you get a name?”
“Loki. He said his name was Loki and that he was the god of mischief.”
What the fuck? Not now. For the briefest of moments, she was stuck with going to find out what Loki had done to make this nameless shifter cry like a baby or dismissing the god altogether so that she can brief B-Team on what their mission was.
Kenneth, do you know why I need B-Team? she asked, clearly exasperated, as she bent down to pick the guard to his feet. A problem came up at the front so I’ll be a few minutes late.
***
The other half of B-Team came in one at a time, with the other fighter/assassin coming in first. Everyone referred to him as Tabasco, even though his actual name was Harold Greer. No matter where he went he had a small bottle of Tabasco sauce in his pocket. His face constantly matched his hair (red in color), and always sporting a handlebar mustache that connected with his sideburns. He was a burly fellow, but that mean he didn’t know how to get around. He did very well at being a jack of all trades: proficient in sniping, and knew enough ranged fighting to get around. The only reason why he wasn’t on A-Team was that he didn’t feel like getting into a particular niche.
The scouts where very different in physique, but had a very similar air about them. One was Raina: a goose-shifter with a slightly elongated neck and a very distinct nose. When she laughed, she honked very much like her shift. She wasn’t the prettiest shifter by any means. But she got her job done. Because who was going to be brave enough to go up to a goose?
No one, that’s who.
The other scout was a mouse shifter. She didn’t stand any higher that 5’1”, with large black eyes and dark, silky hair. She was naturally timid, but if the guild needed to be in tight spaces, by golly she got in them.
The last two that came in were the healers. Two siblings, golden-haired. The older brother had brown eyes, the younger sister had hazel green. Unlike the scouts, They didn’t look anything like their shifts. Matthew and Daphne shifted into sable-colored bovines, with Matthew sporting bold and sharp horns. With a ten years’ difference, they weren’t really that close. But they did feel protective of one another.

Lena did hear what Thea muttered, her hearing had gotten crazy good with this pregnancy, but Lena couldn't be asked to fight with her cousin. She knew it was stupid of her to go, but she wanted to get the ass who did this to her uncle and she felt responsible as it happened under her watch, with her Guild. She felt like it was her fault because she ran this place and she used to run it like a tight ship, but cracks had formed since she focused more on Thea, Drogo, her magic and now her pregnancy. She needed to get back to being the hard ass daughter of two of the most dangerous assassins ever.
"I will be fine. This family has fought through so much and will continue to. Westly is going to be fine." Lena said with conviction. She looked to where Thea had just left and sighed. "Look, this is personal to Thea and she's gonna go crazy. Try to keep her as in line as possible, we don't need a blood bath. Keep her safe and keep her alive." Lena sighed as she thought about all that Thea could and would get up to. "You best get down to where Team B is, probably conference room A as that is where Team A would have been, but if not they will definitely be in B." Lena ran her hands through her hair. "I am going to stay here with Westly. I dont need to know what ya'll are going to do." Lena kissed Drogo on the cheek and then slowly sat down in the leather chair next to Westly's bed.
****
Kenneth walked into conference room A just as the two healers walked in and took their seats. Kenneth nodded to Frederick in respect and Frederick nodded back. Kenneth heard Thea in his head and told her he knew and would start without her.
"This about what happened to Westly?" Frederick asked as Kenneth set up the conference room TV.
"Yeah"
"Why are we going and not A Team?" Allie asked.
"A Team saved Westly, some are hurt." Kenneth replied as he loaded up the files from Westlys computer.
"Why didn't the rescue team save him?" Tia asked.
"Yeah, aren't they his team?" Mia asked.
"Because they were saving as many of the girls as they could from this place."
"As they could? This mean there are more?" Frederick growled and Tyson grunted in anger.
"Yes"
"So who are we after?" Frederick asked as the team turned to the conference room TV.
"Edgar Jackson aka Lord Edgar. He's a 40 year old crime lord known for the selling, distribution and worse of girls. He is someone from Thea's past and Westly found out. Lord Edgar seems to be about 50 miles from here in a warehouse district and he hasn't got just one warehouse, he's got 4, so he could be anywhere." Kenneth said as he started flicking through slides. "Rescue team closed down one of the warehouses and torched it. We need to hit Jackson hard again or he will fall into a black hole like all sleezeballs do." Kenneth flicked through more slides. "Thea will be along soon to co-ordinate what you guys are doing with the other three warehouses. I am just here to give you the background as I can't go." Kenneth said.
"Do we have free range on cars and guns?" Tia asked and Tyson grunted in agreement.
"Yes"
Tyson actually grinned and grunted in happiness as he leaned back into his seat, thinking about all the stuff he could now use.
"We want this done quickly. In, out, no fuss. We want Jackson dead. This whole place is like a snake, cut off the head and they body dies. None of these idiot underlings have what it takes to take over, but if you manage to take them out then good." Kenneth explained as he showed a handwritten hierarchical graph Westly had made and scanned on to his computer, it showed Lord Edgar and his four top workers - well 3 now as one warehouse and head was gone.
"Right, Mia and Tia, I want you two to hack into government satellites now and see what is going on above those warehouses." The twins nodded and opened up their laptops before fast clicking and tapping happened. Within 10 minutes the twins pinged over the image they got.
"Right, get a look of the land and let's figure out how we are going to do this."

Drogo took a large breath in, then let it out in a rush. He knew what his mate was feeling. She took the weight and shouldered it without asking anyone to help her with it. The Guild was her home and work and everything in between. Not only was A-Team damaged, her uncle had taken quite a big blow. He couldn’t relate to how she felt stuck with such responsibility, and would probably let her go with Thea if it weren’t for the fact that she was with his child. But because of that, he wasn’t going to let his mate be in any danger.
“I will try,” Drogo said, looking at the door Thea exited out of before looking back at his mate. His beautiful, headstrong mate carrying their daughter. It was inappropriate, he knew, given that this was a horrible time to think so, but he just wanted to devour her. He kept it tame for her, and just kissed her on the forehead after she sat in the chair by Westly’s bed. “But maybe this time it could be a good thing to have a ticking time bomb like Thea with us. Any man who preys on little children and can do that-“ he motioned to Westly’s prone form - “to my father, I would want blood, as well.”
And then he left for meeting room A.
** The thing about dealing with the god of mischief is that what he thinks is mischievous is actually harmful to his victims.
After an almost-relieved “thank you” to Kenneth, she closed off the mate link for now as she went to go deal with her many-times-great grandfather with one such victim leaning into her heavily. “Nooooooo, I don’t want to g-goooo,” he sobbed like a child, hiccuping hard between said sobs. “He’s s-scary.”
At his post, she hit a pressure point that made him slump over in sleep, causing her to crack her back and sigh in relief. Then she hardened her face and opened the door to reveal Loki.
“Ah, finally!” He said, a boyish grin on his face. He stepped in without so much as a “may I?” looking at her with a twinkle in his eye. “I trust that that young man went to get you like I asked.”
“What do you want, Loki?” Thea demanded, and her eyes squinted when he tsked at her.
“Just because you are my blood doesn’t mean I won’t do what I did to him.” He motioned with his head to the slumped guard. “I will get respect where it is due. Especially from family.”
Now, Thea wasn’t much for threats, regardless of who said or made them. But the main reason she didn’t call his bluff was that she had other matters that needed to be seen to than a temperamental god.
A temperamental god that no one knows about! Fuck!
“Look, Loki, I need you to leave because I’ve got something very important that I need to do that won’t take any longer than a few days if that. Is there any way whatever you want of me can wait until I’m free?” There was a desperation in her eyes, and her voice rose an octave, but other than that she didn’t give off any vibe that he needed to leave.
So he shrugged his shoulders. “Sure, it can. I’m sure that whatever is going on with you is more important that little old me.”
“Are you going to ...?”
“Leave? Oh no. I solemnly swear I won’t be a burden,” he replied, raising his right hand as if taking an oath while he crossed his fingers and hid them behind his back with his left. “Besides, whatever it is I’m sure you’ll benefit from my presence.”
After a few moments, she groaned and walked away. “Just, please don’t be obnoxious.”
“I will be a fly on the wall!”
**
By the time Drogo took a seat and was filled in on what was going down, Thea walked in. No one should have seen, but there was a horse fly that followed close behind and settled on the wall. Thea was definitely agitated, but most of them took in her appearance as a surprise. Sure, they were told that Thea would coordinate this, but some felt that Kenneth was pulling their legs. Tobasco did especially since this was Westly’s original plan and Thea hated him, but when Thea walked in he sat up straight.
“Nice job on the images,” Thea said, slamming the door behind her quickly as if she didn’t want someone to come in behind her. “We’re going to have to take a transport van or two to get all of the girls out of there. Matthew, Daphne. Since you are our healers I want you and Drogo to take care of that.”
“Right,” Daphne said, nodding her head.
“As for infiltrating the compound itself, Raina will fly overhead and survey where, if there are any, the guards will be. We’re looking for shift-switches. More than likely 8 to 10 hour intervals. If we have to do a stakeout, we will, but I don’t want for it to come to that.”
“I know how to scout.”
BAM! Thea’s fist hit the table, her upper lip lifted in a snarl as she looked at the goose-shifter like a threat. “Did I ask you if you knew your job?”
Raina, who had leaned back in her chair away from Thea as far as she could go, shook her head slowly.
“I thought not.”
Thea continued then, her upper lip still curled. “The mouse-shifter - what’s your name?”
“W-Wendy,” she replied, shrinking into her seat.
“Wendy will be deposited onto the roof of each warehouse after that, giving us insight into the warehouses and the layout. Where the girls are located and the such.”
Then she looked to Kenneth and Frederick, silently asking, almost as if goading them, if she had overstepped.

Lena smiled when Drogo kissed her. Lena sighed as she listened to what Drogo had said. She knew that she would love to get the man who killed her father, but at the same time, the complexity of this case would require a bit of a level head, which is why Lena was sending Drogo.
"I understand the want for blood, but sending the daughter of the man who is lying in ICU, might not be my smartest plan. No family member will ever have a level head when it comes to revenge. Just keep her on the mission; in, out and no mess." Lena ordered.
****
Kenneth sent calming and soothing waves to Thea through the bond. He reminded her that they were her team and needed to trust her just like she needed to trust that they knew how to do their jobs or they wouldn't be in the Guild.
Kenneth hobbled around the desk and handed the clicker to Thea for the slides. "They are all yours, boss." He kissed her forehead. "I'm going to watch over Lena." Kenneth quickly left the room and went up to the ICU to sit with Lena.

Tyson barely suppressed a growl but he knew that the man who had been beaten to an inch of his life was this girl's father and no matter what she said, that was still her father. He breathed out and listened.
"So we have 4 trained killers, one killer for each warehouse and you take out Edgar." Frederick stated. He pointed to Tyson, Tabasco, himself and Thea. Frederick knew that Thea would want to go after the man who hurt Westly.
Tia and Mia started an algorithm that pinged data into a spreadsheet for all movements, shift changes, heat signatures and each person was assigned a tag.
"We obviously can't see who is in the warehouse and how many." Tia said. "That's where Wendy and Raina come in."
"We can tell you when shift changes happen and if someone can get to each warehouse's electricity box, then we can shut it down." Tyson nodded and held up a hand as if to say that he could do it.
"We need to be within 3 miles of the warehouses." Mia said.
"Mia and Tia can be in the tricked out black surveillance van with all the cool gear." Frederick said and the twins cheered. "We can set up a base there. Is 3 miles too far for the girls to walk to buses?" Frederick asked Thea. "Raina and Wendy, you two need to be careful. These people know we are shifters after what happened to Westly. They may shoot any animal they see."
Frederick turned back to the TV. The algorithm was running in the bottom corner. "Right, let's zoom out and see what security measures we are dealing with." Tia and Mia clicked and clicked their computers. The surveillance cameras zoomed out and split into two before one panned left and the other panned right.
"I see electric fence." Said Tia
"And guard dogs." Mia said
"From heat signatures on the ground there seems to be bombs in the west section and boobie traps on the east." Tia said
"North we have the dogs and...bears." Mia said as she squinted at the animals.
"South it looks like the main and only road in and out of the compound behind the second electric fence and it is swarming with guards." Tia finished off.
"Looking overhead, the place had CCTV, motion sensors and big assed lights. We need to get to the compounds electrical boxes, which are...." Mia said as she searched for them. "In the middle of the mine field. If we take that out then the fences are dead, the cameras are dead and the warehouses are blacked out."
"Good work girls, so whoever goes to the switch box, what do they have to do?" Frederick asked.
"We will give a USB to push into the mainframe and we will do the rest." Tia replied.
"Okay, what do you want to do Thea?" Frederick asked.

Through the eyes of the fly, he saw everything. Perched on top of the TV, the gray body blended in nicely on the upper right hand corner. Loki grew increasingly more interested in Thea doling out the instructions, one moment a fierce and bloodthirsty leader that was not afraid to use an iron fist, then in the next moment she relaxed her shoulders almost imperceptibly, eyes softening when she glanced at Kenneth.
So this must be the mate, he mused, wings buzzing almost in anticipation. I wonder... He watched Kenneth leave after giving Thea a kiss, noting his hobbled walk to the door. Was he lame? The god thought that the mate-bonding paired two of which were best matched to create strong offspring. Thea was of strong pedigree (Loki could attest to that, most definitely), so he was sure that the mate had an equally impressive family tree. But maybe he was wrong in the bond and shifters just mated like rabbits.
Or could be, he could be descended of the Greek Pantheon? He was familiar with Hephaestus, the ugliest and most lame god he had ever met. But Loki did like the god, and wouldn’t be opposed to the mating if Kenneth had him in his lineage.
Turning back his attention to Thea, his wings buzzed again in amusement because she was red in the face from embarrassment. She had her back to the team, using the device Kenneth handed her to furiously flick through the images of the TV. As if sensing his gaze, Thea glanced up, then down, then up again as recognition dawned on her.
That’s right, he thought to himself. You can’t get rid of me that easily. He waved once with one of his legs, wings buzzing again as if to say, “Yes, dear. I’m right here.”
Her gaze hardened once more, before shaking her head once as if it was a signal to Loki to stay hidden. Then turned back to clicking through the tv.
Forward-forward-forward. Back-back. Forward once more when she realized she went too far, then her face was washed of all its color. “How recent are these photos?” She asked, for the moment ignoring Frederick’s question of what she wanted to do in this plan. Then she turned back to Frederick. Loki was familiar with the mannerisms of the wolf to know that if she had been shifted, her ears would have been pinned back and her hackles raised. She was afraid, but she was doing well in hiding it, masking it with anger. (She was good at it, even convincing herself that she was angry and cold. Nobody could get to her. Nobody cared enough to save her from her own demons, anyway. And so she was that of a person with nothing to lose, yet nothing to gain. Dangerous and deadly.”
“Because if they’re very recent, I want after both this man - “ she pointed at the screen, more specifically - “and Edgar.”
The red-haired man that sat closest to the screen leaned forward and squinted as if he had a hard time seeing what Thea saw. “Who’s that?” He asked, a twang in his voice that gave off the air that he wasn’t too bright.
“He went by the Ring Leader,” Thea responded, steel in her voice. “See the mask he’s wearing? Few years back I was essentially in a dog-fighting ring, but with shifters. The Ring Leader was the owner, and people like our current target bid on us. They used masks to hide their identities, just in case if any one broke out and they exacted revenge, it would be difficult to find them.”
Loki saw a man toward the very back lean forward toward the edge of the seat, an imperceptible gleam in his eye. “Thea, you don’t have to say anything else.”
“Don’t get soft on me, Drogo. Or I’ll beat your ass,” Thea said, her tone of voice a warning. “I’m saying this much to let you know that one, if you see this mask stay the hell away from the target. I’m going to make sure he stays dead. And two, these targets are dangerous.”
“I know that we’re supposed to be rescuing girls and taking out the target,” Matthew said, hands up in a placating motion even before Thea could take her anger out on him. “But they’re human. What harm could they do?”
“A lot,” Daphne answered for Thea, looking to her brother and giving a shrug. “If they could have a fighting ring with shifters, and if Westly and A-Team couldn’t finish the job, then how can we do it?”
“Hold on, there, Daffy Duck,” Tobasco placated, holding a hand up. “We aren’t low-grade pig slops and A-Team isn’t top-tier - uh, well I was gonna say steak but that’s a bad choice of words.”
Thea had to hold back her laugh, even if it was unexpected and hard to do.
“Anyway. The only reason why we are B is because it’s easier to have a team name and A was taken. All right? We’ll get the girls, clean them up and send them home, then get the bad guys.”
“Um, I don’t want to interrupt the team bonding moment,” Wendy interrupted, her hand raised slightly as if she was in school and she wasn’t sure if she got the answer right. “But I could get through the minefield with the USB stick. When I shift I don’t even weigh a pound so I could get in and out without triggering anything.”
