Julian was ... fast. Undeniably so that Sarah only blinked and he was in front of her. Maybe she was exaggerating, but the fact that she felt the wind of his movements shortly after he moved should have been an indication regardless. Honestly, the speed of which he moved didn’t startle her. The feats of these vampires were never-ending, it seemed, and Sarah got used to being surprised.
As contradictory that sounded.
But they were so close that her nose brushed the middle of his back. Instinctively, her fingers grasped the hem of his shirt, white knuckles an indication of how tight she was holding. She felt skin brush against skin ever so slightly, but she paid no mind as she felt the air stir with magic. She looked at the direction it came from, loosening up her iron-like grip as she stepped back to get a better view. In his hand she saw one of his blades. But she didn’t see it or his other one on this island.
No time to dwell on it now, she thought as she seemed to realize that she had a hold of him. As if he were made of fire, she let go and looked around him to see who came out of the trees. Tension she didn’t know she was holding released as a pointed-eared woman showed herself, then running back the way she came shortly afterward. It was easy to picture herself in the native’s place. A red-eyed man with fangs wasn’t the easiest sight to see. Sarah knew personally because one of her earliest memories here at the aisles were that of a red-eyed General Crevan, her Master.
But the difference was: the native wouldn’t get the chance to see that Julian would be good on his word and not harm her.
The breath Sarah let escape was that of relief, then a thought came across her mind. Hard and sharp, it was like that of Crevan’s words to his men.
Coward.
She was though, wasn’t she? Sarah knew and essentially left court with those with the same intention to train and hone her skills. Felicity gave her such spells that they went over, both offensive and defensive, to learn and master. She could have been ready to use them. Should have. But instead, she hid behind Julian.
Not that he wasn’t able to defend them if it were any other native that wished to seek them harm. But still.
She shook her head, scowling. Then looked up to Julian’s face as he stepped away from her. “What?” Sarah asked before shaking her head this time at him and softening the scowl to a frown. He looked worse for wear, and for the first time she wished Adisa was here so that she could do what Sarah couldn’t.
But Adisa wasn’t here, was she? And it wasn’t like Sarah was going to let him starve. He was the Prince of the Isles, hot God’s sake. Her prince. And she cared for him, dammit. She didn’t want to see him in the least bit uncomfortable.
Besides that, rules were meant to be bent a little bit. Right? Especially arcane rules that were made probably thousands upon thousands of years ago.
“No, don’t go. We don’t know this island as much as back home and with you losing your memory you will get lost. It is best if we stick together.” She straightened her shoulders, lifted her chin, and held her hand out, palm up in offering. “Drink from me.”
***
Felicity didn’t waste any time following after Cardinal, not even bothered by his appearance or the fact that he walked out of the room with such confidence it was as if he knew the halls to walk down to get to the throne room of the king and (temporarily imposter) queen.
If only she knew they were in there.
The day was still pretty early, and as much as she knew about the vampires’ court (i.e. the days which the king and queen heard petitions from the citizens, when the queen gave Sarah lessons and what times the king was holed away in his office) as far as she knew Damien smartly had Jewel in Laina’s body in the queen’s quarters feigning illness and Laina in Jewel’s body “poring over the ways as doctor and king to heal the queen”.
“Would you let me-lead-the-way, please,” she huffed, walking faster to catch up with the Puck. “Honestly, you never look before you leap.”
“What’s the fun in looking when there is a chance I might talk myself out of an adventure?” He winked, then slowed down so that Felicity walked side by side with him. It was almost comical to see them walk in such a way because he was a foot and a half taller than she. “Lead the way.”
And so she did, straightening out her dignified peat-brown skirt (a modest color for Felicity who normally liked the bold colors of a rich wine red and noble navy) along the way. She spotted a maid ten feet down the hall and she called to her.
“Excuse me, but where might the king and queen be at this hour?” She wanted to make sure. Sometimes the castle could be a maze and with news of the ship wrecking she didn’t want to waste any time looking for them. “It is incredibly important.”

Julian remembered how close she had been behind him and it made his eyes glow, he had barely heard her when she said to feed on her to keep him strong. He slowly turned around he could still feel her fingertips where they had been. His skin felt like fire and showed. He looked all most like he had a fever as sweat dripped from him. Smoke seemed to be rising off him. His eyes focused on blurred vision, seeing her wrist out to him had him only stop moving for a moment. He descended on her hand his fangs sinking into her skin. Her softness tasting like marzipan. Just her skin alone was a delight. He wondered what her blood would be. He drank readily and without respite the more he drank the clearer things seemed till he pulled back her blood dripped from his lips hitting the ground. Something sizzled and a force whooshed across the island.
~*~
Adisa saw the magic in the air dissipate and disappear," What the hell is going on?" She said standing up. Anya did the same looking around the woman would laugh." I blood I thought that was no longer accessible has come to us. I know if I get this person and bring it to her she will need to lift the curse on me" she seemed hysterical with her laugh that Adisa used the butt of her spear to knock her out." What?! She was getting annoying." Anya would shake her head and laugh.
~*~
Helliana had made it down to port finding no ships in dock, she would let out a roar of anger. Some fishermen turning to look at her express her rage. She saw a small raft and dismissed the thought of sailing on something that was the amount of a teacup in the sea. "Go back to your fishing." She hissed they would shrug turning back to their fishing as she started to leave them. They spoke of her and she ignored it. She started her way back to the castle or at least up the road away so she could watch the bay from there to see if a ship was coming in.
The maid was dusting the table off with the ornaments in a row on the floor. It seemed she had a polish kit ready to polish said items. She jumped and kicked one of them it crashing into the wall. She made a whining noise." I believe Mistress that they would be in the queen's quarters. I heard they are doubling their efforts there. With it being close and all if they find a cure?" She would pick up the metal ornament placing it back in the row. Setting aside the duster she would then sit on a small stool to begin the polishing process her large maid skirt billowing around her. "Are you to deliver more books?" looking up when there was no answer she would blink seeing they were gone. It seemed they had been in a hurry she would shrug her shoulders and go back to her work.
~*~
Damien would yawn as he looked through a book sitting on a chair with his feet up on a table. He mumbled to himself a little reading the pages. He would reach and pluck a goblet from the table as he drank the blood wine. 'Jewel' would look to him smiling seeing him so focused it was endearing. She would look through her book pacing slowly she assumed that the transition had kept 'Lania' Asleep. The deep pain in her body had eased a bit but was still potent to some. " My love?" he said putting his feet down slowly standing up to come over to her still holding the goblet as well." What is this?" 'Jewel' walked over to him looking at the books page." This might help ease the pain. I do not know if it will remove the demon smut from the body." She said seeing him suck in his breath and close the book setting it down gently even though he wanted to throw it." This is very maddening." 'Jewel' giggled softly." Well if it was easy she would of not come here." 'Jewel' looked to 'Laina'.

The only reason why she didn’t cry out or try to run was that she feared Julian would pull away. Like with Crevan, there was this deep urge to flee. Maybe it was because of some genetic makeup or she was naturally flighty but with those read eyes fixating her on like that she felt like prey. Yet she stood there, refusing to take away what she offered because it was clear that Julian was not feeling well. Her wrist didn’t have to stay up in offering for long. She was glad for it because she didn’t want to have to try to force Julian to feed. But it hurt.
Of course it would, and having this been her second time offering her blood she wasn’t sure what the norm was. It didn’t hurt as much with her Master, but maybe it was different with each vampire? Who knew, because she sure as hell didn’t and wasn’t about to dwell on it as she watched with increasing dizziness and felt her blood leaving her body and entering his own in great pulls.
With her being of three different species, there was a myriad of flavors that hit Julian’s tongue. The spice would have hit it first, undeniably the more prominent of the three as if it demanded its presence be known. Soon after it came the soothing presence of a certain sweetness. Vanilla, maybe, or was it fruity? Whatever it was it tempered the heat nicely. And the last wasn’t so much of a flavor as it was an enhancer. There was power there, no doubt. Untapped. Waiting. It’s existence heady with the potential of greatness.
Did Sarah know this? No. Of the times that she did just happen to taste her blood, she only tasted the metallic tang if iron-enriched blood. And she thought that the vampires tasted that too. She didn’t question why or how of the biological need, nor did she think that it would taste any different because she didn’t need to drink blood to survive.
She knew that there was a magickal quality to blood though. Both the queen and Felicity have told her so. And there were spells within the family tome that did require blood. But those were advanced and meticulous. Sarah has great potential but Felicity has stated that Sarah was not ready to mess with those.
She knew that it was barely more than a two-minute process, but Sarah felt that she stood there forever, subconsciously holding onto Julian as she felt her knees grow weak and her head swim. Pain throbbed up her arm up to her shoulder, making her grit her teeth. But she dared not say or utter a sound. Breath rushed out of her lungs unbidden when Julian detached himself from her, not so much as in relief but in the fact that she didn’t realize she was holding her breath.
It was strangely intimate no matter how much pain she was in, she thought. Then all thoughts ceased as goosebumps rushed all over her body. The magic wave was ... so much. That’s all she could say to describe it. It made Julian’s sword appearance look like a bluegill fish compared to a great white shark. (Not that Julian couldn’t do impressive things, mind.)
But she didn’t comment on it. Despite her rush of vertigo, she smiled at Julian softly. “Better now?”
** Panos stayed behind, opting to be Jewel’s personal guard no matter if she felt betrayed or not by his revelation. And with this body-switching situation, he was afraid she was more vulnerable. Thankfully, the demon hasn’t made an appearance yet, and the queen’s ... witch wasn’t sniffing around. Keeping this mishap under wraps was imperative to him.
With his super senses, he heard Felicity and Cardinal coming up to the door before they knocked. Looking up to the king and the queen in his granddaughter’s body he said simply, “We have guests.”
Then the knock happened thirty seconds later, three sharp raps then a “Yoo-hoo!”
“Cardinal!” Panos heard Felicity hiss, causing him to hold back a chuckle. “Your Majesties,” she continued. “May we come in?”
That was when “Laina” woke, naturally a late starter if she didn’t have an alarm clock or someone to wake up. “What’s happening?” Her voice was thick with sleep, taking the heel of her palm and rubbing at her eye.

Julian seemed to come out of his reverted state as he let out a sigh grabbing her arm he would drop saliva on her wounds and it would seal. He had tasted the myriad of flavors the heat he enjoyed the most when it rushed him. It tasted like the heat of Dragon's breath chili pepper. It was a jolt to his system to be hushed by the sweet taste of figs. Though the topper gave a savory feel of a smokey hint. The tying had him savoring it even after he let go. It was not even cut short when Alister appeared on the island." Well about time." He said looking between them wondering who had dispelled the barrier by the witches. It was all most as if Julian was high for a moment as he quickly came back to reality.
"I don't know what you're talking about." His voice was husky with a sleepy heady feel to it. Alister seemed torn between remaining with them and tearing across the island to the one who was potentially dying to harvest his soul which he found more important to him. Yet Sarah was important as well. So he remained for Felicity's sake so she would be safe. " I take it you got separated from the rest of our group?" He asked looking around his disappointment at the men who were lucky to have their souls pass on.
~*~
Damien chuckled seeing 'Lania' Finally rise enough to be awake. He did not blame her for wanting to sleep in even if it was not her normal routine. " Everyone is decent." HE said with another chuckle this time 'Jewel' would backhand his chest which only made him chuckle more. " That was so light it felt like a feather." He said smiling to her. She looked to him with a glare for a moment to pick up another book to read through that might help in the effort to restore the body to its normal state.
He took would take up another book moving through the large room. He started opening the curtains so that Felicity might be able to move around comfortably once inside. It was 'Jewel' who yawned lightly as if feeling the limit of the body. She had not been sleeping while looking for the cure to rid the body of the essence. Alister and the throne seemed gone for the moment.

Sarah found herself, yet again, clutching onto Julian for dear life. While this time she held onto him for balance she couldn’t quite believe her own forward-ness. It wasn’t as if she was trying to hit on him, no. But really if she were in court it would be frowned upon surely. So when she was confident that she could navigate through the lack of blood loss she let go and watched him seal the wound. Now it looked like ... well it looked like two red spots were the punctured had been.
At Alister’s voice, she jumped. Of course, she knew that voice anywhere. That didn’t mean that he didn’t scare the shit out of her. In the back of her mind she wondered if Alister would say something to Crevan when they all reunited. She definitely expected Adisa’s wrath. If either one did she would put it exactly how it went down. Julian needed blood and she was the only one who could give it at the time.
And that was that.
She pushed away the imaginary scenario and smiled at the demon. Indeed, he had become a friend in the time she spent with him and Crevan. The smile was short, true, yet still had the warmth she held for him.
The pensive look on his face had her mirroring it. Where had he come from anyway? What barrier? She didn’t think there was one. Was that why he didn’t show himself till now? “Y-yes, we did,” Sarah responded when they were asked if they got separated. “Although I’m not sure how or why.” Her eyes followed Alister’s to the remnants of the ship. “You would think that we would have crashed in one spot.”
Then she waved her hand in a dismissive gesture. “We need to find them, then find a way to get off this island. It’s clear the natives don’t like us.” One foot stepped forward, and when it was clear to her that she wasn’t going to fall over she took another, surer step until she picked up the rolled up papers that she didn’t even think she dropped and reached for her pack. *** “Laina” sat up, the aches she had felt in this body making it hard for her to do. But she had to admit that while Jewel sat in this body she felt a progress of the body healing. Indeed, the spell Sarah cast did help with the pain. But there was that ... demon. Whoever or whatever it was she knew that Laina would not be completely healed until it was exorcised from her body. A demonic possession was a parasitic relationship. Only one of the two parties was benefitting from the pair and it sure wasn’t Laina.
When the door opened, she found it comical that both Felicity and Cardinal tried to come in at the same time, once, twice, three times before Felicity elbowed his ribs. “You daft faerie,” she hissed at him, Irish brogue especially thick because she had to deal with him. “I said to let me take the lead.” And then she walked in first with a Cardinal at her heels. It was clear that she didn’t find their exchange funny. In fact, she was paler than usual, her eyebrows drawn and a fearful frown on her face.
“Good morning,” she said with a curtsy. And when she straightened up, she didn’t waste any time. “The ship that sailed yesterday for the training island wrecked.”
Cardinal stepped up beside her, looking first to the king, then to Laina in Jewel’s body. “The crew did not survive, but those of importance did.”
“Like who?” Panos’s words came up, strong and demanding. Cardinal looked to him once, disgust that only could be there if they knew each other on his face before he looked once more to the king and “Jewel”.
“Sarah and the Prince, the General and his daughter, and Sarah’s friend and the other one. Oh, and the demon.” Felicity knew who the ‘other one’ was, and if the ship wreck wasn’t a dire situation she would have chuckled at how he addressed Adisa. “At the time I left there was a barrier around the island, but everyone except for General and his child seemed all right.” With how he kept looking at Damien and “Jewel”, it was like he knew of what happened the night before. That Jewel wasn’t who she was and neither was Laina.
Felicity couldn’t help but wonder why he wasn’t freaking out that Jewel looked like his former king’s witch lover. But then again, she wouldn’t have put past that Cardinal has been in the Isles long before Jewel made her arrival to help with the queen.

The man's smile faded while looking at tempest, he would walk out of the hut her following. So she knew he had felt something change on the island as she had. The tribe seemed to be cheering the shamen woman who had claimed that she would lift the spell from the island. Tempest noticed her face being pale meaning she had nothing to do with what happened. When the people cheering noticed they would stand still listening before panic to set in.
Tempest slowly returned to the hut from which she and the man had come out of. She had hoped for her father to be awake now but still, he laid in the crystal that had formed around him. She would gently run her fingers across it, she found it very odd that it was cold to the touch. It gave her a chill that reminded her of the nothingness in her dream state back under the castle. She wondered if this was biological or magical. She felt that need to explore more than just magic, she had an interest in healing spells since before being awoken.
"Father, when will you wake?"
She whispered to the cold crystal gently petting it as if it might help the process along, but more for her comfort of having something to do other then stand there. The man walked into the hut standing still at the entrance.
"Did..did you do this?"
Tempest did not respond to him at the moment, she instead ignored his question and let him stew. The man walked over to her grabbing her by the arm when she whipped around his comment died on his lips.
" Well, If I did touching me might not be a bright idea."
He would slowly let go of her arm his face turning pale. She would turn around and smile, her knowing full well she did not indeed release the island from its spell.
~*~
Anya pushed the girl with her shoe waking her up slowly," Rise so we can head out." The women seemed to add sticks of magic to the belt that they had used. The woman sat up wondering how long she had been out. Adisa would come to her level and stare at her." You so much as think of helping anyone but us. I will boil you alive in oil." She said before standing, holding her hand out to the woman she would assist her to her feet. The three of them would move slowly into the brush towards the direction of the retreat of where the witches had been.
The woman would motion in a direction as if telling them that was the way to go. They would stop and look between each other before following the woman. She had crouched low they would do the same moving slowly to be more silent on their journey. They would stop when she did, they both heard voices ahead. The woman crouched lower motioning to two men with spears moving along a barely noticeable path. Adisa assumed it was a patrol out looking for the woman. They would remain there, for now, to see if they returned or another may pass.
~*~
Alister un-clipped a button from his jacket and began to dust himself off a little as he listened to Sarah. "The barrier that kept the witches on the island. "He chuckled straightening his jacket by pulling it forward and buttoning it. He would smooth it down. " Ah, most likely the natives drug away people that were nearby. Though when being thrown from the ship a far bit from shore you tend to end up on different parts of the island. We did not crash into the shore but the rocks there." He motioned to the scattered cragged rocks. " Then part of the ship that had busted a part was tossed by the wave sending it there." He motioned to the wreckage. " Seeing her dismiss it all together had him smiling." Yes, we should." his smile had an evil look to it for a brief moment. He watched her gather his things he had focused on her instead of Julian who was slowly recovering from drinking powerful blood that was used in most potions if one could get a hold of it.
Julian adjust his shoulders as if trying to work out some sore muscles when he tried to move Alister stepped before him looking him dead in the eye. Alister's eyes shifted to goat eyes as he put his hand on Julian's shoulder." You, little maggot have tasted something you shouldn't have. A price will be paid by you giving me your soul to keep silent. Or the blood my Master will extract from you." He said tightening his hand on his shoulder to empathize with his point. Julian stared at him before shoving his hand away." I am not an Idiot." This conversation was done in an almost silent whisper.
Julian would move past them heading for the ship, Alister would smile watching him go." We should head that way and follow inland straight line shot to the camp of the witches." He said as if he knew where they were. He bowed indicating she should go first being a lady and him only a servant.
~*~
'Jewel' listened to the both of them Felicity squawk out her anger at him for getting in the way. She smiled hearing the King clear his throat to cover a laugh. She would close the book and let out a sigh handing it to her husband. She took in a deep breathe it turning into a yawn so deep she felt she might pass outstanding there. The King would right her before leading her to a day couch, she would not protest and sit down. She did try to say something when he covered her with a fur, but the warmth quieted her into closing her eyes quickly.
Damien would smile gently brush her hair back, but he would pull away quickly remembering the body was not hers and being so familiar with it was not kosher. " I see. I will arrange another ship to sail out to gather the bodies of the fallen to be buried or burned. Depending upon one's believes." He said. But he did not seem worried about the others." I am sure they will find a way off the island. If not then Alister should return to inform us of what action should be taken. He is a messenger after all among other things." He said to Cardinal, he had noticed the way he eyed 'Jewel' and himself he gently gripped his shoulder, it tightened on him." I expect discretion. " Was all he said letting go to walk over to Felicity touching her shoulder gently." Everything will be fine. Calm your self. " He knew this would be better lesson then flitting about a vacation spot where most likely they would have more squabbles and romances then actual training. His son would perish or rise to the occasion.

Sarah didn’t care the hows of everyone being split, but did listen to Alister’s explanation as she pulled out the last of her cheese and her water flask. Making a noncommittal noise, she bit into the cheese, then hefted her pack onto her back. She still felt like she could pass out, but the urge wasn’t so strong. And it wasn’t so bad the more she focused on the connection to Crevan. It was still weak.
Was he okay?
It’s a good thing they were going to look. She wasn’t sure how long she had been out, and it wasn’t like they took their time in getting ready to head out. But she felt guilty. Sarah was supposed to be Crevan’s Scion, and she couldn’t even tell if he was okay or not. The only reason why she knew he was alive was by the connection she shared. Then again, Alister seemed to know everyone’s whereabouts. He could lead the way and even tell her if Crevan was okay.
And what about her best friend? Was she by herself? Or with Tempest or Adisa? She’d almost rather have Anya by herself than draw the short stick and deal with Adisa, but she figured that two is better than one on such unfamiliar territory. Sarah just hoped that Anya was safe too.
She nodded distractedly at Alister as she polished off her cheese. And after two large swigs of water later, she shook her head and tsked as she started walking. “You know that you don’t have to bow to me, Alister.” She still held the leafs of paper with the spells in her hand, so she did a little bit of maneuvering to get the water flask under her arm and unrolled the now-slightly-crinkled papers and sifted through the spells one more time.
“Do you know what we can expect of the natives, Alister?”
*** “Laina” paid no mind as Damien took care of his wife. While it was still disconcerting to see herself without a mirror, she was happy that Damien and Laina loved each other. Call her a romantic but that’s just how she felt.
Of all things to say or do, Cardinal wasn’t expecting the king to be dismissive. Something like this wasn’t according to plan; usually a king would be at the very least upset. Either King Damien was a master card player in his spare time or he genuinely wasn’t concerned. Even his mannerisms said that, with how he didn’t say anything right away until “Jewel” was put to rest. Cardinal’s face was grim. A rare sight to see since he was always very jovial. It wasn’t that he was angry of Damien’s inaction, but if he had known that Damien’s response was this he would have stayed where he could watch over Sarah and Anya.
“Expectation is a tricky thing, Your Majesty,” Cardinal replied lightly, ignoring the tightening on his shoulder. When Damien let go, he bowed his head slightly. “But you do not have to worry about me.”
Felicity shook her head at her companion, exasperated and slightly embarrassed. Sparks flew from her fingertips, a telltale sign that she was upset, while she nodded at the king’s words to her. “You’ll have to excuse Cardinal,” she said as an aside. “He can be very dramatic at times.”
“I would take offense, but it’s true,” Cardinal leaned against Felicity and put his hand against his forehead while clutching his chest with the other. “But what good is a Puck without his theatrics?” Then he stood abruptly, causing Felicity to stumble and “Laina” to laugh. “Though I would like to take the time to point out that I did not see any ships at the docks while coming in.”
Ludin watched this exchange with no interest other than wondering what the faerie’s problem was with him. In fact, he wasn’t quite sure why Felicity didn’t like him either except the fact that he was a demon. Maybe it was because of some deep-set prejudice. He had to assume that was it because he has not seen a witch or a faerie in a very long time.
Though when Cardinal said, “Though I am sure that Mr. My-Father-Is-the-Destroyer-of-Worlds could summon us a ferry to an’ fro,” he stood up straight and took a menacing step forward.
“I’m not sure where you have found that information, but I’ll have you know that you are mistaken.”
“On the contrary, dear sir,” Cardinal retorted, clicking his heels together and grinning. “Fae can’t lie.”
“Knock it off,” ‘Laina’ cut in before Ludin could lunge. “This isn’t the time to fuss.”
“Jewel is right,” Felicity agreed. “Cardinal, stop picking fights.”
Cardinal and Ludin still had their eyes locked onto each other, ice blue meeting emerald green in a cold stare down. It wasn’t until “Laina” reaches out to rest her hand on Ludin’s forearm that the arch demon looked away.
“Lets hope that they make it back safely. We don’t know when the demon will wake up and Queen Laina’s ... Scion is going to come knocking.”

The man who looked at her in horror slowly moved from the hut leaving the General of the Royal Vampires and his daughter alone, which made Tempest at ease. She, daughter of Crevan, would be glad when this was all over. For now, she waited for him to return from his crystallized tomb. Feeling that her father seemed weaker then their bloodline would allow being general had her wondering. Why?
It was something she could not but ask her self, from the short history she was taught this man was different. So different that he seemed another man, she had imagined that Crevan would still hold the hatred of his betrayal long past the days of now. A thought came to her but she dismissed it quickly, not that she did not like Sarah but she doubted the youthfulness of her would of docile such a man. She no longer heard anyone outside, she ventured towards the flap on the hut from her father. She saw a smaller group huddled far from the hut. Noticing the man was talking in hushed whispers of her she dipped back inside. As she turned she saw the crystal crack all over shattering into little crystals that turned red like the flowing blood. Crevan would sit up his breaths coming out in clouds as the room seemed to reach sub-temperatures. He slid off the table standing still for a moment, " Sarah.." He looked to Tempest as if she wasn't even there. All he was seeing was blood being drawn by another.
~*~
Adisa looked about watching as the ones that had gone out now were return quickly as if something had happened that scared them. She waited a few moments more, when Anya moved from her she would stand walking in the green of the jungle. " Let us make haste." She said, Anya, looking back at the girl who shrugged knowing she was asking as to why they looked scared. She would follow them slowly staying out of sight not leaving their side as they sneak into the village towards the outlying huts.
~*~
Alister looked at Sarah as she mentioned not having to bow to her," I bow to all royals. Even foreigners." His eyes watched her as he walked a few paces behind her before taking a long stride to catch up with her. " But as you wish." He watched the back of the Prince as he marched ahead of them." I am sure all those that are of importance will be safe. I would flit ahead and check but I must protect you is my duty called on by your Lord. " He shrugged his shoulders slightly as he folded his arms behind him."
He frowned a little when she asked of the natives he would chuckle," You, I doubt they would try and kill you. Though the prince, on the other hand, they would kill and use for parts in magical spells and potions. "He sighed as they moved into the underbrush of the canopy," Any vampire. Though the witches here would be met with hostility for they serve vampires. It sounds complicated when it is very simple. A group of people became tired of being under someone. They rose and were sent here as punishment which they took and made into something that they could use as a defense. " He gestured as he spoke of it. " You might be the only one they won't hurt....well until they see your mark." He pointed to Crevan's mark. " You have broken the blood bond temporarily though... so its up in the air on what they will truly do." He said moving past her towards the deeper part of the forest.
~*~
Damian listened to the two he would have laughed at Cardinals display if he had not been deep in thought. Both his arms would go behind his back as he hunched his shoulders for a moment before he became regal again in the straight posture. "Hm, that is odd. Usually, there are at least two ships in our docks on a slow day." He mumbled as he went about pacing the room again. "I will have to send for one. You are welcome to ride along again. "He would look to Cardinal for a moment." Or fly." When he walked he made no sound. " Felicity I need you on the ship I will call for. Be careful of the ocean near the islands. They seem to disappear and reappear you could sail for days or it is merely a night." He said as he stopped walking. He stood over a book he would pick up." There will be a woman you most likely will meet when you go to the docks, she has golden hair wears a cloak about her shoulders. Might be followed by a seductive looking witch. " Her name is Larissa Aury Kaur and goes by Seductress. She may be trying to find a way to the island for her purposes which I have no idea what they may be." He had an idea that it was for tempest, but other than that he was clueless.
The king had noticed that Cardinal and Ludin seemed at war with each other, it was not his business to push into their affair as long as it did not affect those under his charge. He kept himself seeming to not care for the situation, his personal feelings on any matter of subject would be watched. HIm Remaining stoic was just par for the course.

Sarah sometimes wondered about the eccentric-ness of Alister. The things he’s said and his mannerisms have amused her at times and downright confused her at others. She’s come to accept and expect what he does and says, though, and just write it off as he was a demon. Like how he said that “danger follows her and adventures await her.” Was this what he was talking about? Anyway, she was used to it. That didn’t mean she wouldn’t be caught off guard every once in a while.
Sarah’s lips pressed together in a thin line, her brows furrowing when Alister spoke of being charged to watch over her, and before that of him going ahead if he hadn’t been. “Is there any way to get there faster?” She asked, knowing that asking him to just scout ahead would prove to be futile. Besides, the quicker everyone could get together the bigger the chances of survival and the sooner they could get off this island. At this point she was also concerned about Adisa. (She wasn’t about to admit that to anyone though.)
The young witch didn’t waste any time in following Alister, but she was always watching where she was going, careful to avoid any fallen branches so as not to trip or wayward animals so she didn’t kick them. Her pack swayed with every other step she took. She must have looked quite a sight, looking back on this day. Blonde hair a mess and more than likely paler than usual due to the recent blood loss. Her clothes looked like she had slept in them, not to mention the tear at her shoulder. But she had bigger fish to fry. “Why would they want to do that? I mean, I could see why they would want to hurt everyone. But … harvest them for parts?” Then she had another thought. “But why would they hurt Anya and Adisa and not me? We’re all Scions for the royal family, and I wouldn’t hesitate to do anything in my power to help them.”
When Alister pointed at Crevan’s mark, Sarah brushed her fingers over it. To be honest, she hadn’t given it much thought. Whereas she played and toyed with Crevan’s signet ring when he first gave it to her and rubbed at the crest when she had it around her neck, she didn’t think much of the mark. It wasn’t because she thought any less of it, no. In fact she found herself secretly proud of it. She remembered Anya saying that a mark was a rather intimate thing between Scion and Master. But Sarah didn’t feel the need to secret it away. It was more like she found it to be more of … something that was a no brainer to be on her body. Like her freckles. Or her dragon skin or her ears.
But she wasn’t proud of those … not exactly.
“What do you mean I’ve broken the bond?” Sarah asked rather forcefully after a few long moments of sinking in what he said. Some might even say she demanded it. Something completely out of character for her, she knew. She closed her mouth with a soft click so that she couldn’t say anything else in that tone, but if one looked at her in the eyes, they could see something happening. Her pupils were starting to elongate into reptilian slits, the gold irises turning darker and darker. It wouldn’t be until a few hours from now that they would be the eyes that belonged to the dragons of the Ruthless Clan, but it was clear that her human case was starting to crack.
“It can get fixed, right?”
***
Felicity nodded her head, curtsying as she did. Her fingers gripped the fold of her dress tightly, a myriad of emotions flooding through her in a whirlwind of chaos. Relief at Damien’s words of her being on the ship (it wasn’t like she wouldn’t go if he told her no. That’s her daughter after all); confidence in being on the ship due to her relationship with the water element; embarrassment at Cardinal’s theatrics and desire to pick fights with the demon that came with Jewel; and worry because of how Sarah was going to get off the island. She wondered what Foster would do if she were in her shoes. Agree with Damien’s assessment or told him to fuck off and whisk Sarah off the island. Felicity couldn’t possibly do the latter. After all, you don’t bite the hand that fed you, and in essence Felicity was hiding behind the royals’ proverbial skirts from the fae.
But that didn’t mean Felicity could stomach just letting everybody make it out of the island by themselves. At least, without having indigestion. Damien’s reason was sound, and it wasn’t like Felicity let Sarah go unprepared. If Sarah was to be the most powerful witch since Aideen, she should be able to do this just fine on her own. Regardless of her feelings for the Prince or Crevan or whoever.
“I’m confident that we won’t get lost. I’m used to things not being how they seem.”
“Aye,” Cardinal agreed, taking on an Irish accent solely just to fuck with Felicity. “All you hafta do is try to trick it right back – Oonf.”
Felicity brought her elbow down from where it met Cardinal’s ribs, a look of false innocence on her face as she smoothed out her skirt. “Not my first plan of action, but we ought to make it to the island within a fair amount of time.”
The look of pure death Cardinal gave Felicity was lost on her as he rubbed his ribs. “I will fly on ahead,” Cardinal replied to Damien’s offer. See with a bird’s eye view of what is transpiring.”
When Damien talked of the blond-haired woman and the Seductress, Felicity furrowed her brows slightly. “Would you like for them to come with me?”
“Us.” Cardinal piped in.
“You said you were flying, so be quiet.” To the king, she said, “Should I be concerned? Or are they friends that can be trusted?”

General Crevan stood towering over his daughter as his shoulders would rise and fall slowly, taking deep breaths standing still. His eyes seemed hollow behind the blazing red, a flash he zipped past his daughter, hair tugged by the invisible wind. She opened the doorway in time to see a random witch in paled by a sword. Her father's screaming sounded like a animals growl. The blood dripping from the impaled man dropped into his mouth, soon the man was thrown.
He seemed to disappear between each person that stood in his way left them dead. Each of them only to drink spots of their blood. Cleaving one man in two when his sword thrust down. His roar blanketed the forest sending birds a flight. The witches by now had scattered away from him into the forest. His face seemed to move like his nose was scenting the air for a specific person. Tempest would come out of the hut but not too close to him.
~*~*~
Adisa shuttered at the sound of the roar. Seeing those that had rushed in the direction of the village were not pouring into the forest again. She motioned for them to move to distance themselves from the group of running witches. No more had they moved from the space had one became impaled with a sword. The blood-covered weapon had the insignia of the General. All three seemed to be in horror watching him retrieve the sword.
The elven witch was about to make a sound as Anya covered her mouth, she would motion with her finger to be silent. As he passed slowly from witch to witch. When he stopped and looked in their direction they would plaster themselves to the ground.
~*~*~
Alister would listen to ask questions his eyes scanning the trees as they walked among them, he made sure they remained a bit behind and aside from the prince as they did so. " Vampires like elves or pixies contain some things that go good for magic plain and simple. " He said with a sigh, before looking briefly at her." Dragons too thought they would not harm one usually who set them free of the island. "
His pace slowed as he gently held out a hand in front of her to stop her. When she first spoke in the tone he held a finger to hush her, but when she spoke again he looked down at her. " Yes, that is up to the lord. He can fix it. But only if he wants to." His frowned face slowly turned into a smile that looked evil as his goat eyes flashed briefly.
~*~*~
Damien watched the two get into an angsty position on who was doing what. " Well, I suggest taking the blonde. And if you do the seductress will go with her." He moved his eyes away from them to 'Jewel' He frowned then turned back to them. " I would not trust her fully though." He said as he picked up along stem cigar lighting it. he would turn his back as he went to searching books once more. His voice would come out in a whisper." My mother can be .... eccentric. "
Several books on the shelf would slowly float from the shelves setting on the desk behind him. He kept searching the titles looking tired a filter of red filmed into his eyes. " You should hurry if you wish to find a ship to ensure your way." He said barely above a whisper. His body would seem to shiver as the redder that seeped into his eyes. His fangs seemed to grow in his mouth. His body steadied but his right hand would start to shake till he balled it into a fist the books dropping from the sky. " Yes, you should hurry." Was all he said.

Her body stopped after she bumped into Alister’s hand, the apparent universal sign to stop. But her mind and mouth didn’t quite get the memo.
She didn’t respond after his answer of harvesting body parts. Just ... filed that little bit of information for later digestion. The planet Drethinov wasn’t one of sunshine and rainbows, she knew, but it was rather unnerving to hear that.
Earth wasn’t much better, she thought to herself. Being victim of a human trafficking ring, she had seen arguably the worst the world she grew up in had to offer. And she wasn’t sure if there wasn’t harvesting of living things for magical properties either. There was a such thing as shifters, so why not that too? The girl filed away this bit of information of her new home, yes. But maybe Drethinov and Earth were cut from the same cloth.
Besides that, her stomach had twisted in intricate knots. She should have known that giving the Prince blood would have repercussions. Sarah had lived in the Isles long enough; she was sure that someone told her down the line that giving her blood willingly to someone that wasn’t her master would inevitably break the bond they had. Yet, she hadn’t listened. Alister’s words of “if he wants to” had dashed the faint hope she had when he started out with “yes, it could be fixed”.
Growing up, Sarah never felt like she “fit in”, always standing out like a weed amongst a bed of roses. Her grades were average, any hobbies she picked up she quickly dropped because she didn’t feel like she had talent, and making friends was hard to come by. Here, however, she had friends. She did well in her studies. More importantly, she had a place.
And that place was beside the General as his Scion.
Anxiety creeped down her back with icy tendrils, causing her breath to go shallow. What would happen if he didn’t want to fix it? Would he look at her differently? Treat her differently? What-
The roar startled her mind into silence, leaving her ears ringing and breathless. A quick glance up at Alister answered the question before she even thought to ask. That was her master, undoubtedly. Has she ever experienced that roar before? No. There was a sense of knowing, deep in the pit of her gut. That animalistic sound came from a familiar source. She wasn’t sure if “angry” was the right word to describe it.
Her feet carried her toward the sound as if they moved independently from her mind. Adrenaline pumped through her veins, causing her to go faster than she normally would have gone. Fear washed over her like ice-water, and the primal part of her screamed to turn around and run the opposite direction. She stayed her course, however, knowing that Anya and Adisa were out there too.
What do you think will happen? the logical part of her argued in favor of running away. Everything will be A-okay when he sees you?
Did she think that? She wasn’t sure. It was like a compulsion though. Something she had to do.
She didn’t know how long she ran, but she stopped when she glimpsed him a ways off. Even from such a large distance away, he was terrifying. Her fear spiked, paralyzing her and undoubtedly giving her location away. She registered the scent of blood, causing her knotted stomach to curdle like milk. She wanted to vomit, but she didn’t dare. Instead, as she stood stalk-still, she watched him move like he was looking for something.
She had to move.
As quietly and quickly she could she took off her pack, then opened it to pull her sheathed stiletto out. Her fingers shook slightly, and she held her breath knowing that if she let it go her breathing would be raggedy.
She didn’t know that Anya and Adisa were where they were, but she knew that they were in this forest too. She wished she had come across them first to tell them where Julian and Alister were (if they hadn’t followed her). Hopefully they - and Tempest - were safe somewhere.
Leaving her pack at her feet, she unsheathed her stiletto and swiped the sharp blade across the meaty part under her thumb. If he looked her way, she would start running she thought the beach was in.
***
Felicity made quick work of gathering things for her voyage. Then with her own satchel in hand she made her way to the docks.
The single ship docked must be the one the king sent for, she mused to herself, picking up her pace. As she walked to it, she scoured the sky for a red bird. Since gathering her things and heading to the docks, she figured Cardinal was long gone. And he was, she figured, because she didn’t even see a faint fluttering in the horizon.
Nodding once to herself, she picked up her pace.

Julian saw her run past him and he reached out to grab her but he felt Alister's hand on his arm before he brought up behind his back before closing his hand over the young prince's mouth." You will allow this to play out. " His smile still seemed devilish before he released him and followed slowly. The Prince fingernails dug into the palm of his hands their sharpness drawing blood before he threw it on the floor speaking a few words before breaking a tab of Adisa's blood and poured it over his, it would activate something and remain there before he followed Alister. For some reason, he felt dread that was not his own.
Anya held on to the elf's mouth as they all laid on the ground in fear, Adisa kept her eyes towards him from under the underbrush. Her breath was painfully slow that her chest felt like it might bust. She had blinked for a second and where he had been was empty, the fear rose her heartbeat which she knew was going to get them killed. She knew he could smell them let alone hear the beating of the organ in her chest. Tempest had reached the area her father was in, she noticed him standing near the bushes as if he was scenting the area with his mouth open slightly.
She watched him return after a moment to the center of the small clearing it was almost he could not see or smell her. She seemed invisible to him and she did not understand why. When he stopped for a moment she frowned as if he had caught the scent he was looking for in the distant area. He sniffed the air with his mouth open once more before a low hiss escaped his mouth it slowly turning into a growl, his body turned tense instance for a moment. When he smelled the fresh blood he took off in the direction of it. Tempest followed in hot pursuit, she knew the smell of blood from the girl's constant nervous ticks. Her speeds matched her fathers before she overtook him. She was confused by him stopping and concealing himself as if he was...? Was he hunting Sarah?
She made her self unseen with her speed as she watched what might unfold, she was determined to stay a step ahead of him.

Damien waited for them to leave before he turned to look at 'Laina' for a long moment before he stepped from the array of books. He would stand at the edge of the bed." Tell me are you feeling any side effects of being someone else?" His eyes watched her carefully mindful of those left in the room with them.
His hands would move along the book slowly he was holding close to himself, the gold trim he traced seem to dust gold flecks from it as if he was tracing the magic itself. "Do you feel the hunger of my kind?" He questioned her. His wife hardly partook or kept anything down let alone the lifeblood of another. The book he held spoke about a body switch, but it was far different from the spell that Sarah had done. In his book it spoke of the two would slowly start to feel the effects that the host body had. Like the need to feed blood in Jewel's case being inside his wife's body.
This book told him that once the soul trapped in the host body reached a certain point of feeling the effects of the spell. Well, it would then become permanently sealed in the new body if it was not reversed. He was asking her questions to see if it was similar to the power spell Sarah did, if not he would not need to worry about switching them back quickly.
He would look to jewel's body where his life resided currently, she was still fast asleep. His worry was because she did not feel hungry of any sort. Yet she had eaten because of her husband's wishes, and it had only been food.

Helliana sat on a crate at the top of the hill from the bay and harbor. Her eyes scanned the seashore and horizon. After the throne had lost its demon the island's barriers had been dropping. The cloak of the sea was gone, anyone could see the island now. Friend or foe had but only to sail in its direction. Now shipments would be able to come on time as well. Finally seeing a ship moving slowly into the harbor she would stand up waving her hand before The Sudectress to follow. Helliana would briefly stop hearing then seeing the steady brisk walk of Felicity towards the harbor. Below her cloak, she would crush some herbs in her hand the magic coming to her other hand as she spoke an invoking word a Raven would appear. It was moments before the bird righted itself and flew to her shoulder. "Bring word to the demon that I have my eyes on him." She whispered and the Raven took off in flight.
She would stride ahead of the fae for the dock, the witch in tow reluctantly followed. The streets began to fog as the ship set into a dock. The fog seemed to be rolling off its deck and spreading out. The hull of the ship was ornamented in gold trim. A tall black-bearded man stepped off the ship. His head was bald and his beard had beads in it, he was cloaked in a manner that said he came from a dry hot climate. He had a curved dagger hanging from his belt which seemed the hilt and sheath was plated in gold and jewels. He would flip a coin to the DockMaster who would bite the coin before smiling at the rare metal.

Sarah couldn’t hear anything over her own breath - which was starting to get ragged - and the thoughts of Run fast! Don’t stop! repeating like a broken record. There was something within her that knew her master was chasing her. Every bit of her being vibrated with that knowledge. A quick glance behind her revealed only the forest, however. No sign of Crevan. Another quick glance around her confirmed the suspicion that he was concealing himself.
To say that she had a plan in the first place would be generous. But she had expected for him to mow her down. He was bigger, faster, and stronger than she was. Using herself as bait like she had, she didn’t expect to be standing for so long. Since she was, she was surprised that she found herself affronted. Was he ... playing with her?
Certainly not.
Who cares if he was or not? Running is the best option right now!
No matter how loud that voice was, her feet slowed to a stop, turning around to face the direction she came from, knowing the General was coming from that way too. Her right hand gripped the stiletto harder as her left balled into a fist, causing the blood from her fresh would to well and drip from her knuckles.
No. She wasn’t prey.
The spell she cast was one that had been drilled into her head from day one. One that was supposed to get rid of any illusion one had cast. For Sarah it had mixed results. It all depended whose will was stronger.
Lift the fog, remove the screen So that I may see the unseen.
Knowing, regardless of the results of the spell, that waiting for them was dangerous at best. She started moving again, not out of fear, but to keep as much space she could between her and Crevan.
Now that he was following her, and he couldn’t hurt anyone else, she had to think of a way to get herself out of this situation and her master back to normal.
***
Jewel has always had the desire to help people. Knowing from an early age how awful the feeling of helplessness was, she had gotten into medicine. Sometimes though, that desire to help flooded her sense of logic and landed her in predicaments like right now. In a body that wasn’t hers looking up at a king of a realm not on Earth with the only way to get back to normal was a witch that just so happened to be related to her in some distant way.
Jewel, in Queen Laina’s body, straighter in the foreign/familiar bed as she took stock of King Damien’s now-red gaze. “Side effects as in...?” “Laina” supplied. After he elaborated, she shook her head. “No, I don’t.”
“Yet,” Ludin said low, looking at her. When she looked at him, he continued. “You just woke up. Maybe you’ll feel it later.”
“Okay,” “Laina” conceded, then looked back at the king. “What will happen if the demon wakes up? I assume it is still in the Queen’s body.”
***
Felicity side-stepped subconsciously to let the two women past. It took her a few moments, but she wondered briefly if these were the same women Damien said to watch out for. She started to follow them when she noticed the fog coming from the lone ship.
She slowed her pace, wary. It was like something from a ghost story, how eerie that fog was. Despite her reservations, she walked closer to the ship and its - she assumed - captain.
Surely this wasn’t the ship the king called for?
“Good day,” she greeted, “are you the captain of the ship that was sent for?”

Crevan watched her start to run once more unaware she had caste something that was a moot point. He held no concealment or illusion. He gave chase once more his mouth open scenting the smells in the area she was retreating in.
The blood spot where the prince had laid something sprang out like needles for an attack on his uncle. Though something shielded the attack like a shield of ice briefly. That stopped him in his tracks to scent the air for the attack. Taking scent of whose blood it was, that had mingled with his mark set his eyes aflame with rage once more. He let out a roar and headed away from Sarah.
Alister chuckled his voice distorting in a demonic manner. "This is going to be splendid. " The air split above Alister and a Raven sat on his shoulder with a deep seething growl he broke the bird it turning into dark black smoke. Julian heard and saw his uncle making a beeline for him.
The prince did not hesitate to draw his sword, he had no clue where the ice shield came from for his brother. He had no idea that Tempest had cast it without noticing. It was like she had been briefly possessed and unaware, she was now not interfering as the prince needed no one to defend him other than his witch or mate. She was neither.
~*~*~
Damien listened to Jewel while staring at his wife's' figure. When Ludin spoke to her he nodded his head." I agree with him. The first sign that something is off we must try and switch you back. " He moved around the bed towards her." No, the demon would have been returned to the throne upon his slumber. "
He was just taking a guess considering he was usually confined there. " If he wakes he can only enter her body once again if you touch the throne. The deal was broken when you put him to sleep. Though I guess he could just take form since the deal was broken." He stopped tapping his chin while standing at the bedside." This could be far worse than thought." He mumbled to himself.
Jewels body hosting Laina shot up out of her sleep as if startled, He would turn startled by her sudden rise in worry that something may have happened. She looked around for a moment then smiled to reassure him that she was fine. She would move to go looking at the books again as if she had a dream that might help her find what she needed.
He remained by His wife's figure staring at her with the red eyes of hunger. "This changing you back will be harder without Sarah I fear." He said his mouth open slightly as if in thought. Laina in Jewel's body turned to look at her husband." Stop that." Was all she said. His eyes seemed to lose some of its redness. He would smile and close his mouth.
~*~
Helliana would move aside as Felicity came to speak with the captain, He would tower above her with a smile that bespoke grace." Yes, I was summoned to charter to the island no one speaks of. " He said before looking her over." You? Do you have your ticket?" Helliana at this point pulled three tickets from her cloak. Though she did not speak or hand them to anyone. The seductress became very impatient for a moment but from a glance stifled her attitude. Helliana was not about to interrupt their conversation to progress their way faster.
The ship behind him was being unloaded and loaded with goods, some seemed to be treasure chests of gold for goods needed on a ship for long trips. Though the shipmates were different, they did not look like humans or vampires. One looked like a large green tusk toothed being, it wore something fashioned out of leather and other materials.

Crap.
Crap, crap, crap.
That didn’t do anything. Sarah searched the forest, the inside of her cheek between her teeth. There was no sign of her master. And with her not feeling any other magic beside her own, she knew that Crevan wasn’t using any.
Why would today be an exception when he’s never used magic at all?
Dumb. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
He had to be going faster than she could see.
She grimaced as a shooting pain went down her skull. It felt like her cranium was going to crack in two. She had to fight the urge to vomit. Suddenly, she wasn’t running anymore. A lump formed in her throat, boulder-like. Colors burst like fireworks behind her eyelids; muscles spasming that left her wondering later why she didn’t fall to the floor. Her unoccupied hand cradled her head; she was half-tempted to see if there was a visible fissure running down her forehead.
It only took moments to recover, standing up straight with her breath heaving. As quickly as the pain came, it receded, leaving her to look around wildly and wonder why she wasn’t … why Crevan hadn’t captured her yet.
Then she saw them, Crevan and Julian facing off with Tempest there too. A quick perusal of the environment around them confirmed the magic that had been cast by the broken ice and needles a small distance away from them.
“No,” she whispered to herself, looking from her master to the prince to Tempest, then back again. It was then she fully realized the reason why Crevan was like this. That this was her fault. And she had to make it right.
There was a good distance between her and the vampires, and she was a terribly slow runner compared to the three. Her mind, no longer clouded with thoughts of survival, worked quickly to come up with a plan. She had to get between them. Had to buy herself some time.
Time…
With the right choice of words, coupled with intention...
“Seconds, minutes, hours, hearken before this goes sour Slow their movements, or make mine fast, Before this moment comes to pass.” The spell fell out of her in a rush, but there was an immediate effect. Her magic buzzed against her skin, raising her skin in goosebumps. Adrenaline pumped through her veins once more, and she ran. Faster than she normally could, actually; she felt the wind nip at her face. In a mere three seconds, she made it between the two male vampires before one could strike each other, facing her master.
“Master!” she yelled, eyes wide as she looked up at him. Her left hand, still bloody, went to his chest as if that alone could stop him.
But she knew better.
***
“Laina” nodded, relieved that she didn’t have to worry about the demon. “Let’s hope that doesn’t happen,” she replied dryly to his comment of the demon taking form, moving to get out of the bed. The body still ached, but it didn’t hurt like it did last night. It was more like an afterthought, she mused. Definitely being in Laina’s body had helped it.
Ludin moved out of the way so that Jewel-in-Laina’s-body didn’t have to bump into either him or Damien. She was focused on moving so she didn’t expect to see Laina-in-Jewel’s- body to move so suddenly. But Jewel was glad to see that Laina, even in Jewel’s body, was feeling a lot better. Jewel couldn’t help but smile briefly.
Her being here wasn’t a waste of time after all, she thought to herself. Even if she did want her body back.
“Queen Laina, you don’t have an urge to shift, do you?” Jewel asked, standing up and crossing “her” arms across her chest.
“No other being makin its presence to you?” Ludin contributed, standing up as well behind “Laina”.
***
The grace in his smile eased the wariness Felicity had harboring, and it was hard not to smile in return. It was easy to tower above Felicity; her small stature even helped Sarah’s average frame to do that. Height did not intimidate Felicity.
Felicity furrowed her brow and opened her mouth to say that she didn’t know she had to have a ticket, but before she could utter a word she saw the woman that brushed passed her before come up brandishing three. So it seemed her gut was right.
She ended up smiling then, a small one filled with relief as she looked back up at the captain. “It seems that we do,” she replied, filling the words with as much grace as he did with his smile. The vibe he emitted was that of a man who had no difficulty being in charge. More importantly, she could see him taking the wheel of a ship as large and imposing this with ease. If she was a better, she would dare say that he grew up at sea. Her family had a belief that the Elements took a liking to certain people, claiming those as their own. With that vibe, she was reminded of her brother, who couldn’t keep out of the water since he was a tyke. Come to find out he was what she would call Graced.
