( Voss) "Good news, Grandma!" The old woman looked up at her great-great-granddaughter. Well, she was blind, so when Hannah walked across the yard of the cottage to Aine, the old woman moved her face in the general direction of the voice. "You've found her?" Even if she was a few centuries old, her voice sounded as hopeful as a youth's. "Wait, Grandma." Hannah sat down on the edge of the porch, by Aine's feet. Immediately a gnarled hand sought out her hair, playing with the golden strands. "You didn't let me finish my status update." "Spit it out, then, child," Aine murmured impatiently, leaning forward slowly. It was hard to distinguish whether it was her rocking chair or bones that were creaking. "I would say that I do not have all day, but these sentries always make sure that I do." Hannah took a glance around, wary that there could be something else lurking in the shadows among the Faerie men and women keeping guard over the sister of King Oberon's lost love. She didn't trust these men to keep Aine safe from the demons that ran with Aiolos. Though she didn't see anything among the trees. The sentries must have been punished for letting their Glamour slip again. "I've found her adoptive parents." "And what about her?" Aine prompted after a few tense moments. "She's missing." "Missing!" Frail arms were cast into the air, her distress causing small sparks to fly from her fingertips. "How is she missing?" "She was last seen walking home from the local school seven months or so ago," Hannah replied quickly, reaching up to grab her grandmother's hands and set them down on her lap. I've got a picture and a few keepsakes from the guardians. I'll try searching for her. Get Kheelan on her tail with those dogs of his. We're so close, Grandma." Hope lit her eyes up, a bright smile on her face. "I can feel it." "If only her mother didn't lock her powers away. We can find her quickly then. Who knows where she's at." * Yes, a farmer did help them get to town quickly. Sarah still held onto her newfound friend's hand, trying to push back this unsettling feeling in her chest that maybe they shouldn't be exploring the town. The town itself helped her brain from letting her anxious thoughts get the best of her. Just as soon as they finally hit the border line her eyes grew wide with wonder. It was easy to forget that she'd be … meeting her new master soon. That she was now a slave and (apparently always been) a witch. Which she highly doubted that. She would have levitated SOMETHING by now, perhaps. Anya and Sarah passed by a fruit stand. It caused her to feel a pang in her chest – homesickness. Every Saturday morning she and her mother went to the farmer's market to get garden goods; her mother never trusted the "hormone-infested" things at the grocery store. It caused her to look away sadly. Because of that something else caught her eye. "Is that a clothing store?"

Anya walked her from the outer walls into the large gates, traveling down the street past guards and citizens shopping among the fruit stands and many stalls of random wares. Stopping when she asked a question Anya would around seeing the corner store further down she would nod" Yes, it holds Fabric along with pre made dresses. I shop there often, Master always likes the dresses Falicia makes.
He says it accents my eyes and goes well with my skin. Well he says it more elegantly then that " She whispered the last part softly before she would smile." Why do you want to go in?" She would not mind going to see if there was anything new in fabric and pre made dresses. Falicia had been giving her lessons in making dresses. She was not as good yet as her but eventually she felt she would get there.
She was not ready for them to go to the campground of the military where she knew Craven would be. She hated talking to him alone in general, he was not really cruel to her. It was just he way he looked at her some times, like she was something that was evil. He hated magic with every fiber of his being, he had fallen in love with a woman who had been a witch. His father had seen to her death, he had told him slaves were not meant to muddle with their blood. He hated magic for the sheer fact that it was what he thought was the reason she had been killed. He had not known it was merely to control his son and keep him in the military.
The shop had a thimble and needle as its sign made of metal hanging on the outside. The shops name was Jezabel, the lights were not done by electricity it was a mixture of Oil lamps and odd crystals that seemed to be fueled by magic. A few children outside the establishment where playing with something wrapped in animal hide using it like a kick ball kicking it back and forth. Most of them had silver eyes except for a few that had bright colored eyes, Vampires and humans playing together each giggling as they went as a woman shooed them from the front of the store.
Her Victorian dress tight in all the right places, " Shoo go on now play further down the street and out of the way of the carriages. " The woman would wave to Anya she noticed waving back. The City was large only top of the castle could be seen from where they stood. Every thing seemed to be from the dark ages, like nothing from the twentieth century was present. No cell phone towers, no cars, not even modern street lights. It was something to get used to.

Sarah took a glance over toward Anya as she spoke of the man they were with earlier. If she hadn't have met him personally she would have believed that Damien was a true gentleman. But she did meet him. And he was a total … word she felt very uncomfortable even thinking.
She was careful not to speak illy of the man. It was bad enough that she wasn't very confident about her features. What if she had to suffer torture and had to look at scars? The thought made her cringe. And then smile. "I see you wearing silver. To go with your eyes," she replied, in a way agreeing with Damien. After a few seconds she added hastily, "Not that you wouldn't look good in anything else."
Gosh, was she a screw-up.
"But, um, yeah." She let her hand slip nonchalantly out of Anya's grasp. "I'd love to go in. Just to window-shop." She looked at the clothes she wore. The casual clothes that Voss's men distributed out to the stock. She would love to get new clothes, and hoped to get at least a few outfits from someone – she didn't have any money, but neither did she want to stay in these clothes forever.
Maybe she'd grow a bit more. After all she was only fifteen, going on sixteen. Hardly a person with a figure. At least, she'd like to believe so.
She waited for Anya to take the first step, and soon after that she followed behind. It wasn't just because Sarah liked to look at clothes that she wanted to go in, but she was stalling for time as well. In no way, shape, or form was she eager to meet her new master. No girl in her right mind would be eager to meet someone that was to be over them.
Maybe this – from getting kidnapped all the way down the timeline to here – was just a long, drawn out dream because she was in some sort of coma. But then again, that one backhand she acquired from Xavier felt pretty real.
As she walked across the street the girl did notice that nothing from the twentieth century on jumped out at her. The clothes. The vehicles. No one had phones out as they hustled about. Indeed, she would most definitely have to get used to this. Though that's the least of my worries, Sarah thought, looking back down at the ground as she rubbed gently at her freckled cheek.

Anya giggled at her compliment but only frowned when she felt she had insulted her," I am sure your Master will buy you many things. And dear Sarah you must stop putting your self down like that. " She said softly letting the girl slip from her hand, she would walk up towards the shop going up inside. " Jezabel?" she called to the woman that had waved to her as they walked up into the shop.
The woman would smile " Yes love?" She said softly the woman had no odd colored eyes, she was normal human. Or at least she looked to be so. " My friend wants to see your many dresses. " Jezabel would smile looking over Sarah. " Oh such a lovely one " She would come up as if going to asses her. She would gently run her fingers along her hair looking at it. " Such beautiful strands of hair." She would smile brightly before walking around her slowly. " I have just the thing for you little one" Anya seemed excited to see what dress she was going to bring Sarah.
Jezabel walked into the back of her store quickly the sound of her boots quick and barely a sound. The woman would bring out a royal blue with dark blue all most black trim along the seems. The Corset ties were black with seemed clean tie area, " Now I think blue is your color with that beautiful hair of yours. If you pin it up after curling it you would make a beautiful young lady. " She said softly with a smile. Anya would clap her hands quickly as if she liked the idea."Set to my tab, when i come in next time I will pay it off along with my other fitting. " Jezabel would nod her head. " You can try it on now or take it with you if you like. "
The sound of the children playing out side halted upon the city guard coming through, the patrol had shooed off the children allowing a carriage to go through towards the Military district.

Sarah merely thought of how she was broke and about her being a screw-up. Was Anya a mind reader? If so, she felt embarrassed with what she was thinking. She sounded like a charity case. Choosing to ignore the first comment, she looked away and replied to the second one. "I'm not putting myself down. I'm just thinking realistically, is all."
Afterwards she went inside hesitantly, but with a little bit of awe. The store was beautiful, filled with colorful fabrics. Her eyes went wide slightly, a smile on her face. She was too engrossed in her surroundings to notice the woman that walked up to her until she said something. Sarah's head tilted back slightly, dumbfounded at the compliment.
No one said anything nice to her (except her parents, who were obligated to) before. "Oh, I wouldn't…" she started, but trailed off and blushed.
In the time the woman was gone, Sarah was walking around a bit. She didn't go far, wondering where the owner went as she felt the fabric on a nearby shelf. But when she came back with the dress, Sarah's eyes widened. Never before had she seen something so beautiful in her life.
"I can't take that," she said in protest, rubbing a hand over the skirt. "I don't have any money." At the mention of a tab Sarah frowned at Anya. "You don't have to," she murmured to her. But it was already too late, it seemed. A small, inaudible sigh escaped her lips. "I'll pay you back somehow, Anya."
Then she looked back over to the woman holding the dress. She was unaware of what was happening outside. "I'd like to try it on first, please. Though I'll have to have help."

Jezabel would smile bow curtsying," Right this way" She motioned for them to go to the back, Anya was ushering Sarah really wanting to see what it would look like. " I think you will look marvelous in this corset dress" Jezabel nodded in agreement as she started to loosen the cord. " All right lets put the dress over your head " Her and Anya would hold the dress so she could slip into it. " If you need any repairs or another dress never forget to return to my store Jezabel. My name is Falicia. Though often enough i go by the stores name as well. It was my grandmothers name "
It seemed family line was important in the city. " I remember the first time I came for a lesson in stitching. Her and her friends were all doing a quilt, I started from there and worked into dresses. " A smile on the woman's face as they would lower it down over her helping her into it. " But the group of ladies would sit around the quilt and talk about their families. Weather it being they were proud of a soldier, or worried about a nurse in the field. The great war did much for us and hurt us in turn. I do not remember the war but the women who sat around talking about their families"
After they got her into the dress Falica would smile," I am thinking you need jewelry to go with it." Anya would giggle nodding " Yes all in due time. Her master surely will want to give her a gift "She was hoping he was in a good mood today, and that he would look past the fact that she had witches blood. They would begin to tighten up the corset," Do not forget to breath regularly as I tighten you up other wise if I tighten to tight you may pass out" Anya would giggle softly as they went to tightening her a little at a time." So who do you have the honor of serving Miss...?"She had not heard her name so Falica waited to hear it. Anya would allow Sarah to speak with her so that she would remember to breath.
Anya had a pair of shoes in mind as well a thigh high boot with a thick heal, she planed on at least getting her a set of boots before they left. She was not used to seeing any of the cloths she wore, and did not want her standing out more then she already did.

Anya and Falicia's excitement was contagious; even though Sarah believed herself to be less than average, she couldn't help but to giggle at the prospect of trying on a beautiful dress. She didn't even mind Anya's ushering. "You think?" Sarah asked Anya when she used the word 'marvelous', biting the inside of her cheek a little bit.
She was quick to strip down to her undergarments, yet too self-conscious to go any farther than that. Unless she knew absolutely that the dress didn't need her (as her father likes to call it) "over-the-shoulder boulder-holder" she would keep it on.
And, of course, her underwear wasn't going anywhere.
She raised her arms slightly so that the dress would slip on easier. "They're both pretty names," she replied to Falicia, smiling in suppressed anticipation (she couldn't wait to see what she looked like). But the smile turned into a curious frown at the mention of – "War?" She drew her brows together slightly, but then realized that war was a common thing. It was part of nature – it seemed even with vampires.
But Falicia didn't look like a vampire.
At the thought of getting a gift from the man that was to be her … master she bit down on her cheek a bit harder. Not enough to draw blood, but enough to make her stop … wondering how this man was. She had to be a realist for Pete's sake. There was a good chance that her master would be a total jerk. "Got it," she said, taking their instructions confidently. After all, she didn't want to pass out.
"My name's Sarah," she said after she took a breath in. She let it out as she would normally, then continued. "And I don't know. At least, I know who he is. The king's brother. I don't recall ever learning his name."

Anya would giggle " Of course!" She helped the dress settle down around Sarah before flitting it about to take any wrinkle from it. When she asked about the war Anya would merely nod as Falicia smiled." War, ah you thought it was only a human trait?" She laughed shaking her head. " See lesser vampires strive to be royalty or at least as strong. Mind you some half breeds are stronger or at least match the pure bloods. " She would smile to her kindly. " But a bitten is never that strong. Only the royal family or some one born of it can walk in the day with out turning to ash. " Falicia would tilt her head a little.
" I am only a half breed and the direct light of the human world burns my skin and makes me feel sick. This city is protected from all that. So half breeds, full and turned walk freely in light. If we were to go outside the islands for the turned it would be death. " She would finish up the dress before she adjusted any of the bows and pretties on the dress. " There..." she mumbled looking Sarah over. " Yes perfect. Now all you need is a good pair of thigh high boots and some jewelry."
Anya would smile and bounce on her feet a little. " Oh yes your a vision " Falicia would giggle softly. " Your hair would be prefect in so many styles too. I love your freckles" Her fingers would gently brush against sarah's cheek. " Such a wonder. " She would move to the front of the shop and the till could be heard wrining up. Before she shut the drawer walking around the store tucking some more silks and cloths on the shelves.
Anya would smile " Yes take your time looking it over. Later you might want to come buy more" Anya ducked back out after Falicia " Why did you wring up already?" Falicia would giggle shaking her head. " It is a gift So i put my own money in. I want her to have it for free. I know how hard it can be for some one new" She would lean on the counter letting Sarah look it over with out them getting in her way. " You know you can not keep her away for to much longer. Your Master will come to find you." Anya pursed her lips and pouted. " Well I will tell him I went window shoping." Falicia would raise a brow and wave her hands a little as if saying its your choice.

Sarah listened to Falicia as she explained the reason why there was a war and the different types of vampires and where here was. The islands for the turned ... If the shop was anything to go by, and the people that were here, Sarah believed that the rest of the islands were just as beautiful. She had the urge to go explore the rest of her new residence. "So the myths about vampires are true," she said, more to herself. "You guys don't ... glitter? Sparkle."
Damien didn't seem to sparkle when she met him for the first time. So obviously not.
Sarah let the ladies finish with making sure everything was in place, her hands still. At the talk of jewelry and boots her eyes widened a bit. Could boots even go as high as one's thighs? She's window-shopped online before, and did recall seeing a few on well-known sites. She's always thought of them as kick-butt. Good looking. And what about the jewelry? Her hand raised a bit to brush against her bare collar.
She was actually a bit distracted. Falicia's fingers on her face made her jump a bit. But the compliment she received about her freckles made her eartips go red. They were a wonder. "Thank you," she said, finally accepting her first compliment. It made her feel as if she were fishing for them. But it also made her feel good about herself. Her Science teacher had always told her that she had a low self-esteem. So when she finally accepted Falicia and Anya's words, it was a big step for her.
A bright smile was on her face when she stepped out of the dressing room. She had the clothes she had on before dress all folded up in her arms. "What's next?" she asked her guide and the owner of the shop, unaware of the exchange between the two.

Falicia had only laughed when she asked about if they sparkled or not, once Sarah had joined them outside the back room. " No none of us sparkle. And no we are not dead either. It is just because we are hard to kill that most believe that we are un-dead. I breath and my heart beats just as yours does and your welcome "
She would think for a moment. " The blood we drink is not only sustains us like that of a vampire bat. But it helps us use magic. I am sure if we stopped drinking their blood eventually we would not be able to use magic. " Anya would smile thinking about it, she did not know if that was true or not. But she knew that her blood did boost her Masters power when casting.
" But that is here nor there. Please do make your way back to my shop when you can. " The bell in the shop tolled as a few women stepped inside the shop with pare-sails, they looked like nobles. Tugging off their gloves they would go about feeling the fabric in the store giggling about how it felt. Anya would curtsy to Falicia " Yes we will. We should head towards the Military district after I take you to the Cobbler to have your feet sized and boots made for you. " She would curtsy to the customers before waving for Sarah to come on.
One of the women turned to look at her whispering behind a fan." Where did she come from, she is not marked. Do you think she is free game?" Anya's hand would glow a little as she circled her fingers into a loose fist. She watched them waiting for Sarah to follow her. Falicia would step between them and Sarah, it seemed she was merely assisting them to check out the fabric." Ladies look at the new silk I just got in"
The children no longer played in the road but watched Sarah and Anya, some where poorly dressed all most like what you would see in a movie like a orphan. One flicked a coin up into the air several times, before whispering into another's ear. They would split up waiting for them to depart the store fully.

Sarah felt as if she had learned a lesson. Not as in she got in trouble "learned a lesson", but as if she had been sitting at a desk learning about vampires. She stored the information back within the recesses of her mind, knowing that she was going to need it for future use. After all, she was supposedly a witch. And vampires didn't just drink blood to live.
A few more questions popped into her head. Especially when the women with the umbrella-things came in. Sarah didn't know the lingo used here. But she knew "free game". It was sickening to know that she was going to be used as a source of some sort, so when she heard those two words a chill raced down her spine. Needless to say she was quick to follow Anya out the store. Not once did she look back at the women.
Though she did take a glance at the children who stared at them. She never liked being stared at; it made her think she was being judged. And she hated to be judged. Maybe if they weren't staring her heart would go out to them, sympathizing because she had once been an orphan. Of course, she was too young to remember, and even so she had been dressed nicely before her parents adopted her (in which case she was dressed even better).
But now she was too freaked out to even care. The woman's words were still ringing in her ears. "What did she mean, back there?" she asked Anya, her steps quickening so that she would be beside her. "About getting marked?"

The light in Anya's hand dwindled slowly like a flame going out as she moved down the cobbled road, her boots sounded hot on the stone as if she was in a hurry. " Marked? Oh! "She laughed and blushed a little." By a bite. Your Master might not mark you. Means that you are open to others feeding on you if he doesn't." She said softly the blush only deepening on her face, she was distracted with the thought of it. That she didn't notice the child that bumped into her. " Sorry Ma'am" He said bowing taking his scrap hat off. Anya would reach into her bag quickly holding open the tome using the quill she had before, swirl of words and light would come off the page before the boy would be turned up side down for his trouble." you retched Urchin " She growled shaking the boy so that her jewelry dumped from his pockets.
She would leave him hanging upside down to pick up her things, " Slippery fingers." A fully armored guard made his way over. " I will take the boy " was all he stated, before she dropped him like a sack of potato's by closing the book. The rest of the children scattered quickly," Next time I will twist you to the in between!!" She shouted to the rest. She would move down the street further branching off to the left when reaching the four corners of town.
Which was in the dead middle. She would take the left passing carriages, stopping on the street she would head down a couple of short stairs going into a door the sound of a bell going off. Two people stood with in the small shop wall lined with various shoes, glossed and shined to perfection. A male and a female, one side seemed to have male shoes and the other was filled with women's. " Hello Killian, Éloïse Merle" They both would bow. " Ma'dame"
" I want my friend here fitted for a good pair of boots, one where she doesn't have to balance like ballerina to be able to walk. A good strong heel. Long boot if you will. " Éloïse would smile looking over her dress," I can even match the inner part of the boot and buckle to her dress. " She said moving to get the Brannock Device to measure her foot with. " Come love " Patting the seat for her to sit and remove her shoes.

Anya's blush made Sarah's eyes draw together a bit in confusion. A bite is a bite, which hurts a lot. Without much thought her eyes glanced briefly to her companion's neck; she wondered what it looked like, a mark. But before she could ask one of the boys had bumped into Anya.
Her lips threatened to tilt upward, but they stopped when Anya literally made the boy turn upside down. It reminded her of the old movies where the bully would pull the victim up by his ankles to shake lunch money out of his pockets. Sarah started to protest, shocked at the side of Anya she hadn't seen yet.
"Oh," she stated to herself when she realized the boy pick-pocketed her. The chance of sympathizing was completely demolished. "What's going to happen to him?" she asked, after she helped Anya gather her things.
Sarah was glad that they finally made it. With how the dress was it was difficult to regain her breath. Her legs burned slightly. She was a tad out of shape, she realized. But she tried not to gape like a fish. When told to sit she nodded before doing so. If she didn't have the corset in the back she'd be slouching.
Yeah, she wasn't very ladylike.
For a few minutes she struggled to take her shoes and socks off. But she got it by herself, and because of that she had a triumphant smile on her face. "Aha!"

Anya would smile when she had asked about the boy," He will be taken to the headmistress of hsi orphanage and punished via made to write something over and over agian till his hand hurts. But once he gets older he might end up in jail if he is not careful." Anya was amuzed by Sarah's triumph, she thought it was cute. Éloïse would move down taking her foot and placing it in the Brannock Device with a quick measure she would move and start to work on her shoe. " You said you wanted boots? Any other type of shoes you want Miss?"
She spoke directly to Sarah because they were meant to be for her. Anya smiled leaning on the shelf watching Éloïse bend the leather for the thigh high boot. Setting it up before she would work out what type of sole she was going to use. " A gift for the new comer in town. Three pairs of shoes for free." Killian would stare at his sister as if she was mad. " Either that Killian or free repairs for life?" He would smile." Three pairs of shoes for free sounds fine" He would bow to them before making himself scares.
" So what was our dear freind Anya blushing about eh?" Anya would blush again not aware she still been red when coming into the shop. " Nothing!" She covered her mouth surprised she had practicly shouted. . Éloïse giggled and looked to Sarah for the answer.

Well, it was better than what she thought it was going to be. Seeing that man in full body armor pick up that boy made her think that since Anya was affiliated with the king the boy would get in a lot of trouble for swiping from her – more so than if it was just some random person like her.
"Hmm," was all she said to that.
At the question Sarah shook her head. "The boots are more than fine for me. Besides, I don't have any money." When Éloïse offered her three free pairs of shoes her jaw dropped. Just one pair of handcrafted shoes would be a lot because they were custom made. But three? Her reaction was the same as Killian's, undeniably.
(On a side note: she worried as the man left if her being there and being offered such a deal made him dislike her.)
"I-I don't know, honestly," she finally stammered out, after she clenched her jaw shut. Her mind had completely gone blank now that she had been given this gift. It was like how she was when someone asked her what she wanted for Christmas – all year round she'd be pining for something, and then when the time came to ask for it she couldn't. "Um, whatever you think is best. I've never had my shoes custom-made."
As Éloïse worked, Sarah looked down at her hands laying on the folds of the dress. When she was asked why Anya was blushing her brows drew together again. She was hesitant to answer when her companion protested, but chuckled when she slapped a hand over her mouth. "I don't know why. She explained what a mark was. All it is is just a bite to show possession. Kind of like how a kid would put his name on a toy in hopes that no one would play with it."
