Sarah followed close behind Alister. Felicity was so hesitant to follow them that she didn't get there to hear Fae curse at Alister. But if she had … she would have tried to get Sarah away from him. After all, she didn't like demons due to her family's past with them.
Sarah smiled at the sight of her friend, immediately walking over to her. All thoughts of training left her. And Felicity knew this. So she let the feather float down towards the ground, then it was swept up gently by a gust of wind and carried away. The young mother let it go, watching it with a sort of peaceful feeling. She was still kind of miffed with Alister.
Due to how Fae was acting toward the man, she guessed Fae didn't like him either.
"There's nothing wrong," Sarah replied, smiling cheekily at Anya. "It's just that–"
"I want to go see … Crevan? Is that his name?" Felicity stepped closer to the group, a hand going to the pearls below her collarbone. "So that I know the reason why Sarah isn't able to pay attention to her training."
Sarah stopped herself from glaring. But only slightly. It was easy to be irritated with Felicity. Seeing as how she was still upset that Felicity put her up for adoption, hinting around that Sarah was daydreaming about Crevan only made her even more irritable. All Sarah could do was bite her cheek to where she tasted the hint of blood as her biological mother continued.
"He," she motioned with a slight tilt of her head toward Alister's way, "led us here so that we could go wherever Sarah's obsession is."
"I'm not obsessed," Sarah said in her defense, blushing so much that it hurt.
"That's what I said about your father." Felicity gave her an identical cheeky grin. "But I was. It's a good thing too. Otherwise you wouldn't be here."

Any would smile to her friend giggling at her saying there was nothing wrong and the small excitement she bounced with. Hearing the woman speak she would tilt her head a little looking between the two, " Well .... " She could see the fire in her friends eyes as she tried not to glare at her mother which only made her a little uncomfortable. Alister would raise a brow when the woman motioned to him with her head. He scoffed and cleared his throat," I merely said she could. Did not say she would" Anya would blush and fidget a little, she would of course for her friend.
Alister would eye the woman when she mentioned Sarah's father," Then perhaps you should not be the pot calling the kettle black. " Said with a snip of heat. If the woman had gone goo goo over some one surely she knew what her daughter was going through. Anya would pale a little with the thought of them arguing once she had taken them. " I will do anything for Sarah." She paused not meaning to sound rude in anyway as she spoke the rest. " But...I will not take you as a group if you can not be civil" Fae would laugh lightly stopping what she was doing. " If you do not little girl I will " Anya blushed from head to toe at her mothers interfering with every thing.
" Mother you must stay here and keep a eye on your Master" Fae made a psh noise and waved her hands. "Well thats the wonderful thing about portals and such darling, you can open more then one. " Anya looked down and fidgeted. " Though I do not throw my magic around with out cause. Or with out a way to get rid of the magic in my veins." She sighed and pulled out a quellazairen placing a thin cigar into it before lighting it. " Darling you simply must not make your self old so young" She whispered before puffing off the cigar. Her eyes followed Alister who would sigh rubbing forehead.
" Look ladies Who ever does it does it. It is not a competition. " He was becoming impatient with Fae and felicity. Anya would wave her hands. " I will do it if you all calm down" Her face had a flushed look but it wasn't a embarrassed look. It was more overwhelmed, turning she would pull her tome out along with her quill but before she could do anything her mother caste the magic from her fingers. " If you do not go with them they will get in trouble. " She smiled and Anya put it away slowly and curtsied to her mother before going through the portal, Alister would wait for them to go through covering the rear.

"Whatever," she responded to him, not daring to look his way. If she did she might do something she'd regret. Like sticking a sharp stick through his eyeball. Then she'd be a prisoner of this realm too. And she couldn't have that. "The point is he led us here."
The refrain of looking at him flew out the window when he said the next thing. With a twirl of her skirts she rounded on him and pointed at him, her arm at a 45-degree angle. "Obviously I was merely teasing. And then easing my prods with a personal experience of my own, you freaking –"
But – Thankfully, Sarah couldn't help but think, because she didn't like confrontation any more that her friend did – she was interrupted by Anya's interjection. At her words, Felicity would have smiled. Though she was wondering how it would feel to personally gouge someone's eye out with her fingers. Gooey? Definitely slimy.
A scoff, much like Alister's, emitted from her throat. Civil? Please. She'll avoid him as much as possible, that's as close as civil as it's going to get. But she was not afraid to bite if Alister came toward her. (That could be taken literally, too.)
Sarah couldn't speak, everyone was talking so fast. At least, it seemed like it. A series of streams of words all crashing into one lake. It was just a cacophony. She, too, was overwhelmed. One could tell by how her cheek was sucked in between her teeth, her jaw moving back and forth.
"Trouble?" Felicity asked suddenly, looking toward Fae. "What sort of trouble?" But suddenly Sarah took her hand and dragged her through the portal. There were a good five or six feet away from each other, and so Sarah had to make a good leap to grab her hand.
Felicity was surprised, to say the least. "Thank you!" she heard her daughter say before they passed through the other side.

Anya would stop dead on her in her tracks about five steps from the portal, it was not along the beach where most likely they would of been safe. She was dead center in the only town on this island Crevan was on, her blood chilled seeing barely her hand before her face as she held it up. The fog was dense and eerie breathing seemed difficult for the moment as her hearth thudded in her chest. Sweat beaded along her brow before slipping down her face, she could hear the sounds of what she feared the most. Hungry vampires.
She twitched as every thing seemed to come to view in her mind, her mother had done this on purpose. She knew she had. She had to of, right? She asked her self as she scanned around her even though she could not see with her normal vision. Her hand trembling as he pulled a smaller tome from her bag, running her fingers over it she would drop a small droplet of blood on the page.
The words would move and fly off the page before hitting her in the eyes, bringing her hand up to her mouth as she crashed to her knees. Her face etched in fear and pain as her scream was silent, blinking her eyes made shapes come into view. Being surrounded from all sides did not leave her feeling safe, she could see some vanishing in the distance. Tears finally washing away the spell before she rubbed them gently, wishing she had some clean water to take the sting away.
~*~
Fae would smile when she asked what trouble she was speaking about, " Did they not tell you, It is drills on the outer isles. Good luck" She puffed on the long cigar holder watching them go through, she hoped they enjoyed being in the middle of things tapping the device she would walk off in search of her 'Master'. The portal would zip closed once all of them had made it through and the magic filtered back into her hand. "Amateur's." She mumbled as the many trinkets on her jingled lightly. Her dress was not the less revealing type, her legs were in perfect view as the bell parted in the front.
She smiled a shorter skirt hide all the eye candy, but her fish net stockings where for pare-view. Her steps were seductive in manner as she moved down the street. The cobbles wet from the shop keepers cleaning off their walkways, the air smelled of a faint sea salt and bakery bread fresh loafs cooling near the windows. By god it made her stomach growl, she wondered how long they all would be at each others throats before they were in trouble.
Seeing some sod getting thrown out of The Alehouse of Witches made her smile, she could most likely find her Master there and grab a bite to eat. Her boots making a great noise off the shop walls as she rounded (of course stepping over the sod) into the Tavern. The smell changed quickly to expensive cigars and ale, oh with a hint of caramel from the type of floats they offered. Most of the drinks never watered down, sept for Dragon's spit which could knock a troll on their ass. She suddenly thirsted for a pint as well, rushing to the bar forgetting all about her Master she called out." Two Pints of Angel tears and a house float Siri!!"
A women in a red outfit would smile popping up from behind the bar. " Aye Coming right up" She giggled and quickly went to work with her magic hands liquids flowing from kegs and some vile's. She seemed to be using magic to fill the frost cold pints, slamming them down on the bar and shooting them down to her made Fae giggle like a teenage girl. " Gods new and old I have missed this place" She dug into the float first with a heavy need and hunger. When she had finally cleared her mouth she would look to Siri" Where is the the lech" She would only smile as the woman pointed towards the back where a woman of exact stature and looks stood throwing darts with a group of men. Fae narrowed her eyes before going back to her float as she mumbled" figures"
~*~
Crevan watched through the fog not with his eyes but his sense, smelling the sick sweet smell of death. Drawing his sword slowly a boy holding a ceramic vase would poor something on his sword as it was drawn. Turning and running the boy would move for the other soldiers, the blade started to smoke as it seemed the mixture evaporated. Turning the blade back he would close his eyes holding his hand out," Vă pot mirosi" (I can smell you.) something else came to his nose soon.
It was faint and hidden mostly by the death smell, his human like ears twitched as if trying to hear more. His natural senses reached across the land feeling for the voids of life, his eyes would open the mixture swelling with blood red lust. His eyes pools of crimson with fire swirling in them, in a blink he was running across the graveled dirt and grass.
Moving low before bracing up with his sword slicing through a individual, staggering back he would brace with the sword up.
The figure remained motionless till it snapped like a picture, every thing turning to ash and blasting apart. Running through he would dodge one diving for him slicing back taking the head off before twirling his sword between both his hands. Shoving forward from the crotch up before knocking the body apart, the ash busting apart. His soldiers keeping in step with him cutting down the infected, he felt something was off when they didn't charge. He figured that some one alive was in the midst of them, this meant they were smelling them out. This made him move faster slicing through them, his men were worried that they would not be able to keep up.

Sarah stopped when she noticed that Anya did, which caused for Felicity to crash into her. Sarah felt her balance being thrown off, and her body tilted forward. A squeak of fright later, Felicity was pulling the hand that she held toward her so as to keep from her daughter falling.
"Quiet," Felicity hissed as she kept Sarah by her side, leaving her no room to protest. The mother felt cold from the nervousness (it wasn't fear, yet) wrapping around her shoulders. Fae had said something about drills, but this didn't feel like drills – in the human realm when doing drills the participants stayed alive. This was more like … the forest within the faeries' realm. It had just the same amount of fog, hiding both the prey from the predator and the predator from the prey.
In the faeries' realm, she couldn't manipulate the fog. Here, she was too startled at where they were to try.
Where were they?!
"Anya." Sarah couldn't help but call out, wrenching away from her biological mother's grip to crouch down by her friend. She couldn't hear the infected, or see past her friend. Sarah didn't like where Fae had them go, and it was clear Anya didn't either. She wanted to know where Crevan was, but even more desperate to see what was wrong with Anya.
"Are you okay?"

Anya would gulp the saliva in her mouth down feeling she need to vomit letting the magi set into her. " I am fine" Which was true, she would be fine for a while. " We are surrounded. Do not move or make noise" She said softly as possible. She could tell Felicity had some kind of instinct that Sarah did not contain yet, she pushed herself up off the ground dusting her hand of the gravel and dirt. She wanted to call out to alister asking him where he was, usually he was a mouth of words.
Silence was good but bad at the same time, it made fear well up in her more. She could hear the sound of swords and something like sand, it would start to rain and the fog seemed to dissipate at a alarming rate. She felt the fear well and spill over upon seeing the horde only a few paces from her, her heart beat sped up to the point it made her chest hurt. The ones closets to them turned smelling the fear in the rain, their faces pale in a deathly sense, more gray then milk colored like cement their eyes like all the vessels in them popped the black pupils giving them a evil look. Their mouths having caked dried blood on them started to wash clean, their finger nails unkempt and claw like.
The sound they emitted sounded something like a old house creaking that turned into a groans, She would hear a few more sand like noise after the sound of a sword slicing through something. Closing her eyes to let the sting ease for a moment, " Crevan is close by " Which was not far off. Dicing into the another group as he tried to reach what the thought was villagers trapped in the middle.
If had but known it was Sarah he would of worked with more fierce and reckless, instead he took his time and being careful so to draw the attention towards his group of soldiers. Seeing the fog clear he would finally see the group that he thought was villagers, the shock and horror came to his face for a brief second. He became filled with panic as he laid his thought and planning aside and pushed forward using not only his shoulder but the hilt of his sword to knock them away.

Sarah nodded, shakily making a motion of keeping her lips closed by drawing her index finger and thumb across her mouth. A second later she stood up too. Hearing that they were surrounded visibly affected her. Her face paled so much, even the dragon skin became lighter in color. She couldn't find it within herself to speak, even if she wasn't told not to. Deep down, she wished that the fog hadn't lifted. Yes, it was morbid, but she would rather have not seen these beings at all before she died.
And yes, even though Crevan said to plan for the future Sarah felt like she was staring death right in its nasty gray eyes.
Her body shook like a child's rattler, her heart mimicking a quarter-horse's hooves at a gallop. A quick glance at Felicity had her wondering vaguely how in the world she could stay so calm with these … things surrounding them.
"I hope he gets here now," Felicity whispered to Anya, moving to have her back behind them. "Otherwise …"
She didn't finish the thought. Felicity didn't have to. Instead she clenched her fists, then released them before whispering something in a foreign tongue. It didn't matter if her heart was racing just as fast as Anya's and Sarah's. Her hands were steady. Her eyes cold as stone.
The rain was no longer soaking them. It was as if the rain beat down harder and faster on these things that surrounded the girls. Her ears couldn't pick up anything other than the rain. Even then she was too concentrated on manipulating the rain to even think of if they were getting help.
A closer inspection had her noticing the dried blood around their mouths. A sudden idea had her stomach roiling. That breakfast she had that morning was fixing to come up. But … if it was the only way to make it out alive she was going to have to do it. And honestly, she had no qualms in following through with her idea.
It was the fact that she had no qualms that made her sick.

Anya backed up grabbing Sarah's hand tightly, it felt like energy was buzzing between her hand and Anya's. Lifting her head to the sky closeing her eyes letting the water wash away the magic formed around her eyes. The stinging was gone and she felt fine for now, but she knew later from the weather and magic she would feel sick.
She was far from done useing it, moving her hand out like a book she would write on her skin and as soon as the ink went it floated up as she spoke. " Minerale de pământ și elemente de dans dans de lame ."(Minerals of earth and elements dance the dance of blades.) something pulling from the ground would turn into a solid, in a shape of large needles more then blades. Her skin turned dark very quickly where she had wrote on her hand, her fingers would turn in slightly in a small open fist. The pain was deep as she bite her lip to balance it out, the needles where like pikes faceing away from them towards the infected making a barrier.
The smell of minor blood drew attention quickly to their direction, the speed compared to when they were wandering aimlessly was grand in difference. Impaling onto the large needles sliding quickly down as they hissed trying to break free, the way they healed was quick but failed seeming them still impaled.
Their claw like finger nails scratching at the metal breaking them apart, black tar like substance leaking from their mouth as they opened them hissing loudly. In the distance soldiers coming to finish off ones from the village doors and clearing the streets. Ayna would look back seeing Crevan beyond Alister who seemed to have gone very silent in all of it. She could see him slicing through a group, they seemed to be flooding him quickly his men trying to assist with out catching a slice from his blade.
Alister kept started to pull off his gloves slowly his hands had scars of a upside pentagram on them. He would slice his finger rubbing his fingers together slowly trying to draw more blood out. The scars on his hand would seem to have ink fill them as he mumbled words before slamming his hand down on the ground. What he had been doing while no one was paying attention was making a circle around them in the fog. He closed it muffling the sound only of those outside the circle, if any one stepped through he would be able to hear it better then the all the noises they were making. And they would be delt with as quickly as possible.

Sarah had to admit, holding Anya's hand had her feeling a bit better. She didn't know where the energy she felt was coming from, but that was the reason why her heart didn't race as much. In fact, she didn't have Jell-O legs while looking for a few seconds at each infected individual.
Her eyes widened when she saw the needle-like barrier surrounding them. Then she squealed and (after that) whimpered as soon as the first thing jumped at them. Thank God for that barrier, she thought, but one glance at Anya had her mouth turning into a thin, grim line. This magic was hurting her. Fae's words came back to her right then. Something about dying because of magic.
Felicity was too engrossed with getting the group out of here that she didn't notice anything more than Anya's barrier. With one flick of her wrists she released the rain from her hold so that she could focus on the things that were impaling themselves to get to the group.
Since the plasma of the blood is 92% water, and the infected looked as if they had eaten shortly before this encounter, Felicity was fully capable of manipulating the liquid inside their bodies. It was of dark magic to do so; she's never done it. It would take a good portion of her energy, as well as drain her life force of a good few years at least.
Her pupils seemed to bleed into her irises, and even into the whites of her eyes. Nothing shot out of her hands as she had her palms faced the people surrounding them and she mumbled a chant. The soldiers weren't affected, but the consumed blood that the infected had should boil with wherever it was stored (she wasn't sure if the blood eaten by vampires went to the stomach before going through veins or just went through the veins – hey, she wasn't big on biology) before causing them to explode in dozens of pieces.
It wasn't a giant explosion, but a long series of dull booms. Unlike fireworks, body parts didn't fly in magnificent colors. Sarah, helpless and afraid, started to hyperventilate. Her teeth chattered. She felt numb. Suddenly she felt herself tipping forward again when her mother leaned heavily against her. This time she actually did fall, her hands catching her.
"What was that, you ask?" Felicity asked in a daze, even though Sarah didn't say anything. But she couldn't answer her own question; Felicity moved to her side just enough to vomit not only her breakfast, but traces of blood.
Maybe she shouldn't have done that.

Crevan hearing the muffled explosions would dodge the bodies letting his men take them down the rest of the way. Moving into reach of Sarah he would step in front of them slicing the heads off the infected, his blood red eyes staring down at them. " What are you doing here?" His tone was less then enthused. Anya would look up at him, the magic bleeding into her skin. " It is not our fault my mother sent us here, instead of the beach. "
Crevan shot her a glance before he swung his sword back impaling a infected. " fall back with my men to the beach Anya take felicity with you Alister and I will protect Sarah" He did not want her leaving his side.
Alister would turn his attention to Crevan wondering why he did not want her falling back with the rest, and he doubted that Felicity would allow it. As much as he disliked the woman he knew she cared for her daughter, and he would have to agree with her if she refuted his suggestion.
Breaking down the barrier he would slice clean threw a couple of infected that seemed alerted to the mass. Only twenty seemed left as the other side soldiers moved after them, he was unaware of how many inside might of become infected from encounters before they arrived.
Anya would stand as close as she could to Sarah, she seemed to refuse to leave her side. Crevan was to busy to realize no one had done what he said as of yet. Helping his men dispatch the remaining infected that were outside of the buildings of the village. His blade clean of blood but printed in ash.

"I-I–" Sarah scrambled out from under Felicity, who was still suffering the effects of using her first dark magic spell. She was too distraught to brush the dirt from her trouser pants, but not distraught enough to glaze over the fact that Crevan's purple-and-platinum eyes were now blood-red.
Her breath was caught in her throat. Chills raced down her spine. She was transfixed to her spot. So much so, that only his sudden movements caused her to look away. To look at the thing that he impaled instead. It was that moment she knew that tonight she was going to have nightmares.
If they made it out alive. Which there was a chance. The horde had become less and less oppressive since Crevan and his men made it to them. But what she was fretting about was that everyone was fighting these things. Anya. Felicity. Alister. Crevan and his soldiers. She couldn't do anything. She was the dead weight.
Either way she went. With Crevan or Felicity. She was literally powerless. And Sarah would hate herself even more than now if one of these people got hurt because of her.
"She's not – going – with – you." In between gasps of breath she snapped at Crevan. Although her daughter trusted him, she didn't. Nowadays she didn't trust anyone. And she would be damned if Sarah ended up dead when they just got reunited. "Sar-ah is with – us." Slowly, she teetered back from on her hands and knees, feeling her heels dig into her butt because of the kneeling position. Her eyes still looked like her pupils were bleeding , and black tendrils drew themselves on her face, starting from the corners of her eyes. Still she could clearly see. Could clearly smell the disgusting scent of the infected.
And she didn't have a heightened sense of smell.
Slowly, she stood. She was slow, so that she could maintain her balance (she still had a head-rush, though). Her stance was that of a mother bear's as she stood behind Sarah, who grabbed Anya's hand and squeezed. "Now are we going to go?" Felicity continued, grabbing at her stomach as if that would ease the queasiness. With the other, thankfully clean, hand she grabbed Sarah's free hand and started to lead the chain the girls unintentionally made into the right direction – she supposed it was at least.

Crevan would look to Felicity turning his back to the targets," I saved you for Sarah, not so you could tell me what she could and could not do" He flicked the blade before sheathing it, having the infected coming for him he did not flinch in any manner. He could hear them closing in his soldiers would move past him slicing through the infected, crouching down slicing their blades into the ground. " Sir the villagers are infected. The grounds must be purged" The voice of the soldier sounded all most electronic. He would sigh turning to them. " Burn the buildings with them inside" His eyes swirled with the lust as he stared at Sarah. " Double check to see if any one is not infected. I do not want any ones blood on my conscious"
He moved towards Felicity his nails seemed longer, taking off his helmet his hair seemed to have grown some more. Chucking his helmet back a young man would catch an hold it, running his fingers through his hair slowly." I need you to understand something young one" He was referring to Felicity. " I have no age because I am age less. And when I ask something when all are in danger that it be followed with out question. I can not protect you or Anya..in fact I should not have to. You both are capable of using magic. Sarah is just blooming into her own. My concern is only with her. None of you" Anya stared at Crevan her stomach reeling as the dark magic crawled along her skin. " Soldier!" The man holding his helmet would jump. " Drain the sickness from Anya then pray for your life. "
The soldier would move to Anya who was following Felicity. She would jerk from him until he grabbed her arm and bite into her hand the dark would start to fade from her skin. The young man seemed ill not from the drinking of the blood but the fact he had drank from some one who was taken. Every one that was a vampire knew what it meant to play with someone else things. Specially a Scion.

Sarah couldn't look at him. Not even when Crevan said to burn the village and its inhabitants. Her eyes flitted from the soldiers to the spikes to Crevan's forehead. When he brushed his fingers through his hair. Anywhere but at his eyes. She couldn't help it.
Her stomach churned. She felt light-headed. Her veins carried ice instead of blood. Today has been very … not planned. Seriously, just this morning Crevan and she were talking about the ring. And now there were zombies? Infected? Not only that, but Felicity looked as if she was about to pull that explosive thing again.
Felicity's face was red, her eyes squinted. The woman was barely breathing, like Sarah. But she wasn't scared. His words infuriated her. Not because he said he didn't have to watch after her, or the fact he called her a little girl. Although she was impressed with his "my concern is with her", she didn't like how he would want to take Sarah when he was battling nasty things and burning building with people inside them. " I respect that you want to protect her. Sarah doesn't need to see any more of this, though," she muttered, not yet to the point of yelling. And hopefully it wouldn't come to that. She didn't shy away from him. She wasn't afraid of him because a vampire wasn't the scariest thing she came across. "Can't you see this is scaring her?"
Sarah let go of Felicity's hand, which didn't seem to bother her. And just as soon as she did she stepped closer to Anya. Tightening a hold on her friend's hand, she watched with detached interest as the darkness disappeared from her skin.
"Are you okay?" she asked her, visibly shaking, yet more concerned about her.
She didn't understand completely why Anya jerked away from him. Or why the soldier looked as if he was about to pass out like Sarah. It was because she was a Scion, she was sure. But the magic that Anya did was hurting her. The bite seemed to take it away. Sarah just wasn't getting how vampires can be possessive. "Will he be okay, too?" Sarah continued, talking about the poor man that Crevan sent to Anya.

Crevan stopped his movement staring at Felicity before looking to Sarah, then back to Felicity" You can not coddle some one that is not a toddler any more. Things in life are scary, you not wanting her to see such things does not negate them from being real!" His anger foamed from the boiling need to feed, normally when fighting for the army he would feed on his Enemies but if he did so now he would turn into one of them.
" I see no need to shelter her from what might happen in the capital. She is coming of age soon by all old rights of your lineage. You missed your chance to be a mother of a child, but you can still salvage your chance at knowing her. " Him seeing her leave Felicity to check on Anya made him relax a little, he knew they were best friends in all of it even though they had met as not much before she met him.
Anya would smile half heart " I am fine. And he will be fine for now. He fears my Master and what he might do for bleeding me" She said softly she did not like the arguing between Crevan and Felicity. She would always be afraid of the infected, but she rather face them then run and hide.
Being shy person did not mean she was not brave when it came to these types of things, as long as she had friends by her side. " Lets head away from the village. Not all the infected have turned mindless. This is something you wont want to see " She said softly gently leading her friend away from the view. Her body shaking from the cold that was rushing in as it seemed a storm was rolling in for the small island.
The soldiers in the back started to throw sake across the buildings, as soon as the torch was tossed screaming could be heard. The soldiers stiffed at the sound all but one stood still, that one rushed inside coming out with a small child. Infected spilled out past him screaming on fire. A straight line of people followed him out before the building collapsed, it seemed that it had a hidden trap door they had missed. The men would cut down the infected to stop the screaming, it sounding like the wind howling through a crack in a window.

"Fine."
The word was said with so much bitterness that if it was a tangible thing, it would be a lemon. The utterance was a sign of acquiescence.
Reluctant acquiescence – Crevan's words stung worse than a wasp. And her first instinct when being stung was to swat a wasp. With Crevan, Felicity had the urge to use that stick she intended for Alister. Though she couldn't necessarily act on that urge – at least, not without consequences.
So she bit her tongue, tamped her motherly instincts, and stepped to the side (of course, by the time she did so Sarah was starting to walk with Anya).
In a way, Crevan was right; in giving her up for adoption, Felicity had no parental rights. But she did want a relationship with Sarah. And that meant trusting this man with her daughter. No, it wasn't that. It was actually getting and staying on this man's good side. She knew of the … mutual relationship between vampires and witches. And now Sarah was no exception. If Sarah's master didn't want her seeing Felicity, she had no choice but to follow his command.
"Well, King Damien should understand," Sarah replied quietly, hesitantly. "I mean, you were in pain." But what did she know? This was only her third day living in the Isles. She still had a lot of learning to do.
Since her clothes were soaked because of the rain that cleared the fog away, she too shook from the cold. Sarah was grateful that she and Anya were walking away from the scene of Felicity and Crevan fighting and the background of the burning village. It was bad enough the infected's screams were terrorizing her. And the smell of fire and burning flesh was being carried on the wind. Her stomach was churning like boiling water. "Good idea," she whispered, not hearing that her mother finally gave up her argument.
