( Voss) Sarah walked hand-in-hand with Anya as they weaved through the various venders. Since she came back from the Faerie world and found out that time had passed a lot faster than Sarah thought, she realized how precious her friendship with Anya was. A week had flown by, when Alistair claimed it had only been half a day within the Forest, but it could have been longer. Time was too feeble. Her life here had just begun. And so she was going to make the best of it. A week after that, Crevan left on a tour. Although he said that he did this every so often (which was a viable excuse; after all, he was the General), Sarah couldn't help but think that in some way, it was because of her. Was it because of the trouble he had gone through to get her from the Time-Taking Realm (as she so spitefully calls it)? Or how the venom he took from her caused him to have a nightmare in front of God and everybody? Maybe it was the golden charm of a tree leaf that he found in the armoire by her pretty boots that did not come from him? She didn't know where it came from, if not from him. But it clinked musically against the crest of the Velcrest family as she walked in sync with her best friend. Either way, he didn't want to take her with him, even though the other soldiers took their witches. Instead, she was sent to the castle, with Alistair keeping watch on her (so that no one had the bright idea to take a bite out of Sarah while Crevan was away). As the days went by, she grew close with Laina. The queen was kind. Treated her as if she were her own child, even. Laina was giving her lessons that might not even be considered for witches like her. Etiquette, posture, even dancing! She never yelled if Sarah got anything wrong. Instead, she was patient. While she couldn't be a master at things after a couple months, she got the hang of it. She no longer looked down at her feet, instead keeping her chin high and with a twinkle in her golden eyes. Her shoulders weren't hunched. They were straight with a sort of pride that would make Cindimir proud. And she barely stuttered anymore. It was amazing. Not to mention her time spent with Felicity. Even if she didn't call her Mom, she still felt as if there was a bond budding between them in-between the magic lessons. Levitating things from rocks to herself. Astral projection. Things that her other family members should know by now. She was glad to be caught up. That meant spending more time with Anya. "So," she broke the comfortable silence between them. "What are the plans for today?"

Anya started slightly at the break in silence her reverie had been the view. A new selection of goods had been brought in the harbor and sold to the man shops and vendors lining the city. " Oh I need some ingredients for spell's and the like, " She said softly a smile drawing to her pink soft lips. " I am up for anything you would want to do today. It is not like we have practice. " Her mother had told her that practice was something to continue even after you think you mastered something. Though she often fought with her, she knew better than to argue with her logic or thinking. Her eyes focused on her friend her hand tightening slightly before slipping from hers. " It can not hurt to look at the vendors' goods." Her eyes caught sight of Alister who was not far off but not interfering with the girls hanging out. He looked like he was trying to not pay attention to them, but she knew better. If anyone went for Sarah he would be there in a flash, quite literally.
" Well ladies to is fine to see you out and about. Mental exhaustion is never good for witches. " Julian smiled before rubbing an apple on his suit jacket before taking a large bite. His eyes looked past Anya watching Sarah, it annoyed her to no end that he was openly viewing gawking at her best friend. She said nothing, though, about it, she did however smile. " Yes, it's good to rest once in a while. " Turning her attention to the stand to looking over the food that was laying out. Apples and fresh fruits, the vendor's were setting up his stall still with the arrangement. He eyed the prince but said nothing about him not paying yet, the prince slipped a few coins with the queen's likeness on it on the table. The vendor would smile taking them and bowing slightly. His eyes roamed to her arm where the bite was, it lingered there for a few moments.

Crevan stood at the front of the vessel as it bobbed on the water. The sound of the rowers loud as the boson yelled at them to put their backs into it. His eyes focused on the smaller island before them. " Sir we have yet to sail to this island in a thousand years. Why now?" The second in command asked standing at least an arm's length away from Crevan. The rumor was the temperament had changed of the General had changed. He was twice as hard on recruits than before, and his soldiers had to be perfect. Just like when his wife had first died he had all most run them all into the ground with drills. So all the tension was back, and the island that he forbid anyone to travel on for any reason at all was now their destination.
It seemed a clouded storm was suddenly and rapidly growing over the island. The dark lush jungle darkening by the cloud cover, a crack of lighting broke over the island slamming to the ground in several key spots on the island. His second in command jumped at the loud crack that boomed, Crevan remained motionless till he turned slightly to look him over. " Do you fear what we are about to do?" The soldier looked pale but didn't answer. Crevan tore his attention from him to watch the island as they approached. The sound of the cracking whip could be heard and the screams of the rowers.

Sarah didn't mind the break of their hand-holding. It was probably because of the warm day and the slight sweat that must have been on her palm. She'd pull away too. So she moved both her hands to her front, interlocking her fingers as she perused what the vendors had today. "Oh, I'm fine with whatever. Just so long as we don't have to go back into the palace walls anytime soon." This was followed by a soft laugh, showing that although she and Anya had been cooped up in there for what seemed like forever, she didn't outright hate the building.
She jumped a bit at Julian's voice, not at all expecting it. And shortly after, her heart fluttered for a few moments. Every time he was near, her chest became tight. With the knowledge of his noticable ... "noticing" of her, she was sure. Her cheeks flamed, as if a fire had been lit within her, each time he so much as smiled her way. In the mortal realm, she had never been the one to be remotely interested in. Now, in this realm not only was she being "noticed" it was because of Julian. Either he was doing it or it was Adisa and visiting ladies glaring becaus of his "noticing".
She didn't know how she should take it. So she tried her best to avoid him without seeming rude. Occassionally, he would be her dance partner in lessons (not by her choice, really, but she couldn't really say no to the prince). This was not a situation she couldn't really get herself out of, so she took the burn of his "noticing" in stride (her etiquette classes do, indeed, come in handy. And boy, was she glad for them). As he took a bite from the apple, she turned her gaze briefly to his face, seeing his eyes too gorgeous to be fair for any boy to have before her own eyes looked at the juice from the apple that caught at the corner of his mouth.
Then she looked away before it could actually be called staring. Heaven forbid it; otherwise she'd have a mob of angry people running after her.
The bite should have healed by now, Sarah thought. After all, it had been a while since being in the Faerie realm. But she wasn't sure. No, she didn't catch Julian staring at it. Actually, most days she forgot all about it. Sarah didn't think much of it, really. Other than the fact that because of the venom that was in her, it was there as evidence that in some way, she caused Crevan's crying. Okay, so that she couldn't forget. It tore her up inside when there were no lessons (magic or otherwise).
Sarah didn't make a move to cover it. "How are you, today, Your Highness?"

Felicity didn't think that she would hear from her closest cousin ever since she was practically shunned, much less the matriarch of her family.
Yet, dressed in a plain dress and her feet bare, she sat on the edge of her bed in one of the many rooms of the castle, an expression of shock on her face while she tried to process what she had read in the spidery script of her great-grandmother Aine:
Dearest Felicity,
It has been so long since I've seen your face. And for that, I wish Time would turn back so that I can see it once more.
While I wish that this letter was for the sole purpose of imploring you to come home, I must keep it short. I know where Aideen has hidden the book. For the longest time, it has been in France, where her youngest son Simon kept it locked away until his death. Now, it is with her doppelganger. Her great-great-granddaughter Jewel heals with the Earth, just as Aideen had. While I am happy to see that my sister's legacy has not been completely demolished by that wretched being, I must get that book, since she is a shifter and lives apart from us. {Insert specific place here} to be more precise.
You may rest easy now; His Majesty King Oberon is no longer interested in Sarah, instead has latched onto Jewel's likeness of Aideen.
With Love, Aine
She didn't know how long she sat there, but suddenly, as if a fire had been lit beneath her, she stood up quickly and slipped a pair of slippers on. Excitement hummed, along with nervousness and a dash of giddiness, within her veins. Even though Aine didn't promise that Oberon had merely forgotton the promise that was made, nor did Felicity like how Oberon was going for another of her family, the book had been found. Vital information that had been lost for ages, yet still in the hands of her family, finally brought to light by Aideen's spitting image.
She had to go tell her hosts.

Julian would chuckle before finishing the apple in a few more bites before tossing it into a basket. " I am fine this morning. Taking a break from my own lessons. " He had a hard time seeming to tear his eyes from the bite mark that had yet to disappear. It was not a marking yet it stayed, he couldn't smell his claim. Though he was still cautious about it, being Crevan's Sarah had so much she was privy to. He assumed at least. " The both of you, are you shopping?"Anya was watching her friend all most drool over the prince and could not help but bite her lip to keep from giggling. " Well, I figured we pick up a few ingredients and then the rest is up to Sarah. " Julian seemed to ignore Anya which she was used to by now, she knew he heard her; but he had deemed that it wasn't worth the effort to respond.
Alister had stopped to sniff a flower from the flower shop the woman smiling at him as he placed a few coins down. She took them and bowed her head, she had a symbol on her forehead that spoke she worshiped demons. He had been stopping by her shop for a while, and she had taken up the nasty little habit when he had stopped a man from robbing her stand. He strolled slowly towards the group listening to the babble around him. He stopped by Sarah putting the flower in her hair," Ladies I will remind you that today will be very busy in a few hours since all the new produce has come in. Means that pickpockets will be out thick as thieves, while the city shops. So no rush but don't a doddle to much. " He would turn to the Vendor placing an order with him for the castle very hush manner. He disliked the little shit of a prince for his subtle way of trying to gain Sarah. He preferred a direct approach. He had seen his little witch hiding watching the group, and he rather disliked the green jealousy in her eyes.

Laina would sigh softly as she stared at the throne as whispers became a harsh loud whisper in her mind, the call was great to her to sit once more upon the structure. She was snapped from her reverie when her husband's arms slowly went around her, she took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. " Good morning " She whispered softly. He leaned down brushing his lips across her neck before planting a soft kiss, " Good morning. You are not ready, you haven't rested enough." He was worried she had become only weaker as of late even though she did not sit as often as she had been. The light in her eyes had dimmed as well, leaving a sickly color to them; yet she always smiled at him. Her laugh was light but strained,m" Oh you always worry too much. Don't let anyone see that, you must be strong. " Her hand was surprisingly icy more than usual. It only made his heart hammer with fear the scent of it filling the room.
It hit Laina like a truck before her eyes became concerned, turning she reached up to cup his face gently" Shhh, I am alright " She said in a whisper, she stood up on her tiptoes gently placing a kiss on his lips. " We will have a guest soon. " She was referring to Felicity she could feel the woman's presence not far. He stiffened slightly and pulled away from her schooling his features.

The ship had shore men pulling it further into the beach by rope. Crevan's footsteps took him into the jungle without hesitation, the calls of the wilds brimming around him till silence. That gave him pause, she knew they were there before they had set foot on the shore. A sliver of doubt and fear shimmed up his spine before he squashed it like a bug under his heel. His two commanders followed behind him, he could smell the fear rolling off them. This gave him a sickening feeling, that his soldiers were that weak to feel fear over a witch.
The island inhabitants had started worshiping the woman as a demigod, her wrath was something feared by the human's that they used like cattle when witches had been scares and or hard to find. When the scarcity had ended the island had become forgotten. Or at least set aside till now, the caretakers of the island had been sending reports for years that were ignored. Now the reports had ended after the last letter sent, it had stated that the woman had grown in power taking over the island. Since vampires were right up there with werewolves and hard to kill, he had to take action to see why the reports had stopped.
Moving through the thick lush jungle with his force, he moved towards the first village. It reminded him of the Aztec's the way they sacrificed human body parts to their gods, which was now the witch. He sighed smelling the rot of death as they passed the warning that alerted all who entered the territory. That death would likely befall them and that they should enter at their won peril. This did not dissuade him in the least, his men seemed weak as most lost their meal to the smell. He had seen many years of death and the smell affected him not.

Sarah took notice of the lack of response of Julian. It seemed like a palpable silence. Did it irritate her? Of course; Anya responded to Julian, but he didn't acknowledge her. If she were so bold, she'd ask if he'd taken etiquette lessons, and if not she'd comment about how it was rude not to speak with Anya. But she wasn't bold. She stood straighter, making her feel as if she actually belonged among the buyers and the vendors. Her self-confidence had yet to grow (she still relied on her glamour to hide her ears and dragon skin), nor did she feel like having the future king's wrath upon her.
But how do you show your displeasure without making someone mad at you in return?
This was why she couldn't say no.
"Maybe we could go see the theatre troupe after we drop our ingredients off at the castle and look around a bit?" Sarah's suggestion was angled more toward Anya, of course. But she didn't outright block Julian from answering.
She was given a baby blue dress to wear. It was long, of course, covering her walking boots. The sleeves were loose, letting her skin breathe (which was good in this warmth). The corset wasn't actually as tight today as it should be, giving her lungs ample room to breath as well. The dress wasn't as gorgeous as her birthday gown, but she liked it well enough.
The one bad thing was that there weren't any pockets.
Her money was in a very small bag tied to her wrist. Just under the general hum of the marketplace, she heard the coins clink along with her charms. She didn't pay much mind to it, until Alister popped beside them. Sarah was used to his sudden appearances, so the only response was "Great," in a deadpan tone. A hand snaked her her coin purse surreptitiously, sighing.
Then she caught sight of Julian staring at her (she really need to stop glancing at him). Or really, staring at the bite mark. It actually … made her self-conscious. She had debated on putting a fresh bandage on it. But due to the fact that the scabs weren't peeling, she let it be. Now, she wished she did. The inside of her elbow was pressed against her side as she looked away from Julian and toward Alister.
"Who's the flower for?"
**
As she grew closer to the throne room, she slowed considerably. What was Felicity doing? The king and Queen didn't know about Aine. Or about how her family had only one tome that they all shared, and it had been lost until just now. The only bit of information that they'd be interested in was that Aine was positive Sarah wasn't in Oberon's line of sight. Other than that … she shook her head and slightly crinkled the paper.
She was sure that the rulers had more important things to do. She should just turn back now.
Then she heard her name being announced. And the door to the throne room opened wider. Now she couldn't turn away. The only option was to curtsy until they acknowledged her. Thankfully the king and Queen wasn't hateful to make her wait in that curtsy. And when she stood back up straight and tall, she said, "I was finally sent word from my family."
Which was kind of a shocker, really.

Julian smiled lightly seeing the fire in Sarah's eyes, he turned to Anya a second later and smiled." Always thinking? You plan well. If you need anything put it on my tab and the castle will pay for it. " Anya didn't falter on smiling and doing a low curtsey. She didn't rise, however." Thank you, Prince." Her response surprised him. He figured she would have had a snide comment, but she merely thanked him. " Rise, Anya, no need for that. " He said softly turning his eyes back to Sarah, " I sadly do not have proper lessons today. But I do have training. Army and all that " He said with a sort of a bored tone.
" Ladies do enjoy your day" He then bowed low before turning and walking back towards the castle. Alister sighed and muttered some words left unheard about the prince, Sarah's question had him smiling"For you, of course, M'Lady" He chuckled, he had, after all, put it in her hair. He slowly moved to another vendor to order more things for the castle hoping to get most of the fresh goods. He kept his eyes on the prince's Witch till she walked away.
Anya smiled " Oh don't worry that won't the last of you seeing the prince. Do you think he wants to court you?" She asked Sarah as she slowly trailed behind Alister looking over each stall.
~*~*~~*~*~
Laina would smile turning to Felicity and curtsying in return." Good morning dear Felicity what brings you to the throne room this early?" The woman despite the ill turn of her skin smiled as brightly as the sun. Damien moved from his wife and bowed to Felicity " Would you like to join us for breakfast?" He asked with a small smile, being polite. He could tell she was excited or surprised by something. Though what he could not tell. He wanted to know more as he would think his wife would.
" Yes, that would be wonderful. You will join us yes?" She seemed overly excited about the idea, her brow was slightly sheened with sweat and her eyes sunken in slightly. Though her attitude never diminished, her husband, however, could not keep from glancing to her often in great worry.

Moving into the center of the village seeing that the doors open and items strewn across the ground, he assumed it was vacant. A strange ash covered the ground and buildings, kneeling he drug his fingers across the ground feeling the texture of it. The grit told him that it was previously flesh, " This is strange" He whispered to himself more than the men around him who were checking the buildings.
Stepping toward the path leading to the jungle once more he stopped seeing bones littering the path of animals with symbols made from black tar scaring the path before the jungle. He could tell the series for being what the witches used. for their magic, he had assumed that the Newly acclaimed goddess had decided to the end the village.
He walked past into the jungle brush before heading for the mountain ridge, his men followed slowly sweeping around with their polearms held out before them ready for an attack to happen.

Sarah was thoroughly convinced that these vampires were mind readers. All that she thought was how rude it was of Julian to not say anything to Anya, and there he was, not only saying stuff to her but offering the castle's tab. Sarah was shocked and slightly embarrassed. Here she was, thinking poorly of the prince. If she had been anywhere else, or if the prince had been ... dictatorial, he probably would have demanded her head. She was thankful he wasn't like that.
"Um ... enjoy yours, too." She finished lamely, before taking her cheek between her teeth and gently gnawing on it. It was a bad habit that she needed to break. Not only was it harmful but it could attract unwanted attention. But she couldn't help it. Thankfully, she understood the dangers, and never broke the skin like she used to.
((I overlooked the part where Alister put the flower in her hair. lol otherwise she wouldn't be so oblivious.))
The burn from her cheeks cooled a bit, and she smiled softly at Alister. "Thank you," she said to him. She had only caught a glimpse of it before he put it in her hair, and it was quite beautiful. For a few seconds, she watched him doing castle business. And in those seconds, she wondered about her Master. What was he doing at this moment? She hoped he wasn't having any nightmares because of her.
Anya's voice jerked her back to reality, and she turned her head to look at her friend again. "What? Oh." The thought of Julian courting her was like ... looking at flying pigs. Other than the occasional unintentional rudeness (like all other people) Julian was a very nice person, and no doubt would be a good king for the Isles when his parents stepped down. But Julian, who had dozens of girls and a few guys falling at his feet, actually wanting to court her? Sarah would admit to herself that she used to dream of being whisked away from her home by a hot guy from the place that she used to call home (not that she didn't love her parents). But now that this was her reality now, whishing for something like that is not only a child's fantasy, but dangerous.
"No," she answered with emphasis, drawing her brows together while shaking her head a bit. "Nooooooo. What makes you say that?" Although it did make her heart go aflutter with the thought (she's read books. And she will admit that she's always wondered to be what a guy wants, despite the attention he has from other, more obviously pretty, women) of being courted by a prince, she knew that that was not what was in store for her. She is not fit to be a princess, let alone a queen. She wasn't up for all of the hateful stares from Julian's fanclub. Besides, she belongs to Crevan, and she liked Crevan.
**
Felicity blinked. She hasn't had a ruler bow to her before. It wasn't something that she was used to. The only thing that she could think of in response was to curtsey again. This time lower. "I would love to join you, Your Majesties. Over breakfast I would love to tell you the news I received."
She looked up from her curtsey, straightening. With concern, she looked at Laina. Was the queen not feeling well? Laina looked paler than usual. Well, not so much as pale as gray. And her eyes were so sunken in it kind of looked like she was talking to a skull. Felicity knew it was because of that evil chair. They needed to get her off of it. They needed to destroy it.
But Felicity knew without a backup plan, that chair would be staying.

Anya could not help but giggle softly behind her hand as she watched Sarah," What makes me think that you both like each other. Perhaps not, in the same way, well the man simply can not keep his eyes off of you. " She shook her head turning whisper something to the herb stall owner. " And you melt every time he even looks at you. " She said softly taking a brief moment to look at her friend.
" I mean he is handsome... but definitely not my type. " She said with a soft sigh, " Nothing wrong with liking someone. Or taking a look. " She frowned and looked at her friend for a longer moment before clicking her tongue a little. " Oh, Is it because you're afraid your Master won't approve?" She sucked in a breath and made a face as she gently played with a finger in a nervous sort of fashion. " Sorry. I ...I overstepped " She had not thought before she spoke, she hoped she had not offended her friend.
Alister shook his head but tried to ignore the conversation, He was trying to shop and keep an eye on the crowd that seemed to be growing thicker as the morning moved on toward noon. He hoped they would not earn themselves some trouble for how long it was taking. He knew he should have rushed them out of the castle this morning. But he was told not to interfere with Sarah less it was to keep her alive and away from others that sought her.
~*~~*~*~*~*~*~
Laina would smile gesturing for her to return in which she had come. Slowly moving out of the throne room she headed for their private dining hall. Her husband smiled " You have news? Please tell me it is good news" He had no idea as to what kind she might have received. He had thought she was a refugee from the fate that had been given her from her family.
Liana would slow down a little more once she reached the hall. " Well, surely it is. She seems excited though nervous. " Her nose flared slightly as her delicate hands touched the doorway. She only paused briefly before walking inside, her gait was that of someone that might be dying from the lack of thirst in the desert.
When she reached the table she sat down rather quickly and closed her eyes as if trying to regain some strength. As if sensing her distressing state her Witch seemed to appear out of thin air beside her. Her hand would stop him from assessing her, she smiled at him and waved her hand as if to dismiss him, however, he did not move.
~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~
The screeching of a bird drew the attention of the soldiers but left Crevan unwavering in his destination. The distance gapped between them became far too large, the men got a little surprise. The runes that looked as if they were made of tar seemed to go up in flame burning the men. It was hotter than molten lava leaving only a few behind, fear became a thick smell in the area. So much so it almost made Crevan choke on it.
He knew how the ash was attained before, pressing on he left no thought to the fallen men. He had his full attention at his task at hand. The remaining men kept close to the General, moving along the old stones that were used as a path in the jungle. They had faded so much that one couldn't really tell it had been a path at one time. He frowned seeing the falling apart temple that seemed to be being repaired. He saw humans removing crumbling stone and trying to replace it with another.
Seeing his target standing at the top of the man steps had him pausing shortly, the look in her eyes even from that distance was unmistakable. It was short lived till she smiled brightly slowly moving down the steps, a large anaconda slithered beside her towards the bottom. " What brings you to my Island?" Crevan did not smile or move as she approached. " The caretakers.." She made a hissing noise before sucking a breath only to let it out in a short laugh.
" I am the new caretaker. You may leave. " Her fingertips seemed to light on fire and the men stepped back a bit, however, Crevan had not moved an inch. " That will not happen, do you recall the last one to claim demi-god status?" Her eyes flicked to him before she laughed it sounding sickeningly sweet like honey. " Oh, dear Crevan. It is just a bit of fun, besides your lot doesn't need them. Why let them go to waste?"
Watching her carefully for a moment before he decided to take a step forward. " You know why. I am not above killing you. I despise killing women. But if you find yourself a demi-god then I won't view you as such any longer. " She pursed her lips listening to him speak, then narrowed her eyes. She crossed her arms slowly. " I can not help what they think. "
" That is not good enough answer. " She held up a hand when he went to unsheath his sword. " Fine. " She held out her hand's to be shackled. " Fine, take me away" The snake had disappeared leaving worry in the pit of his stomach. Though it lessened when he saw the tattoo that slithered about her body.

There was an uncharacteristic snort that came from Sarah. One that, if she had been at least half-dragon, smoke would have curled in thick gray puffs from her nostrils. The snort was sort of from amusement. Of course, she knew of Julian's "noticing". And, yeah, she was flattered. Even so, she was sure that he was just being nice. Why else would he notice her? She was just his uncle's pet who just so happened to be staying at the castle for now.
At least, that's what she told herself. Because she's like to forget the stares from Julian's fan club.
Sarah was still unused to the culture, thus she didn't think her friend overstepped anything. Then again, while she and Anya talked about practically anything, they didn't speak about what they did for their masters. Did any witch here? She had been given the impression that they did anything for their masters. That meant anything. If Crevan made her do something that she normally wouldn't do (considering she wouldn't share the bed with him, there were a lot of things she wouldn't normally do), she didn't want to tell the world.
Then Sarah got to thinking … did Anya know something about Crevan that Sarah didn't? Did Crevan not like her, and that's why he left in a brusque way? Was it the fact that everyone in the other realm kept calling her Aranel? In her mind there were many different reasons for him not to like her all of a sudden. All of them irrational, yes. But she didn't stop thinking them until Anya apologized for 'overstepping'.
"No, it's fine." Sarah shook her head a bit, trying to stave off her worrying. Then she smiled, rubbing her fingers together to soothe the tingling sensation she got from getting upset. "To be honest, I don't know if Master would care or not. Regardless, even if he was interested in me, I'm hardly the person he should be courting."
Something in the corner of her eye flashed. A passerby's shiny necklace. A passing thought of going to the jewelry shop came and went, and then she offered to help carry the ingredients.
***
Felicity's worry about what the king and Queen thought about her letter quickly passed, replaced a few seconds later with worry for Laina. She knew how close the queen had gotten with her daughter, and knew that if something happened Sarah would be highly upset. Not only that, but the queen had been nothing but kind to Felicity. Felicity couldn't bear to see a (dare she say) friend of hers like this.
She smiled reluctantly when Laina guessed her mood, and waited for King Damien to sit before she herself sat. She straightened out the paper Aine wrote on before folding it, then setting it on her lap. The smile faded a bit, and she took a deep breath before starting (with the rulers' permission, of course), "My family has a large book that has all of our spells and information in it." That information included demon-related things. Who they were and how NOT to somehow get under their power. But she didn't think it was important. "It is the only book we use, and it's been missing for a while. About three hundred years. The matriarch of my family finally lifted the shun she had on me to write that it was finally found.
"Not only that, but King Oberon - I'm told – has his eyes set somewhere else, and now has no care for Sarah." She was so glad for that. "Although I am sure he's still angry with the deal that was made about her." She laughed awkwardly. Then continued. "But the book is what I'm more concerned about. This could actually boost Sarah's strength. She'd need it, since her affinity is in a different realm altogether."

Anya shook her head a little thinking about what Sarah might be, she began to walk down the road lined with stalls heading for the shops. " Well, by the steady change in your facial expression's tells me it is not. " She said softly, her voice full of guilt of what she might have set in motion in her friends head. " You do realize that being the General of the army. That he may very well be swept away at any time, right?" She had seen the change in her since he left. And you could see in her eyes how much she missed him for what reason was unknown to as why. As far as Anya could gleam they had not been intimate, but Crevan was much different than the rest. Handing her friend a few of the ingredients she was carrying with her before smiling she would shrug" A witch that doesn't worry about her Master isn't a good witch " She said not really to her but more of a statement, because that is what she told herself when her master would disappear and no one knew where he was. Not even her. Alister slowly moved to the left side of the road as if heading for a stall. His path changed in a flash shoving the hooded man against the wall a blade to his throat," Quick before I spill your blood..." He hissed. The man remained calm staring at the demon's eyes, " I mean no harm. Just looking to get a feel for my buyers." Alister let up only briefly to slam him against the wall again the adobe cracking and chipping off around him.
" I do not play games. Keep your eyes off the Generals slave..." He knew that he was eyeing them both. " They are not up for sale. Or capture. " The man did not make a move to shove him off. " As I said before getting a feel for what type my buyers like. I am here to sell not steal. " He shoved him off than before adjusting his cloak and shirt. Alister hissed seeing the item he used to gain standing. " Slavers are not allowed to sell within the city. We like to capture our own. Or buy outside the sanctuary. " The man smiled stepping toward him, " I sell all types. Talking about it is not forbidden. If they buy they can come and retrieve what is theirs.. outside the city. " He pushed past him bumping his shoulder into him before following Anya and Sarah from out of the darkness of the alley where they had been. Alister was not far behind him, he had a burning desire to make him disappear. But rules were rules; he could not harm anyone with a direct threat to either of the women he guarded at the moment.
The man was dressed in straps with bone weaved into a chest plate that let his abdomen show through, his hood was pure white with the bottom edge braided in golden tassels. His waist was covered by what seemed to be fur wrapped in a leather, what seemed to be bound by leather straps with a dagger hanging from it and corded rope with a face made of bone. His pants where a black material that seemed to breath easy, his boots where thigh high and held together with tight straps of leather. Most of his armor had bone in it, and his weapons where all daggers. His black hair dusted by the sand from his travels, he looked young despite the way he carried himself.

The king pulled a stool near his wife's chair and sat next to her," Please tell us what is on the letter " He said seeing as how his wife could yet voice it, he did it for her. She smiled when he did so and nodded. They seemed to listen intently to what she had to say despite the lack of energy Liana seemed happy to hear the news about the other king. And even so more about finding somthing that could help Sarah strengthen her self, though her husband seemed less then happy about the young witch gaining more power before her training was complte. Being as he was he said nothing on it, his eyes flicked to the witch who seemed to be overly concerned for his Mistress. Liana slipping forward to lean on the table a little would reach across to pat Feclity's hand. " Anything you need to retrive it only ask. " She said her voice sounded winded along with a crackling sound deep in her chest. Damien would nod his head " Yes as my wife said anything you will need to retrieve it. You but only have to ask. We want to help as much as we can. " The witch made a turse short laugh that turned into a cough at what the king had said.
Liana shifted slightly as the servernts started to bring in food to be eaten. her eyes slowly closed as if she might fall asleep. Her viens started to show a deep black as her eyes opened again the look of them where black even where the white of her eyes should be. Her breathing became easy as her hands spread around the table slowly. " Danger approuches.." Her voice was barely above a whisper. Damian stood slowly before looking at the witch who merely nodded before disappearing. His hand would gently rest upon his wife as if keeping her steady as her hands continued to move along the table as if searching for something. Her eyes would clear after a moment, she seemed to have recovered some of her strength. If only for this moment in time. " Enjoy your breakfast ladies. " He bowed before moving away from his wife. The connection he had with her gave him the ability to see what she did, there connection was deeper then most arranged marriages of their kind. He moved off to find the image he had recived during her search. Liana would smile faintly as if trying to ease what ever Felicity might feel about her 'episode'." Please tell me more about this book" She said softly her viens slowly turning back to the normal state.

He lead her with his last few men from the stroop he had taken from the ship with him, heading slowly back through the jungle. Crevan kept waiting for her attempt to escape through the journey it was taking no time at all. It wasnt long before they were standing on the beach. When she stepped willingly into the small boat to be rowed out to the ship that had been pushed back by the tide had him watching her more carefully. This was to easy half expecting a fight he had now only felt a nervousness that normally had never accompanied him ever. Once they were on the boat and sailing away she smiled, lifting up her hand she blew into it and black dust flew from it. Crevan watched in horror as the island seemed as if it light afire and then exploded before sinking below the waves. Her laughter was short as he ripped her up by her arm. " Oops " She said softly before a devilish smile tipped her lips. He dropped with a hiss. " Wench " He growled walking away from her. He would have to report the loss of land and live stock to the king. He was starting to wonder if bringing her back was a bad idea, he was starting to think he should of just killed her.
She had the look as if her plan was moving into motion with out any effort, it had been a while since she had seen the queen. " It will be a night to remember seeing the queen again " Crevan froze only for a moment before moving on with out acknowlaging her. She waited for him to move out of sight before she removed the cuffs and leaned on the railing of the ship watching the waves splash against the boat as it sailed agaisnt the harshness of the waves. She noticed the wide birth most of the men gave her, she wondered if they believed the suppsion of a woman abourd a ship. She knew most likely it had to do with the way she killed with fire.

"Yeah, I know." When she realized that her shoulders were slumping, she straightened them out again. A proper lady didn't speak like how she had just spoken, "yeah" instead of "yes". But this time, she let it slide, knowing that she needed to catch it before she did it again. It wasn't like she was afraid that Anya would judge her; Anya saw her in a shirt and a pair of jeans, being auctioned off like cattle. Sarah felt that no matter what she looked like or how she sounded, she'd still call Sarah her best friend.
She let her hands be filled, her lips quirking up in a smile in response to Anya's. "I will take that to heart," she said, nodding decisively. Then she laughed lightly, shaking her head. "I'm afraid I will have gray hair before I turn twenty at this rate." But she knew that worrying about where Crevan goes isn't exactly what she was worried about (until now). Why couldn't he have just taken her with him? Why was he so ... brisk when he left? Where did he go? Is he all right? When in the world is he coming back? She bit her top lip, not hard to draw blood, though. She was beginning to fidget. Her mind was racing ninety-to-nothing. Sarah knew that she need to quit before she gave herself gray hair by next year. But not a single thing halted it before a feathered fan blew cool wind on her face.
Wide eyed, her gaze landed on a trio of women in brightly-colored leotards, their faces covered with equally beautiful masks that were in the shape of animals. As they wove through the crowd, they danced to the music played on a pipe, the owner of said pipe moving along with them with a playful light in his eyes. With the feathered fans, they brought cool wind to the people they were passing by. One giggled at the face of a flustered man. When the music faded away, following the group, she felt better, lighter, and had the strange urge to dance herself.
Casually, she looked around again, worries momentarily forgotten. At the lack of sight of Alister, she drew her brows together. "Where did Alister-" She twisted her body slightly, so as not to hurt her neck as she continued her search behind her, She didn't have to look much longer, because she found him. And ten found the person that Alister was staring intently at. Her brows drew together again, confused this time before looking at Alister briefly before turning around again.
Her glamour stuttered at the tightening in her chest, revealing briefly that she wasn't just a witch, but a mutt of three species. Her hands tightened on the ingredients, her top lip back in her mouth before leaning a bit towards Anya. "Do you know who that is behind us?" she whispered.
***
Felicity was still concerned. And as she sat there, she was more concerned with each passing second. One could tell in her voice that she was, reciting the letter from heart (from how many times she's read and analyzed it). When she was finished, she set her lips in a grim line, wanting to pat Liana's hand just as she had to Felicity. If only there was some way to strengthen Liana. And she was about to say that what she needed was for Liana to get better. Her chest tightened, not out of fear, as she mentally shook away that desire to speak what she thought. "Nothing that can't wait," she replied, her fingers tingling with her high emotional state of worry. Soon, she knew that sparks will fly. She would have guilt following her if she asked for anything, even when it came to Sarah. Because Sarah wouldn't like it for Liana and Damien to do something that was out of their way.
Felicity felt herself tense, seeing Liana's episode happen before her eyes. Surely, there was a physician loitering around in the palace? Shouldn't he be sent for? Could he do anything for the queen? Felicity just knew that it was because of that blasted throne. The one created from dark magic. She had to put her hands under the table to hide the sparks and how her fists clenched, ready to spring into action - any type of action - if need be. "This book contains all of our spells," she started out slowly. "The ones that are more complex, not easy to remember and pass to our children like the realm-traveling spell. Or anything having to do with the element that we have an affinity for. For around three hundred years, my family hasn't been as strong as it used to be. We have had to take our boys and train them to protect us from demons that ... would like to see us dead. Even with them, our family still has to rely on the Seelie Court for protection, seeing as how our guide hasn't been easy to locate."
She was glad to see the veins going back to normal, but she knew that Liana wasn't a spring chicken anymore. "Maybe we could have Jewel, the woman mentioned in my grandmother's letter, come with the book? And to also see if she can help you, Your Majesty, if I may be so bold."

Anya had her attention caught by performers; at least what she assumed were performers. The colors and face masks reminded her of a ball that had been held inside the castle a few years back, she shook her head clearing her thoughts when she heard her friend speak. She turned again her long dress turning with a sharp swish at the movement. Placing her hand over her eyes to shield them from the sun of the day. The man stuck out like a sore thumb so he was quick and easy to spot among the feathered and pampered high-class people shopping. He looked directly into her eye's making her face flush slightly. His eyes scared her seeming deep and endless, she looked away only after he set his eyes on Sarah. She would turn her back to him, " Some one we want to avoid.." Her voice was careful and calm. " He buys and sells flesh. " She said with a curt laugh noticing his aura was only coming closer, grabbing her arm gently she would try and pull her into the crowd. His steps moved into a more quick pattern when he heard Alister rush towards him again. Moving aside only to be confronted by him as he slides like smoke in front of him. " Boy, I suggest you find some one else to speak to..." The man only smiled staring past him, the look on Alisters face shaped into anger at being ignored. When his hand snapped out to grab his throat the man was gone, surprising Alister he had to have a look around.
The speed in which he moved spelled otherworldly heritage, slipping past the demon was only short lived when he felt his eyes on him again. Having to live with what he had glimpsed of the two women he would leave the area letting the demon calm his nerves before he would try again at a later part of the day. Turning into 'The Alehouse of Witches' the door swinging open as the music would flood out only briefly. Several patrons turned to look at the door as it slammed shut, one lifting a mug to his lips downing the drink watching the man walk across the floor towards the bar. " Get him a pint of milk Siri " The rough man laughed his yellowed teeth showing as he bellowed a loud laugh. The woman curled her lip in a small silent growl at the drunk patron, she would smile however to the young man. " What can I get you?" she said taking a clean cloth to grab up a glass and wipe it down setting it before him.
Her eye brow quirked up when he didn't speak right away, but that smile; it had her focused on him for a moment too long. Iris slapped her hand on the counter. " My Sister asked you a question!" she stated loudly snapping Siri out of her trance. " An ale please. any will do"He said his smile still branded for the rough woman opposite her sister. The woman would seem to ignore him as she slapped a towel over her shoulder. " Men" She mumbled before heading into the back dragging her sister with her. Another bar wench would serve up his ale before going about her business.
~*~*~*~
Damien listened to Felicity before he would move away from them, he was ready to try anything to keep his wife alive." This woman is a healer?" He asked, Liana, would sigh softly as she shifted a little" How will this healer be any different?" She said softly sounding defeated and tired of all the attention but her attitude quickly changed seeing the concern on Facilities face and she would sweetly smile" I ..am sorry yes if you think it will help" She said softly, " I just wish no one have harm coming to anyone." She would rise slowly her husband turning watching her as she moved to the throne room." Please if you think some one can help her I will be forever in your debt" His eyes were fierce as he looked into Felicities. " I will pay any amount of money or do any thing to keep her alive. " His voice sounded angry as he followed her the throne room slipping open as she came close the throne had turned a dark black from the white with gray stained marble. She slowly walked to it as it seemed to throb large black vines growing off it at a rapid rate. Her hand would touch the arm rest the blackness would slip back slowly as she moved her fingers tips slowly over it trying to soothe its temper. Her eyes looking all most dead, as she whispered to it before sitting down the marble becoming normal again as she rubbed it softly. Her husband stood by the door his hair hanging in front of his face his mouth twisted in anger.
" I give you free reign Felicity do what you can, it" He said before shutting the door to the throne room from the dining hall. The castle it's self-seemed like a maze, one room would be connected to a door and the next you open it would be connected to another. Like a labyrinth.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Though the day passed normally in the kingdom of Liana the sea was a different story, it had been several weeks in what would be considered a normal hour. Crevan had avoided the witch but the men had become to forget the horrors she could produce with illusions and tricks. Now she sat at a table her clothing different than when they found her. She wore a revealing kimono as she cackled as she dragged bones across the table, it was a sort of cash they used for a card game. " Come on boys " She purred in a sultry voice" One more time?" Her smile was enticing as she leaned on the table slipping her hand to grab the cards shuffling," what can it hurt?" One of the men said as she giggled and shelled out the cash again. They had been playing for fun. When ever they would reach port is when she would collect her winnings. The large tattoo of a snake on her was gone, her familiar or avatar slithering around the ship looking for things that could be used to her advantage if she had to escape before reaching the port. From the deck above she heard a man bellow from the crow's nest " Land Ho!!!!" She watched the men scatter running up the stairs screaming and hooting finally reaching the land once again.
She sighed throwing the cards on the table before sighing as she moved up the stairs after them her hips swaying as her outfit slowly turned back into the one before. Her long legs moved with purpose as she headed to the front of the ship." Move you wretches afore she hit the dock. Move the sails boys the spars and yards be quivering do not let her fall apart yet boys!!" The men would scramble as a squall swept through the waves tossing the ship, the barrier they broke through had the ship sailing smooth as they would tie up the main sail and coast for the dock. Her lips would curl into a smile as her snake moved along her back till it melded with her again, her smile faded as soon as she felt a different kind of chains bind her arms. " Let us bring you to the fair queen and you can explain what you have done. " Her magic seemed to sink away from her with them on, Crevan smile deepened into a nasty grin" Check mate " He would jerk her toward the side the walk would be.

VossSarah squinted one eye as she looked again at the man that followed them, this time not caring about straining her neck while the sun beat down at them. Only when the man looked at her did she whip her head back to the front at the same time Anya did, heart stuttering despite her friend's quiet, calm tone. There was a feeling - confusing as it was - that burrowed deep in her gut and spread all the way to her fingertips. "Oh," she said softly, trying for a casual tone that was like she was conversing about the weather. Then she dropped it a few moments after it was apparent there wasn't anything casual about being followed by someone that wasn't Alister. Especially if that someone was a trafficker. At first, she didn't understand what Anya had meant by "buys and sells flesh". A sick and twisted image of secretly passing swatches of actual skin back and forth popped into her mind before a metaphorical lightbulb switched on. "Oh," she said once more, this time with a bit more emphasis and a bit more panic. Sarah went deeper into the crowd without a protest, but she really couldn't help herself but ask, "Why would he follow us? We already ... " she tried to find a word that didn't sound as bad as "bought", but as she struggled to keep all of the ingredients in her hands while maneuvering the crowd, she decided to reword her reason why he shouldn't be. "We're protected by the royal family." At least, Anya was. Why would one of Crevan's soldiers get punished for drinking from Anya if she wasn't? The Law of the Mark was a strict law. People died for not following it. Despite her own lack of Mark, Sarah was still the General's witch. The soldiers knew it and kept a respectable distance. While Crevan is away doing God knows what, she stayed in the castle; maybe it was a bit presumptuous to say she herself was protected by the royal family, but surely knowing that she was the General's witch as well as becoming Queen Laina's student would make anyone steer clear. For a hot minute, she felt him get steadily closer, and she feared that the crowd couldn't keep them separated long enough for her and Anya to get away. But then ... he was gone. Once again, she turned her head, and she breathed a sigh of relief before turning around. She didn't slow her pace. In fact, she kept walking as fast as Anya was. She was eager to get back to the castle. *** It was good to get back into the swing of things. Dimitri pulled through, and she was so grateful. All four of her kids made it through their first shift - Jasper and Lucian without a hitch. Jasper just recently went on his first flight with Nate, learning about his newly-heightened senses and watching for the avian traps Andy laid out after Jackson infiltrated the Nightstar. Lucian did the same with Thea, ducking tree branches and splashing each other in the creek, yet making sure they steered clear of their mother's garden. Hallie was appalled at her shift. Felt wronged at how she couldn't shift properly. Was only slightly appeased that her great-grandfather had the same shift as her, but couldn't be too happy. After all, Grandpa Panos's shift was grotesque and nightmare-inducing. Did she look like that? With her elongated claws and height that surpassed her father's. Jewel sighed, shaking her head in her office at her daughter's worries for what seemed like the thousandth time. Then there was Dimitri, who had shifted into a ... half wolf-half bird hybrid. Jewel had to admit, but only to herself, that he looked like an unholy demon. She felt so bad for thinking that. But Dimitri did. Her little Demi ... she wanted to cry. He couldn't shift ever again, she told him, knowing that - as a shifter - that was almost like signing a death certificate. He understood, of course. At least, she hoped she did. Because if he did go against her wishes, then he surely will die. Jewel shifted some papers on her desk distractedly. So distractedly that if the envelope that was on her desk had felt the same as the others that she probably wouldn't have noticed. But it was ... thicker. She looked down, catching sight of the gold lining the flap of the envelope before it hid behind a dark red seal. Her fingers ran over it curiously eyebrows drawing together. "What's this?" she asked herself, turning it over. Then her eyebrows raised from their position, past their normal spot in surprise. In the center of the big rectangle, she read her name (which was written in beautiful calligraphy). She was kind of nervous to open it, but she did anyway, curiosity getting the best of her.

Anya let out a sigh of relief moments after the aura ceased to follow them, she felt something turn in his stomach. " I am not sure why he would come after the both of us, any who would try and steal us would be put to death if they were caught." She finally slowed down when the reached the area where they would definitely be seen if someone tried to snatch them she gently let go of Sarah's arm and looked as if she was sorry. " This is my fault. I should have brought someone to help carry things. " She bit her lip before looking at her friend's arm." Did I hurt you at all." She seemed worried that she might have gripped her too hard with the fear she had been feeling.
She looked past Sarah looking for Alister not seeing him made her fear peak for just a moment before looking to the gate. She would wave over a passing servant of the castle who would take the items from the girls. " Please take them to the queen's Caster chamber, please. " The servant would bow deeply before moving off with the items. Anya turns her attention back to Sarah. Alister slowly made his way through the crowd watching the people around him, he felt on edge since the dust-up with the strange visitor. He would adjust his butler bowtie before flushing out his clothes adjusting them. When reaching the edge seeing Anya and Sarah standing alone without the packages he would calm down slightly. Making his way towards them.
Wolf looked to the other bar wench paying for his drink and giving her a wink before he looked to the guy next to him. He would slide the glass over and smile. " Enjoy Friend" He would get up off the bar stool leaving the wench mesmerized before stepping out of the tavern. He looked around quickly before stepping into an alley nearby before he would jump pushing off the building several times making his way up the walls. Stepping out onto the roof looking down at his target, he smiled catching them in his sights even though the demon was with them he felt confident to be able to talk to them eventually.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Crevan would shove the witch towards the dock, her bindings would tighten more if she tried to struggle free form them. The men on the ship started to tie to the dock before running and hooping about having freedom for a bit. Crevan would shove her again before she fell hitting the dock, he growled watching her tattoo disappear the snake slithering off quickly before he could kill it. He would wrench her up from the floor by the back of her neck would make her laugh.
" Dear General there is nothing you or your precious queen can do to me."
She cackled before he moved his grab from her neck to her hair. He merely growled before shoving her forward listening to her laugh at him. He was losing his temper and knew he might kill her before ever reaching the palace if he didn't get it under control.
" Your bloodline is weak. Can you not see that?"
He would growl taking out another trick he had been given by the king's witch placing the run paper over her mouth. It silenced her and he was able to smile and relax not having to hear her rantings. This only further pleased him when she started to try and throw a fit. He would shove her again as they left the dock making way into the outer city. The group of onlookers would part be giving her a wide birth, as they moved they all parted like she was the plague that turned them to ash if they got close.

"No, of course not," Sarah assured her friend, taking a glance at her arm after the servant took the items that she had carried from her. The servant made it seem as if the things that she was carrying were merely feathers. She pursed her lips before biting her top lip again (it was starting to become a habit since her cheek was too raw, and she couldn't bite her cheek anymore anyway).
Sarah followed Anya's eyes to Alister, seeing the worry in his eyes but deciding to put it to the back of her mind. After all, the stranger was nowhere to be found. And as soon as they all got back to the castle she'll feel so much better. "Are we going back inside?"
***
Jewel read over the letter. Then she reread it. Then she read it again. "I have a distant cousin?" she asked herself, then scoffed as she flipped the thick parchment over to the back, where there were instructions on how to send back a response. "Of course I do. My family that supposedly is dead is now a prominent part of my life. Why wouldn't I have a distant cousin that lives in a different realm?"
But then, she started to have doubts. It looks legit, as her kids would say, but any self-respecting person who knew stranger danger would do some sort of self-preservation and research first. So she called up the only person she knew and hoped that it wasn't too late in France.
