The servant was quick to step on a round pattern on the floor of the palace as smoke puffed around him and he vanished from that spot. He would appear in a room with rows of crystals that glowed like they had their own light cascading the brightness on the number of ingredients on them. The servant would start to refill the baskets with the bought ingredients, he would jump seeing something out of the corner of his eye. A woman sat in a chair in the darkness, she would lean forward and gently run her finger slowly across her lips. In a show of silence, he would nod and move off quickly. She stood slowly her footsteps echoing off the stone chamber in one of the many towers, fingers gently drumming over things looking for something special. Her long blond hair bounced around her shoulders as she shifted to bend down, a necklace would fall out of her shirt. When it started to float her hand would jerk up and snatch it from the air putting it back down her shirt. Taking up a single flower from one of the baskets to her lips she would kiss it, her eye closing as she sniffed deeply. Her eyes though the beautiful royal color was hollow as she stared for the longest moment out the window. Her long legs moved her hips in a sultry way as she walked from the room putting the flower on her shirt. It came alive curling around her shoulder thorns growing off it.
Anya would nod " I thought you were eager to train? I mean it can wait if you want. " She said with a smile though she kept moving towards the palace doors. Alister put his hands inside his pockets" It is for the best I think. Until I know were they scoundrel got to. " He said his eyes scanning the crowd" Please?" He said watching her and the worry she had, he knew it was some self-guilt. He noticed that humans punished themselves in this manner, it suited that even though she wasn't human. She had been raised by some so the guilt alone would be associated with that. " Your Master will be home very soon." He said with a smile. Anya rolled her eyes at his statement, she was about to ask how he knew but thought better of it.
As Crevan stepped into a government building onto a round circle with a pattern in the middle before smoke flew up and he was teleported into the throne room. He did not see anyone making him feel a deep thread of worry that his sister had become ill. Shoving the witch down he would draw his sword before putting it to the back of her neck. " Perhaps I should pass your judgment. " from the silked shadows behind the thrown a blond woman stepped out from the thrown her hand gently gliding across the white and grey marble. He seemed shocked as the sword slowly lowered. " M-Mother?" He whispered. She would stare at him her finger gently moving across her lips as she mouthed shh. Moving slowly towards the Temptress stopping before her son's sword when he brought it up. A little smile twisting the corner of her lips, her finger would flick his sword away. " I am real. " She said in her soothing yet sultry voice. " Leave her with me."

Jewel stood between Panos (her grandfather) and Thea (her daughter), two of the physically strongest people she knew. When her husband finds out that she took off to an unknown realm, at least she could say that Panos and Thea were there to protect her. She knew that she could count on them to keep her safe.
As she walked with them on either side of her, she was hit with deja vu. This wasn't her first time in a place she didn't know; the first time she walked in pajamas, experiencing Quinn's culture in his realm with the second time helping the same man heal Azalea at the Tree of Life. The second time she had the same people with her now, with the exception of Nathaniel. Surely there wasn't going to be a hitch in her plan to do what she did best.
Even if she came into this realm - literally walking to the gated-off city - with a positive mindset, there were still negative thoughts niggling and wriggling in the back of her head. What if I can't heal this woman, who is an actual queen? Would they kill me, Grandpa, and Thea? It's a good thing I didn't let Nate go. But I didn't give him a choice - I left without saying anything. He won't know what happened to me.
As if knowing what she was thinking, she felt her grandfather's large hand come down gently on her shoulder and squeezed reassuringly. Jewel looked up and met his blue eyes. Under his beard she saw him smile. Bolstered, she smiled back and looked to Thea, who gave her a cheeky grin. "I'll tell Nate I forced you to go. That way he can't be mad at you."
That made her laugh before she shook her head. "We both know that man is too smart to believe that."
"I dunno, I can be pretty convincing."
When they finally came up to the drawbridge, they met the person that summoned Jewel here, with a smaller version of her. Thea tilted her head to the side, studying the blonde-haired girls with a hand on her hip, then looking at the guards that stood to either side of the entrance to the city. They looked rather young, no more than twenty for either of them.
"My name is Felicity," the one with deep blue pools for eyes said, giving a small curtsy. The second one followed, with a deeper bow and her head bowed before they both stood up straight again. "I'm so glad you answered, cousin."
Jewel nodded, giving a tentative smile. "I'm willing, but I can't promise anything. If the doctors from here don't know what to do, what makes you think I will?"
Felicity turned, and started walking toward the entrance, "You have our family book. With that, you can achieve anything."
***
Jewel was quick to answer, Felicity had marveled, and when she said that she was going to be in the realm later that day, Felicity was quick to grab Sarah from her duties so that they could wait for Jewel to arrive.
"Will she help Queen Laina?" Sarah asked after a bit of silence, worrying her top lip between her teeth.
"Yes," Felicity said it with so much conviction in her voice Sarah wanted to believe. "See, Jewel is the direct descendant of Aideen, the sister of the matriarch of our family, your great-great grandmother. Aideen was so strong in her magick that she added to the book and even perfected some spells that others have put in there. She was a healer as well, working with herbs to create things such as salves and potions. But she married a Frenchman. An Alchemist in fact, and moved to France afterward. She was heard from very rarely after that."
"Did she love him?" Sarah couldn't help but ask, not daring herself to sound wistful. But falling in love sounded so beautiful, and she couldn't wait for that day when she did.
"Oh, yes," Felicity had affirmed. "And they had children together. And grandchildren. And great-grandchildren. But ... they didn't get to meet the grandchildren."
"Do you know how they died?" It was obvious that they did. Maybe they were murdered. It sounded that way.
"I was told that they were cursed. I'm not quite sure the details. But I assume that Jewel will be in the same boat, if she already isn't."
"Oh, no!"
"Aye, I'm afraid." Then as she saw the portal open, she straightened and smiled. The book for her family was in plain sight. And of course, Jewel was there to help the queen. "It had been a demon that cursed them. So whatever you do, don't trust any demon too closely."
***
Jewel, Thea, and Panos walked close behind Felicity and Sarah, whom had been introduced after they were permitted inside. Immediately, the strong sense of smell each werewolf had picked up on scents they never smelled before as well as really familiar scents. To Thea and Panos, they were just scents. But Jewel used her nose in her career. She had closed her eyes, and took a few deep sniffs. "Is there by chance a way that I can peruse the stands afterwards?"
"I'm sure the king wouldn't mind," Felicity assured.
It didn't feel like a long walk, because it was as if - just as soon as Jewel had asked - they were at the castle. Jewel looked up, took a deep breath, and followed Felicity and Sarah inside, knowing that Thea and Panos were right behind her.

The massive city with its central marketplace was silent till you reach the center, then sound erupts loudly as each merchant stall has a cryer announcing whats for sale. Not to mention the many stores and taverns weaved through that area, Wolf 'The Dagger' White sat at a table drinking a morning brew of coffee and spirits. He watched his target walk through the marketplace with the others, this only further intrigued him about what might be happening in the castle today. He had seen in the distance the flash of the portal opening to this realm's planet. He sipped making a face at the bitterness before he leaned back in his chair waiting. When they reached the castle steps the guards would open the doors allowing them to enter to the large elaborate design along the doors metal and wooden surface opening. Once inside Alister was in view his tux fitting him as the stationed butler, he would bow to them." Greetings. I shall escort you to the King and queen." He seemed normal enough as he turned to show them the way. Stepping along the runner carpet that was equally as elaborate as the doors, the sigil of the house laid across the embodiment of the material.
When he reached a set of double doors he opened them to odd placement of another set of french doors. It looked as if it was out of place, he stood in the first doorway waiting for them to enter. He would only close it once they walked inside. It seemed as each door magically could lead them anywhere, which probably meant to confuse any who decided to invade. He would then walk to the french doors to open them, which lead out into a raised balcony of sorts with two stone steps on each side leading down to the ground. It looked more of a patio that allowed anyone to be seated to watch whatever may be happening below. Armel stood beside the wicker white seat where the queen sat in a shawl made of lama fur, his hands where behind his back holding his boe. Alister would stand to the side as he announced them. " Lady Sarah and Lady Felicity have brought Lady Jewel to see you. She is accompanied I assume by bodyguards. " Below on the ground were the King and a Noble. The king was standing as the noble sat drinking bourbon, while he watched his slave fight the king's Witch.
The queen would gently shift to look behind herself, her eyes were dark beneath them with bags her veins looked dark as if a tar substance was flowing through them. Her heartbeat could be seen in her neck, it was rapid then slow. She smiled to them as she tried to rise Armel would move and make her remain seated. Crevan seemed to be keeping a tally for the king and Nobleman on who's opponent was winning. " I trust that your journey was smooth?" The queen spoke softly her words made her sound as if she was out of breath, her figure all most skeleton thin it looks. It seemed that she was worse than before.

Ludin was always wary of places he has never been before. Quite frankly, Thea was the same way. As Jewel followed the butler, Felicity and Sarah through the castle, Ludin and Thea were not liking the feel of the magic in the air or through the doors. They followed closely behind Jewel, Thea being afraid that this was all some elaborate plan to separate them and Ludin just hating to be in unfamiliar places.
"So how long has the Queen been sick?" Jewel asked Felicity as they walked, holding the family book close to her chest. She felt under dressed, to be honest, following the butler in a formal tuxedo and the girls in dresses made for court. She was just in a simple pair of khakis and button-up shirt with her doctor's coat over it. She wore what she usually did when taking care of patients, not preparing for an extended trip. But maybe she should have...
"I believe she has been ill since before Sarah and I came here," Felicity replied, glancing back at the doppelganger of Aideen. She was told that Jewel looked exactly like her great-great-grandmother, but she wasn't prepared for how much she looked like her. She was in awe, really. And with that awe she had a thought. A rather forbidden thought, which made her chest seize up and quickly wipe that thought away for fear of anyone reading her thoughts. She wasn't too familiar with werewolves, but knew that they had telepathic abilities. She wasn't sure how good those abilities were, but she wasn't taking any chances. "It's ... I'll just let you see for yourself."
And Jewel did. "Oh, I wouldn't say body guards," Jewel amended, giving a brief smile to the butler as she curtsied a tad to the Queen. "This is my daughter Thea and grandfather, Panos." They barely gave formal greetings themselves, silent and stoic as Jewel wasted no time fitting into her role as healer. "It was, thank you." She smiled, took a friendly glance to Armel, and walked forward to stand by Laina - though not directly in her line of sight. "I've actually traveled similarly before, and that was the easiest way by far." Chuckling and shaking her head a bit, she took a more serious perusal of Laina's features.
Indeed, Felicity had Jewel look for herself. Honestly, it was pretty rough. Definitely nothing she has never seen before. Usually, she specialized in battle wounds and pediatric care, with just one occasion under her belt that could be compared to this. But she wasn't sure if what Laina was dealing with was like this. "I was told that this has been ailing you for a while," Jewel commented, taking mental note of the black-as-tar veins underneath Laina's skin. "I can see what I can do and will promise that I can do all that I can. Would you like to start right away?"
Sarah watched as Jewel interacted with her Queen, worrying her bottom lip. She was careful to not bite hard, like she did with her cheek. She was concerned for Laina, who has been her teacher in most things concerning being a lady of the court. And while she taught Sarah these things, Sarah had grown so close to Laina that seeing her in pain ... pained her.
"Crevan and Anya are down there," Felicity whispered to her, which gently brought her back to reality and had her stopping her bite her lip. She hasn't seen Crevan in what seemed like forever, which made her heartbeat quicken a few paces. Ever since Crevan brought her back from the faerie realm she didn't think he had spoken to her much before he left, leaving her with Anya at the castle.
She had missed him definitely. She had missed him a lot. So she turned her attention away from the doctor, her bodyguards, and the queen as she went to the balcony with forced slowness to watch below what was happening.

Alister would chuckle and say nothing more on the matter as he moved to stand off to the side waiting to be called upon. He wondered why the doctor would need of them if not for protection. He watched Jewel's female companion, he noticed family compatibility in their likeness. He tried to gauge the value of her soul ignoring the gentleman with them. As Sarah moved to the balcony the view of what was thought a man sitting in a chair next to Crevan was a woman with blonde hair flowing out of the hood hiding her face. The slave seemed to actually be her's, the cloak held a large symbol on the back of the family crest with ravens flying from the crest.
The slave had chains flowing from wrists and ankles with etches of lit up symbols, her magic flowed towards Anya like darkness slow and creeping that the ground took damage of anything living creeping through the stone. Anya would throw up her hands one holding a staff as a light blue force surrounded her. "clypeus!" (Shield) She then shifted the staff pushing it forward as her fingertips became a flame. "Impetu!" (force) The color of the shield changed pushing forward. The ash of ruin was pushed back with the force of the shield, Crevan looked to the Balcony as the woman beside him whispered something her fingers making a symbol in the air the death magic would vanish.
The Cloaked woman would draw something else in the air and the chains would pull the slave to the ground making it impossible for her to cast more. The king would shift licking his lips," Hold Anya while the correction is made. " Anya would let the staff touch the ground gently before she would smile to her king. " Did I do well?" she asked. He merely chuckled not wanting to answer for if the ash had touched the cloaked figure or Crevan it would have started to eat them alive. Crevan slowly moved up the steps his face stoic," I trust that you have been treated well in my absence?" He would ask about her training later. He took in the group that had arrived with a short brief look before looking back to Sarah.
When Jewel had stepped to the queen he made no move to attack, his smile was brief before he turned his attention to the fight below. The queen would smile slowly nodding her head before letting out a small laugh that sounded deeply congested. " I am glad to hear that you traveled well. Yes, it is the smoothest kind of travel without interference. " She closed her eyes gently for a moment as she breathed deeply. She would pull the lama shawl more around herself as she began to tremble as if cold. " Oh, this problem started the moment I sat upon the throne. " She said softly.
Seeing Alister's reaction to the announcement of the woman being her daughter she would frown slightly. " Alister Bring our guests some tea please." She would then smile to Jewel." We can start whenever you like. My condition won't change much if you rather settle in. " She looked to her witch who moved to help her up. She stood her witch taking her shawl showing off the thin dress she was wearing. " We should go somewhere private if so." She said softly her witch laying the shawl on the wicker couch. Alister had gone unnoticed in leaving. He had appeared with a tray with a tea set on it.

All three foreigners to this place knew that Jewel needed her daughter and grandfather for protection, but when Jewel corrected Alister, it was more because they came in good faith that nothing was going to happen that could jeopardize any lives. That was the last thing as both a healer and a mother Jewel wanted to happen. Not only that, but Jewel didn't want anyone to think that her grandfather and daughter were here to cause trouble either. So she introduced them more personally than just "bodyguards".
"The throne?" Jewel asked, drawing her eyebrows together. It took a few moments to comprehend what the queen had said, because Jewel was so used to having human patients that didn't have supernatural ailments. At least she knew what started it all. "All right, all right."
Jewel was a Southerner by heart who had grown with sweet tea flowing in her veins. When Queen Laina told Alister to grab some tea, it took all Jewel had not to grin with excitement. It was only recently that she had opened herself up to different teas other than sweetened black tea, which was a good thing because Jewel didn't expect for the tea being offered what she had in her sippy cup when she was a pup. Before she left with the queen, she walked over to Alister to get her a cup.
"Grandpa, could you hold the book for a second?"
"I don't think that would be a good-" Felicity tried to interject before Ludin reached for it. But it was too late; the immortal drew his hand back with a low curse of pain. The book had shocked him so hard it was like feeling a wolf's bite.
"-Idea," Felicity finished, deadpan. "The book only allows the women in our family with magic to touch it."
"That's weird," Thea stated, lifting her top lip in disapproval. Jewel only had shaken her head before asking Thea to get her a cup before following Laina and Armel.
Sarah hadn't really paid attention to any interaction before the blond-haired man with Lady Jewel cursed under his breath. Really, her attention was more on her Master, whom had her heart beating as fast as the blood could pump through it. It made her wonder why he still had that effect on her. Was it because, as she watched him walk up the stares, he reminded her so much of a predator? Or possibly she was afraid that he was angry with her and that's why he had that look on his face? Maybe both? Was he going to abandon her?
"Yes, Master," she murmured, her voice surprisingly strong when her knees were shaking with such relief she had to place her hand on the balcony so that no one saw that she was so shaken up with the scenario of abandonment. She gave him a smile, controlled, showing no teeth, but it was there to show she was happy to see him. "How was your trip?"

The Cloaked figure listened to the conversation going on when the male of the group became pained by the book she would shift. The slave's position was allowed to change, the temptress stood up moving back to the cloaked figure. " Again Later " The woman stood and bowed to the king who merely flicked his wrist as if saying go. Alister would remain still like those that wanted their tea would grab it when they were done he would move his hand and the set would vanish into a black smoke cloud before disappearing. The queen wondered at that moment if they could help her, the one that came seemed to not know the book as deeply as those that write their tomes and have history passed down. She would look to Alister. He would move to the French doors closing them briefly before opening them again, the throne room large doors seemed to appear in the second set of doors. He would bow his head as the queen slowly made her way with her witch escorting her. He gently patted her hand that held onto him, the queen moved through the French doors slowly her eyes would focus on the large doors with symbols. Her hand would slowly move to the air as she drew into the air the bright sparkled white light remained in the air for a little while like a sparkler. She was opening the locks on the door with magic, she whispered in Latin that had the tumblers shifting making loud clicks as it came to a stop. The large doors would swing open at Alister's commanding hand, the largeness made it seem as if for a giant.
The queen let go of her witch lifting her head as she moved into the room as if it was a matter of pride, her use of strength could be seen in the way she held her self. Once she had passed through her gown went from the light dress she had to a more regal outfit and a circlet formed across her forehead. The fur trim on her cloak was that of a wolf its head came down in front with its mouth wide open in an attacking motion. Stepping up the small steps to the throne to sit upon it, the black substance in her veins lite up turning purple as her eyes widened. When she opened her mouth a purple fog flowed out as she spoke. " Welcome to the queen's tomb. " The laugh was slightly demonic. Large throne doors slammed shut locking out the witch of the queen startling him. Alister's eyes shifted to a more goat-like appearance as he watched over the three. He would sniff a few times gauging them a smile would slick across his face before he slowly moved towards the throne.
He would lean down to speak to the queen," Your Eminence?" The queen faced forward still as Alister spoke to her. " Do not worry. They are here to make sure your vessel remains strong. Well, at least till you find another worthy to sit upon your throne. " The eyes of the queen flashed to a tar-like black for a moment before the beings essence slipped from her. She began a coughing fit gripping the handles on the throne until the bought stopped.
Crevan would watch her carefully and a small smile would briefly grace his lips. " My trip was eventful. Though upon arriving home..." He seemed to trail off for a moment." Well that matters not it is no longer my problem. "Turning his attention briefly to the pair going by before he frowned a little. " Are you well? Your heart rate exceeds at resting pace?" He gently placed his hand on her shoulder. " Do you need to sit" He motioned to the couch where the queen had sat previously.

Jewel wasn't familiar with the book, no. Even the language that it was written in, but she has looked through it before. There were illustrations, at least, that she could look at. Thea beginning of it was innocent enough. She assumed it was a Book of Shadows sort of thing. A grimoire? Or was there a difference? She honestly didn't know because she didn't practice the magic that was apparently within her. But when the pictures started to get more... grotesque did she become concerned there was something more to this book than what she had perceived.
Some were just mere sketches. A few only took up a part of a page. But the rest? They were fully-colored depictions of what she perceived to be demons. There were different handwritings in the book, she knew, and the very last page was that of what she felt in her gut was her great-great-grandmother's handwriting before Uncle Simon acquired it. (How in the world he got it even with the "no man shall touch it" rule, she didn't know, but she got the book when she inherited the estate.) She hoped that her family weren't demon conjurers, but she honestly wouldn't be surprised.
Jewel was the only one to get tea, but she instructed Thea on how much she wanted and what she wanted in it. She smiled at Alister, said, "Thank you, much!" Then followed Armel and Laina.
Jewel watched with curiosity as first the doors they had walked through opened to a completely new direction than which they had walked from, then when the queen drew a magic symbol in the air, and when she changed clothes.
"Glamour, perhaps?" she heard Panos whisper.
I've got goosebumps all over my body, Ma, Jewel heard Thea talk through the pack bond. I don't like this.
"I don't think so," Felicity answered Ludin's whisper, making Jewel turn her head sharply. To be honest, she had almost forgotten about Felicity. "It's a pretty nice ability to have, though."
Thea, you will be fine, Jewel reassured her daughter, moving the book from both arms to just one, letting it swing from her hip. It was getting kind of heavy, but she wasn't about to say anything. Well, she almost dropped it at the boom of the doors. She even went so far as to screech. "Oh, my God," she muttered afterward, embarrassed. Then she grew concerned.
Apparently, so did Thea and Panos. They stepped in front of her, identical scowls on their faces. It was a bit comical with Thea though, because she was still holding her mother's teacup.
"Alister, what is going on?" Felicity asked, coming to Jewel's side. It wasn't because she was afraid of being in here and she wanted to hide behind Panos and Thea (she did admit that the air was absolutely thick with what she felt to be a demonic presence). But if she was given an answer, she only shook her head. She must have forgotten that he was a demon, she admonished herself. But interacting day-to-day with Alister probably had something to do with that. Their exchanges had been refreshing. Of course, it was a rocky start, but she would have liked to believe it had gotten better especially when they all traveled to the faerie realm to rescue Sarah.
"Hold this for me, would you?" Jewel practically shoved the book into Felicity's hand before pivoting on her foot and moving around the wall Thea and her grandfather made. She ignored the protests, moving toward the queen intently with one hand unlatching her messenger bag. "Your majesty, are you all right?"
But she didn't make it far - maybe about half way - before Panos grabbed a hold of her torso, lifted her up, then placed her behind him. "Are you crazy?" he snapped, growling a little bit. "It's clear her ailment is much more than the flu or measles or even a disease strong enough to knock a werewolf on his arse. You can't just rush up like that to save the day."
"You act as if I was running at her," she snapped back, practically hissing. "I'm not that stupid." Then she turned and curtsied. "I apologize if I offended you in any way. I am only concerned for your health." A sigh and a nod of her head later, she put her dark blonde hair in a ponytail. "That's the exact reason why I came here." To Felicity, she asked, "Can you read the language in that book?" And after a nod from her, she smiled. "Great! Is there anything in there having to do with anything that just happened. Just a shot in the dark, I feel as if it has something like that."
"I've actually never read it before. But it's in Gaelic. I can take a look."
"That would be grand." Then to the queen, she asked, "So is the demon attached to you or the throne? Can you tell me what is going on? If you need to give me a history lesson that's fine too."
***
She saw a smile! Hallelujah, thank the heavens above!
At that smile, her own smile grew bigger. The relief she had first felt grew ten times at seeing that small smile of his. Anything that she felt - any anxiety of being left alone - left slowly. "Oh, no, I'm okay," she reassured, shaking her head. "Just glad that you're home."
Looking toward the doors everyone exited through, she sighed. When she first started wearing corsets or otherwise corset-backed dresses she could barely breath in them, much less sigh. But she was getting the hang of it, she liked to think. It was only a day-dress that she was wearing, similar to the one she had yesterday but more of a pale green. Felicity told her that it complemented her eyes and hair, both golden in color.
Damn that heightened hearing though. "You don't plan on going on another trip any time soon, do you?"

Alister would chuckle lightly when Felicity asked him a question his demon tongue slipped out and licked his face, the smell of fear thick for a moment. " Oh, she was possessed for a moment. " He stated. Though he noticed the group arguing among themselves before he would crouch near the queen whos head was low for the moment.
" Sit up my queen." She sat back breathing heavy before looking at him. He smiles at her before sitting on the edge of the armrest. " That is it just breath. " He would gently push hair behind her ears, sweat seemed to cling her hair to her. She would lick her lips her breath sounding as if it was going to end soon. He would pull out a fan and gently flick it so the air would go across her. " That is it, dearie. " He would lay her back before standing up stowing the fan. She sucked in air before coughing again black tar-like substance hit the floor as if she had coughed it up onto the surrounding area. Patting her mouth with a white hankie left the substance on it.
Alister would adjust his over jacket. " Oh, you fear demons?" He said with a smile walking to the two of them. The queen had been too far to hear what she had said to her, Alister licked his lips seeming normal again. " I think you are in over your heads. His Eminence has a strong hold on her. I doubt that you could help her if you tried. " He said to Jewel but kept his eyes on Panos his sneer growing." You, I should have noticed sooner. " He only looked briefly over Thea's shoulder when he heard the two women conversing about the book.
" Your daddy has been spreading his seed wide, hasn't he? So what level of demon are you?" Alister was the right hand to the throne and ever curious if he could add to his strength. The queen would let out a breath before she spoke." The throne is its holding place. I become its vessel if it feels threatened in any way. " She said with a cough. She seemed ready to sleep with how much energy she had spent on the coughing and possession.
Alister shifted slightly with a laugh," That woman could not tell you how the throne got the way it is. Only that the demon is housed in it. Her mother could tell you though" He said with a smile remaining before Panos. He did look to the rest of them though.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Crevan watched over her for a moment to make sure she wasn't fibbing before he smiled again because of her being glad he was home. He raised a brow however at her question she had spoken to him. " Hmm, I had no plan on going anywhere for a week at least. Though if I do go anywhere you are welcome to come along. " He cleared his throat as he looked around for a moment. " I mean if your studies can allow it. " He was not sure where everyone had disappeared to. He would slowly sit on the railing and watch her. " Can you show me any spells?" He thought all magic was an abomination, but he knew that she wanted to learn desperately. So he allowed it and felt that he might change his mind about it altogether, meaning he would see it in a better light. Considering his wife had been magic as well, he only hated it for what it reminded him of. Though now that Sarah was around he felt a little less painful.

No one graced Alister with an answer. Instead, as he grew closer, they kept his eyes on him. Everyone except Felicity, who was steadily going through the book with a look of concentration on her face. Her eyes narrowed when she found specific phrases, pursed her lips before nodding when she got to a list of ingredients for some sort of potion or other concoction. Needless to say, she was happy.
For the most part.
Finally, Panos spoke, a glint in his eye before his ice-blue eyes started to become red. It started in the inner iris, and it started slow. He was getting angry, yet he tried not get that way. His eye color was a physical representation of his inner battle. "I don't think I am grasping what you are assuming, butler. Take a few steps, if you will."
"What is he assuming, Panos?" Thea asked, ready to strike if need be. She didn't like the idea of going to a different realm in the first place, but with her mother, who had a heat of gold as much as she had an eye for adventure, she couldn't really tell her no. Sure, she advised on not going, but saying no? She couldn't.
Everyone knew what Alister was getting at though, and Jewel had to break away from the group before she blew up. It was rare for her to blow up; when she did, it wasn't pretty. Sure, she forgave almost as soon as she did blow up, but that wasn't the point. From Alister saying that she couldn't help the queen to Panos not denying what Alister was saying, she just needed to breathe. And as she walked up toward her patient, she did.
"Considering that my 'daddy' is chained until Ragnarok, I am certain that my brothers and I are the only three of his children." He admitted it by not really admitting it. If anyone did research though, they would know. "Most call me an archdemon. Is that what you're looking for, butler?"
Ignoring the conversation going on behind her, Jewel nodded at the queen's words. "I see. So what if you stopped sitting on the throne?" Jewel whipped her head back to Alister, fire in her eyes. "Excuse me, but I wasn't talking to you. But out of the goodness of my heart, I will take your words into consideration." She hated when other people spoke for her patients, from mothers talking for their children to spouses talking for their significant others. A lot of them don't know what exactly is going on with the subject at hand. And don't even get her started on those that Google their symptoms. Just like Alister, they sounded like know-it-alls.
Thea couldn't help but laugh at that, breaking away from the group as well to follow her mother. This left only Alister and Panos, standing toe-to-toe, and Felicity, who was now levitating the book in front of her and murmuring words under her breath. Her eyes glowed brightly and her cheeks were flushed as she continued to murmur. She stood rigid for a few minutes before relaxing. Really, all she did was cast a protection spell onto herself. She wasn't about to cast an offensive spell. At least, not right now.

Sarah's smile at the thought of coming along changed into that of a small frown. Was she excited to learn magic? Yes, she was. But a lot of the lessons that she had with Felicity was getting redundant. It was the same thing over and over again. Lift this, astral project over there. Read my aura. Blah blah blah. She had asked Felicity when they were going to move onto something else. So she had been presented with the four physical elements: earth, air, water, and fire.
"Each of the witches in our family are gifted with an affinity for one or more of the five elements."
"But there is four here," Sarah had observed. On a table sat a bowl of water, a black feather, a lit candle, and a potted plant. "Where is the fifth one?"
"Spirit is inside every thing, living and non. Spirit cannot be manipulated like the others. Well, manipulated isn't a good word, but you get what I mean." Felicity walked to the bowl of water and demonstrated where her magic is centered. "Now try to see if you can get at least one of the elements to do what you ask."
The only element that responded to her was earth, in which she made the plant bloom. It took every plea she could muster though.
She frowned not because of the redundancy of her lessons or even the flashback of her near failure with the elements, but because with this book she feared that the lessons will be nonstop back-to-back-to-back. To be honest, she wanted a break. At least, from her magic lessons.
"I hope so," she said, but she wasn't very hopeful.
When he asked for her to demonstrate, she took a breath in and nodded. "But I can't do much. Just what Felicity calls parlor tricks." But she did do a few things. She walked over to the back of the couch where the queen was sitting, lifted her hands, and commanded for it to be lifted. She felt her body hum with the magic that she had been gifted with as it was raised higher and higher. Before it touched the ceiling she lowered it until it was a couple centimeters off the ground. Only when she released her hold did it thud to the ground.
Then she walked to stand in front of him, her cheeks flushed, and closed her eyes. She pictured herself behind him, and grew still. There would be a tap on Crevan's shoulder, but it wouldn't be from the Sarah that was in front of him. Actually, if Crevan turned around, he would see another (but translucent) Sarah that greeted and waved to him.
After a minute, the astral projection disappeared with a pop and Sarah opened her eyes. "I can also read auras and make plants bloom. But Felicity said that the extent of my magic won't appear unless something ... extreme happens."

Alister did not move from the spot he stood toe-to-toe with him, his tongue would slide across his teeth for a moment before he let out a chuckle. He shifted little leaning back all most to the point of falling. " Ooo so Archdemon? Big boys. If had a few more demons with me you could be my next meal. " He ignored Jewel's spat at him and kept his eyes on Panos. " I would hate to share the essence of you. Not worth it then." Turning slowly putting his back to him telling him that he wasn't threatened by him. He slowly moved towards the throne. His eye on the queen.
He was not answering for her because he thought he knew it all, he answered for her because it made it difficult to breathe and talk at the same time. But he remained silent now. The queen looked to jewel she shuttered shaking her head." Leaving the throne only lessons the connection. It is still there. " She looked to Alister then back to Jewel. " I would have to break the connection completely. I have no idea to do that. All I know is the demon within chooses its vessel. " She felt in skin feel like it was on fire as she grits her teeth together her large fangs showing. A muffled scream escaped her till she opened her mouth the purple fog slipped from her mouth in clouds till her eyes shifted back. Her fingers had claws shaping over her fingernails.
Alister watched as the queen was being shaped to the demons needs, black tar leaked from her eyes as her eyes went white. The throne had vines slipping down the back wrapping a circlet around the queen's spikes coming up off it, it made it look as if she was growing horns from the circlet. The vines slipped over her arms moving to the bottom of her arm like it was going to be used as trindles. Her scream went from a womanly one to more deep demonic one, " You bring me such power." When she stood the sound of snapping bones was heard, her steps left footprints of tar." I can feel it from here"The demon's eyes focused on Felicity who was protected by the spell. Its laugh sounded like several demons in unison, Alister made no move as it seemed to Ignore Jewel. When it made its move to Felicity he stepped before him, this caught the demon's attention looking down at the butler. The Queens' hand held out as her tome appeared its pages fluttering towards a spell, she drew it down in front of her the sound of her bones shaping more." Alister move. I won't ask again." Upon being asked to move he would let the vessel melt from him as his body enlarged wings fanning out as he let out a dead soul howl out. His horns curling down to his face the spikes on his back covered in spikes his flesh red around his arms and legs. in his middle, it was like cracked magma. The queen's mouth moved as if she was reading a spell, but the demons sound came out in a laugh. " You are too weak to fight me. " The vines slipped out around Alister's neck squeezing as smoked raised from it. Alister grabbed the queens arm her skin started to sizzle and the scream came from her again.
If he had to Alister would kill the queen to trap the demon once more in the throne, he looked to Jewel in the eyes as he grabbed the queens another arm. " Tell her to hurry"Alister's voice sounded like the damned screaming in unison. When the mouth of the queen stopped latin words floated in the air around Alister like chains before it constricted around him, his body would steam" disperse a me dici quod essentia spargant in sua potestate" (disperse this spell the essence of me claim its power) The words would pulse before exploding and turn to ash. After that his light dimed slightly in his center, it was not long before the dimmed light turned back to normal. The queen's mouth would begin to move again as if she was speaking an incantation silently.

Crevan seemed to have faith in the choices she made, even as she doubted herself will to get what she needed and possibly wanted. He watched her to start her demonstration of her parlor trick skill. He seemed fairly stoic watching her little magic tricks, though when she stepped before him and he felt someone touch his shoulder his reaction was quick. A flash of eyes he turned to grab whoever did it, but seeing the Astral projection of Sarah he smiled before turning back he would hear her words and touch her shoulders." Your will is your strength. Anything is possible in a dire situation, doesn't mean you can not do more with years of practice. " He knew that anyone could do anything if they focused on it. He had watched his niece learn magic over the years that only a few could wield, it was after her father told her she couldn't. She stuck with it and eventually mastered it, just like her grandmother.
He would slowly let go of her shoulders seeing her as she was had him let out a soft sigh for a moment. " But that is up to you what you can achieve. No one else. " He would gently grip her chin" Not even I can force you or tell you what you desire. " He would reach up pulling his crested necklace from his neck. He would gently place it around hers, " This gives you the freedom of my family. " He looked her over a little. " I have seen how you look at the prince on the occasions we have had to be around him. " He would smile and let out a small chuckle before running his hands through his hair. " And I know how old I am compared to you. I release you from my service. " He said gently touching her shoulder before walking towards the french doors.

Jewel was truly at a loss for words. She stood there, with bile rising in her throat, as she watched the queen start to morph into some unholy beast. Her feet seemed to have planted, and if it hadn't been for her daughter physically moving her ... she didn't want to know what could have happened. Thankfully it wasn't going toward her anyway, but neither woman was going to take that chance.
Felicity herself had to take a few steps back from the situation, but knew she couldn't go anywhere. Not because she was afraid of the situation - well, she was, but that wasn't why. It was because her need to help the queen was greater than her fear. When she got her distance, she flipped a few more pages in her family's spell book. Jewel didn't need to tell her anything. At this moment, what Felicity needed was something to diffuse this situation - and do that fast.
What had gave her pause was that ... Alister jumped in front of her. The damned demon, she cursed in her mind. She knew what he was. If there ever was a doubt it had been dashed now. He stood in his full glory. No illusion to have her paint a different picture of him. Horns, goat eyes. Every single bit of it was what her family swore to defend against.
And here she was, afraid for Alister's life.
"Felicity!" she heard Jewel call out. "If you have anything now would be a great time!"
She shook her head, clearing her thoughts before calling out in a strong, commanding voice:
Oh, demon, hear me now The one whom is called His Eminence Release your vessel, I will tell you how Softly, slowly, gently And sleep, sleep, for another day.
The spell wasn't meant to exorcise the demon from Laina's body. She didn't have enough power for that or the right timing. This spell was meant to bring forth Laina at the same time pushing back the demon and putting him to sleep until the spell wore off. This spell had been modified by one of her ancestresses that had that power so that when the demon let go, it did so without any retaliation. Softly, slowly, gently.

His words lit something akin to a sun in her belly, spreading the warmth of pride through her veins. Sarah remembered when she first came to the Isles, how she was so scared of the place and the people what it could possibly mean to be a scion. But as days turned to weeks and weeks to months, she found herself calling the Isles her home, and Master was no longer a weird word for her. Instead, it meant - to her - someone she had grown to respect and care for.
She felt the callouses on his hand has he gripped her chin. He was gentle. She liked that about him. Because while he was her Master and the General, he had never risen his voice. She saw a side that hardly anyone else got to see. When he pulled away from her, her chin felt cold. And as the necklace rested against her chest, she looked up and met his eyes. At first, she was confused. But finally, his words made sense after he was walking toward the French doors. She was all at once embarrassed, terrified, and lost.
The necklace was supposed to be freedom, and yet, as she followed him, it was so heavy. Freedom was supposed to be light. At least, that's what she had read in books. When someone she had read about had been given what Crevan was implying they were happy. But she couldn't be happy. She was embarrassed because Crevan saw the interactions between her and the prince; she knew there was nothing to come of that because there are others more qualified to be courted and she wasn't about to join the fan base. She was terrified because even with freedom she didn't know where to even start. She was so used to helping everyone, trying to please. And she felt lost because ... she wasn't sure. But she did.
Her fingertips buzzed, releasing sparks of electricity as she turned and went to follow him. "W-Wait," she stammered, trying her hardest not to cry with the overwhelming emotions going through her. But if he did she probably didn't know where to start in trying to explain herself.

Alister reared his horned head like a goat and came down on the queens, there was no contact as a force snapped his head back. Staggering back his hands would let go of her, it letting her shift again going through the book that floated up to her hand. The demon would hear Felicity command him to sleep, he started to laugh as a sneer went cross the queen's face." You ..." The queens face registered fear as the vines slowly started to sink back to the throne letting her go. The cloaked figure stood between the closed curtains, her hand holding a small piece of amber. The power used to amplify the command Felicity used.
The sound of bones resetting as she let out air as her eyes rolled from the back of her head, letting out a cough of black blood she would collapse to the floor. A black smoke formed around the throne. The figure would put away the amber, before holding a smoothed crystalized ball. It looked like the night sky with northern lights, except they were blue in hued color. Some of the black smoke rolled to the crystal and was trapped inside. The figure would disappear.
Alister huffed as the demon image faded as he adjusted his suit jacket and smoothed his hair, he would briefly look back to Felicity. " I shall have the servants gather the things jewel will need to tend to her. " He cleared his throat as he looked down at the queen who looked pretty much broken. " She should heal in a few hours. Make her comfortable please" He whispered to Jewel. He would jerk his jacket forward and then button it. " I will bring some Irish coffee. " He would disappear in smoke.
The sound of the door vibrating could be heard as if someone was trying to break inside. The queen's bones kept shifting and once in a while she would let out a soft whimper as her body forced her back into a normal fashion. The large doors eventually had the sound of being unlocked and opened, the king started to stroll in but was knocked aside by the witch who moved towards the queen. The king's face would fill with rage as he snapped up his hand it throwing the witch aside hard against the wall. Being knocked out instantly. " It happened again?" His voice shook with anger but his face was once again with a calm look." where is Alister?"
Several servants moved into the throne room carrying towels and steaming water, others had what seemed to be crystals. Things one might use for healing with magic, a moved as if they were going to pick her up. But when the King tensed they did not move further, they waited for someone to tell them what to do.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Crevan stopped before the doors turning his face seemed a little surprised, " Yes?' She sounded as if she was once back to the beginning of her stay here. Frightened. He slowly walked back to her, his hands touching her shoulders. " Calm your self. " He thought she would be happy with what he had done. Now he was confused though his face showed concern more than anything. He sniffed the air smelling salt as if ready to spill. His brow furrowed slightly as he pulled her close to him. He waited to listen to what she had to say, he was sure that she had wanted the prince.
Not far in the distance, the Temptress stood watching as her hand gently pet the snake that hung on her shoulder, a smile covered her lips till the cloaked figure appeared behind her. " You leave him alone. Or I will eat your heart witch. Add you to my collection of souls I use for magic. " The smirk slowly faded from her lips as her eyes downcast. " That is better. My son is not a plaything. "
The snake started to slither away only to have the cloaked figure slice its head off with a Blood weeper, " I own you in all most every fashion. Continue on this path and your soul will be mine as well witch. I have no sympathy for those that cross me." The snake turned to ash and appeared on the witch body again, locked by the magical bindings. The cloaked figure would turn and walk away, the Temptress's lip curled in anger before she turned and followed.

Felicity's heartbeat was racing. As she took a deep breath in she thought to herself over and over, "It worked."
She really couldn't believe it. Holding her family's book - covered with worn leather and engraved with golden words - for the first time to find something to take down a demon (if only temporary) and then actually subduing said demon? That was legendary, at least to her. Felicity's body hummed with the magick she was gifted with, but she was also parched and lightheaded. With her magick still at the forefront, she felt rather than heard Alister's words. "Good," she responded distractedly.
She heard Alister's whisper to Jewel, who had come up to the group with Thea in tow. "Will do," Jewe had said as Felicity closed and plucked the book from the air. When Damien came in, no one said anything after he asked if "it happened again". But Felicity answered his question regarding Alister. "He went to go get coffee."
Her gut twisted, though. Why did she feel like she tattled on Alister? It was clear that Damien was highly upset. If it were Foster in Laina's place, she would be too. Though from the sound of it Alister was in charge of watching over Laina as well. As much as she was confused about her feelings and his actions, she couldn't deny that she didn't want for Alister to get in trouble.
***
Sarah worried her bottom lip, her fear of being mute confirmed as he turned around. The lump in her throat was too big, and rather painful.
If Crevan had told her that he was confused, she would have admitted she was too. She was certain that any other person standing in her place would take his offer and run. Have as much freedom as the royal family? Not be considered as a slave? Yes! Any rational person wouldn't think twice.
Was she flattered to have gained the attention from the rpince? Yes, Has she always dreamed of something like this to come along? Most definitely. But as she continued to stay at the palace, learning to walk and act like a lady of the court on top of her magick lessons, the more she realized she that even though she did fancy the prince as well she wasn't good enough.
She has never been good enough. Not when she was a simple human living day to day. Not when she was part of the human trafficking system and she was the last girl to be bought. Why would she be good now?
And don't even get her started on Julian's witch.
She wasn't sure if Crevan had went to hug her or just bring her closer to him, but she wrapped her arms around his waist either way. Sarah had never hugged him. Really the only one that she had hugged since coming to the Isles was Anya. It turned out, hugging Crevan was just like hugging her best friend. It made her feel good - well, better - even if he was taller and definitely more masculine than Anya.
"I'm sorry," she started, squeezing gently. Now that she had wrapped her arms around him she wasn't ready to let go. "I'm really thankful," she continued, her voice warbling. "But ... I don't know."
At least, she didn't know how to put what she was feeling into words. It wasn't just her feeling like she wasn't good enough for Julian (to have such freedom too honestly) but she was afraid that she was going to lose Crevan too. She wouldn't have an excuse to go with him on trips or to go see the soldiers down at the camp sight. She couldn't see Max as often as she wanted to. Not with how busy her days were. Maybe she wasn't ready for Scion duties. But she sure as hell wasn't ready to be without her master either.

(sorry for the shortness. Was getting ahead of myself)
Damien shifted to crouch next to his wife, his fingers gently brushed back her hair. His eyes seemed full of pain as he watched her shutter a few breaths as another bone popped. They only became more pained as he scooped her up and she let out a very loud scream when more bones popped in place because he had lifted her. Her face would push into his chest as she gripped his pressed shirt, his eyes would close briefly as he kissed her forehead whispering to her. She nodded her head as he moved he started to become covered in tar along with where he stepped. He would pass Jewel heading for behind the throne. " Come my wife's royal chamber. " It was where she stood when she couldn't make it to their room up the grand stairs. " Make your selves at home. Tell Alister I will speak with him soon. " His voice sounded strained. He walked for the washroom closing the door.
Alister would appear after the servants had filed in holding two trays he would put on a table, two scotch bottles appeared on the table. The servants would start setting up things Jewel might need, the wash basin was copper and had some runes etched into its sides. The servants set the trays of crystals, towels, and herbs down. Only after that, they would depart from the room with there heads hung as if somehow they had failed. Alister poured a cup of coffee then added a small green bottle with cross and bones on it. He would top it placing it back in his jacket as he sipped on the coffee. He would look at the group if they actually came into the room one at a time. Though his eyes focused on Felicity long than the others, he sucked on his teeth a little before letting out a sigh." Is everyone else unharmed?" He asked trying to blanket his concern for Felicity as she had been the target he assumed.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Crevan's brow furrowed further when she said sorry. " Sarah? What is there to be sorry for?" He said holding her close. " You are confusing me. " He seemed a little worried now that she seemed even more upset. He only held tighter to her not knowing what to do about how she was feeling. He wanted to tell her she could stay, it was not like he was forcing her to leave the palace or move away from him. He just wanted her to be free to make her own choices, he wanted her happiness. It would even give her a way back to her family if she so chose, he knew she had no say in what had happened to her. And for a while, he indulged things that he should of not, because the court would frown upon it. Still curtailed to his fathers thinking that he didn't choose for himself. Well, no more of that. He smiled down at her," Though I can say this. You have nothing to fear. " He had no idea in reality what she might want.
